Cameron Morgan

I was having trouble sleeping and decided to go through the secret passageways that were hidden in the academy. I was just walking through the Hall Of History when I heard a soft thump come from my right.

I paused and slowly turned. I started feeling along the wall and found a switch. My eye twitched. How did I not know about this passageway?

Oh, wait... this is a school for spies. I'm not actually supposed to know about any of the secret passageways in the first place.

I eased silently into the passageway and felt along the side until it suddenly died off. I heard a feminine groan emit from the darkness.

My eyes widened.

THERE WAS SOMEBODY IN THE SECRET PASSAGEWAY!

I silently backed up and exited the passageway and ran directly into my Mom.

"What are you doing up, Cammie?" She asked me.

"I couldn't sleep and decided to wonder. I found a new passageway and there's somebody in it." I told her, still finding it unbelievable that somebody had gotten past all of the security of the academy.

My mom's eyes widened and she quickly grabbed a flashlight from her office and came back to me.

"Show me." She commanded. I nodded and opened up the passageway again and led her into it. When we got to the ending of the little hallway, my mom shined the light into the area.

There was a old battered bed with a small girl in a red hood on it, seemingly unconscious.

"Help me get her to the infirmary." My mom told me. I nodded and we went to opposite sides of the bed and lifted up the small girl.

Who was surprisingly light.

We carried her slowly out of the passageway and took her to the infirmary. When we got there, we slowly set her down on a bed and got a nurse from the nurses station.

"Look this young girl over and inform me of anything that you find." My mom told the nurse.

The nurse gave a solemn nod and my mom turned towards me.

"Go to bed." She told me.

"What?" I asked her.

"Go to bed. We don't know who this girl is, and we don't need to put you close to somebody who could potentially be working for the Circle." She told me.

Oh.

I nodded and went to my dorm. As I slipped in, my friends were all sitting on their beds and staring at me.

"Where have you been?" Liz asked me with tears in her eyes.

"I couldn't sleep and so I went walking around the academy." I told her.

"Then why were you at the infirmary?" Macey asked me.

"I found a new passageway and inside was an unconscious girl who was in pain so me and my mom took her to the infirmary." I told her.

"Why are you wearing white?" Bex asked me.

"I honestly have no idea." I told her. "Can we just go to bed now?"

We all climbed into our beds as the information that I jut gave sank into their heads. I knew I was was going to have a troubled sleep now.

There was one thought going through my head as I fell into a fitful sleep.

Why would a girl be unconscious in a passageway in the academy that even I didn't know about?
