POV: Percy

When Percy woke up he was feeling quite down , his head was burning up and his whole body felt sore. He knew that he had a fever. He could feel himself burning up on the inside but still shivering . After an hour or so his little sister Estelle came to his room wobbling with a sad face . She started crying and said that she had hurt her foot and it was hurting really badly . Percy felt helpless; he had always tried to keep Estelle the happiest since she was born . She was so precious to Percy that he would give up the world to save her ,but given the circumstances he could neither move nor speak . When Estelle saw that Percy had neither rushed to her or spoke anything moreover he didn't even rise from his bed she knew that he was not well . He always spoke to her even if he was unwell, but today there was nothing . He was shivering under the blanket covers and his skin was burning up . Estelle ran down to get her mom .

When their mom Sally came up the stairs with his stepdad Paul to check his temperature she discovered that he had a 104 degree fahrenheit fever. He was devastated and honestly a bit happy as that meant that he did not have to go down the block collecting money for his school . After sometime he was feeling better than before after drinking his mom's magic pumpkin soup but he was still seriously unwell. At Least he could speak now . His first actions were to tell Annabeth that he was unwell so she would know that he could not go down the block . Part of him wanted Annabeth to care for him but the sensible part knew that this meant that he had to work extra after he was well.

POV : ANNABETH

When Annabeth sent that text message saying she did not care she was feeling really bad , but she knew that she had to do it in order to protect her secret . She could not be seen as someone to pity on . She had to be strong all the time for her sake , and her brothers. [ A LITTLE BACKSTORY ABOUT ANNABETH : When she was just 7 she ran away from home becoz she felt like she was too good for her family, She had even found her own family her 2 best friends her 2 former best friends , but few years later , one day her little brother Matthew found her , when she saw him her eyes filled with tears of love those little brothers of hers were the only family she ever loved except her friends , When he told her the life changing news , her parents were dead , there was no one at home now . Matthew and Matt were very brave; they worked small errands to earn money from which they ate food . When she heard this she started crying .. breaking down for every bad thing she did not cry for, her running away from home , her best friends getting killed,her starving for days . She immediately went to the house which was now hers to own . She was by then 14 and she started working part time to pay off for the food and expenditure . She is now 17 and working a 9-5 job that paid her a sum of 6000$ a month.] That is the reason that she had told percy to do the job for her , she was too busy working so she could not do her job for the school . She quickly went to made dinner for her brothers as it was their birthday today, so she had to make something special for them . After eating dinner which consisted of spaghetti and meatballs which was an upgrade from their usual soy sauce and rice she went to bed . Thinking about Percy . She could not help but think about how difficult she was on Percy , he seemed like a really nice and charming guy. But she could not tell him that or he would know . She could not let anyone near her . Next morning she woke up to a text from Percy saying that he had a fever of 104 degrees and he could not go to collect the money and he was sorry! when she heard this she rushed up her bed wrote a note for her brothers and left them some cash . She knew that on weekends they woke up late and they would be very happy to take out as they did not do that very often . comed her hair and went to Percy's place . She was starting to tear up on the way as it was her fault that percy was on the bed . When she reached over to his house she wiped her tears and bought a get well soon card and rang the bell . His mom opened the door and welcomed her in. Mrs Jackson was a beautiful, tall, slender and graceful woman in her late thirties , though she looked a lot younger. She had black hair just like his son's . The whole house smelled of cookies and cakes, she knew that Mrs. Jackson and liked to bake , so that explained the smell . When she asked that how did she know who she was as this was the first time her coming to the Jackson's , she answered with a laugh and said that she had made a guess. Her heart was telling her to rush to Percy but her mind told her it will not be polite to do so . When Mrs Jackson asked her for food she politely declined and asked to see Seaweed br- UH Percy . His mother gave her an amused look and then proceeded to guide her to his room and closed the door behind them . Only his small sister and him were in the room . Percy was not doing well but she could not help but stare at his perfect face . His bright and sparkling eyes now closed his mischievous grin now replaced with a worried frown , his face sweating but still shivering . She almost started to tear up again when his little sister noticed her . She introduced herself as Estelle and was 14 years old. Estelle was very cute with large brown eyes unlike her brothers whose eyes were green .When Annbeth introduced herself Estelle's face tensed up and all the trace of friendliness she first saw was gone , it was replaced with a mixed set of emotions , anger , hurt, unbelievable she started to ask many painful Questions such as - why did she let his big brother work so much ? , why did she looked so worried after she made her ill , all these questions hit her like a punch to her gut , but she pushed those questions aside as she knew that Estelle had said those with emotions but they didn't hurt any less, and when she started to ask that how was percy now - Estelle said the most painful words ever to her more painful than the death of her parent - "WHY DID SHE COME HERE TO ASK HOW WAS PERCY ! WHO WAS SHE TO HER ! A PAIN ! GO AWAY!" Estelle said those words with so much pain that she too started to tear up. she pushed past her and rushed out of the door and slammed the door behind her . She could not move and started to tear up , shocked she walked beside the bed to sit . She hadn't noticed that Percy had woken up and heard of Estelle's outburst .He stared at her with a worried frown , he started to speak but he was interrupted by Annabeth who said those words like they had a bitter taste to them - " No , don't defend me if that's what you are gonna do , it was true you know, i made you sick , I was the one who told you to do the tasks .Estelle has every right to say the words she said , if anyone did that to my brothers given my circumstan- she quickly wiped her tears and got up , she had said too much . She quickly shoved a thermometer in his mouth so that he could not say anything else . When the waiting time was over he checked the temperature and was shocked to see that the temperature was 102 degrees! I don't blame you, you know croaked a voice from the bed . Percy had spoken ! but it was still my fault she replied , it was my fault i should have skipped my job , i should have helped you , i should have been a better partner for this project , - Stop just stop what are you saying i don't blame you , you did not have to skip your job - wait job ? you are working ? Percy asked nodded her head solemnly , her eyes staring into space , Percy's words did not seem to make her feel better , it was on the contrary making her feel worse. She kept repeating the words Estelle had said to her in her mind . She kept thinking that all the things Estelle said were correct .She thought that this was probably his attempt to make her feel a little better - Annabeth? Annabeth did u hear me ? Hm? huh o what ? sorry i zoned out. Ya i noticed that he croaked, she felt bad he was already unwell and she was making him feel more tired . She then realised that she had tears running down her face , she stood up abruptly , wiped her tears and mumbled about going home Percy tried to stop her but she ignored him and went down the hall to Mrs Jackson and told her that she was leaving . Mrs Jackson insisted on her having something to eat but Annabeth was stubborn that she wouldn't eat. She said sorry for declining but I have to go , and brushed past her. When she was barely out of the door Mrs Jackson hurried behind her and handed her a huge pot of yummy looking Lasagna made her promise to eat it and went inside . When Annabeth reached home at around noon her brothers were playing around she mindlessly just placed the pot of lasagna on the table and went to her room . That's when she knew it . She could not keep it in any longer she knew she had to tell someone about the life . That's when Percy's face came in front of her .
