Alex didn't sleep very well that night. She had totally embarrassed herself, and Jordan was properly angry at her for slamming that door on him. She regretted letting her temper take her over like that- she felt so bad. Jordan was one of her best friends, and he hadn't deserved it.

As for the whole embarrassing moment thing, it was nothing compared to some things that had happened to her before. Besides, it wasn't like she was ever going to see Kaiden again- he was a gorgeous professional surfer, and she was a clumsy teenage lifeguard who had just happened to work at the beach he had booked.

With those cheerful thoughts, she got up, got dressed and went into the kitchen. Her roommate and best friend, D.C, was busy making herself some toast. Alex took one look at her grinning face, and knew what had happened.

"Jordan told you, didn't he?" She sighed, getting out some cereal. She really regretted setting her bestie and friend up together sometimes. Other times, it was the best decision she had ever made. This was not one of those times.

"Yep." Dix grinned like the cheshire cat. "I can't believe that happened to you!"

"I know"

"I looked up some photos of him on insta, you know…"

"Oh god."

They often had conversations like this. They would talk so fast that it would confuse anyone who happened to be listening.

"Anyway," Dix said cheerfully, "He was pretty hot. Plus, it says he lives in one of the fancier houses around here, so he'll properly be coming to your beach to train!"

"What!?" Alex exclaimed. This could not be happening. After yesterday, she never wanted to see that guy again.

"I know!" Dix grinned. "You'll get to watch a professional surfer practise! That's gotta be brilliant for you, with how much you love the beach and-"

Alex wailed.

"Oh god sweetie, what's wrong?" D.C crooned to Alex. She dived into her friend's arms. "Oh no, it will be ok. I'm sure it wasn't that bad!"

Alex let out a sob.

"But it was!"

"No, it wasn't! Alex, look at me!" At the sound of her friend's determined voice, Alex reluctantly looked at her. "Alexandra, I have known you since we were teens, and in that time you have loved nothing more than going down to your beloved beach and swimming." Alex nodded, unsure where her friend was going with this. "I am not going to let some ridiculously stupid surfer get in the way of you having your dream job. Now, you are going to go off to work, and you are going to have the .ever. Got it!?"

Alex nodded and stood up.

"Thanks Dix," She said gratefully, "I needed that. Ya know, you're actually a pretty good speaker!"

Dix nodded. "That I am!" She said gleefully. "Now, you have fun at work!"

"I will!" Alex said, and felt a little guilty. She was very lucky to have a job that she liked, and an awesome boss who respected his employees. Dix, however, wasn't so lucky. She aspired to be a model, her dream since she was a little girl. However, no one had picked her up yet, and to pay for herself D.C had been forced to work in a grocery store under the world's worst boss, Aven Dalmarta. Alex had met him all of one time, and hated him with a burning passion.

"Hey, Dix?" Alex said as she walked out the door. The redhead turned around. "Don't put up with any of Damarta's shit today, will you?"

"Don't worry, Alex" D.C said with a grin that used to terrify Alex, "I won't. I actually got an email about a job opportunity today, so fingers crossed!"

"Aw, Dix that's great!" Alex gushed. She felt bad about spending their time on her this morning, but she was willing to be late to listen to Dix. Dix, however, wasn't about to let Alex be late.

"I know, it's great, now get going!" She said, practically shooing Alex out the door. "If you're the one who gets to have a nice job, then I'm going to make sure you keep it!"

Alex laughed as she practically ran out the door. Her friend was always looking out for her!

Alex met up with Jordan at the bus stop, and together they went to the beach. As they rode the bus in stormy silence, Alex knew she had to do something.

"You know, Jordan..." She started.

"Yeah?" Jordan said, turning in his seat to face her. She couldn't read his expression.

"You know, I'm so, so sorry for yesterday!" Alex said, her eyes tearing up. She felt so bad. "I was up last night, and I was thinking, and I just sought, you know, realised that I would have done the same thing if I were you. I just feel so, so bad and I hope you forgive me!"

Jordan looked at her, bewildered.

"Alex, I didn't practically care that you slammed that door," He said. What!? "I properly deserved it, and you needed to let out your anger. There's really nothing to forgive."

Alex smiled at him and gave him a hug.

"Thanks, Sparker!" She whispered. He laughed.

"No problem, Jennings!" He whispered back, and Alex felt like she could face the world with her friends by her side.

Okay, so maybe she could face the world, but as they arrived on the beach, Alex felt nervous. Most people would properly laugh. She and Jordan trudged up the long, long stairs and she glared at them the whole way. Stupid stairs. If they hadn't been so long, she could have met Kaiden normally.

Jordan offered to take the lifeguard chair for the morning, so Alex settled down in the watchtower with a pair of binoculars. Since it was early in the morning, only a few people were there, all regulars. Alex started to flick through her instagram, bored. She really shouldn't have been doing that, but Niyx wasn't here yet and she was going to enjoy some rare time on her phone.

She checked her notifications, and to her surprise, found a new follower. Her account was just for her, she didn't post anything and only really had one to help her stay connected with old friends. Alex didn't get new followers.

She had a look at who it was and nearly fainted. It was Kaiden James' Instagram. And it wasn't his surfing one either. It was his personal, private account.

She quickly followed him back and got the hell off her phone, since she saw Niyx walking towards the watchtower. What had just happened? Did this mean that Kaiden had actually liked her? She was so confused.

The rest of the day passed quickly as it always did at the beach, and Alex hurried home so that she could talk to Dix. She would know what to do. And as Alex walked through the apartment door, her friend immediately jumped on her.

"Alexxx!" She screamed, "I got the job!"

They both screamed and cried, Alex was so proud of her friend. Jordan, who was standing in the doorway, leapt in and joined their little hugging contest.

"What." A voice said, "Is it going on?"

Alex looked up into the brown eyes of Bear Ronnigan and jumped on him. D.C spotted them and came over.

"Bear!" She said, the happiest Alex had seen her in a while, "I got a modeling job!"

"Congratulations!" Bear yelled and joined in their jumping, screaming, crying hug.

After a few minutes of this, Alex left the little huddle and made everyone a cup of coffee. They all sipped quietly, and Jordan, of course, interrupted the silence.

"You know, we should go out and celebrate," He suggested.

Bear nodded. "You're right."

They finished their drinks and Jordan and Bear left, mysteriously leaving them an address and telling them to meet with them there in an hour.

"Wear something nice." Jordan had said. This was going to be fun!
