The next morning, it was the start of Rebecca's first day as a new student and the sun was shining and a few of its rays peaked through the curtain in her room. Rebecca felt one of the suns rays against her cheek and tossed and turned in her bed before she then eventually got out of bed and rubbed her eyes and yawned as she said, "me first day as a new student...I wonder how well it will go? Guess I'll just have to see."

Before she then walked over to a mirror and frowned a little at her reflection as she saw how messy her hair was before she said to herself, "I at least have to make me self look presentable if I wanna make a good impression with folks." so she sat down at her dresser and started brushing her hair and straightening it, hoping she would leave a good enough impression with people on her first day as a new student at least. Once she was finished, she then opened her the door of her room and slowly stepped out and saw a few students busy walking down the hallway to their first class for the day and Rebecca took a deep breath as she thought to herself, "You can do this Rebecca. What could go wrong?" before also started to walk down the hallway towards class.

If she could be honest with herself, Rebecca was feeling more than a little nervous, as she saw almost all of the other studets looking at her, not knowing if they were welcoming or judging, and she was standing outside her first classroom when a boy with short brown hair and wearing some red tinted glasses who was also slightly taller than her, walked over to her and smiled as he said, "It's not as bad as you might be thinking, trust me I know as I used be like you once when I first came here, I'm Scott by the way."

Rebecca smiled back at Scott as she replied, "Rebecca. But ye can call me Becca since I prefer that more than Rebecca." and Scott just nodded his head as he said to Rebecca,

"Ok umm, Becca, we should hurry up and get to class before we are late."

Once they got into class, there was a tall looking person standing at the front of the class who smiled at Rebecca and held out a hand as they said, "Ah, you must be the new student joining us, my name is Hank. And it's a pleasure to meet you." and to Rebecca, Hank looked different to what she had seen of him on the news as here he looked like a normal person, before she perked a brow at him and shook his hand as she replied,

"It's nice to meet ya too sir, I'm Rebecca LeBeau. Aren't ya supposed to have blue fur or something?"

Hank then smiled at Rebecca as he said, "My normal appearance can be...a little intimidating for new students, so I use a suppressant to help make me look a little more...welcoming shall we say." before he then turned his attention to the rest of the students in the room as he said, "Listen up students, we have a new student joining us today, Rebecca LeBeau. I hope you all can make her feel welcomed." he then looked back at Rebecca as he said to her, "You can take your seat next to Jean over there." as he pointed to the empty seat next to Jean Grey.

So Rebecca made her way over to the seat next to Jean and sat down before smiling a little at Jean, before Hank then began his lecture, "Today students, we will be learning about…" and Rebecca had tuned out for most of Hank's speech, only really paying attention whenever he talked about something that interested her as Jean leaned over to Rebecca and said to her,

"I see you met Scott already, Becca."

And Rebecca smiled and nodded her head as she quietly replied, "Yeah, I kinda bumped into the lad on me way to class, told me that things weren't as bad as I thought they might be, since he used to feel like me once when he first started." and Jean let out a small giggle as she said,

"Well, he's not wrong as you will get used to it once you settle in."

However, Jean's giggle from earlier didn't go unnoticed by Hank as he looked at her and said, "Miss Grey, would you care to share with the rest of the class what you find so funny?" and Jean shook her head as she replied,

"No sir."

Hank then said to Jean, "Then in future, I would advise you to keep your jokes to yourself or away from my lessons, please miss Grey." and Jean nodded her head as she replied,

"I will remember that, for next time sir."

Seeing Jean get in trouble almost made Rebecca let out her own giggle, but luckily she managed to keep it in as Hank resumed his speech which earned her a playful tap on the shoulder from Jean.

Later…

After class, Rebecca and the others made their way to the training room which was hidden underneath the school, where they were greeted by Logan or as he was better known as Wolverine as he said to them, "Alright, today you will be training against each other. You won't always be fighting machines so it's best you all learn how to fight against each other. As sometimes we may have to go up against people who are just like us."

Everyone then nodded their heads before Logan stopped Rebecca and handed her something as he said to her, "I think you might appreciate this a little better than what you have, kid." and Rebecca smiled at Logan before she perked a brow in slight confusion as she replied,

"Thanks, but...I don't get it. This is the same as me staff I have already."

Logan then let out a small chuckle as he said, "Charles wanted to give you something you felt familiar with, but with some small improvements, such as now you don't have to carry the thing around with you all the time as it can retract to fit inside your jacket or something. Why not try it out?" and Rebecca smiled as she nodded her head and replied,

"yeah, I guess I will try me new staff out."

