Chapter 2: Scary Women.
"We are watching a rom-com and that's final!" Nino Nakano said.
All of the guys in the frat house groaned, collectively. They all looked at their temporary leader and manager with different levels of glares and frowned. Hachiman Hikigaya did his best to ignore them, because it was too much of an ask to go up against the scariest Nakano sister with the antique pink hair. He instead tried to get the boys out of the frat house.
"Oreki, why are you even here?"
The laziest guy he had ever met, twirled a piece of his hair and sighed to himself. "I'm hiding from, Chitanda."
Hachiman winced. Damn, the curious little ball of energy that was Eru Chitanda had now turned to the energy conserving Houtarou Oreki to sate her curiosity. On the one hand he was happy that he no longer had all of her undivided attention. Those large purple eyes were scary. He got enough of it in the club. It was one of the reasons he was kinda okay with managing the frat house because it meant having time away from the club and most importantly, her.
In the end, he sympathized with the first year student. "Fine you can stay. But if Chitanda comes crashing through the door, saying she's curious, you are the first one I'm kicking out."
"You can't kick him out, Hikigaya-san." Haruyuki Arita said, timidly, standing up for the boy who spoke so little. "He is a member of the fraternity now. I saw his name in the register."
"There is a register, like a physical book?" Yuu Otsaka piped up. "Damn, we are really behind on the technological front aren't we? We are still using pen and paper to keep records."
"I never said that." Haruyuki argued with the proud and cocky Yuu Otsaka. "Like everything else in Neo Tokyo University, HEUSC, the AI maintains the record. I just checked them to make sure…" he trailed off, looking afraid to speak anymore.
Hachiman felt sympathy towards the small, rotund boy who was right to be fearful in the face of Yuu Otsaka. He had supernatural powers and as far as he knew, he could take control of other people for a short amount of time. Now that was a really scary power to have. But Hachiman needed to be strong and show him his rightful place in the frat house. After all, Yuu Otsaka was just another guy in the frat house. He wasn't anything special.
"Otsaka, stop threatening Haruyuki." Miyuki Shirogane spoke up before he could. Hachiman felt extremely grateful towards the blonde haired, associate student body president.
"Oh, what are you gonna do to me, prez?" Yuu Otsaka laughed. "You forget, you are not the boss of me. I am a student of the special wing."
He had them there. Miyuki Shirogane was the president of the student body which had control and influence over the normal students. But Yuu Otsaka had powers, abilities. He was a student of the special wing and he was only answerable to the female president of the student associate body, Medaka Kurokami.
But Hachiman couldn't let Shirogane be alone in this standoff. He stood beside the president, drawing up to his full height and glared down at the unruly member of the fraternity, while speaking with the authority as his leader.
"Otsaka, that's no way to talk to a fellow member." Hachiman said. "We are all equals here." He smirked. "You wouldn't want me to drop a suggestion in the famous Medaka Box, do you?"
Yuu Otsaka shrinked back a little, taking what he said into full consideration. He had powers, but Medaka Kurokami was out of his league, all powerful and well liked across the university, both with the normal students and the special students. He wouldn't stand a chance before her might. Even Mordred Pendragon said she was an all powerful fighter and Hachiman didn't take her words lightly. Compared to her, Yuu Otsaka was a mere trickster.
He knew when he was outmatched, but he was a sore loser. "Is that the best you can do, oh mighty leader? And I am referring to Hikigaya here, not you Shirogane." He moved closer, striking a pose with his hands covering his eyes. "All you can do is run and get help from your betters. Pathetic! I should have know when you let a woman like Nakano walk all over you. You are nothing but a bunch of sissies who sit around and watch chick flicks – Ack! Fuck!"
Hachiman Hikigaya, Miyuki Shirogane, Houtarou Oreki and Haruyuki Arita watched in horror, even wincing viciously together multiple times, when Nino Nakano strutted forward like a supermodel walking down a catwalk and kicked Yuu Otsaka in the balls, twice in quick succession.
The boys watched in silence as the once proud and powerful, Yuu Otsaka fell down to the ground, clutching his privates, convulsing. Nino Nakano stepped over him like he was a stinking pile of dog crap and spared him not a single glance. She was now once again in front of the television set, with a dvd case in her manicured hand.
"Like I was saying before I was rudely ignored by you jerks, we are watching a rom-com." She put the dvd into the player and took the remote. "It's Love Actually."
"I love that movie!" Miyuki Shirogane exclaimed.
Hachiman looked at him, a single eye brow raised, his look worth a thousand words. Miyuki went defensive. "What? I have a little sister."
"So do I." Hachiman said. "But, I have never seen it."
"I have heard only good things about it online." Haruyuki Arita spoke up. "It's a classic rom-com."
Houtarou Oreki was smart enough to know when he was beat. But he could have phrased it much better. Unfortunately he said. "I will suffer through it, I guess."
Nino Nakano cracked her knuckles. Hachiman quickly came to Oreki's aid. "He means he will enjoy it, Nakano! Don't you Oreki?"
Oreki looked at him and briefly nodded, this time understanding the danger he was in. "I have never seen a romcom before. Is this a good one?" He feigned interest.
"The best!" Miyuki Shirogane said.
