Yugioh Arc-V: Hero with Eyes of Blue

Waking up in the Arc-V anime as a Seto Kaiba clone is not how he expected his day to go, nor was it his plan to be the hero of the story, dude just wanted to be the King of Games of this world quite honestly.

2. Blue-Eyes vs Odd-Eyes

Me, Yuya, and Yuzu chatted on our way to You Show Academy with Yuya asking questions galore about my deck, "So cool, you have a Blue-Eyes White Dragon Deck! You also had a tuner monster right? Are you a Synchro user?" I just shake my head; I had checked and even though I had a Blue-Eyes deck I didn't have any extra deck or even any Ritual cards for that matter. I was kind of disappointed but considering how rare Blue-Eyes are in this world and how difficult extra deck summons seemed to be as well, it was completely understandable. I begin to explain my deck to them, "Blue-Eyes are rare cards, their extra deck counterparts even more so, my deck focuses on special summoning and supporting my Blue-Eyes White Dragons." Yuzu comforts me, "That's amazing as well, not everyone can just use Blue-Eyes cards like that, I would say you're a master at handling the Blue-Eyes cards!" I visibly smile at her words before putting my poker face back on which doesn't go unnoticed by the two. Yuya slaps me on the back, "You don't have to be so serious with us, having fun and smiling is what entertainment dueling is all about!" I just shrug and honestly reply back that, "I only smile if it's something I find worth smiling about." Yuya just laughs and says back, "Well that's fine too, after all that just makes your smiles all the more special!" I honestly smile and laugh at such a childish 'friendship is power' like statement which causes them to both turn red as tomatoes for some reason which worries me, "Hey, you two ok? You two look like you have a fever or something." Yuzu and Yuya just stutter back at me, "I-Its n-n-nothing Seto just caught us off guard is all" I just shrug which gets an unexpected sigh of relief from the two, I guess they still don't fully trust me…

Reaching our destination we came to a large building that honestly reminded me more of a kindergarten, which actually makes sense now that I think about it. I imagine they have a large amount of younger students seeing as they focus on the fun parts of dueling, which no doubt works as good advertisement to parents trying to introduce their kids to dueling. Once we get in Yuya and Yuzu are swarmed by some kids which confirmed my suspicions as they start talking one of the kids looks up at me and stretches his arms out. I pick him up out of habit from playing with the kids at the orphanage which makes the kid smile and say, "Wow! You're really tall it's so high from up here!" I laugh and offer to carry him on my shoulder which he is reluctant to do, "But I'm pretty big, won't it hurt to carry me on just one shoulder?" I laugh and tell him that "it's fine, I'm pretty strong!" he happily accepts as we start chatting. The kid introduces himself as Tatsuya and asks if I'm friends with Yuya and Yuzu since I came with them. I can't stop myself from bragging as I proudly proclaim, "Of course! I saved them from some jerk by beating the guy in a duel using my Blue-Eye White Dragon!" Stars form in the boys eyes as the other kids hear my boasting and start to swarm me as well asking me multiple questions such as, "You use Blue-Eyes White Dragon?!, that gives me shivers!" and "You're like a hot-blooded hero!" I just laugh as I recount my duel with Sawatari which leads to Yuya and Yuzu laughing at my antics. Eventually a man who I assume is the principal or a teacher here rushes out from a corner and introduces himself. The man had a red and orange flame patterned gym jacket that matched his hair. And seemed to be burning with an indescribable amount of energy. The man laughs seeing how I've become a jungle gym for the kids with Tatsuya sitting on my right shoulder as a chubby boy who I guessed was Futoshi from his use of the word 'shivers' swung around like a monkey on my left arm which I had stretched out. The man introduces himself, "I'm Shuzo Hiragi, principal of You Show Academy and Yuzu's father!" he shakes my hand a little forcefully as he add, "Thanks for helping out Yuzu and Yuya here." I just give him a thumbs up, "No problem, if I'm going to be the future King of Games I have to be willing to help others after all." Shuzo laughs as he grabs my shoulder, "I heard you're thinking about joining You Show Academy!" I just nod back, "Yeah, most of the other Duel Schools in Paradise City seem to be too competitive for my tastes." Yuya and Yuzu both join in with a new friend who introduces himself, "I, the man Gogenzaka, welcome you Seto!" the big guy fist pumps. Shuzo pushes some papers in front of me, "These are the forms you have to fill out to join of course." I look the papers over quickly filling them out before handing them back. Yuya suddenly has an idea that he decides to share with me, "Hey, since you're a student now, why don't you have your first duel as a student with me!" I think it over, dueling the protagonist seems like bad luck, but its so early in the series that it should be fine, their aren't any stakes in this duel so it should be fine to just have a fun duel. I smile and make a guts pose, "I heard you use some find of special dragon right? Then let's compare dragons!" Yuya shouts back innocently unaware of my dirty joke, "Better prepare for the best action duel of your life!" I smile back before admitting, "That's great and all, but whats an action duel?" everyone face vaults all together as I just incredulously respond, "What?"

