Empty spaces, what are we living for?
It was all gone. Every last bit of him. All the hoodies he'd leant her, the gifts he'd brought her, the notes he'd slipped to her. All gone, as though they were never there at all.
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score, on and on.
He threw the last bit of her stuff out and looked around the room. Nothing. Nothing was left that would remind him of her. It hurt. It really hurt.
Does anybody know what we are looking for?
They had thought it was love. They would be high school sweethearts, they would marry, have kids, a dog, a white picket fence. None of that was there anymore. In one decision it had all been erased, so now what? Neither of them knew.
Another hero, another mindless crime.
He glared at Kitty as she comforted Marley. Kitty had been awful to Marley, but now she was acting like Marley's saviour, going out of her way to spend time Marley, inviting her over, giving her frequent hugs and affirming words. Kitty Wilde was acting like Marley's hero, but he knew the truth, Kitty Wilde was anything but a hero.
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime.
At nationals she danced with him because she'd had too. He'd been her partner in rehearsal long before he'd been her ex boyfriend, and switching partners simply wasn't practical, so she plastered a smile on her face and did the steps she'd been taught. As long as the judges didn't know their partnership was a charade then it didn't matter. This wasn't about them anyway.
Hold the line Does anybody want to take it anymore?
He sighed. Kitty was glaring at him again. Ryder had already given him lectures that day about how he should have thought about Marley. He was sick of everyone telling him he was so wrong all the time. He was sick of the looks and the stares. He knew he'd made a mistake and he was paying for it with the loss of the women he loved. He didn't need their judgement as well.
The show must go on The show must go on, yeah.
When the New Direction alumni came back she pretended she was happy in glee club. None of then seemed to notice she was putting on an act, well none accept Santana. Santana had approached her to ask her she was, and she made it clear she knew something was wrong with Marley, but then she'd gotten distracted by Brittany and Marley had been able to fly under the radar.
Inside my heart is breaking.
He knew his brother was onto him. Puck clearly knew something was wrong, but he forced a smile, ignored his problems and encouraged Puck to pursue Quinn knowing it would be the perfect distraction and that his brother would stop giving him pity filled looks.
My makeup may be flaking. But my smile, still, stays on.
She reapplied her concealer for the hundredth time that day. She could still barely look at Jake without weeping, but she wasn't going to let anyone see that. Once her makeup was on, she forced a smile and walked back into the club. Everything was fine, at least on the outside.
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance.
Jake had made a decision. He knew he'd made a mistake, but he still needed closure. He needed to talk to her. He needed to know what she was feeling.
Another heartache, another failed romance, on and on.
She'd humoured him when he'd asked if he could talk too her, but when he'd told her he wanted closure, she'd told him in no uncertain terms that the conversation was well and truly over.
Does anybody know what we are living for? I guess I'm learning.
It still hurt as they reached their final glee club session. He was mourning so many things. The club he loved, the familiarity that glee provided and of course his relationship with Marley.
I must be warmer now I'll soon be turning, round the corner now.
She would not cry. Marley Rose would not cry during glee, not in front of Jake Puckerman, she would not give him the satisfaction. So she held on and the second she was able too she got out of there and let the tears escape as she turned the corner and disappeared into the corridor.
Outside the dawn is breaking. But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free.
Walking out of the last glee club session Jake felt physical pain. Everything he'd loved about McKinley High he had lost.
It was all gone. The show must go on. The show must go on.
Marley walked out of the last glee club session with her head held high. Glee was over, her relationship with Jake was over but slowly she'd get back to being okay again. She'd carry on until she felt like herself again.
Inside my heart is breaking. My makeup may be flaking. But my smile, still, stays on.
Jake shot his brother a small smile as he pretended to listen to whatever Puck was talking about. Quinn he thought. Puck always seemed to be talking about Quinn and how happy she made him.
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies. Fairy tales of yesterday, grow but never die I can fly, my friends.
She remembered the stories her Mom would read to her as a child. Where the princess found the prince and they lived happily ever after. They had seemed so real to her. It was all she had dreamed of, growing up finding her prince and living happily ever after. That illusion had been shattered before she'd even started dating, but now it was shattered even more. Any hope of a fairytale she'd had, was long gone.
The show must go on. The show must go on.
When Sue Sylvester had gathered together every former glee club member left at McKinley they'd known something was wrong. When she'd told them all but Kitty had until the end of the week to transfer school he had hardly been shocked. The last shred of his normality, McKinley High, had been taken away from him.
I'll face it with a grin I'm never giving in. On with the show.
She plastered a smile onto her face and walked down the corridor. Today was her last day at McKinley. She'd never return after she walked out the doors and she no longer cared. She would hold onto her friends, and leave the pain McKinley had brought her in the rearview mirror.
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill.
Jake put on his best game face as he walked the corridors of his new school. He had one year until he graduated. All he had to do was survive his senior year. He could do it. He knew he could.
I have to find the will to carry on. On with the show.
Show Marley carried on. She had to carry on. She transferred to the same school as her friend Unique. She stuck with Unique. She survived the year and by September she was on her way to music school. Her first heartbreak was over, her fairytale was beginning.
Show must go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.