So Rebecca decided to train with Scott, and they stood apart from each other and Rebecca extended her staff before she said to Scott, "Alright then lad, let's see what ya can do. Don't feel bad if ya get beaten by a girl." and Scott smiled at Rebecca as he replied,

"You sure about that Becca? I won't be easy to take down."

Before they then started training as Scott fired some lasers from his eyes at Rebecca and Rebecca spun her staff in her hands and deflected the blasts before she tried to get closer, and at first she refused to use her own powers partly because her past haunted her a little but mostly because she was afraid of hurting someone. But after one of Scott's lasers hit her in her chest and sent her flying back across the room, she grit her teeth a little and took a few playing cards out from her pocket as her eyes began to glow a violet colour as did the cards in her hand, before she launched them at Scott as the cards flew through the air towards him and a couple of the cards fell slightly short of their target as they landed by Scott's feet causing him to jump out of the way as they exploded before the last card hit him in the chest and exploded knocking back as fell backwards across the ground.

After she saw Scott hit the ground, her eyes slowly went back to their normal colour and she smiled a little as she said, "How does it feel that ya got ya arse kicked by a girl?" but when she noticed Scott wasn't moving, she said to him, "Quit playing around would ya, I didn't hit ya that hard." and when Scott still wasn't showing any signs of movement, her face dropped as she looked horrified and thought the worst had happened so she ran out of the room, Jean noticed Rebecca running past her and tried calling out to her,

"BECCA, WAIT!"

After Training…

Rebecca sat in her room on her bed with her knees against her face, tears slowly fell from her eyes as she cried, as Jean tried to look for Rebecca she could hear crying and followed the sound to Rebecca's room and knocked on the door and waited for a response as she said, "Becca? Are you in there?" before Jean then heard a muffled response from inside,

"Go away! I've hurt enough folks today."

Jean then slowly opened the door and walked inside, before Rebecca briefly looked up to see who it was as she said, "Are ya deaf? I said go awa- oh, it's you lass. What did ya come and see me for?" and Jean smiled a little as she sat down on the side of Rebecca's bed before she replied,

"I came to check on you Becca, after you ran out of the training room. What's wrong?"

Rebecca looked at Jean and frowned a little and sniffled before she said, "Ye can read minds can't ya? Then ya already know what I'm thinking." and Jean leaned over and wrapped her arms around Rebecca as she replied,

"It's alright Becca, you haven't killed Scott, he's going to be fine. You just knocked him out that's all."

And Rebecca wanted to push Jean away, but something about the way they were in each other's arms felt comforting to her and so she smiled slightly and sniffled a little as she said, "At least I know the lad will be ok. Things like this are part of the reason why I am afraid of using my power sometimes, because I can't tell between if someone is knocked out or if I've killed someone."

The two girls had grown close with each other since they first met and seemed to form a sort of sisterly bond with each other as Jean smiled at Rebecca as she said, "It's ok to be afraid sometimes Becca, to be honest I used to afraid when my power first awakened, but the professor showed me how to control my power and not be afraid of it." and Rebecca wiped a few tears from her eyes as she smiled back at Jean and replied,

"Well, at least I know I wasn't the only one who was scared of their power, and it feels like we have grown closer with each other since I first met ya, and I think we can be good friends."

Jean then let out a small giggle as she said, "Yeah, we have gotten closer since we first met each other Becca. And I feel like you are like the sister I never had as I was the only child in my family, what about you?" and Rebecca frowned a little as she replied,

"Oh, I...I was an orphan, I never knew me parents lass as I grew up in a orphanage. But yer like the sister I wish I had."

Then Jean frowned a little as she said, "Oh...I'm sorry Becca." and this time Rebecca wrapped her arms around Jean as she gave her a hug and smiled as she replied,

"Don't be lass, ya didn't know and...I never told anyone that before either, yer lucky to have people who love ya and care about ya as I never had that privillage growing up. I still find it hard to trust people sometimes but...I feel like I can trust ya with anything."

Jean then smiled as she stood up from Rebecca's bed before she said, "It's getting late, we should think about getting some rest so that we are ready for class tomorrow." and Rebecca smiled at Jean as she replied,

"Yer right lass, and...thanks for talking with me, I feel a little better after that. See ya tomorrow lass, goodnight."

And Jean smiled and nodded her head as she walked towards the door of Rebecca's room before looking back at Rebecca as she said, "I'm glad you feel better after our talk Becca, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight."

A/N: Sorry if this is a little shorter than what you were expecting. Rebecca has had her first day as a new student at the Xavier Institute and has made some friends in Scott Summers and Jean Grey. How will her next day go? Will she be part of the main X-men or will she better suited in the X-force? Stay tuned to find out.