After having action duels explained to me as if I was a child, me and Yuya headed to the duel arena. The duel arena was huge, and I couldn't help but gawk that the amount of effort put into an arena meant for children's card games. The others shouted encouragement from the sidelines as we prepared to duel, "This duel is gonna be hot-blooded!" "I, the man Gogenzaka, am excited for this match!" "Shivers!" Me and Yuya turn to each other, "So, Seto, what kind of action field do you want?" I think carefully before answering, "Mausoleum of White." Yuya nods back smiling, "Then I'll go first." The field suddenly changes to a white room filled with large white pillars of what I can only assume is marble adorned with bright blue orbs.

We both ready ourselves before saying the action duel chant that they had taught me,

"Duelists locked in battle!"

"Kicking the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monster!"

"They storm this field!"

"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution in dueling"

Since card games on motorcycles at least.

The others watching the duel join in the chant,

"Action…"

We all shout together,

"Duel!"

[Seto LP: 4000]

[Yuya LP: 4000]

Card scatter across the field as we begin our action duel.

Yuya draws a card from his deck,

"I draw a card!"

Yuya looks at his hand and smiles before making his move.

"Looks like your out of luck!"

I raise an eyebrow at him

"I special summon Performapal Hip Hippo."

[Earth Attribute: Beast/Effect: Level 3: Attack 800: Defense 800]

"I then activate Hip Hippos effect to tribute summon Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"

[Dark Attribute: Dragon/Pendulum/Effect: Level 7: Attack 2500: Defense 2000]

The others start cheering,

"Wow! Yuya summoned Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon on his first turn!"

"I, the man Gogenzaka, am impressed!"

"Odd-Eye Pendulum Dragon gives me shivers!"

"Now that's a hot-blooded move!"

I start looking around for action cards.

Yuya ends his turn as I begin mine.

"I draw!"

I look at my hand and notice an Action Card nearby quickly grabbing it.

I smirk back at Yuya.

"It seems you're the one who's out of luck!"

Yuya readies himself on guard.

"I summon Kaibaman to the field."

[Light Attribute: Warrior/Effect: Level 3: Attack 200: Defense 700]

"I then activate his effect to special summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand by tributing him!"

[Light Attribute: Dragon: Level 8: Attack 3000: Defense 2500]

The others get even more excited and begin shouting out loud,

"Wow! Blue-Eyes White Dragon looks hot-blooded!"

"I, the man Gogenzaka, am impressed by this dragon!"

"Now both of their ace monsters are facing eye-to-eye, it's giving me shivers"

"Don't worry Yuya! You can still win; attack points don't always matter!"

I hop onto Blue-Eyes White Dragons back before gesturing towards Yuzu who made the last comment.

"She's right about that Yuya, it's really the card effects and how they're used that matters"

I grin at Yuya.

"So show me some of that entertainment dueling you love so much!"

Yuya fly's atop Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragons back towards an Action Card which he is able to reach at the last minute as I attack his monster.

"Go, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Burst Stream!"

Yuya interjects

"I activate the action card Extreme Sword!

Yuya reveals the Action Card

"This card allows my Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to gain a thousand attack points during this battle phase"

Yuzu cheers out loud.

"Yeah! Go Yuya!"

Noticing that she's the only one yelling she's blushes before sitting back down.

I easily counter his trick.

"I activate MY Action Card, Evasion, and use it to negate my own attack!"

Our dragons screech and scream horribly at each other.

"What's going on?"

We both look to see our dragons roaring at each other.

Yuya seems surprised, "It's almost like our dragons are raring to fight as well!"

I just shrug, "They are both eye color-based dragons, they might be siblings or something."

I awkwardly laugh at my own joke before ending my turn

Yuya just chuckles before beginning his second turn.

"I draw!"

Yuya looks to his hand then the field before making his move.

"I play the Action Card, Encore!"

I realize what he's about to do and quickly try to formulate a plan to stop it.

"I use Encore's effect to copy the effect of an Action Card on my graveyard, and I choose Extreme Sword, I then raise my Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragons attack by a thousand!"

"Now Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, attack his ace monster, Spiral Flame Strike!"

Yuya smiles like a child you just hot the full bucket of candy.

I sigh sadly, "Don't hold this against me please."

Yuya looks at me, "What do you mean?"

I smirk and proudly proclaim.

"I activate the effect of the Action Field Card to discard one normal monster from my deck and select one monster to gain the attack and defense points of that monster."

