Chapter 2: first lessons

"I just don't know what to do! I mean she wants me to teach her Japanese but I don't know if I can! I mean what if I mess up and she hates me!? what if I'm a terrible teacher from the start!? what if she finds someone better!? I'm not overthinking this, am I?" Izuku rambled
Currently, our green curly-haired hero was on the roof of the 1-A dorms with Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Mineta. Apparently, Tokoyami came up here to enjoy the view when he wanted to relax, meanwhile, Kaminari and Mineta come up to the roof because it was a cool hangout spot and even brought two chairs and a small table, while Izuku just arrived up on the roof while overthinking a certain situation and found himself on the roof and sharing what happened with the three that were there before him
"Izuku, your my friend and I'm gonna be honest with you" Tokoyami began "Yes, yes you are overthinking the situation"
Izuku looked at him and nodded, "Thanks Tokoyami" Replied Izuku
"yeah dude, don't sweat it," Kaminari said "Just be cool and try your best," He said
"Thanks, Kaminari," Izuku said "Anyway, enough about me, what have you guys been up to lately?"
"Eh, not much, trying to bring up my grades and stuff" Kaminari replied
"I and Kinoko went the theaters to see a rerun of the Notebook," Tokoyami said "Wasn't that bad"
"I've just been trying to pick up chicks," Mineta said nonchalantly
'of course, you have' the other three boys thought.
"Well, despite this, tell me Izuku, why have you agreed to help Pony with her Japanese?" Tokoyami asked
"Well, she found me speaking in English with my dad and she had asked me to teach her, and while I was hesitant, she made a really good argument on why I needed to teach her" Izuku replied
"What about Monoma or Present Mic?" Kaminari asked
Tokoyami, Kaminair, and Mineta sat in silence as it slowly registered in their brain why they weren't the best option
"Oh!" the three said
"Yeah..." Izuku said "Anyway, yeah, after I realized I was pretty much the only other person here to teach her Japanese, I felt like I needed to help her, there was just something telling me to help her"
Tokoyami chuckled, "And there you go again, being all heroic and such," He said
Izuku kinda smiled embarrassed at the statement, knowing it was true, if someone needed help with anything, Izuku couldn't really say no, it was just who he was
"Anyway, I actually have to meet her later today, which was why I was freaking out..." Izuku said "but thanks for talking some sense into me guys"
Tokoyami just smiled, "We really didn't we just told you that you were overthinking it," He said with a smile
"Again, talking some sense into me" Izuku joked and smiled "Anyway, I'll see you guys later"
With that, Izuku left the roof and headed back downstairs to enjoy the rest of his free time before he had to meet up with Pony
Meanwhile, In the 1-B dorms, and more specifically in Pony's room, a very similar situation was going on...
"I just don't know what to do! I mean I asked him to help teach me Japanese but I don't know if I'll be able to! I mean what if I mess up and I take up to much of his time and he hates me!? what if I'm a terrible listener and won't even get what he saying sometimes!? What if I get bored and fall asleep!? AHHHH! I'm freaking out!" Pony whined
Currently, our Heroine was in her room with Kinomk, Reiko, and Itsuka. Apparently, Pony had invited the three girls to tell them the good news only to start talking about it before her thoughts began to go to turn into doubts and worries.
"Aw pony," Itsuka began I'm sure nothing like that will happen, besides I don't think Izuku's the kind of guy to just give up on a person no matter what the problem is"
Pony looked at her with big water eyes "you think so?" Pony asked
"yeah girl, don't sweat it," Kinoko said "Just try your best," she said
"Thanks, Kinoko," Pony said, she then took some calming breaths and looked back to her friends "sorry about that, but enough about me, what have you three been up to lately?"
"Not much" Reiko replied
"I and Tokoyami went to the theaters to see a rerun of the Notebook!" Kinoko said, "It was so romantic~!"
"Eh, you know, I'm just doing what I regularly do," Itsuka said "Just staying in my room and reading"
'Your social life is lacking big sis' the other three girls thought.
