I stumble with false steps

While you lead the way.

I want to keep this forever,

But I know that I can't stay.

Eachulan was the second youngest fallen angel and Muck's only demon ally. They looked like quite the strange pair together. Muck's hair was pitch black while Eachulan's was more of an orange-ish tuft. Muck was controlled and calm, almost always ready with one contract or another. Eachulan was unpredictable. Playful and goofy one moment and a wild, ruthless hyena the next. Despite that, they had each other's backs.

"Eachulan! H⊆greenest Eachulan!" Muck chanted as he threw raw hamburgers in the chalk circle. Eachulan finally appeared after several hours, looking extremely annoyed. He wearily took out a worn-looking notepad and pencil.

"You have my phone number!" he aggressively wrote. "No need to kill 50 cows each time you want to talk!" Muck rolled his eyes and ignored the pointed comment about his "old-fashioned" ways.

"Forget the cows, Eachulan! I have an assignment for you I think you'll enjoy," Muck sighed. Eachulan stood up and gave him a small smirk.

"What do your lowliness wish for today? Please tell me, oh mighty one!" he wrote, sarcasm dripping out of every word. Muck just was relieved that it was one of Eachulan's good days. It felt like a punch in the stomach each time that Eachulan looked at him with confused, terrified eyes and scrambled away from him like an abused puppy.

"How would you like to annoy the Archangel Michael?" Muck asked with a goofy grin. Eachulan eyes lit up as he lightly traced his hands over one of the many burn scars on his face.

"I think I would enjoy that very much." he wrote with a malicious smile.

Raphael was thrilled to find an excuse to not meet with Micheal. A demon needed to be thwarted in Eygpt and Raphael was Heaven's only field agent. The timing alone was enough to make Raphael suspect Muck's involvement. Micheal was not pleased but claimed to understand the problem. He rescheduled the check-up for the next decade, claiming that there was "no rest for the good". Raphael laughed the entire trip to Eygpt, not caring about the odd looks that everybody gave him because of it.

Eachulan was not surprised when the angel that Muck kept on talking about came to Egypt to crash the party. However, he was surprised when Raphael's eyes widened and he hesitantly asked, "What happened to you?" Eachulan slowly stood up and took out his notepad and pencil.

"Michael," he replied. "Michael happened." Eachulan only remembered his Fall, but he remembered it in vivid detail.

Eachulan was pushed on the bright white ground with a hard shove. Michael came towards him with a cold, merciless glare and used an effortless miracle to wrap unholy chains around his body. "You truly thought that you could fool Heaven forever, traitor?" Michael spat. "You and your pet demon shall not go unpunished for your trickery!"

Eachulan had tried to reply but was quickly cut off by a quick punch to the stomach. "Silence, traitor. I shall make sure nobody ever hears your lies again!" Michael barked. Sandalphon grinned as Eachulan's mouth was forced open and his tongue was cut off. "There," Michael declared with a cruel smirk, "That's better. Can't have angels screaming and begging in Heaven. That's what Hell is for."

Eachulan was silent as his wings were slowly broken. He was silent as he was tied up to a pole and burnt by hellfire in a way that just barely let him live. He didn't say a word as his broken, burning wings were finally ripped away from his beaten body. He stayed quiet as he fell from Heaven and lost everything he had ever loved. He was silent because there was no way for him to ever speak again.

"Oh, I'm…" Raphael stammered, but he quickly understood that the demon didn't want his pity. "Thank you," he said instead, holding his hands up in a sign of peace. "You saved me from a meeting with him. I want to return that favor. I won't hurt you." Eachulan ran away before the strange, nice angel changed his mind. He felt uncomfortably guilty at Raphael's warm gratefulness. Demons didn't deserve mercy, comfort, or kindness.

Lucinex was shocked when Heaven declared its plan to create another Christ. He was even more surprised when he was chosen to inform Virgin Mary 2.0 about her fate. Ever since he had woken up in Heaven with no memory of his past, Micheal had kept him hidden away in some office. Now, for the first time that he could remember, he was going to see Earth. So far, he hadn't even been given pictures of the animals he had designed in their natural habitats.