Yuya's eyes widen.

"I discard the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in my deck raising my Blue-Eyes White Dragon on the fields attack and defense."

I shout out, "Counter Burst Stream!"

Yuya and his dragon gets pushed away by the attack, but Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon still remains on the field.

[Seto LP: 4000]

[Yuya LP: 3700]

Yuya replies back in a fit of laughter, "It's okay to use the effects of Action Fields, Seto, that's what they're there for!"

I still end up apologizing, "Y-Yeah but it still feels really rude and unsportsman like."

Gogenzaka yells out from the stands, "I, the man Gogenzaka, also understand your sentiment!"

Yuya just smiles back and answers back, "You might like Gogenzaka's Fudo Dueling Style."

I just raise an eyebrow, "Fudo?"

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Yuya just shrugs, "You can ask Gogenzaka about it after the match."

Gogenzaka happily replies from the stands laughing proudly,

"I, the man Gogenzaka, would be honored to teach you about the Fudo Dueling Style afterwards!"

I just smile and point at him, "That's a promise big guy"

Gogenzaka smiles back.

Yuya sets a card before ending his turn which I take note of.

I look at the Action Card in my hand and prepare my plan.

"I draw!"

I look at the card in my hand and smirk.

"I again activate the effect of Mausoleum of White to discard another Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my deck."

Yuzu seems worried, "Oh no, now the only Blue-Eyes he has left is the one on the field."

Gogenzaka proudly proclaims, "I, the man Gogenzaka, do not doubt our new friends judgement!"

Yuzu seems to become less worried and calms down, "I guess your right…"

I then begin the next phase of my plan.

"I then activate the field spell Mausoleum of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon by banishing Mausoleum of White!"

"WHAT!"

Everyone starts screaming as Yuzu begins shaking her father, "Is he even allowed to do that!?"

Shuzo quickly pulls out a tablet and starts going over the rules and card effects.

"It seems he can…"

Everyone seems shocked at this.

"What! How!"

Shuzo clears his throat before explaining to everyone.

"Mausoleum of Blue-Eyes White Dragon's effect requires the user to have Mausoleum of White in their control."

Yuzu interrupts, "Then why can he use Mausoleum of White! It's an Action Field Spell, it doesn't belong to anybody!"

Shuzo calms her down and explains,

"Action Field spells count as being in BOTH duelists control, so as long as another card replaces it as an Action Field Spell after it's banished, such as Mausoleum of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, he can use that effect."

Everyone seems to calm down but are still left surprised at this turn of events.

After everyone calms down I continue with my master plan.

"The attack I gained from Mausoleum of White remains for the rest of the turn even if it's banished because of Mausoleum of whites effect."

"I then activate Mausoleum of Blue-Eyes White Dragon's effect and discard The White Stone of Ancients, now my Blue-Eyes White Dragon gains attack equal to the level of The White Stone of Ancients times five-hundred, thus raising my Blue-Eyes White Dragons Attack to forty-three hundred!"

Yuya looks worried but turns resolute.

"Just like Yuzu said, attack points don't matter!"

I smirk

"And do you remember what I said?"

Yuya's face shows surprise as I laugh maniacally.

"It's all about how you use their effects!"

"I activate the effect of The White Stone of Ancients from the graveyard to banish it and return one Blue-Eyes monster from my graveyard to my hand, and I choose Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

"I then normal summon Protector with Eyes of Blue."

[Light Attribute: Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect: Level 1: Attack 800: Defense 1300]

"I then activate his effect to special summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue to the field."

[Light Attribute: Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect: Level 1: Attack 0: Defense 0]

"Woah! two tuner monsters, is he gonna Synchro summon!"

I sweat drop as Yuzu explains to the others that I don't have any synchro monsters which seems to disappoint them a bit. I should look into getting some Synchro monsters sometime, I am rich now.

Protector with Eyes of Blue bows before me as Maiden with Eyes of Blue smiles at me. The two nod their heads as we prepare a combo.

"I activate Protector with Eyes of Blue's secondary effect to target an effect monster I control and send it to the graveyard, and I choose Maiden with Eyes of Blue"

"I then chain that with Maiden with Eye of Blues effect where when she is targeted by a cards effect she can special summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my graveyard."

I reach my hand out to Maiden with Eyes of Blue.

"Sacrifice of the Blue Eyes!"

Maiden with Eyes of Blue smiles sadly at me as she is sent to the graveyard, now I know how Seth felt. Blue-Eyes rises back from the dead and appears from where Maiden with Eyes of Blue stood.

"Now because of Protector with Eyes of Blue's effect I can special summon a Blue-Eyes monster from my hand, and I choose my third Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

Everyone in the stands gets super excited,

"Hot-blooded!"

