Meant to get this chapter out a lot sooner but a few wonderful things called writers block and exams came in my way. Also, Flydaze, thank you so much for you review!

"Hello passengers of Delta Airlines flight DL609… this is your captain speaking. Since we will be landing at Los Angeles International Airport in a few minutes time, I ask that everyone please fasten their seatbelts. Once again, thank you for choosing Delta Airlines."

The bubblegum colored hedgehog- Amy, let a smile form on her lips as she glanced out of the window at the sprawling metropolis below her. To say she was happy would be an understatement. In fact, she was actually over the moon, well not literally, since the metal bird she had been in for the past hour or so couldn't go that high.

In the few hours that had just passed, she felt as if her life did a 180 degree turn. She didn't even really remember waking up, and the next thing she knew, she was at the airport, about to board a plane for California.

It had always been her dream to live in LA, or another city, but her slightly overprotective parents had never allowed her. And finally, after begging through her senior year of high school, her parents finally made her dream come true.

She wasn't even there yet, but she already knew it. The hustle and bustle of Los Angeles was going to be a world away from her old home in upstate New York.

Amy could feel the rate at which her heart was beating at going up, quite a lot actually, as the plane made a smooth touchdown onto one of the runways at LAX. She was quite literally, about to explode from all her excitement. The only thing that was holding her back was the fact that she was strapped down to a seat in economy class.

She followed her fellow passengers out of the plane after it rolled to a stop, turning her head in all directions as she looked around the terminal in awe. The pink hedgehog did get a few stares from people who thought she was being a bit weird, but who could blame her?

Sure Amy was excited about moving to Los Angeles but she did have some anxiety about living away from her parents, but that was a sacrifice she would be willing to make. At least she would be staying with her cousin Rob though.

Amy turned her phone back on and decided to call her brother, Shadow, telling him that she had arrived.

She punched in the numbers and held her phone up to her ear, and waited. And waited… and waited…

Shadow's phone must've been ringing for at least 10 minutes before she hung up with a sigh. Maybe he was asleep with a huge hangover… he did seem a bit drunk when she FaceTimed him last night. Either that or he was just being lazy. Either way, typical behavior of her brother.

Knowing Shadow probably wasn't going to come pick her up, Amy decided to take a taxi to his house where she would be living from now on.

As she hopped into a cab though, she couldn't help but feel that a pair of eyes was fixed on her… and she wasn't wrong…

She would come to know the owner of the pair of eyes shortly.

~(Sonic)~

"Thank you!" Sonic said in his fake, cheerful customer service voice. "Please come again!"

The moment the last of the customers walked out of the diner, the fake smile that was on his face disappeared as well. He sighed in relief as he began cleaning the table up, knowing the lunch service was over and that he could finally take his well deserved break.

"Terima Kasih Sonic." he heard a deep voice with a Malay accent say.

He turned around to face a middle aged blue hedgehog, like him, but with a mustache; his boss, Charles, or "Uncle Chuck" as many called him. Sonic smiled at the older man in response, before going back to cleaning up the table. He patted Sonic on the back and retreated back behind the counter.

"Uncle Chuck-"

He heard his boss' footsteps come to a stop.

"What lah?"

"I-" Sonic sighed. "Never mind…"

"Ai ya Sonic, I know something is on your mind. Tell me when you're ready yeah?"

He sighed again, silently cursing himself. He looked at the clock, seeing that it was already the afternoon now. Almost 24 hours had passed since he was at the bar. Sonic already knew, he could already tell from that single interaction he shared with Fiona last night that all she wanted to do was to get in his pants… like everyone else. He didn't even know why he felt just the slight bit happier when Fiona gave him her number. She was going to end up doing the same that everyone else did anyway…

Then there was Chuck. The man was well… he could be a bit overbearing at times. He cared for Sonic quite a lot. He looked after him like his own son. Not just Sonic though, but all the other employees as well. Still, Sonic regretted letting his thoughts spill out by accident like that.

The blue hedgehog's ears suddenly perked up at the sound of the wind chime on the door ringing. Realizing the dirty bowls from the previous customers were still on the table in front of him, he dashed towards the back of the restaurant where the kitchen was with the dishes, before hurrying back out just as fast.

