~Present Time, Hibiki POV~
"Hibiki, are you ready yet? Papa's waiting for you in the car," my mama shouted from downstairs. I stood in front of my mirror, my dark blue hair in a pony-tail, reaching down my waist, my fringe straightened with strands hanging on either side of me. I looked myself up and down with my uniform, and sighed, grabbing my school bag I padded downstairs, giving a kiss to my mama on the cheek and dashing outside, my shinai sword on my back. I placed my bags at the back of the car.
"You ready for your first day?" My papa asked, starting up the car. My papa moved to the UK for a couple of years due to his work, and we had to follow. Returning to Japan after his promotion at his work, we were back in Japan permanently.
"Uhm, yeah, I suppose. I just hope they have a kendo club," I replied, my voice blunt as I looked out the window, looking at the students walking to school. When we reached the entrance, my papa kissed my cheek good-bye and headed off to his work place. I stood in front of the school grounds, I felt a breeze sweep my bangs, my pony-tail flying around me. I walked forward, and I felt I was being stared at. I adverted my eyes to one of the girls staring at me and they cowered a little, I was confused.
"You're giving off a very scary vibe," a voice spoke behind me and I turned around to look down at two girls, who were smaller than I was, "your face looks like you want to hit someone, its expressionless and-" she started but her friend stopped her, apologising whilst bowing.
"Uh, yeah… thanks for pointing it out?" I replied, slightly confused. I couldn't help I had a resting bitch face. I walked away, leaving the two behind and ignoring the glances from people. I wasn't sure where the Admin Office was, so I asked this girl who looked at me with a smile.
"Ah, you're the new student? I'll show you if you'd like!" She chirped and one of her friends told her she shouldn't.
"Eh? Why not?" She asked innocently and I waited.
"She looks like a delinquent…" one of them whispered and I sighed, closing my eyes.
"It's fine, I'll go find it myself," I replied, my voice slightly deeper than all of them. As I turned around to walk, I bumped into someone hard and the girls gasped and squealed.
"T-Tezuka-sama!" They all screamed and I quickly looked at the "Tezuka" I bumped into.
"Be care-" he started, his deep voice stopped as he saw me, "Hibiki?" He asked, his eyes surprised behind his glasses.
"T-Tezuka…?" I whispered, my blue orbs widened in shock. I felt girls glare at me and I cleared my throat.
"I transfer today, do you know where the Admin office is?" I asked, staring at him. He was tall, taller than I was but I reached his shoulder blades. He nodded slightly and started walking, I trailed behind.
"When did you arrive?" He asked, looking back at me, his face expressionless.
"2 weeks ago," was my blunt reply. It was silence as we walked to the admin office, upon arriving I knocked on the door and a voice told me to come in. I bowed at Tezuka and headed inside, shutting the door behind me.
"Welcome to Seishun Gakuen, Ado-san. This is your homeroom teacher, Andou-sensei," one of the admin's spoke, introducing us. I bowed.
"If you want to join the Kendo club, you're in luck as we're looking for another member. I'm the Sensei for the Kendo Club," Andou-sensei spoke his smile radiant and I nodded with a thanks. When we walked to homeroom, I instantly saw the face of Tezuka. Andou-sensei went to his desk to announce my arrival.
"Good morning ladies and gents, we have a new transfer from England, please welcome her," Andou-sensei announced and gestured to introduce myself.
"Ado Hibiki," I bluntly spoke, and I waited for a confirmation I was done but Andou-sensei looked at me.
"Why not tell us about yourself a little?" He asked, trying to make me feel comfortable. I stared at the faces, waiting and I shut my eyes.
"I do Kendo and my favourite food is kimchi," I finalised, and the class clapped along with Andou-sensei. I was seated next to Tezuka. I mentally sighed to myself, his fan club is going to be chasing me most likely. He seemed the type to have a fan club. I sat down, resting my chin on the inside of my palm as I looked at the front.
"It's been a while hasn't it," his deep voice whispered next to me and I turned to face him, my blue orbs staring into his dark brown ones.
