Sonic teaches Cream Guitar
Chapter 2: Sonic Underground (Ft. Sonic Comic Characters)
...
Upon seeing more surprises from Sonic, Cream hadn't seen one or more things about Sonic.
For instance, he wasn't an alone child. He has his brother Manic, who plays Drums, and his sister, Sonia, who plays Piano and Keytar. Even more? They were from Parallel Universes, something the Mario Universe never had- wait, nevermind. Mario's Universe also Parallel Universes as well. (Examples: Super Smash Brothers, Paper Mario, Mario RPG, Donkey Kong, Strikers, etc.)
Back to the topic, Cream had never seen Sonic's family in person because they were always on the run from something, and even if there WAS anything Sonic could do, he wouldn't dare alter the course of history. According to both Eggman and E Gadd, this would tear the fabric of space and time into a destructive reality, even though Eggman wouldn't mind having a team of Robotniks taking over the world, but then again, THESE ARE THE BEST EGGMEN, the slimy scummiest beings beyond the modern Eggman.
However, E Gadd made a portal where everyone can visit this plane without disturbing anything, for this world was set as the Table Plane and the Master Dimension, while the connecting Dimensions were Slave Dimensions locked under the Master Code.
Mario didn't mind Sonic having his friends over, despite Sonic having WAAAAAAYY over one hundred friends. The more the merrier, he said, and so, Sonic had been introducing the rest of his furry fellows, who also got the Nintendo Treatment of having a remastered body. (The choice to imagine them as Humans or an anthropomorphic model with better graphics is up to you.) Even the omes who were slain in battle, were back and here in the Master Dimension to live as there was no afterlife in their universes, and so, they reside in the Mushroom Kingdom.
As much as Cream hated death with mo revival, seeing old friends being brought back here, and here to stay with extra lives and an option to come back using the Game Over Menu.
Sonic even introduced the Comic Friends to Cream and how Mario and his friends shaped the Sonic Universes, such as the introduction to the Luna Emeralds, the Power ups, Sports, and Party Games, including the Smash Brothers Tournament, where they can watch Sonic take everything from those who dared be defiant of his worth in battle. After all, Sonic was the ONLY ONE to outspeed the Blue Falcon, and even beat it in a race with two or more laps ahead. (Check the Death Battle Feature where he outlasted a Black Hole by running faster than it for 20 seconds in Sonic Colors, but nobody pay attention to the victory feats, because both Mario and Sonic were equal in power and were very versatile in their own ways, but please do not count their movies or comics [You can trust their mangas] as their true power. Examples: Sonic has tons of Wisps at his disposal, while Mario can carry a lot of items, proven in the Wii Games and proven once more in Bowser's Fury. Please DM me for more of this conversation, I can go on forever with this.)
Back to the topic, Cream ALSO didn't know, while Sonic played guitar for both Manic and Sonia, that his Guitar also comes with Bass Strings, making it a 10 stringed guitar in a skinny neck that only Sonic's fingers could play. But of course, Cream could play it, too, that was if she only tried to play anything with more than 6 strings and 4 strings that didn't matter and vise versa. According to Cream, this was a "Duo Class Mechaninstrument with Soul Powered Cannons and Self-Powered Electricity and a Speakerless Amplifier", pretty unique for a guitar that acts like a gun and an instrument.
"Yeah, I have long seen this baby since the days of a fat and creepy Egghead that turned the city into ruins..." Sonic awkwardly scratched his scalp.
"I guess that's why they called it Sonic UNDERGROUND! Right, Mister Sonic?!" asked Cream.
"Yeah, you bet!" Manic replied, petting the little Rabbit. "You know, Sonic, it's been a long time since we've played anything! Why don't you say we play something together like the good ole days?!"
"Eh, why not?" replied Sonic. "But as we play, mind if I teach Cream the basics to a guitar?"
"Sure! You can teach the little cutie a thing or two!" Sonic played random keys on her Keytar while Manic imagined the drums right in front of him as he wacked the air in a pattern where a crafty drummer can calculate in any moment, even on a high pressuring stage full of people.
"Why don't we start with this one?" Sonic handed Cream his weaponized guitar.
"WHOA Whoa whoa, Sonic!" Manic nearly smacked his leg with his left drumstick. "You're not gonna let her play on THAT guitar, are you?!"
"What's the worse that could happen?" Asked Sonic.
Manic and Sonia looked at each other and then at Cream, worryingly, thinking if she found out how does Sonic's Guitar fire anything, the results would be that much of a catastrophe.
"Alright, now show me how do you strum!" Sonic ordered.
"But I never strummed on a guitar, before." Cream looked at Sonic with confusion.
"It's easy!" Sonic replied. "Imagine spreading some Chili on the board of the guitar! But be careful were you place your hands, or you'll strike the whammy bar!"
"Okay!" Cream took a deep breath, and waited to get used to... "spreading chili sauce on the board of the guitar", otherwise known as Sonic's hungry. Had he ate anything yet? Cream thought to herself. But she shrugged it off and strummed a chord like the metaphor explained it to be. Instead of a gentle note like someone would expect from an unplugged guitar, it was a strong distorted chord! Cream felt powerful, in fact, a bit too powerful... Cream covered her ears by folding them to cover her ear holes.
"Awwwwww..." Manic, Sonic and Sonia awed as Cream's shyness. It looked like this was her first note strummed on a guitar, and it was distorted.