There in the entryway, a pink furred hedgehog stood, excitedly looking around with wonder. Sonic's eyes settled on her, taking in her sight. She wore a simple outfit, some comfortable looking jeans and a white tee, which he thought complimented her short bob cut quills and jade colored eyes quite nicely, and had a few bags in her hands.

He must've been just staring at her for at least a few minutes before he realized, only coming back to his senses at the sound of her soft voice.

Hehe… hopefully she doesn't know I was looking at her…

"Uh um… hello?"

"Oh y- yes uh…" He managed to stutter out much to his own surprise. "T- table for 1 miss?"

She smiled at him as a reply. "Yeah…"

Sonic quickly came back with a menu and led her to one of the booths.

"So…" the pink furred girl began. "I really like the decor."

"Uh, yeah… I like it too…" he muttered. "Nice homey vibe… can I start you off with a drink?"

"Do you guys have anything strawberry?" she pointed to a small line of text on the menu. "It says 'if you want something that is not on the menu, just ask and if we have the ingredients, we'll make it for you!' here."

"No miss, we don't, sorry. We're all out of strawberries."

"It's fine, I'll just have water then."

Sonic nodded and came back with a cup of water. "Would you like anything else? Our ramen is really good… I mean it is Chuck's Noodle Company after all. We have other sides like gyoza or karaage chicken…"

"Hmm…" she paused to think for a moment. "Can I just get the gyoza wrappers? But can you boil them and add peanut sauce?"

He raised an eyebrow at her slightly odd request, but agreed anyway. "Sure, I guess… I've never heard of that way of eating uh… dumpling wrappers before. Sure sounds interesting."

"Yep." the girl affirmed. "I just want something that reminds me of home… and my mom would always make that for me. Plus, I'll be here for a while so…"

"Alright. I'll be back in a bit."

As he walked away with the order in his hand, he sensed a smirk coming onto his face. This pink girl… there was just something about her. He didn't know why, but he was dying to know more about her… and he had a plan to do so.

Smirking at his dare he say, genius idea, he picked his phone up and dialed a number.

~(Amy)~

Amy's lips formed into a wide smile as she swallowed the last bit of her weird concoction in satisfaction. She was quite surprised that she could be filled with just that small portion of food. She was quite exhausted from exploring her new neighborhood and she just happened to find a restaurant that was willing to just give her some dumpling wrappers with peanut sauce.

The azure hedgehog that took her order was gone afterwards, and a quiet, black and blue striped hedgehog came to serve her, much to her surprising disappointment. There was something about that blue hedgehog that captivated her attention and she couldn't help but just want to keep looking at him.

Do I like him already?

Her cheeks lightly flushed as she thought about it. She did meet him literally just a few hours ago but as soon as he came, he was gone from her sights. Growing up being isolated in the country and homeschooled never gave her any experience in this department, or really any social experience.

Noooo… I can't like him already…

Amy laughed it off, seeing as she believed this slight fluttering of her heart to be a bit stupid. She then picked her bags up and left some money on the table before strolling out the door, content that her stomach was now filled, and began heading to her cousin's house where she would be living from now on.

After punching in the address to her cousin's house on her phone, Amy was quite relieved to discover that it wasn't that far from the restaurant she had just eaten at, or her university. It was only a 10 minute walk away. Maybe she could take a little detour before going there…

She decided that it would be best to go to Rob's place first to drop off her stuff before going back out.

Her footsteps quickened, her heart began to beat faster and her breath hitched. The few odd people that remained on the street at this hour looked at her with confusion. Truth to be told, there really was no reason or threat that would prompt Amy to be walking at such a hurried pace with worry.

Well, it was actually quite a childish reason that she was worried; she was about to be late for her curfew. Her (slightly overprotective) had been demanding that she be home by 8 pm every single day since forever ago.

Amy chuckled, just before cursing herself for getting lost. To be fair though, it was her first day in Los Angeles. Plus, she had just gotten a bit too carried away with wandering around town. Her phone battery was nearing zero and she just remembered that her parents-

Wait… if mom and dad aren't going to be here until tomorrow…

A big smile played on her lips at that thought. No worrying about the curfew for her today at least. She was however, a little tired from all she had done today, moving into her new house, getting mad at Shadow for not picking her up at the airport…

Maybe staying out late wouldn't be such a good idea after all. She could just explore the city tomorrow. School wasn't starting for at least another month or so and she had plenty of-

"Hey…"

A deep male voice sent Amy into a panic. She twisted her head in all directions in search of the source of the sound.