"Yeah, it has. We need to catch up at lunch, ne?" I asked, tilting my head with a small smile and adverted my gaze at the teacher. Homeroom wasn't long, so I looked at my timetable and thought where the rooms would be.
"Your timetable is exactly like mine, lets walk," he instructed and I blinked once, then twice and after realising he was already walking to the doors I hurried to pack my things and followed after him. We walked together, side by side in silence to our Society/World History class. I heard murmurs and whispers as we walked, I kept my face forward not caring. Once we reached our class, I nodded as I remembered the way. We walked in and it was a little empty, but people were piling up behind us so we walked in and I settled in the seat that sensei told me to. I had to sit at the front whilst Tezuka sat at the back, I pouted mentally that we weren't close, but whatever. The class lasted for 1 hour, I yawned at the end and as I was packing, the teacher nodded at me saying I did good. I thanked him and as I was going to get up for my second class which was calligraphy, I felt a pat on my shoulder. I didn't need to turn around to know that it was Tezuka. We walked out together, I felt daggers behind my back as we did and I sighed again, this time Tezuka noticed.
"You're sighing quiet often, are you ok?" he asked, concern in his eyes, even though his face was expressionless. I nodded briefly, not wanting to worry him about the tiniest things. Calligraphy was weird, I couldn't hold the paintbrush correctly and I heard snickering.
"Oi, Ado, you're not very good at this are you?" A boy teased laughing and I had a vein pop on the side of my head, my smile twitched a little. He looked like the girl from earlier this morning, they had the same hair colour and shaped eyes. I concentrated and in the end I managed to do a quote that the teacher asked us to write. I sighed and wiped my forehead, Tezuka was next to me looking at my work and I waited on his opinion.
"You made a mistake here…" he pointed and I looked down, and to my dismay I put the wrong kanji character down and I fell silent, my mind about to explode. I gripped the brush a little too hard and it cracked, Tezuka flinched next to me, his face showed confusion and worry, I looked down and I gasped.
"Ado…" a boy whispered, pointing behind me and I felt a menacing aura.
"Ado-san, please refrain from breaking the equipment," the teacher menacingly spoke, and I felt a shiver go down my spine.
"H-Hai… gomen…" I apologised, embarrassed. I felt my face flush a deep crimson and I glanced towards Tezuka, he had a small smile on his face. The class finished and I was back to my usual face.
"I'm Minokawa Daichi by the way! Good-luck for the rest of the day, Ado!" The same boy who teased me spoke, slapping me on the back and running out with his other friends. I nodded, but he was already out the room. My favourite lesson of mathematics was next. As we were walking to class, I got held up by some girls.
"Ah, Ado-san, can we talk with you for a bit? We won't keep you long!" The girl cheerfully spoke, I remember her face from earlier this morning. I looked at Tezuka and he nodded briefly before walking ahead, since our room was right there.
"So?" I asked, waiting patiently as they glared at me.
"Don't cling so tightly to Tezuka-sama, you're no match for him," they snarled, and it clicked that they were probably a fan club.
"I'm not interested in fangirling over boys. He's a human being, respect his privacy at least," I shrugged them off, my hair swaying as I walked away and I felt them glare at my back. I haven't got time for idle chit-chat like that, actually pisses me off. As I walked in, I bowed to the teacher and sat 2 seats away from Tezuka. Math flew by like the breeze outside swaying the trees. I wouldn't mention to Tezuka about the conversation I just had outside, he probably had more important things on his mind like the student council. I packed my things, making sure I placed my homework in my bag before I forgot and grabbed my shinai and carried it on my back.
"When did you get into Kendo?" Tezuka asked as we walked 4th period; Classics Appreciation.
"I had a best friend back in the UK who was Japanese, she introduced me to Kendo, and I decided to pick it up. And you? What are you into currently?" I asked as we walked side by side, content and comfortable.
"Tennis," he replied and I nodded. Tennis huh? No wonder his body is so hard. When we reached the class, music filled my ears and I almost fell asleep until I got tapped by the same boy from Calligraphy as he laughed at me. I wanted to slap him so hard but he woke me up, so I decided to just call it evens. Once lunch arrived, Tezuka told me that he had a little meeting with his coach and to wait for him by the cafeteria. I nodded and he walked ahead. As I was heading out of the class, the same girls were waiting for me outside.
