Chapter 1:

Lily sat down at her desk and opened a letter that was just delivered by her owl, Orion, she looked at the sender and sighed. Her uncle had sent her a letter about her father and it looked to be an angry one. She got up out of her chair and walked over to her bedroom door and opened it. She walked downstairs and handed her mother the letter from her uncle. Her mother sighed and quickly scribbled down a response and said to her "Lily, don't worry about that. It's your 11th birthday, I don't want you mad on your special day!" Lily lowered her head, "Mom! Why does your family hate daddy?" Helen sighed, "My family just doesn't like it that I married a Slytherin. Your Dad is someone that most people are scared of and cower at his name." Lily nodded, "I know! But I wish our family would just get along." Helen nodded, "I agree with you Lily, but our family is just this way right now." Helen leads Lily to the family room for Lily to open up her gifts. As soon as Lily sat down a brown owl flew through the window carrying a parchment envelope with a purple wax seal. The letter landed on Lily's lap, the address read: Ms. Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw manor: The United Kingdom. Lily opened the letter and read, "Dear Ms. Ravenclaw, We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please send an owl no later than July 31st. Sincerely Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress." Lily smiled and opened her first gift, it was a set of robes and a new quill and some rolls of parchment. Helen had run upstairs to grab her husband and came down after Lily had opened her second gift. Lily looked up to see her Mom and Dad sitting on the sofa across from her. Her mother was Helen Ravenclaw, a Descendent of Rowena Ravenclaw and her father was Tom Marvolo Riddle, Descendent of Salazar Slytherin. Lily received all of her Hogwarts equipment and books for her birthday except her magic wand. So Helen and Tom took their daughter to Diagon Alley to buy her a magic wand. Tom put up a glamor so people didn't recognize him. The family entered Ollivander's and Lily stepped up to the counter and Olivander said, "Ah, Ms. Ravenclaw, I thought I would be seeing you today. Your father's wand is Yew, 13 ½ inches with a phoenix feather core, and your mother's, Cherry, 12 inches with a unicorn hair core. Let's try this. Spruce 11, inches with a dragon heartstring core." Lily took the wand and swished it in the air but nothing happened. "Nope, not the one for you. Try this, Oak 12 ½ inches with a phoenix feather core." Lily tried it, but when she swished it in the air the glass vase next to Mr. Olivander shattered. "No, No definitely not. I wonder…" He said. Mr. Olivander went to the back of his shop and carefully carried a dark blue box to the counter where Lily stood. "Ms. Ravenclaw, try this wand, Cherry 10 inches with a thestral hair core." When Lily lifted the wand from its velvet-lined box the room around her became dim and the lamp on the counter flickered. Mr. Olivander packed up Lily's wand in its box and the family walked out of the shop.
