The sun finally crept across the sky, signaling to the Smashers that it was time to wake the hell up.

Sunlight leaked a cross Samus's warm cocoon. She desperately tried to cover her face with the bed sheets, but she finally gave in and crawled out of bed.

Samus made her way towards the shared bathroom of all the female Smashers, and once inside, met up with Rosalina, Bayonetta, Zelda, and Jigglypuff.

Rosalina had curlers in her pale blonde hair, and Jigglypuff was attempting to put on mascara, probably to impress Kirby or some bs.

Samus scooted into an empty space on the sink surface, looking at her face in the mirror.

"Good morning, Samus." Purred Bayonetta. Samus could tell that Bayo woke up looking naturally beautiful. Not that she still didn't put on a layer of make up before heading out. It was the same problem with the Princesses. Samus, on the other hand, couldn't give two shits about what she looked like.

"Mornin'." Samus grumbled a reply. Why had she come into the restroom again? Oh right.

She picked up a brush and started trying to tame the monster of knots that had formed on her head during the night. Once that grueling task was done, she pushed through the restroom doors, and headed towards her room again to get dressed.

She managed to quickly throw on a blue tank top and jeans, then made her way down stairs.

Once she entered the crowded cafeteria, she grabbed a cup of coffee and plopped down on a chair at an empty table, resting her head on her hand.

Samus could only make out some of the conversations that could be heard over the loud commotion, but she was able to hear some others complaining about Pikmin.

Suddenly, a hand clad in yellow glove landed on the table next to her. She looked up, her tired eyes meeting with the visor of a very well-known helmet.

"Good morning, Captain Falcon." Samus murmured.

"Morning. Ready for a day full of fighting and strategies?"

"Not exactly."

He sat down next to her.

"Want anything to eat? I can bring it to ya."

"No thanks," she replied, coffee mug covering the bottom half of her face, "I'll get some later on."

Before he could speak again, Master hand floated up to the mini stage in the corner of the cafeteria.

The over-sized hand pulled a microphone out of no where, and began to speak.

"I hope you are all having a good morning so far!" He said, "There is a special announcement I need to make, so make sure you're paying attention."

A couple fighters who were quietly chatting, put their conversation away to stare at the giant hand.

"So as many of you know, we sometimes hold tournaments for everyone to get a chance to fight each other, and it just so happens that we're coming close to one soon, only a month left. But there will be a bit of a difference this year. This year, it will be open for the public to come and watch physically. There will still be cameras, but there will also be a gawking audience! So make sure you give it your all."

A couple Smashers exchanged nervous glanced, but Master kept going.

"Now I know some of the new comers here are confused at what we do during a tournament, but it's actually very simple: Every Smasher is paired up with a component, they fight, there is one winner, and that's that. After all the winners are selected, they all come up onto the stage and pose or some shit. I don't know, it's really up to you."

Most of the confusion from the crowd had died down a bit as well as the nervousness.

"This only leaves you with a month to train and get better. So after today's matches, you will be having lots of off time to practice. So make sure you do. Oh. And also, in three weeks, the charts of who you will be going against will be posted on the News Board." He nodded his body towards a large bulletin board hanging on the wall of the cafeteria.

"So I hope you're all motivated to do this, because you have no choice. Moneys running a bit low, so maybe we'll have a hand-shaking stand for some Smashers after the fights, too. Charge five bucks per hand shake or something. Anyways, have a good rest of your day, and don't forget to train after your battles today."

Samus and Falcon exchanged glances as the floating hand departed from the stage, and dispersed from the cafeteria.

"Well then," Samus started, "I guess I'd better go get better clothes on."

She got up from the table and walked off, leaving her coffee cup with Captain Falcon, who leaned back in his chair, legs propped on the table, and finished off the contents left in the mug.

The fights started in an hour. That left Samus with some time to get changed and drown herself in more caffeine. She desperately needed it.

When 10:00 finally rolled around, all the Smashers had gathered around on the battle grounds, preparing or their fights.

Today consisted of regular fights, so no one had been in the back area, where they were normally asked to go when they had 'more important' battles to attend to. They all gathered on the grandstand, some were sitting, other were gathered at the rail that separated the fighting ground from the audience.

Samus walked out in her Varia suit, helmet under her arm, and decided to sit by herself. Unfortunately that didn't last long, as the Captain who had previously joined her, sat down next to her.

"So, who ya betting on?" He asked, not even bothering to look at her face.

"No one in pericardial." She responded. "You, maybe?"

He looked up in surprise, "really?"

She didn't reply. She hadn't been too close to the Captain. They only ever shared a couple words after/during battles and in the morning.

They sat there in silence. After a little while, Master Hands voice boomed out from a speaker that had been located somewhere from up above.

"Alright, let's get today started. First up we have... Little Mac vs. Pikachu!"

Samus spotted the boxer and electric rat head to the stage. They both walked over to a small elevator like contraption, that had dim glowing light coming from the inside. Once on it, they disappeared behind the closing doors, and reappeared on the floating stage platform in the middle of the rows of seats. It had changed from before, how a towering structure that was clearly Peach's castle.

Samus wasn't sure, but she could've sworn she saw Little Mac blow her a kiss before he launched himself at the rodent.

This was one of the many things that annoyed the shit out of Samus. Ever since she showed up here, she had constantly been asked to dinner by the men of the Smash community. It wasn't that she didn't like any of the men who had asked her, it was because they were after one thing. Wide hips, D cup, blonde hair, blue eyes.. She sometimes wished that people still mistook her for a man.

A shock or electricity shook the ground as Pikachu lay a final hit down on the boxer. He went flying off the stage, into the fake sky that had been a wavering backdrop for the castle setting.

They reappeared in the elevator, Little Mac had Pikachu on his shoulder.