"Let's go at the back," one of them snarled and I couldn't really get away because they surrounded me. I twitched and I was dragged away. I was thrown on the ground, my lunch and books spilling.
"Who do you think you are? You think you're above us all because you know Tezuka-sama?" One of the girls snarled, and the girl from earlier who spoke to me, her aura was menacing. It was a completely different person.
"Why don't you nicely stop talking to Tezuka-sama and we'll make your life easier," she spat, laughing and I didn't say anything, I just glared at them. Disgusted at their behaviour; I decided to not beat them up because I didn't want to cause any trouble at all in this school, it would put a strain on my parents again. I stood up, gathered up my spilt lunch and books, dusting the history book I had. They growled at how I just ignored them and as I was picking up my things, another pushed me again, or more like kicked me in the stomach. I coughed a little, winced in pain. She used the tip of her shoes full force, ouch. I continued to gather my things and once I did, I stood up and looked at them, not being phased.
"If you think that kick would hurt me, think again," I replied, glaring at them, my bright blue eyes in full rage. One girl got pissed at that and grabbed my pony-tail, snapping my hair band and pulled my hair, I shut my eyes, not lifting a finger. I don't want to cause trouble anymore, I don't. I let them beat me up and after some time they were done.
"I hope you learnt your lesson, pig," the ring leader spat and they walked away, giggling and laughing. I stood there, my uniform all dusty, my hair now down and sprawled everywhere. I packed my stuff and threw my lunch in the bin. I then headed inside, I kept my head up, my shinai on my back as I marched to my homeroom. Everyone looked at me, scared and worried, but mainly scared. I placed my shinai in my locker, locked it and marched out. 40 mins left till lunch, I had time to sort myself out. When I went to the bathroom, my luck got worse as the three girls were there again. I mentally sighed to myself.
"Ew, look at you, you look so disgusting. Let's add to that shall we?" One of the girls snarled and splashed water at my face, before they walked out one of them scratched my face, leaving a mark.
"Now Tezuka-sama won't even look at you, ugly," she snarled and they ran out, laughing. I looked in the mirror, she was right, there was a claw mark where her finger scraped me, my hair now a little wet from the water. I combed my hair with my fingers, trying to sort it out. As I headed out with a sigh, I was face to face with Tezuka. He looked down at me, his face now worried.
"What happened to you?" He asked as he examined my face, touching my cheek and I winced.
"I fell down the stairs," I lied, looking to the side. He clearly didn't believe me, but he didn't pry because people were staring at us.
"We'll talk about this later, come on let's get you to the nurses office," he spoke and grabbed my arm as we headed to the infirmary. I followed, not declining his command. When we reached the infirmary, the nurse looked at me and gasped.
"Oh dear, what happened," she asked, gesturing me to sit down.
"She fell down the stairs, scraped her face," Tezuka explained and the nurse nodded, placing a bandage on my cheek.
"Be more careful," she warned worriedly and I nodded giving her a thanks. When we were outside, he looked at me, his eyes filled with worry.
"You can rely on me, you know that," he reassured as his eyes softened and I nodded slightly.
"Do you know where the kendo club is?" I asked as we were walking to our homeroom. He nodded and he insisted he would escort me there but I told him it's okay, he has council meetings. He was hesitant but he nodded and I bid bye. I followed his instructions and there was a small dojo by the courts and I walked in, greeted by a boy.
"Hello, wanting to join the club? Just hand in your form there and be here Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for club activities," he instructed as he was writing some stuff down. I recalled today was Monday. I placed my club form down and walked out, my hair flowing behind me. Once lunch was over, I sat in my seat, distracted at what other things those girls would do. I shrugged it off and headed for PE. I parted ways with Tezuka to change and once I was done, the boys and girls were mingled together to do hurdles. The same girls were in my class and I heard them bickering and snickering whilst the boys set up the hurdles. When they were done, Tezuka stood next to me and they stopped their snickering. I mentally smiled to myself. The boys and girls hurdled separately, as I was running and ready to hurdle, I felt someone trip me up and instead of jumping, I tripped on the hurdle and as I was about to face plant, I placed my hand on the ground and did a spin mid-air, landing on my feet.