"I knew I made the right decision when I voted for you." Nino Nakano said. However she looked sad, like she was coming to terms with a sad, tragic news. Not tragic as in the sense of a death of a loved one or some bad medical news, but it was a more comedic sadness like having real romantic feelings for a dumb, idiotic, dense motherfucker like Raku Ichijou or Ichika Orimura for example.
Miyuki Shirogane looked a bit smug. "Oh really? Did you like my manifesto, the things I said I would do for the students if I get elected."
"Nah, none of that nonsense." Nino Nakano was frank. "You looked like my type, that was enough to get my vote. But that was before I figured out you were bit of a tight ass, who's into small breasts."
Houtarou Oreki looked afraid. "A lolicon."
Hachiman Hikigaya smacked him on the head, like he would a little brother. "Don't be an idiot. Older woman have small breasts too."
"President loves Shinomiya-san, right?" Haruyuki Arita said.
Miyuki Shirogane was uncomfortable. "That's just a baseless rumour. I don't like Shinomiya in a romantic sense."
Hachiman smirked. "Sure you don't."
Nino Nakano blushed for some reason. "Enough talk. It's movie time!" And then, without saying anything else, she pulled him, that is, Hachiman Hikigaya down, right next to her on the sofa. He tumbled down and landed unceremoniously and gave her a look. She didn't say anything, before placing her long, gorgeous legs over his lap and turned her eyes to the movie. Hachiman waited a second more before saying anything.
"Aren't you gonna move your legs from my lap?"
Nino Nakano didn't spare him a look. "I like it this way."
He shrugged and put a hand, gently on her leg, checking her ankle and sole. "You didn't sprain your leg or anything did you?" He looked at the prone, whimpering form of Yuu Otsaka. "You kicked him quite hard."
"He deserved it." Nino Nakano said, vehemently, moving closer. "He was talking smack about you."
"And the president." Hachiman pointed at Miyuki Shirogane, who was by now engrossed in the movie.
Nino Nakano shook her head and let out the same, old sigh from before. "You are an idiot."
"One of the biggest idiots on campus." Houtarou Oreki said.
"One of the luckiest idiots too." Haruyuki Arita said.
The two of them were smart enough to take their seat on the floor. Nino Nakano with her legs in the lap of Hachiman Hikigaya and Miyuki Shirogane, who was revisiting a childhood classic of a film which he had watched with his cute little sister were the only ones occupying the sofa. The others, with the exception of the whimpering Yuu Otosaka didn't seem to mind this sitting arrangement. He was also missing out on a great movie.
"Does this place have any ice?" Yuu Otsaka croaked out, finally managing to get up.
Hachiman Hikigaya said only two words. "Living room. Fridge."
Yuu Otsaka gave a small nod of acknowledgement and stumbled his way to the living room. When he was out of hearing distance, Hachiman moved his head closer to Nino Nakano and whispered into her right ear a few small, curious words. "Where did you learn to do that?"
The close proximity and having his hot breath in her sensitive ear made Nino Nakano blush a dark shade of red. This guy was really an idiot, of all the things he could ask, this is what he had in his mind. As far as she was concerned, it was nothing special really.
"I'm friends with Nao Tomori." Nino Nakano whispered back.
Hachiman winced. Nino Nakano noticed it and couldn't help but ask. "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." He had subconsciously put his hand on her lower leg for some time now and very much unknowingly was rubbing and drawing lazy patterns on the soft, white skin of her calves. It made her pretty self conscious but she didn't stop him, because she liked what he was doing with her. But as with everything, he had to ruin it by open his mouth.
"Iroha Isshiki mentioned her name to me a few times." He sighed, thinking about his foxy kohai. "They don't seem to get along."
Nino Nakano felt a bit more grumpy when he was talking about other women, especially when he practically had her lower half in his lap. Without thinking, she used her leg and poked him in the arm, getting his attention while also making him a bit annoyed.
"What?" He growled.
She blushed. That deep, baritone voice, it was really something. But she also had a temper which flared up at the unlikeliest of moments. The boys called it tsundere tendencies. She didn't call it anything.
"Pay attention!" she snapped.
"Fine." He said, hands still on her legs, driving her mad. "I will watch this little romcom, if that makes you happy."
Nino Nakano sniffed. She had silently meant that he should pay more attention to her, but as she expected it went over his head. She looked down at the two boys, Oreki and Haruyuki and they looked at her with a sympathetic expression in their eyes. Only Miyuki Shirogane, who was mouthing dialogues from the film, remained unaware of the drama that was taking place in the sofa.
Nino Nakano glared at the two boys. "What are you guys looking at?"
"Nothing!" The two boys said, simultaneously and quickly returned their full attention back to the movie.
Meanwhile, Yuu Otsaka nursed the injury made against his manhood with ice. "I hope there's no swelling." He now also had a new found respect for Hachiman Hikigaya, because he seemed to have a handle on this type of crazy and violent women.
A/N: I know, people won't really like this fic. It won't be as popular as the others, but I still wanted to write this chapter. Those who think that there will be elements of yaoi and slash in this fic, can rest easy. As you can see from this chapter and the previous one, the pairings will me heterosexual in nature, between Hachiman and a women character from different animes.
