Chapter 1: The Illness Hypothesis
"Do we have to go?"
"Yes. And a reminder, Penny, there's free alcohol in business class- don't abuse it." Sheldon said
"Relax. I'm not gonna drink."
"Why? You pregnant?" Bernadette inquired
"Wha...? No. No, I just, you know, I don't like to drink when I fly."
"Please. I've seen you drink in the shower." Bernadette said
I shot a fleeting glance to Leonard who just smiled while Howard made some ridiculous comment, as per usual. What Leonard and I didn't know is that we'd be announcing our baby to our friends in just a few hours.
*after a few hours in the air*
Sheldon came running to me, while Penny went to the bathroom.
"Leonard... we need to do something about your wife." Sheldon said
"What's the matter?"
"She is clearly sick, and she's gonna take us all down with her."
"She's not sick, Sheldon."
"She is, and I'm gonna catch it, and it's gonna ruin the greatest day of my life."
"I promise you're not going to get what she has."
"What's going on?" Penny said as she returned
Unclean! Unclean!
"What?"
"He thinks you're sick."
"Oh. Should we tell him?"
"Well, if we don't, he might try and jump out of the plane." I said, hoping that might be an ever so remote possibility.
"Yeah. Doesn't answer my question."
"Tell me what?"
"I'm pregnant, Sheldon." Penny said as I smiled
"You're right, I can't catch that" Sheldon said and walked away.
"What happened to "I'm never gonna have kids"?" Amy asked with the biggest smile
"It was an accident. I went out drinking with Sheldon."
"Oh, my gosh. We're sister wives?"
"No. Then I went home and slept with Leonard."
"While fantasizing about…"
"Leonard" I said as if I would ever fantasize about sleeping with Sheldon.
**At the hotel**
I hated to see Penny like this, this morning sickness doesn't make it fun.
"Okay, that's it for the fish. We'll be back with the meatballs after a short word from our sponsor." Penny said as she looked up from the toilet bowl.
