At one of the largest trees in the whole forest, tons of fairies were flying about and it was peaceful at the moment.
Crysta and Pips were having fun hanging out while making sure the forest was healthy as they used their magic to help grow plants.
Everything in Ferngully was beautiful again after the poachers had caused a huge fire when they had taken the baby animals weeks ago.
"It's good over here!" Pips told Crysta, she smiled at him. "All good on my end." Crysta replied to him, the two shared a laughed together.
"OH NO!" A panicked voiced cried out, all the fairies looked up in time to see their friend hit a tree. "Ouch." The same voice whined in pain.
Crysta and Pips flew to where their friend had landed. "Are you okay Batty?" Crysta asked with concern, her friend Batty Koda got back up.
Batty Koda is a bat who had ended up in Ferngully after escaping the lab that he had lived in as he was being abused and tested on by humans.
"Just peachy." Batty replied to her, Crysta checked him over for injuries. "I've got news for you two and it's big!" Batty said with an announcer's voice.
Pips flicked the wires coming from Batty's head. "What news?" Pips asked him, Batty's voice changed back to normal but he didn't get to answer Pips.
"Crysta! Pips!" Mrs. K called out, everyone gathered around her and Nugget. "Mrs. K, Nugget? what's the matter?" Crysta's father asked her in worry.
"Mom and I were at the stream getting a drink when a bright light flashed before us and when we opened our eyes, we saw them." Nugget answered.
Nugget gently set down the two human turned fairies onto the ground. "Is that...are they...Budgie/Zak?!" Pips and Crysta asked together in shock.
This was the news that Batty was going to tell his friends as he had seen the two heroes of the forest laying face down in front of the kangaroo family.
Everyone was shocked to see both heroes of Ferngully as fairies. "What happened to them and how'd they meet?" Pips asked as he looked at Budgie.
Pips saw tear streaks on Budgie's face. "We're not sure how they became fairies or what made it happen." Mrs. K replied to him, she was worried for them.
Before anymore questions could be asked, Budgie and Zak had started to wake up. "W-what happened?" Budgie asked as while trying to open her eyes.
"I-I'm not sure." Zak replied to her, the two manged to get their eyes opened and their vision became clear as they looked up at the blue sky above them.
"Budgie?" Pips gently called, Budgie's head snapped towards his direction. "Pips?" Budgie asked nervously, she and Zak both sat up to see their fairy friends.
"Crysta?" Zak said with hesitation, he wasn't sure if he was dreaming or not. "Hello, Zak." Crysta responded with a smile, Budgie and Zak tried to stand back up.
Both struggled to stand so Pips helped Budgie while Crysta helped Zak. "What happened to you two?" Batty asked them, he was still in shock at the sight of them.
Zak looked at Budgie who had began to cry once more. "I'll tell you what happened." Zak replied as he hugged Budgie while she cried silently in his gently embrace.
Budgie remained silent as Zak explained what happened to her grandfather and two dogs then explained that they had somehow heard Magi's voice talk to them.
Everyone listened as they glanced sadly at Budgie since she had lost the only family she'd had left. "I'm so sorry." Crysta said in sadness, she hugged Budgie softly.
Budgie couldn't take anymore pity so she got out of Crysta's embrace then ran off with her friends calling for her to come back but she didn't listen to them calling her.
"It's not fair! Why'd this have to happen?!" Budgie screamed in anger, she sat down near the stream and pulled out her locket which had a picture of her family inside.
Budgie gently ran her thumb over the picture of her mother Alice and her father Peter then did the same with the picture of her grandpa and two dogs, before sighing.
A sweet tune started to play and Budgie sniffled sadly as she heard the music inside her mind since it had been played at the funeral after her parents had passed away.

In her minds eye, Budgie had heard her mother's voice singing with her. "Mommy?" Budgie whispered sadly, she missed her family now more than ever but knew that her mother was right about one thing.
"Budgie!" Pips's voice called out, she turned to see her friend as he flew to her. "I'm sorry for running off." Budgie said to him, Pips landed before her then gave her a hug to which she returned his embrace.
"It's going to be okay." Pips told her, even though Zak said the same thing, Budgie hadn't believed him but with Pips saying it, she knew that she could believe his words since he's her best friend in the world.
"You'll help me, right?" Budgie asked him, Pips smiled softly. "We all will." Pips answered her, Budgie was shaking but she trusted Pips's words while knowing that she wasn't alone in this life like Alice had said.
Zak, Crysta, Batty and all their friends watched as Pips comforted young Budgie as she clung to him before she started to fall asleep from the exhausting day of events that had brought her to Ferngully today.
Pips lifted Budgie into his arms before flying back to the three that he lived in. "She can rest in here and we can teach her to fly later." Pips told Crysta, she agreed as did Zak before they left to catch up together.
As they left, the spirit of Magi Lune appeared in front of Budgie's sleeping form. "You must be strong as only you and Zak can save Ferngully once more." Magi whispered, she left to let the young girl rest for a while.