"That was a nice one!" Little Mac spoke to Pikachu, who pika'd in agreement.

"Next up," boomed Masters voice from above, "Pit vs. Bayonetta!"

Samus could see the small angel gulp in fear, as he made his way over to the elevator.

As the fights went on, Samus and Falcon made smartass comments and cheered for the winning fighters. She was surprisingly enjoying herself. This wasn't as uncommon as you might've thought. There was something about the F-zero racer that made Samus enjoy his company. She knew exactly what it was.

During their conversations, battles, even when they passed each other in the hallways, he had never actually made a move on her. He had respect. Something many of the Smashers didn't have. Even when other females made a move on him, he kindly declined. She sometimes felt bad for not keeping in touch with him as often as she would've hoped to.

Soon, Master announced that the next fight had Captain Falcon in it. He stood up, and waved at her.

"Wish me luck, Samus."

She gave him a thumbs up, before he promptly jogged down the stairs.

He won. He always did, with his famous move 'Falcon Punch'. Pac-Man went flying into the backdrop of Brinstar, beeping angrily as he disappeared.

When Falcon appeared, instead of waving to his female Smash fans, he went running back up to her.

"Did I do good?" He asked, a bit out of breath.

Samus, a bit surprised by his actions, answered.

"Yeah. You did."

He smiled at her and then slumped back down in his seat from before. Suddenly, they heard Master Hand's voice boom over the speaker.

"Next up, Marth vs. Samus!"

Now it was her turn.

Samus put her helmet on, and started to walk towards the stairs.

"Good luck." She heard Falcon call after her.

Samus stepped into the elevator beside Marth. He glanced at her, and then gave her a friendly smile.

"Ganbatte, Samusu" his soft voice was somewhat hard for Samus to understand since it wasn't her first priority to learn Japanese, but from what she knew, she knew that he was telling her good luck.

They both appeared on the mossy, slime covered wood planks of Kongo Jungle. There was a light sprinkle of rain dazzling Samus's visor.

She focused on her target, ready for when the buzzer went off, signaling when they bash each other's faces in.

It did.

Samus darted for the prince. He readied himself for a close attack, but instead was greeted with four or five missiles to the face. He sputtered back, waving the smoke away from his face. When it had cleared, she was gone. He crouched down to avoid any skyward attacks, but she came from behind, and roughly head-butted the prince. He coughed, but then drew his sword, and sliced at her gut. His hit was successful and Samus skittered back slightly, before blowing off an ass ton more missiles and beam blasts. Most of them hit their target, leaving Marth out of breath. But he couldn't give in against the Huntress. Especially since Zelda had been watching. He charged at his opponent, stabbing at her gut once more, and then catching her in a series of sword swings. But before he could lay another hit, she disappeared again. He wasn't about to get tricked again, so he quickly whirled around, only to find empty air.

He stood there in confusion, but before he could question her disappearance any further, he heard a slight tap underneath of him. He looked just in time for the bomb Samus had planted, to blow up in his face. She rolled out of her morph ball form, and stretched. She wasn't done yet.

Well, good. Neither was he.

He charged at her again, sword raised. She dodged an attack from in front, but was then caught from behind by his sword. She jumped back from the raging sword fighter. She knew very well that he could only take so much more, and she knew actually what move would push him over the edge.

She pointed her gun at him, starting to charge up her beam blast attack. He was crouching, staring at her visor. He knew what was about to happen. It was charged, she aimed. But then, she felt it again. A quick flash of pain flew through his ribs, causing her to fumble. The price saw his opportunity and dashed towards her. She quickly shook off the sensation and realized that if she didn't act now, she would end up losing just as she had the day before with Bowser.

She shot.

"The winner is.. Samus!" Master hand declared, as the Prince spiraled off into the sky.

She appeared next to Marth, their Smash fans gathered around. Samus heard Zelda, Palutena, and a couple other girls gushing over Marth, saying stuff like 'oh, you'll get her next time!' And 'it's okay! Everyone loses sometimes!' She also heard people talking to her. Most of the Smash men had been cheering for her, along with some of her closer female companions. She suddenly felt the force of a hand on her tall shoulder.

"Nice job out there!" Falcon congratulated.

She took off her helmet, shaking her blonde mess everywhere. "Thanks."

After a couple more people coming up to her and personally congratulating and Ridley, Bowser and GanonDorf booing at her and calling her stuff like 'blonde haired ditz', Samus decided that it was time that she left. She didn't have to stick around for the other fights.

She deactivated her Varia suit, and began to walk down the hallway that led to the entrance of the battle grounds. She stared at the ground, focusing on where she has been stepping, when suddenly she stopped. She had ran into something.. or someone.

She looked up, only to meet face to face with Solid Snake. He was staring at her. She backed up, so she wasn't right up against him, and then attempted to make a getaway by walking around him. Unfortunately, his arm stuck out against the wall, trapping her.

"What do you want, Snake?" She fused, "And please make it quick. I've got stuff to do."

"I was wondering if maybe you'd want to hang out sometime." He grumbled.

One of the things Samus hated about Snake was that he never spoke up. He was also so dense and quiet. It sometimes reminded her of herself.

"Sorry, but my schedule is pretty tight." She huffed in annoyance.

"C'mon, Sam. You always say that. Why don't I buy you a drink, we can get to know each other better.." he suggested, but not in a friendly sort of way.

Out of the blue, Samus felt the strong urge to slap him. So she did. It made a nice satisfying spanking noise. He looked shocked.

"Don't. Call me Sam." She muttered fiercely. "And I think I know enough about you already."

She pushed past him, leaving him with his mouth open.

She really needed a shower right now. For both comfort and also because she had been sweating up a storm in her Varia suit.
