Chapter 2:
"Hi, Mrs Collier. Im Miss Godard and I will be your doctor today," said Chloe, shaking hands with her patient. She turned round, not focusing on what the woman was saying. She was watching Jac, who was sitting at the nurses station. Her head was in her hands.
"...and thats how Stephen and I got together," finished the patient. Chloe spun back around. She hadn't been listening to Mrs Collier's story of how she had got with her husband.
On the other side of the ward, Nicky was taking the girl in bed 7's blood. Suddenly, the ear piercing sound of heeled boots echoed around Darwin. Nicky heard the person speak. And a cold rush of happiness rushed through her. Suddenly, the person turned to speak to her.
"Dr McKendrick. My, how this place has changed." said the woman, with a strong accent. Nicky turned round to see the girl who had taught her to live well, whatever your life choices.
"FRIEDA!" yelled Nicky, alarming about 3/4 of the staff of the ward and all the patients. Frieda patted her on the head, as if she was a dog.
"Mr Fletcher called me. Where is he?" Frieda asked, moving Nicky to the side. Nicky was taken aback. Not even a proper hello? Must be a Ukrainian thing, she thought.
" He's in his office. On the right of bay 5," Nicky replied, trying to hide her excitement that Frieda was back. Frieda was obviously thinking differently. She thanked Nicky and walked off, her long hair swinging in her pace.
Chloe walked over. "Was that Frieda Petrenko?" she asked, suspiciously. Nicky nodded, as a blur of orange, green and a trolley came flying through the door of Darwin. It was the HEMS paramedics, Iain & Dixie, with the Holby Ambulance Service Paramedics, Jan and Leon. They were pushing a trolley carrying a very bloodstained woman on it. They were followed by two of the ED nurses, David and Robyn. Jan gave the notes to Nicky, Chloe and Kian, who had appeared.
"This is Zosia March, aged 37..."