"My foot slipped, sorry sensei," I apologised as I smirked at the girl who tripped me up. She snarled at me. The lesson kept going on like that, they were attempting to hurt me but I just recovered. I breathed in and out after finishing the PE class.
"I'll wait for you so we can go to science together ok?" Tezuka said as he walked by me and I nodded. I went to the changing rooms to change and freshen up, I gave the hair tie back to another girl who lent it to me and as I was exchanging conversation, the same girl earlier laughed.
"She might have fleas you know," she spat and laughed.
"That's not nice, Minokawa-san…" the girl who I spoke to said, her face frowning. Minokawa, she was probably the sister of Daichi then? They both have completely different personalities, it's astonishing.
"Huh? Did I ask you?" Minokawa spat at the girl and the girl frowned, telling me to ignore them. I nodded and got changed.
"I'm Takegawa Seira, nice to meet you," she introduced herself and I smiled at her as I was putting on my skirt.
"Ado Hibiki, nice to meet you," I replied back and the bell rang, so I hurriedly tried to change but I couldn't find my shirt.
"Huh? Where's my shirt?" I asked to myself and Seira looked at me, trying to help me but to no avail.
"Seira, hurry up!" Another girl shouted and I told her its ok, she can go and she apologetically bowed and ran out. I heard some laughter and I saw they messed with my shirt.
"Enjoy being late, ugly," Minokawa laughed out loud with her underlings and walked out, I picked up the shirt and I sighed. What do I do now? I can't go out like this, I don't even have anything to cover me up. My shirt was torn to pieces, they cut up my shirt to the point it's not wearable. I spoke in my head. Tezuka is waiting for me, oh gosh. I hope he would go on ahead without me.
Tezuka POV
I was waiting outside for Hibiki, but I didn't see her come out. Every time the door opened I hoped it was her, but it wasn't. 3 girls stepped out, laughing and I walked up to them.
"Do you know if there is anyone left in the changing rooms?" I asked, looking down at them. They all blushed and squealed. Fan girls, oh no. I mentally thought in my head.
"No one else is in there, Tezuka-sama. You should hurry to class!" The girl with dark brown curly hair spoke, cheerfully. I hesitated, maybe she left without me. I decided to head to science class, hoping to see her there. As I was walking inside, Fuji greeted me.
"Hey Tezuka," he smiled at me and I nodded to acknowledge his greet.
"Is something on your mind?" He asks as we walk to science together. I scanned the room and she wasn't to be seen.
"No," I replied bluntly and I walked back out, leaving a confused Fuji behind.
Hibiki POV
I sat there, not knowing what to do. I didn't have any contacts on my phone except for my parents, but they were both at work. I sat on the bench, my knees up to my chin, my dark blue hair draped around me like a blanket. I heard a knock on the door, I didn't move.
"Hibiki?" Tezuka's voice rang out and I shot up, my face wide in shock. He can't see me like this, no way. No way. I chanted in my head, but he was my last hope at getting some help. Why is he here? He should of left me behind, he's got science class! I argued with myself, but my thought was interrupted when Tezuka opened the door, his face shocked. I looked at him, my face flushed and I felt tears come to my eyes. I buried my head in between my knees.
"Don't come near… I'm not a good sight-" I started but I felt a jacket drape over me and saw that Tezuka was right in my face.
"Put my jersey on, tell me who did this?" he commanded and I shook my head, zipping up his jersey. It smelt of him.
"Hibiki, tell me," he commanded more, his deep voice made me weak.
"M-Minokawa's… sister…" I whispered, adverting my gaze away from him. He closed his eyes as he grabbed my leg gently.