"Yes, you. You with the pink fur…"

Her eyes eventually settled on a group of male echidnas sitting in a black Mercedes Benz convertible. One look at their faces told her everything: she was about to become their next target.

Amy continued walking, increasing her speed and turning her head away from the obviously horny guys, feeling her heart rate increase. This was exactly what she wanted to avoid: unwanted attention. In some weird way though, she was a bit proud of herself. Growing up, she had always lacked a lot of self confidence about the way she looked and well, she had to have been somewhat good looking for her to be attracting this type of attention to herself, right?

"C'mon babe…" the driver, a red furred echidna hummed. "What are you running away for? You know you can get to wherever you're going if you just hop in with us…"

Yeah right, Amy thought. I'm not about to lose my virginity.

"You know he's right." a brown furred echidna in the back seat said flirtatiously. "We can even show you a good time…"

"N- no thanks," she managed out with all her courage. "I t- think walking is f- fine."

"Just get in the car baby," the driver once again said.

"N- no."

Suddenly, she jumped back, hearing the sound of the car coming to a halt. She had been so absorbed in her walking that she neglected to notice the convertible full of horny guys pulling over to the sidewalk.

The red furred echidna got out of the driver's seat and slowly began making his way over to the frightened pink hedgehog. As if it were even possible, Amy felt her heart rate increase even further. She soon realized that she was slowly being forced back into a wall by him.

"NO!" she screamed as loud as she could, but was only interrupted by one of the hands of the echidna slamming into the wall behind her. Her scream was cut short by his other one clapping over her mouth. She closed her eyes, praying that this would be over soon.

"Gosh," he whispered into her ear. "You sure are fussy about this…"

Amy tried to say something, but she realized that his hand was still over her mouth.

"I do like a challenge though. It makes it all the more worth it,"

The echidna took his hand away from her mouth and trailed it down her side to her hand, taking it in his.

"Hop in babe. We'll make your time worth it…"

"I SAID NO!" Amy finally shouted.

"I know," he smirked. "But your body… that tells a completely different story…"

"Didn't you hear her the first time?"

Amy and her would-be kidnapper turned their heads to the side, noticing that now, a blue hedgehog had appeared.

"And who might you be?" the echidna said, still keeping that smirk on his face.

The blue hedgehog grinned as he straightened his shirt and replied with a smirk of his own. "You know man, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let my girlfriend go. And are you deaf buddy? 'Cause I'm about 1000% sure I heard her scream 'NO' just a few moments ago."

Amy's eyes widened at his response. She didn't even know this blue hedgehog, but here he was, claiming to be her boyfriend.

"Well you blue rat," the red echidna began as he raised his fist. "You left your girlfriend alone and vulnerable, and we got to her first. So you can fuck right off buddy boy."

Before she knew it, the blue hedgehog was standing between her and the echidna who had just tried to kidnap her. She saw the now growling and probably pissed echidna with his fist up and flinched. Instinctively, she wrapped herself around an arm of the blue hedgehog who had come to her rescue.

"WE will be out of here as fast as we can," the male hedgehog proudly said.

That was when Amy closed her eyes. She somehow knew that the echidna's fist was coming down towards her at a lightning speed, and began waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

His fist never touched her.

When she finally opened her eyes, she realized that she was in the arms of the blue stranger who had come to her rescue, being carried bridal style. As her emerald green eyes came into contact with his, he flashed her a small smile, before continuing on their escape, increasing his speed.

She could still feel her heart beating a lot faster than normal, and she could hear the screeching tires of the echidnas' car following behind, but the blue hedgehog whose arms she was in was able to stay ahead of them. Amy knew she was safe… for now, but she still had a few doubts about her savior. He could end up doing to her what those echidnas were about to do to her too, and she shouldn't let her guard down.

As much as she wanted to sleep, she forced herself not to, in fear that this blue hedgehog would do something to her, as sweet and as genuine his smile was. Looks can always be deceiving.

