8 years had passed and the now 14 year old Sonic had grown while still keeping his carefree and adventure wanting spirit while Tails had grown into a cheerful little child who was really into science and the journals that were left behind. Tails liked to use the leftover parts and make his own little machines with it. They had been living on the island together eating the fruit that the island provided for their food, but they had discovered parts of broken down planes. They had also made use of old sneakers in the clothes area of the lab along with some white gloves.
Tails with Sonic's help had gotten to work using parts from the lab as well as some planes manuals found near the plane parts, to get to work fixing one up back together. They had painted it red and yellow together and had decided to dub it 'the Tornado'. Sonic was now packing up all their favourite things including DVDS, music CDs, books and other items that they had found in the lab (including a drawing of Sonic running with words written in a language that they didn't understand). "Okay, that's all the stuff packed Tails, so how are the finishing touches coming along?" Sonic asked putting their bag of stuff in the trunk as Tails was putting away his tool kit.
"Perfect Sonic, we just need to power it up..." Tails replied pointing to a fixed up treadmill machine that they had wired up to the engine of the Tornado. Sonic then went and started running on it with the treadmill transferring Sonic's speedy energy to the Tornado powering it up with them giving eachother a thumbs up.
"All set Tails, we can go once we have said goodbye to our little island..." Sonic told him as they stared sadly at the island thinking of the only place that they had ever known plus all the good times that they had together there. "Don't worry Tails, we will have eachother and all our memories of the good times, there is a world of adventure out there beyond our island and we will be alright as long as we have eachother!" Sonic told Tails with a hand on his shoulder as they shared a smile.
They both put on goggles as Tails got into the cockpit of the Tornado and Sonic climbed up on the wing of the plane as Tails looked up at him oddly, "I will be just fine up here Tails buddy!" Sonic told him with a thumbs up as Tails shrugged and got to work starting the engines of the Tornado.
After some time they took off and could feel the wind in their fur as they took off high up in the air sky and Tails did his best to keep it steady as they looked above the clouds. They flew for some time as they saw that it was getting dark and Tails said "With how dark it is, you think we can try landing and see where he land?" Tails looked up to where Sonic was giving him a thumbs up as Tails began soaring the Tornado down to the ground.
They ended up in a forest as they got out of the Tornado taking off their goggles; they looked and saw tall black and white robots with long limbs and cannons for hands. They hide behind the Tornado and looked at the robots patrolling the area. "So are these like Star Wars droids or something..." Sonic whispered to Tails as they looked and saw that they were grabbing scared animals in the forest. "What are they doing... They are so not getting away with this..." Sonic muttered angrily thinking of the vicious predators back at the island that would prey on smaller animals.
"Are you sure that it will be safe Sonic? They look really scary..." Tails asked frightened as Sonic flashed him a smile as he put his hand on his shoulder.
"It will be fine Tails, these things are just big bullies and no bully can match Sonic! Just stay safe and enjoy the show buddy." Sonic reassured him as Tails was still not sure but stayed at his hiding spot behind the Tornado as Sonic jumped out to face the robots.
He then ran and curled into a ball for the attack that he called the Spin Dash as he went right at two of the robots before they could gather animals, cutting through their legs and causing them to crash into the ground. He then jumped and got animals out of the grips of the robots. The others dropped the animals that they were holding to face him.
"CEASE INTERFERING OR FACE EXTERMINATION!" the robots said as Sonic just glared at them.
"Come and get you big hunks of junk!" Sonic said as they began firing at his direction but Sonic using his Speed easily avoid the blasts and he used his Spin Dash against them. He then began making silly faces to taunt them as they fired at him and missed. He then began taking out most of them in the area. He noticed others carrying animals to a direction and so he followed them with Tails doing his best to catch up. They noticed some sort of air carrier which must have been their ride. They were placing the animals in large capsule devices with a switch at the beginning which must be an emergency release.
