33,058 Years after Manwё and Melkor Entered Arda
"How could we not have seen this coming, Lord Manwё?" Hadrian asked as they approached the fallen Northern Lamp, with a portion of the host of Manwё, with the other portion being led by Varda to the Southern Lamp.
"I wish I understood my friend, we supposed that since Melkor had not acted in so many years that perhaps he had given up his designs to disrupt the music," Manwё said sadly.
"I know, and we should have remembered that he is a lot more cunning than that, and clearly he knew that Tulkas was getting married and so struck as soon as he knew that he would be unable to fight," Hadrian said irritated that they had not been able to avoid the disaster of the two great lamps being destroyed.
"Hadrian, remember that while it may be hard now, we will overcome, and as my brother said we shall one day cast him out forever. Take courage for we are not defeated," A woman with long silver hair said kindly.
"Of course, my lady Nienna, as always your council is most welcome," Hadrian said kindly before she turned and walked away.
"So, when are you going to ask Mandos and Irmo for their sister's hand?" Ulmo asked walking over to them after Nienna walked away.
"I can't my task from Ilúvatar makes loyalty to one woman nearly impossible, and I couldn't do that to her," Hadrian said looking at the ground.
"Do you not think it would be better to let her make that decision, dear Hadrian?" A man who looked very much like Nienna asked walking over.
"Lord Irmo, I had thought you had went to the southern tower with Lord Mandos," Hadrian said recognizing the man immediately.
"And leave my dear sister unsupervised with you, that would not be good," Irmo said with a chuckle.
"I would not do anything to offend her," Hadrian said defensively.
"I know as does Mandos, nor would you talk to her in fear that one of your close kin who work closely with us would tell us falsehoods," Irmo said rolling his eyes.
"Which is exactly what would happen, I swear as one of the mightiest of the Maiar and the wisest of them, you truly are afraid of falsehoods when it comes to your honor," Ulmo said with a laugh.
"Indeed he is, now Hadrian, my sister is aware of your role in the music as the great gatherer and unifier of the children of Ilúvatar, and that though we have seen no sign of any of them that your role will likely include befriending kings and queens, and saving damsels in distress, and many will fall in love with you. Yet we also know you will not abuse your role, and only touch those who father anoints for you to," Irmo said simply.
"Indeed, and he has not yet done so for any yet, as much as I care for Nienna," Hadrian said sadly.
"Hadrian, how dense are you, for one so wise, you sure are blind, have you not seen how you two are the sole pair of ranking members who are still single, for crying out loud even Ulmo has recently started courting Fisuné of the great river," Manwe said rolling his eyes.
"Hey!" Ulmo said acting slightly offended.
"He has a point Lord Ulmo, as the second in the order you are the last save Nienna to be courting or married," A woman wearing green said walking over to them.
"Lady Yavanna, I would have thought you would have gone with your husband Aulё, not joined us," Hadrian said respectfully.
"Since Varda lead that company which my husband had already said he would go on before she had said that, we felt it would be best if six Valar went in each company, so while he went south, I came north, I know Estё is around here somewhere as well, so can I assume we are talking about Hadrian and Nienna?" Yavanna asked with a smile.
"Of course, what else would we be talking about?" Ulmo asked with a smirk.
"Indeed, now another point for you to consider Hadrian and then we shall leave you be as we approach the mount where the Northern Lamp had been. Are you so arrogant that you believe that just because we are the creations of Ilúvatar that your role removes us from your task, or do you think that solely due to you being from among our number, that if war was to break and Manwё was incapable to lead that we would follow you, just consider those things," Irmo said before falling silent as they quickly approached the fallen tower.
33,537 Years after Manwё entered Arda
"Welcome my friends and family, we are gathered again as a whole to celebrate both the planting of the two trees which will give light to the world when the children of Ilúvatar awaken according to his design, but also to celebrate the unions of Lord Ulmo and the Maia Fisuné of the great River, and also the union of Hadrian the Gatherer and Lady Nienna," Manwё said with a smile as they stood beside the two great trees.
"Finally, I had almost thought father would have to come down himself to tell Hadrian to join with Nienna," A tall man with a bow on his back said loudly.
"Truly Lord Oromё? I am sure that if I was that slow father would have left me be," Hadrian said rolling his eyes.
"Love, ignore Oromё, he is simply mourning since you are getting a start on your role while he has not begun his role yet," Nienna said lovingly.
"Ouch, that must hurt, if the Lady of grief says you are grieving you must be," Tulkas said with a grin.
"Oh, shut it Tulkas," Oromё said with a grin of his own.
"Though she does have a point Oromё, in a season, once the trees are stronger, we should again go forth and seek the our younger kin, so they can be kept safe from Melkor and his servants," Yavanna said simply.
"Or we could just remain here and leave the rest of the world be, since somehow whenever we feel we are strong we are beaten by Melkor," The man who stood closest to Yavanna said cautiously.
"Aulё, do you truly think that is wise? I am sure if we just left things be, eventually Melkor would have a force strong enough to overrun us, and if he also had our younger kin at his side we would have no chance of victory and the harmony would be fully destroyed," Hadrian said calmly.
"Well what if we were to create an army of our own?" Aulё asked slowly.
"They would have no souls, and without father's blessing, they would be cursed, please tell me you have not created beings like Melkor has," Manwё said fear coming across his face.
"Well I started to craft, but did not even consider giving them sentience without Eru's blessing," Aulё said slowly as a bright light descended.
"What was that my son, that you need of me?" Eru asked as he appeared causing everyone to fall to their knees.
"Father, in my concern of the forces that Melkor has created, I created 14 bodies for souls to start a new race, but I will go and destroy them, as I know only thou has the right to create life," Aulё said sadly.
"Why will you destroy them? I have no qualm with your desire to do like I have done before, and as an act to protect the world I have asked you to govern. No, go forth my son, I bless your children and accept them as my own, though they shall sleep until after the first of my own children, your younger kin shall wake first," Eru said lovingly.
"Father, can you tell us when they shall awaken?" Manwё asked cautiously.
"Before you next come in conflict with Melkor the first shall awaken, while the lesser shall not awaken until many years after, even after the children of Aulё waken, and Yavanna, I know you also wish to make guardians of plants and animals, and I shall bless them too, but they shall wake after your husband's children," Eru said lovingly.
"Thank you, father, I knew Aulё was working on something and while I did not fully know what I figured generally what he was doing," Yavanna said with a huge grin.
"Now, I do not have much time here, I simply wanted to aide you with this information, and let Hadrian know that I bless this union, as the first of many he shall have in his role as gatherer," Eru said before vanishing once more.
AN: The reason why Harry was so unsure about being with Nienna was because I was, when I first started formulating this story, almost a year back, I planned to have them together as part of the pairing, but then I dropped that so there would be two of the Valar who are single, but it kept being in the back of my mind, so that is why Harry is with Nienna.