"I gathered she also left you that mark on your face. Come, I'll take you to the nurses office and you can spend the rest of the day there. I'll help you change, come on," he spoke, his touch gentle as he put my socks on and shoes. I stood up, my dark blue hair draping around me and he smiled. He grabbed my arm and carried my PE kit on his other. I felt like a lost puppy, trailing behind him all beaten up. When we reached the nurses office second time that day, he explained everything and the nurse shook her head.
"Honestly, people need to grow up. She'll be fine here," she reassured with a smile. He looked at me before leaving and patted my head.
"I'll take some notes for you in classes okay?" He reassured and I nodded. He left with a bow to the nurse.
"He's a good president isn't he? Are you guys going out?" The nurse asked as she told me I could lay down.
"Childhood friends…" I replied, looking up at the ceiling. I saw the nurse smile and heard her giggle, clearly not believing me. I wished I was in class, but by the sounds of Tezuka's voice he wouldn't like it if I left the infirmary. I closed my eyes and sleep took over me.
Tezuka POV
After the council meeting was done, Fuji met me outside. We didn't have tennis practice today so it was a free evening. We walked to homeroom to collect our things and I grabbed Hibiki's things.
"Your face looks scarier than usual, Tezuka," he pointed out, looking at me his face worried.
"I have to go to the infirmary, you can go ahead without me," I stated, ignoring his comment and he looked at me weirdly.
"I'll join you, it's no fun walking home alone," he replied and I could tell he wasn't going home by himself. As we walked out, we saw Daichi.
"Yo, Tezuka, Fuji! How's Ado? She managed to get through the day?" He asked, grinning. I stared at him, too harshly and I cleared my throat.
"Minokawa, you have a sister don't you?" I asked, staring at him. He nodded, confused.
"Yeah, I do. She's in Class 3-5 though, did she do something?" He asked, his face now serious.
"Keep it between us, but she did something to Ado. I'm not sure what the situation is, but Ado… got injured," I replied, and Daichi sighed, face palming.
"She's such a childish being, I'll have a word with her subtly. If you ever need any help feel free to ask yeah? Ado's a funny person," he reassured and he walked away. I felt Fuji look at me.
"What was that about?" He asked, confused. I sighed to myself and explained briefly whilst we were walking. As we reached the infirmary, the nurse placed a finger to her lips.
"It seems she fell asleep from exhaustion with what happened today. She has a bruise on her stomach, do you know about it?" The nurse asked, concerned. I shook my head no, I only told her about the scratch on her face, but I didn't know about the stomach bruise.
"Bless her," Fuji spoke, curious as he looked at Hibiki.
"Childhood friend, Ado Hibiki. It seems the fangirls got to her and targeted her for hanging out with me," I explained, a little pissed off at how childish they were.
"Shall we wake her up?" Fuji suggested, looking at the clock. I nodded and gently nudged her.
"Hibiki, wake up," I whispered and she mumbled, opening her blue orbs slowly and she smiled at me. She got up and rubbed her eyes, but as she did she winced in pain.
"Ow…" she held her stomach and the nurse came over.
"You need to take it easy, your stomach is heavily bruised," the nurse instructed and she nodded. I helped her get up, my jersey still on her and I hoped Fuji wouldn't tease me about it, but I already saw a mischievous smile on his face.
"Here's your things, are you able to carry them?" I asked her, passing her bag. She nodded her head and she grabbed her shinai and carried it on her back.
"Thank you, Nurse Akawa," she thanked the nurse and she smiled, waving good-bye.
"I'm Fuji Syusuke, best friend with Tezuka. Saa, Hibiki-chan, how long have you known Tezuka?" Fuji asked, looking at Hibiki.
"9 years," she replied, smiling but her eyes showed sadness. Fuji nodded and as we were walking I felt her pace go slower and I stopped.
"You ok?" I asked her as I turned around.
"Uh… yeah I just, its nothing," she replied running to us. I saw from the corner of my eyes she was gripping her shinai handle too tightly on her bag but her face was emotionless. Fuji parted ways with us and I walked her straight home to be sure she was safe.
"This is my place, would you like to come in for a little bit?" She asked, looking at me. I haven't seen her parents in a while, and it would be something to tell my parents. I nodded briefly and her eyes lit up for the first time that day.