Sonic then went into his ball form and began running in place for a minute to building up a powerful blast as he launched himself against the aircraft carrier destroying it. The robots then turned their attention to Sonic as he went and attacked them all until they were all gone. He looked to the capsule device and saw through the window the helpless animals inside.
With a serious look on his face he jumped up landing himself on the switch allowing it to open up and the animals to rush out. "Great job Sonic, you're a hero!" Tails beamed running towards him and pulling him into a hug. Sonic grinned as they looked towards the remains of the carrier.
They noticed a logo of an egg shaped head with a smirk smile shape on it with a long bushy whisker like moustache attached to it, "So where do you think these robots came from?" Tails asked as Sonic shook his head not knowing the answer.
"Not sure Tails but whoever has this Egg man as a mascot had better hope that they never have to meet Sonic the hedgehog and his buddy Tails!" Sonic said shaking his head as they looked and noticed a nearby cave. "I think that could be our new home for the moment." Sonic told him and Tails nodded as they went to get the Tornado and drive it to the inside of the cave.
Nearby in Central City the capital city of the United Federation, there was the headquarters building of Robotnik Industries a robots and weapons manufacturing company that served as the primary contractor for the United Federation's military force Guardian Unit of the Nation or G.U.N. for short. It was early that night and in an office was a 13 year old girl in a black scientist's coat with wild spiky brown hair and dark blue sunglasses. She was Agatha Robotnik and she served as 2nd in command of the whole company despite her age.
She was checking the computer systems on her portal computer device and got an alert from the squad of the E-101 series Beta robots that were in charge of gathering animals for use of experimentation and or target practice. Of course officially the robot squad was doing security tests as well as practicing their systems in the area so the citizens do not go up in arms if it gets leaked out. "Impossible..." Agatha said jumping up in her seat checking the reports and then the security feed from the view of the robots just to be sure. "Father is going to hate this..." Agatha said fearfully as she got up and holding the device made her way to the underground lab of the facility.
She went to the area which was overlooking the construction and test area of a massive egg shaped mech robot with black, red and yellow colors painted on it along with pink skin and a face painted on the head along with a brown moustache. She looked through the windows as the mech robot was being powered up, the biggest creation of her father so far.
The robot powered up but then shut down with the computer systems in the room with the window overlooking the area saying that the test had failed with 40% power. They were unfortunately having trouble finding a large enough power source for the robot. She entered the room where standing at the giant window was a rotund shaped man with a bald head, long bushy moustache, goggles, black pants and a long dark red labcoat. This was her father Julian Robotnik the owner and founder of Robotnik Industries.
"What news do you bring for me daughter?" Robotnik asked his voice sounding like he was stopping himself form lashing out in frustration. Agatha gulped as she walked right next to her father.
"Father, tonight's squad of E-101 series Beta... was a failure... They all got destroyed along with the containment capsule and the drop off vehicle... The animals had all escaped..." Agatha explained and gulped as the great rage on her father's face.
"How could this be? Were faulty defects sent from the assembly line instead of being destroyed? How did this happen?" Robotnik demanded looking down at her with great rage.
"I check the footage and... Well... A talking super fast blue hedgehog destroyed them..." Agatha explained fearful of her father's reaction as to what could be a joke even if she was never the person for jokes. However to her surprise Robotnik blinked and was taken aback. She then handed him the device to look over the footage himself.
"...Could it be true... I never thought the creature could have survived..." Robotnik muttered in shock and awe, "Contact G.U.N. and get to work a squad to investigate the area as soon as possible. Be vague about what to find and I want to the specimen found and brought back alive if possible." Robotnik ordered her and though confused Agatha nodded as she then left.
The idea of using the fanon Eggatha character was also used by Nintendoman01 for the story Tales of Sonic the Hedgehog so while I wasn't thinking of the story when I got my own ideas for the character; credit there for the idea being used there as well.
