Sleeping Beauty

Chapter One

The sun glistened over Camp Half-Blood as the sky held its normal sapphire tint. Even the pleasant summer breeze joined in, cooling off those who stayed. During the summer months, most of the kids usually head home or even take on summer jobs. While those who stay behind get ready for the summer festival. Smiling and humming echoed throughout the camp as teachers and kids come together to setting out the games, tables, tents and more for the event.

While everyone was smiling, a sigh came from Chiron. He stood with his clip board hand and made his way over to each tent, checking it off his list. While he did smile to all who greeted him, his mind was elsewhere. He glanced around him, hoping to spot Selene, but she was nowhere in sight. Sighing once more, Chiron kept to his duties. She promised to help; he thought. But maybe she was busy. While he found her company quite comforting nowadays, it felt as if his heart ache when he couldn't see her. Unsure why he simply shook his head but soon his ears twitched when a rumble echoed through the sky which caused him to look up. His eyes narrowed as he spotted more than a few dark clouds moving in, blocking out the sun.

"Hm he's upset… I wonder why." Chiron pondered.

Elsewhere in the camp setting down another table near the main campfire, Percy Jackson took a deep breath before wiping the sweat from his forehead. He stays at the camp this year since he went home last summer. He looked to his left as a smile tugged at the corn of his lip. For there was Grover, flirting with the daughters of Aphrodite. Since Percy was staying at the camp, Grover made it duty to do the same.

Annabeth wandered over to Percy as she tossed him a bottle of water, which he caught and popped off the top. He gave her a smile before taking a few gulps, which caused Annabeth to look away with a slight redness invading her cheeks. Percy thought Annabeth would have to head home or just leave the camp for the summer, but here she was also at the camp as well. Finishing the bottle, he tossed it in the trash. Both his friends were spending their summer here at the camp, and he couldn't be happier.

"Thanks for the water," Percy said.

"No problem, " Annabeth replied.

The sound of giggles along with a familiar scream caught the both of them to see Grover pulling off some dance more for the daughters of Aphrodite who merely clapped and laughed, enjoying themselves. Both Annabeth and Percy shook their heads but wound up laughing.

"Well, I see Grover is busy," Annabeth said.

"Yup, and it looks like he will busy for the rest of the day," Percy said.

"Anyway, it looks like we're almost done. We just need a few more logs." Annabeth said.

"Say no more I'll go get some," Percy said.

Percy ran off to the lake. Before many of the kids left, they cut down a few trees and chopped them up, stashing them by the lake since there was too much wood to keep in the camp.

Finally reaching the lake, Percy looked over at the logs. He was about to move towards them when a loud boom from the sky caught his attention. Looking up at the sky, he tilted its head, for its blue sky now held a grayish tint, and the icy breeze that brushed across his skin caused him to shiver. But it was the flashes of lighting that caught him to narrow his eyes as another boom followed behind the light show.

"Hm, Zeus is angry again," Percy said aloud.

"Yeah, and this time it has nothing to do with you," A familiar voice said from behind him.

Turning around, he spotted a woman with long golden blond hair and sea-blue eyes; she was wearing a sea though pink gown, which caused Percy to look away. This only made the woman smile as she snapped her fingers. Her gown disappeared and a simple pink shirt with black jeans with matching boots replaced it.

"My still so innocent as ever, Percy… okay, you can look now." The woman said.

Percy looked once more and after a brief once over nodded approving which caused another smile from the woman. That when his eyes widen when realized who he was looking at.

"Aphrodite?" Percy asked.

"The one and only," The goddess of love replied.

Soon another loud boom followed with lighting that seemed even closer shook the ground. Percy's shoulders grew tense, for as he glanced behind there was the goddess clutching his shoulder with her hands trembling. As another roll of thunder roared, a shriek escaped the goddess' lips.

So, this had something to do with her, Percy thought, but what could the goddess of love do too angry with Zeus so much he pondered. Before Percy thought another more on the subject, he felt a familiar presence close by. His eyes soon fell upon the lake. Its calm waters were now raging as the waves grew bigger and moved closer towards them.

Percy didn't move, but his eyes flicker, giving off a cerulean glow that engulfed his body and Aphrodite's. Soon an enormous wave that could almost reach the sky moved toward them. As it slammed on top of them the two of them came out dry, but they were not alone, for standing by the lake was none other than the God of the sea himself, Poseidon.

"Father," Percy said.

"Percy, move aside. This has nothing to do with you," Poseidon said.

Sighing, Percy stood his ground as he stared back at his father with a cerulean flicker in his eyes. Poseidon's hand slowly formed a water sphere that transformed into his trident, which caused Percy to pull out his pen, and with a simple click formed into a short sword with the symbol of a trident on its hilt.

Glancing back at Aphrodite, whose eyes still held fear behind them, he finally spoke.

"What did you do?"