Itsuka looked at their expression and knew what all three of them were thinking and sighed, still she continued the conversation, "Anyway, Pony, tell me how and why did you ask Izuku for help with your Japanese?" Tokoyami asked
Pony chuckled nervously, "Well, I accidentally found him speaking in English with his dad over the phone and I was a bit surprised and since he was another person who I sort of knew that spoke English I had asked him to teach me," Pony told her
Reiko then looked at Pony, "wait, why didn't you ask-"
"Monoma or Present Mic?" Pony but in
The three nodded and she then gave them a look that said "Really?" and the three girls realized what she was getting at and agreed with her
"Fair enough," the three said
Pony nodded, "Anyway, that's why Izuku is pretty much the only other person here to help me with my Japanese"
Kinoko giggled, "Oh this feels like something out of a romance anime!" she said "The Foreign students need help and the nerdy yet heroic fellow classmate helps teach her and they begin to bond over that one little teaching session~! before you know it both of you will have caught feelings for each other!"
the three girls sighed knowing her inner romantic was showing, still, Pony blushed at what she had said since it was pretty embarrassing
"Kinoko, this isn't some romance manga or romcom," Reiko said
"She's right-" Itsuka began
"I'd say this is more along the lines of some fanfiction where two characters who never interacted get a chance to talk and then they start falling for each other" Reiko said
"Reiko not you two..." Itsuka said with a groan and a sigh
Pony just blushed red a little bit, but she then looked to her phone and saw that it was nearly time for Izuku to get here
"Oh geez! You guys gotta go! I need to clean my room!" Pony cried "I'll see you guys when I'm done with the lessons!" Pony then let the three of them out as fast as she could and shut the door behind them

Right now, Izuku was now in Pony's dorm room. He had made it safely and thankfully Monoma wasn't there and Oddly enough Kinoko had been the one to lead him to Pony's room and he knocked on her door and he could hear her fumbling around inside and he waited a little bit before the door had opened and there she was. When Izuku saw her he was a bit surprised at what she was wearing, it was a bright orange undershirt with a pair of light blue jeans and she didn't wear her shoes that usually protected her hooves. She let Izuku in with a smile and a Hello in English and Izuku responded the same way.
Right now, Pony and Izuku seated on the floor with a small table on the floor of Pony's room.
"So you can speak little Japanese, right?" Izuku asked
"Yes," Pony replied "Though, I'd have to talk a little slow and think hard to make sure to get the words right" She replied to him
"Alright, then try to speak as naturally as possible in Japanese as normal as you can, then I'll point out your mistakes and the things you did right," Izuku told her
Pony nodded and began speaking in Japanese as naturally as she could. "I woke up this morning and went to get a cup of juice and an apple to start the day, which I usually eat in the morning because I just really love apples!"
Pony kept on talking in Japanese as naturally as she could, Izuku noticed her accent had remained consistent in every syllable, he had also noticed then when she got really passionate she switched to English for a few seconds before returning to Japanese, though Izuku didn't mind as he smiled as she talked.
Izuku then signaled her to stop, and he smiled at her, "Not bad, the grammar is fine, nothing wrong with that, though you slipped back into English sometimes when you got really excited about something, also when you wanted to express some things in Japanese you sounded a bit like a robot so that might throw people off a little bit, but overall, you did really well, I don't actually see a lot of problems with your Japanese" Izuku told her
Pony smiled widely and joy overtook her as she heard Izuku's overall evaluation of her Japanese, and she was about to slip back into English but she focused her mind and regained herself "Thank you very much!" She said, in Japanese while still sounding very happy
Izuku smiled "See! You're even controlling when you switch, so your already improving! That's great!" He said
Pony beamed more and Izuku almost couldn't handle the pureness that radiated off of her! but he focused himself and looked at her
"Alright, well, I think we should also try something a bit more difficult," Izuku said
"Like what?" Pony asked
"Like big words or tongue-twisters," Izuku said
"Tongue...twisters?" She repeated with a bit of a nervous look
Izuku nodded, "Yeah, having you do some tongue twisters to avoid the chances of you stuttering or maybe even slipping during a conversation, it's something I do sometimes when I don't want to stutter anymore"
"Is that why you can sometimes sound like your rapping to Eminem?" Pony asked
Izuku just felt a little embarrassed, it wasn't the first time someone had compared his fast muttering to Eminem's fast rapping, in fact, Izuku once attempted to rap the fast part of rap god when he was younger, and while he was very proud that he could do it, his mom didn't really like a 10-year-old kid rapping some English swears and other bad things, she almost had a heart attack!
Izuku sighed, "Yeah..." Izuku said "Anyway let's begin"
And with that, he told her some tongue twisters and told her to repeat them in Japanese, she did so, and each time she did, Izuku would ask her to try and do it a bit faster, she fumbled with her words here and there, but overall, it was a good experience for Pony and she enjoyed it. Izuku was a good teacher and she loved having him around. Not once did he complain when she messed up, he just told her to try again and would even sound out some words with her. Today was a great day for Pony, for once, while she was here, she didn't feel like a fish out of water... at it was all thanks to Izuku.