"We're home!" She called out and another voice was heard.
"We're? Did you bring a friend?" I assumed that was her mother and as we walked in, her mother turned around and almost dropped the knife.
"Tezuka? Is that you?!" She exclaimed, walking over to us with a smile.
"It's been awhile," I bowed, my body stiffened as she hugged me.
"Mama, don't do that, Tezuka doesn't like it," she scolded her mother and she composed herself.
"I'm sorry! I'm just so surprised to see how much you've grown, are you parents well?" She asked, smiling more. I nodded.
"I'm making dinner, do you want stay over for dinner Tezuka?" She asked, cheerfully humming.
"I'm not hungry mama, sorry," Hibiki replied, gently tugging me to go upstairs.
"Are you ok honey?" Her mother asked, worry on her face and she nodded with a smile back. We headed upstairs and as we got into her room, I hugged her.
"You're not okay, your stomach, the nurse told me," I whispered gently and she relaxed in my arms.
"Yeah… my stomach hurts," she melted in my arms and I gently lifted her shirt up and she didn't move. I saw the bruise, it was purple and brown. I frowned, angry. I felt her push my hand away and she looked at me, her blue orbs staring into my dark brown eyes.
"I remembered your face, as soon as I saw you," she smiled, a small smile that you could barely see and I returned the same small smile.
"Ah, I remember you too. I've spoken to Daichi, he's Minokawa Rin's older twin. He said he'd have a word with his sister, but to not cause any gossip at the same time," I explained to her, rubbing her back gently. She closed her eyes, relaxing even more in my arms, she was like jelly.
"I thought they looked familiar, so they're twins… complete opposites," she whispered as she closed her eyes.
"They're fraternal twins," I replied, looking down at the girl by my chest. She steadily got up and sighed.
"I'll change and try to eat, would you like to stay for dinner?" She asked, smiling at me again and I nodded, I flipped my phone open to contact my parents.
"Hello? Yeah, I'm good. I'm here at Ado's place – yeah, Ado Hibiki, the family we're close with – yeah, yeah I'm staying for dinner is that okay?" I asked as I kept getting interrupted by my mother's questions. She said it was okay and I hung up.
"She said its ok," I spoke.
"Mama's probably made your portion already," she teased, giggling a little. As she padded around finding some clothes, I decided to turn around to be a gentleman as she changed. She tapped my shoulder and I turned around; she wore a baggy t-shirt with shorts and she had indoor bunny slippers. We walked out, heading downstairs and I smelt the food.
"Are you sure your ok?" Her mother asked as we all sat down. Hibiki nodded.
"Where's papa?" She asked as we all dug in.
"He wont be back till late," her mother replied. I ate quietly listening on their conversation, glancing at Hibiki every now and then.
Hibiki POV
I felt my stomach churn and twist in pain as I swallowed my food. I didn't show any sign of discomfort as I knew I'd worry my mama. I ate as much as I could, which was the whole plate and I felt Tezuka glance at me every now and then. He's changed so much; he still wore his glasses but his eyes were much mature and nicely shaped, his dishevelled brown hair is the same as before. He grew at such an incredible height, for being our age he was tall, his shoulders broad and I smiled to myself. Once we were done I helped mama put away the dishes, Tezuka tried to help but mama didn't allow it.
"Hibiki, I've got this. Why don't you go and spend time with Tezuka," my mama winked at me, and I sweat dropped, apologising to Tezuka about her.
"It's ok," his deep voice replied, his face expressionless. I led him back up to my room and we caught up, as we were meant to at lunch but didn't get to.
"How was England?" He asked, sitting down on the floor, I sat in front of him, cross legged with a pillow on my lap.
"It was great, I didn't make much friends, apparently I was too scary, it's the same for this school, everyone stared at me as I walked on campus," I replied, chewing the inside of my mouth, adverting my gaze from him. I felt him shuffle and when I looked up he was right by my face.
"Why do you advert your gaze?" He asked, his eyes searching mine and my mouth fell open to an 'o' shape.
"I… your gaze is… intimidating…" I confessed, about to advert my eyes again but I couldn't seem to, its like he kept me there with his eyes only.