Once he arrived on Earth, he was stunned by the number of colours and shapes, brimming with life. He finally arrived at the church where the new Mary lived. As he entered, he sensed a demon and froze. "Show yourself, demon!" he shouted. An embarrassed-looking demon poked its head out of the shadows.

He took out a notepad and a pencil and wrote, "I don't want trouble. I just want to do my job. Where is Mary?" Lucinex stared at him in confusion, not expecting that kind of answer.

"Um… Sorry.." Lucinex stammered, "I can't tell you that … for… business reasons."

"Fair. I'm Eachulan, by the way." Eachulan replied, the shock of his last meeting with an angel still not wearing off. "My boss will not like this. I need to kill her or corrupt her, you see."

"Um… Howdy, Eachulan. I'm Lucinex.," Lucinex replied.

Somehow, his first encounter with a demon managed to end up with them both going to a nearby restaurant for lunch. "Why aren't you eating?" Lucinex asked between bites, already scanning the menu for the next food to try. "This stuff is great!" He didn't want to show the weird demon how scared he was right now.

"Could be poisoned. I don't eat anything because everything could have poison in it. You could be discorperated by tomorrow morning." Eachulan wrote to him, rolling his eyes. He pushed yet another plate of food towards Lucinex with a silent sigh. "You know, I should get back to work. I still have to finish my job."

"Relax!" Lucinex laughed, putting his feet onto the table. "Loosen up a bit! You're meant to be a demon! Have a bit of fun with this!" Lucinex's heart was practically beating out of his chest at all this open rebellion, but he was sick and tired of the same old thing. Eachulan shook his head and stood up.

"I have to go do my job." he wrote with a determined expression on his face. "You might be able to survive not doing your job, but I won't." Lucinex sighed as Eachulan left, taking one last longing glance at the menu. He went to find an old friend, realising that he need all the help he could get.

Eachulan hesitantly entered the church, desperate to find the new Mary no matter what the cost. He immediately started to regret it when his foot touched the holy ground and burnt like … well … Hell. Eachulan scampered backwards, silently cursing in pain. "Hello?" a girl asked from inside. "Who is it?" She came up to Eachulan and looked at him suspiciously, holding a mop like a weapon.

"I've got a message for somebody called Mary." Eachulan quickly wrote, trying to cover up his true motives. "I just tripped and fell on the floor. Sorry for disturbing you." she visibly relaxed and put down the mop.

"Well, you found me!" she laughed. "Sorry about that. I was just mopping the floor."

In truth, there was a lot more going on than just that. Mary had recently finished a shower with holy water (She blessed the water herself, so it wasn't that holy. More like church ground holy than Heaven holy, but still…) She ate a healthy lunch of holy broccoli (the trick is to boil the Hell out of it), holy vegetable soup (She's vegetarian. Love all animals great and small, after all) and a small slice holy cake (No, I don't know how she made that either). Afterwards, she topped up the air conditioner (It sprays holy water, in case you're wondering). Just before she heard Eachulan hopping in pain, she had been mopping the floor with (I bet you can guess this one) holy water.

"Oh." Eachulan wrote nervously. "That means that the message is for you!" His mind was blank for a few minutes as he tried think of a message to tell her. His mind kept wandering back to Lucinex cheekily grinning at him as he put his feet on the table. "Oh right!" Eachulan finally wrote. "You are going to have Her child! Congratulations!"

"What? Me? Are you serious?" Mary gasped, her eyes widening. "This is not what I signed up for!" Eachulan winced and looked around nervously.

"Am I doing this wrong? Are you ok? What was I meant to say?" he wrote down as quickly as possible. Trying to keep Mary's attention as she started panicking. "No panic! I mean fear not! That's what I was meant to say, right?" Mary started screaming and ran away, leaving a very confused, concerned demon behind. What did I do wrong? Eachulan wondered as he started chasing after Mary. What was I meant to do?