"You got it there, little rookie!" Sonic pat Cream gently that she released her ears. "No need to be scared! You did great on your first try! Why not gimme another strum?!"
"O - okay, Mister Sonic." Cream took her time and strummed another chord, but this one felt less terrifying and a bit more enjoyable. "Oh.."
"See?" replied Sonic.
You see, before Cream knew about guitars, Link was playing notes on his guitar, in his Zora form, when Cream was at the beach. When Cream heard the notes, she was hooked onto them and explored of where did the notes came from. Link introduced her to a Ukulele, which Cream never got to play because Big the Cat crushed it with his body when he was attempting to catch Froggy after it swallowed a slinky, and for some reason, did not felt harmed by it. But even then, Cream imagined playing the Ukulele, using her imagination to understand the basics. The closer to the base of the instrument, the more higher it will sound. The closer to the knobs of the instrument, the lower the sound would be on the scale of that octave. The string that sounded deeper was the one closest to her reach while the further ones contained higher pitched strings.
So maybe... if she could do the same thing about guitars, that'll probably be more than enough to help. After all, she knew how to press keys on the neck.
And so, Cream's third strum was not the same basic chords, but rather, a higher tune. This impressed the Sonic Family by A LOT!
"Wow, Cream, you're a natural!" Manic complemented.
"Thank you!" Cream smiled as she kept playing, and using her imagination, she quickly learned how to play guitar as she would to her old Ukulele, that was if Big hadn't crushed it.
The way Cream played Sonic's weaponized guitar felt dangerously joyous. However, everyone could tell that Cream was still slow, well, at a medium pace, if you would say.
"The kid's a natural!" Sonia said amazed by Cream's hidden talent.
"Mister Sonic?" Asked Cream.
"Yes, Cream?" asked Sonic.
"Would you mind if you and your siblings can play a song with me?" Asked Cream. "If that's too much to ask, that's fine, too."
"Actually, we've been DYING to play anything together." replied Sonic. "What kind of song were you thinking of playing?"
"Just follow my lead!" Cream winked at Sonic.
"Woahoho!" Manic looked impressed by Cream's growing radical attitude. "We got a lead guitarist, here!"
"I guess you'll be the bassist, Sonic!" Sonic placed the strap around her shoulder that was connected to her keyboard.
"Alright!" Sonic replied happily. "But before that... Cream, may I have my guitar back?"
"Oh... Okay..." Cream felt a little bummed. "What will I be playing with?"
"With this baby!" Sonic unlocked the case and revealed his signature band guitar that he played with the Diamond Superstars. Cream's eyes glittered! This was Sonic's Guitar! This was her first shot!
As Cream strapped herself with the guitar, she practiced playing, and this guitar was MUCH more nimble than the weapon. Sonic helped plug the guitar into an amp.
"Alright! Lead the way, New Lead Guitarist!" Sonic signalled Cream as Manic finished setting his Drum Kit.
Cream practiced playing strings, and then began to sing and play.
(Familiar Song incoming)
(Cream)
Cream played her guitar gently while singing a familiar song.
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep,
Dreaming about the things that we could be,
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard,
Said no more counting dollars,
We'll be counting stars,
Yeah, we'll be counting... stars..."
The band began playing as a whole as Manic played the drums with Sonia as the synths with Sonic playing along Cream as the Bassist. Cream kept singing.
"I see this life, like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
And in my face is flashing signs
Seek it out and ye shall find
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told"
The band kept playing smoothly while Cream sang so cutely and so talented.
"I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing
And I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive"
The band kept playing the song as Cream sang the chorus.
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars"
(Cream and Sonic)
Sonic joined in the chorus with Cream, using his Rockstar voice. (As seen in Sonic Adventure DX.)
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars!
Yeah..."
(Cream)
Cream kept singing the song with the Sonic Family as the backup singers.
"I feel your love and I feel it burn
Down this river, every turn
Hope is our four-letter word
Make that money, watch it burn
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told
And I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly"
(Cream, Sonic, Manic and Sonia)
The whole group sang together as they played in unison.
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars"
Manic played the drums as the buildup happened.
"Oh, take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned"
(Cream)
Cream sang gently to the bridge.
"Everything that kills me...
Makes me feel alive"
(Cream, Sonic, Manic and Sonia)
The group bursted out singing and playing as one, once more!
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars"
(Manic and Sonia)
Manic and Sonia sang the outro as the group stopped playing at the end.
"Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned
Take that money, watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I've learned."
"That was something!" Sonia wiped a sweat from her brow.
"Yeah! Talk about a ROCKIN time!" Manic pumped a fist into the air.
"Nice choice of song, Cream!" Sonic pat Cream once more. "Also, nice playing back there! I might as well let you keep that guitar!"
"REALLY, MISTER SONIC?!" Cream leaped for joy. "OH, THANK YOU! THANK YOU, MISTER SONIC! I PROMISE I WON'T LET YOU DOWN!"
"Alright, Cream!" Sonic gave a thumbs up. "Take good care of it! It costs a fortune!"
"You can count on me, Mister Sonic!" Cream gave a salute as to show her loyalty and her responsibility to take care of the guitar.
And so, began Cream's new life as a guitarist, well, a beginner guitarist. But who knows? Maybe she'll be in a huge gig. Maybe she'll be in a gig, with Sonic!