"Does it make you feel uncomfortable?" He asked again, not moving. I shook my head no.
"It's the opposite actually… it makes my knees kind of melt," I confessed, blushing a deep red and finally adverted my gaze away from his. He caught my chin and forced me to look at him. His gaze made me weak and he knew this, because he was smirking at me, I never thought he had this side. After some time he let go and I managed to breathe a shaky breathe.
"Gomen, your face was too cute," he replied, clearing his throat.
"You're not like this with the club are you?" I asked, amused. He shook his head no. It made me happy that he was showing this side of him, I knew just by looking at him he was a star student, popular and favoured. His cool personality really helps with that too, whilst I was the opposite. You'd think we weren't friends if we were together because we were so out of place, we didn't match at all. I sighed to myself, he probably only thinks of me as a childhood friend, nothing more. His mind is most likely filled with tennis, tournaments, becoming pro and school.
"Hibiki? Are you listening?" He asked, I looked at his face that was scrunched up.
"Gomen, I was thinking about… stuff, what did you say?" I asked, smiling at him a little.
"I asked if you wanted to come to tennis matches or tournaments when you're not busy," he repeated, waiting patiently.
"Oh… sure, I'd love to," I replied, a little distant.
"I should get going, got morning practice tomorrow. I'll see you tomorrow?" He stood up, looking at the clock. I stood up too and escorted him to the front door. I didn't actually reply to his "see you tomorrow" because to be honest with you I was dreading going back, I had a tough shell up front but deep down, I could crumble at any moment. As he was putting his shoes on, he turned to face me, his face stoic but his eyes showed worry.
"I'll… see you tomorrow," I whispered and I kind of pushed him out the door, I felt bad but his presence made me feel all weird, mixed feelings. He was hard to read, sure he might be different with me but, it's hard to read him. I don't even know if he's interested in me after so long. I placed my hand to my heart, it was beating rapidly but it was also pained. I headed back up to my room after saying good-night to mama and curled in my bed. My phone lit up to an unknown number.
From: Unknown / 07549661342
I miss you
K
I thought about who this K is and when I finally remembered, I shot up out of bed and called the number. It was a UK number. It rang three times and a male voice was heard over the line.
"Hello, Hibiki," the voice rang in my ears. Kenneth! I shouted in my head.
"Kenneth? How did you get my number?" I asked, confused at the boy over the line.
"Aha, you don't remember leaving your phone number behind before leaving? I didn't call you straight away because… I legit just confessed to you and I found it awkward, so I decided to text you instead, did I interrupt your sleep?" He replied, his voice was soft and very light.
"Ah, no you didn't I was awake. I don't remember leaving my phone number no… but how are you?" I replied, bringing my knees up to my chest.
"I'm great, I decided to give you a call before I went to club activities. I hope you're still doing Kendo over there?" He asked, amusement in his voice.
"Of course I am," I replied back, my voice barely a whisper.
"Are you ok? You don't sound ok," he continued, worry in his voice. The one thing I like about Kenneth is he's sweet, he reads moods so quickly that it's insane. I can tell he still likes me, but I don't like him like that, my eyes has always been on Tezuka.
"A dilemma… nothing big," I replied, resting my head on my knees as I placed my phone on the other ear.
"Boy problems?" He hesitated before talking. I hummed and he sighed.
"You finally able to meet that childhood friend of yours?" He breathed a sigh and I replied with a quiet "yes".
"If you ever need any help, I'm here to support you, you know that right?" He reassured me, I bit my lip knowing full well he was serious, but I had this feeling if he were to get involved by supporting me, misunderstandings would arise.
"I know, but I'm okay. Really. I'll message you tomorrow, I'm sleepy," I faked yawn and he chuckled over the line.
"Good-night, Hibiki," he quietly said and we both hung up. I saved his number on my phone and placed it on my bedside table. I sighed to myself, trying to sleep. I miss you too. I whispered to myself as sleep took over me.
Ohoho, Kenneth makes an appearance so early! Let me know what you think!
Hibiki~