Amy did her best to remember the path she and this mysterious blue furred stranger were taking, but unfortunately, she was soon distracted, feeling his muscular chest as she was cuddled up against it. She did remember that there were a lot of turns though, but that was probably just to throw off the car full of angry echidnas.

The pair eventually came to a halt, ending their getaway in front of a small, brightly lit park. The blue hedgehog set Amy down on a park bench and straightened his clothes out, sitting down next to her.

"Thanks-" she began. "For getting me out of there… uh…"

He flashed her another smile. "I'm Sonic."

"Sonic. Thanks. I don't know what would've happened if-"

"I just did what anyone should've done," he cut her off. "Guys should know that there are better ways to woo a girl that don't involve trying to kidnap her…"

Sonic's response caused Amy to let out a small giggle. "Yeah… I'm Amelia by the way… or you can call my Amy."

"Amy," Sonic repeated. "That's got a nice ring to it! I think it suits you very well."

She couldn't help but blush. "T- thanks… I think your name suits you very well too…"

He chuckled. "My real name is actually Mauricio, but since that's my grandpa's name and I want something unique to me, I just go by Sonic."

"It's perfect for you, since you run so fast!"

"Eh," Sonic shrugged. "It's not that fast."

"You outran their car!" Amy remarked.

"I did."

"Anyways…" she continued. "I'll be heading off now. It was nice meeting you Sonic."

The pink hedgehog then stood up, giving him a smile.

"You too Amy- wait."

"Hmm?" she turned back around.

"Well…" the blue hedgehog nervously scratched his head. "Would you uh… like to hang out sometime?"

"Sure!" she happily agreed. "You know… I'm new in town and I thought I should make some friends anyway. College doesn't start for a while though…"

"Yeah… What college are you going to? I actually just finished a year at Cal State."

"I'm going there too!" Amy responded. "Starting this fall actually."

"Well I can assure you, you will love it," Sonic smiled. "I can take you on a tour there tomorrow if you'd like."

"Really?! That would be great."

"Ya welcome."

"Anyways uh…" Amy brushed a quill behind her ear. "What time should we meet up then?"

"How about 1 pm at the main entrance?" Sonic suggested.

"That works for me," She replied. "I'm pretty much free all day tomorrow."

"Ok… 1 pm it is. I'll see you then"

The pink hedgehog stood up and brushed some dirt off her clothes. She began walking away from him and gave him a smile in thanks, turning back around to face him. He waved back at her in response.

Well… that was wild. Almost got kidnapped… but at least, I met a new friend… He seems nice.

She smiled at the thoughts and continued on her way. Instinctively, she took her phone out and checked the time. 9:00. Panicking at the thought of getting chewed out for missing her curfew, she quickened her pace. Hopefully it was worth it.

~(Sonic)~

As soon as the pink hedgehog was out of sight, he sighed in relief. It wasn't that he found her annoying or that he didn't think her company was enjoyable, or even that he was pissed off that he had to save her though. He was just happy that it all worked.

Sonic's happiness was short lived however, as his face twisted into a frown as he heard his phone begin to ring. He looked at the caller ID on the screen, seeing that it was Knuckles, and groaned.

He really wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone right now, especially his red echidna friend, and for good reason. Sure, Knuckles helped him, quite a lot actually, with everything, but he just needed time to think right now.

Just wanting to get this over with quickly, Sonic tapped the green button on the screen.

"Hello Knux?" The blue hedgehog tried his best to sound as enthusiastic as possible.

"I got you what you wanted right? You got your girl. Now get me my money!" he could hear his friend angrily say.

Oh right… Sonic just remembered the deal he had with Knuckles. 200 dollars. Quite a large amount for the simple task which, to be honest, the muscular echidna was already good at.

"Ya still there Sonic?" an annoyed Knuckles continued. "The guys want the money!"

He groaned, but not before covering the microphone of his phone so his friend wouldn't be able to hear. "Fine…" he finally mumbled. "I'll meet you at Mephiles' in 20. Gotta run to the bank first."

Knuckles didn't reply. Sonic just heard the phone cut off. Groaning once more, he got up from the park bench and stretched out his arms. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he began walking in the direction of the bank.

A small sacrifice to make for potentially, happiness for the rest of my life…

Aaaaand that's a wrap for today. Hopefully I get the next chapter out much quicker. Like always, Review and Favorite!