"Shivers!"

"I, the man Gogenzaka, am heavily impressed by our new friends skills!"

"Oh no, Yuya…"

Yuzu seems worried about Yuya as I continue.

"Now my empowered Blue-Eyes White Dragon will attack your Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"

Yuya shouts out triumphantly,

"I activate my trap card, Magic Cylinder!"

My eyes widen completely from the name of the card he used.

"Magic Cylinder?! How do you have that card?!"

Yuya smiles back before answering,

"It's a gift from my dad."

Yuzu looks shocked before she whispers to herself,

"Yuya…"

I counter his trap with an Action Card,

"I activate my Action Card, Acceleration, which reduces all effect damage to zero!"

"Now Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Burst Stream!"

Yuya's Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is destroyed as Yuya is sent falling off of it, luckily, he pulls some acrobatics and lands safely which gets him a clap from me which he bows to magnificently to.

[Yuya LP: 1900]

"Now my second Blue-Eyes White Dragon Attacks you directly!"

Yuya activates an Action Card in response,

"I activate my Action Card, Zero Penalty, and make your second Blue-Eyes White Dragon's attack zero for the rest of this turn!"

I just smile he rushes for another Action Card.

"Then I'll finish this with my third Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Go! Burst Stream!"

Yuya runs as he is sent flying forwards by Blue-Eyes White Dragons attack.

"AHHHHH!"

Yuya falls to the ground.

[Seto LP: WIN]

[Yuya LP: 0]

Yuya sighs dejectedly as the Action Field dissipates, "Looks like you beat me."

I just give him a thumbs up and smile, "Considering I had the advantage with that Action Field Spell and that I figured out a loophole on the fly, you did pretty good."

Yuya just gets up, "Yeah, I guess so."

I just laugh, "Besides, those tricks and flips you pulled off were really entertaining!"

This gets a smile from Yuya who scratches his head in embarrassment as I compliment his acrobatics, we both shake hands after our match together.

"Good duel." Yuya says.

"You got that right." I easily reply.

As we're shaking hands, a brilliant white glow comes from my deck. I quickly look to find a new card that wasn't there before, "What's this doing in my deck?" Yuzu, Gogenzaka, and the others come up to us. The kids come up to me first "That was the most hot-blooded duel I've ever seen!", "It gave me shivers!", "It was amazing!" Yuzu looks to the card in my hand, "What's that card?" I just scratch my head, "I don't know, I just found it in my deck after me and Yuya's duel." Yuzu looks at the card before her eyes widen, "Yuya! Yuya, come look!" Yuya comes and looks at my card before yelling out, "A Pendulum card!?" the others turn their heads towards me, "A Pendulum card? Where did you get one of those Seto?" I just shrugged back, "I said I don't know, just appeared in my deck after the duel!" Yuya hands me back the card, "I guess I'm not the only Pendulum user now…"

I notice how Yuya's mood shifts and try to console him, "Hey, Yuya, just because I have a Pendulum card doesn't mean I know how to use it or that I will use it. I have to keep my deck synergy after all!" Yuya's face remains sulking, "Yeah, your right I guess…" I try to change the subject, "On a more important note, whats this Fudo Style I heard about?"

In the LDS control room an assistant appears before Reiji Akaba, "Sir, we noticed a large burst of Pendulum energy at the end of one of Yuya Sakaki's duels." Reiji turns to the assistant, "Bring up the duel." Reiji watches the duel between Yuya and the unknown person who's appearance is almost uncannily similar to that of himself. His eyes widen when he summon the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, "No, only he has those cards, what are they doing with him? Is he related to Academia?" He watches as the boy banishes and replaces the Action Field Spell which gains his attention as he questions whether that move is legal before coming to the horrifying realization after going over the rules and card effects that it is, but it seems annoyingly difficult and situational, perhaps he could use this as a strategy himself? The duel finishes with Reiji being impressed by the boys combo, as Yuya and the boy shake hands a light glows from the boys deck and the boy seems to pull out a card. Further video inspection reveals the card to be a Pendulum card, is he related to the Pendulum phenomenon as well? So many questions but so little answers. The assistant from earlier returns with a tablet, "Here's the information we found on him sir, but, um…" Reiji looks over the tablet quickly but drops it in shock, "No, no that's not possible, I-I don't have a…"

In Shuzo Hiragi's workspace he's going over Seto's application, "What? Where's the address? He must have moved recently and can't remember it; he didn't seem to know about Action Duels either for that matter…" Blowing at a pencil on his lips from boredom he decides to look at some other stuff. After going over some other work he returns to the application. Quickly glancing over Seto's name he stops and looks back before quickly rubbing his eyes at the name, "What? That can't be right, Seto Akaba?"
