"Wendy! Earth to Wendy!" Natsu Dragneel, a fire dragon slayer wizard waved his hand in front of Wendy Marvell's face, who is a sky dragon slayer. They were inside the Fairy Tail guild located in the town of Magnolia. Wendy was sitting at a table with her friends Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfillia, Happy and of course her companion, Carla. She was spaced out looking down on the table before being spooked by Natsu's waving.
"O-oh! I'm s-sorry guys!" Wendy regained herself.
"What's up Wendy, you look like something is bothering you?" Lucy exclaimed in a soft tone.
"Maybe she's hungry and wants some fish." Happy replied while chomping on a fish.
"Happy that's totally not it at all…" Lucy doubted, having a sweat drop over her head.
"Oh! Maybe someone is bothering her, well who is it and I'll beat them up!" Natsu punched his two fists together, looking ready to fight. Lucy didn't say anything and pinched her nose looking annoyed.
"No, that's not it." Wendy shook her head. "It's just that, today is the day I volunteer at Lamia Scale to do another Sky Sister performance with Chelia…"
"And what's wrong with that child?" Carla questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, it's been months since I last did one, and it was *really* embarrassing…" she blushed. "I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it again."
"Nonsense Wendy!" Lucy shot up, holding Wendy's hands. "I remember when me and Natsu saw your performance and you both were great! You'll be just fine!" Wendy smiled back at Lucy, having a bit of confidence.
"Indeed, the feeling of performing on stage in front of several people always fills me with excitement." Erza Scarlet replied, walking over towards the group. Hearing Erza's comment about performing in front of a lot of people shot Wendy's confidence back down quickly. Lucy took quick notice.
"You've done great before, you'll do good again I promise." Lucy laughed slightly. Wendy nods in response.
"Are you sure you can't go?" Wendy asked.
"I'm sorry Wendy, I really am. But we were about to head out on a job soon." Lucy felt bad but when she thought of how low she is on rent she had no choice.
"You can make sure to tell us all about it when you return." Erza replied, putting one hand on Wendy's shoulder. Being reminded of the performance, Carla glanced at the clock and was quickly shocked.
"Wendy! It's almost time for our departure! We should leave before we miss the train!" Carla flew up, opening her wings.
"Ah! You're right! Sorry guys but I have to go! See you soon!" Wendy shot up, quickly grabbing her things before running out, Carla quickly following after. The others give their good lucks and goodbyes before Natsu immediately slumps over on the table looking disappointed.
"Going on jobs won't be the same without them." He whined. Lucy rolls her eyes.
"Oh come on Natsu, we've done plenty of jobs without her."
"Speaking of jobs." Erza looked down at the job poster that was on the table "What job did you decide on?"
Lucy picked up the paper, showing it off to Erza. "There's a monster some townsfolk want to get rid of that lives in the forest, but look!" Lucy frantically points at the reward. "Look at this reward! I'll be able to pay off rent for several months!"
Natsu quickly shot up looking excited, his head catching on fire. "A monster huh? I'm fired up!"
"You sure got over your depression quickly…" Lucy exclaimed quietly.
"If it's a monster we're fighting then don't forget me." Gray Fullbuster, nearly nude, walks over. "I'm not gonna let flame brain here take all the glory."
"What was that ice breath?!" Natsu growled. They both butt heads together giving very angry looks at each other.
"Enough!" Erza gave a serious look that shot through both of them. They quickly retracted from each other sweating profusely. Erza closed her eyes in annoyance before looking back at Lucy.
"Well then, shall we get going?"
"Uuuurrrrgh…" Wendy slouched by the window of her seat looking very sick.
"Honestly, I thought you didn't have motion sickness…" Carla sat on the other side, crossing her arms. She was currently in her human form. Wendy groaned, not looking any better.
"I did too...but it just...showed up." She whined, Carla sighed in response.
"Well try to control yourself, it shouldn't be much longer." Carla looked out of the window after suggesting.
After a few minutes, they could see their stop. Once the train stopped they both got out, Wendy having a hard time standing still looking very sick.
"Wendy! Carla! You two made it!" Running in front of them was a red haired girl named Chelia.
"Wendy? You ok?" She put an arm on Wendy's back.
"H-hi Chelia…" Wendy struggled "Thank you but, I-Im ok…" she tried to stand up straight before wobbling a bit. Chelia grabbed one of her hands.
"Come on, let's get you to the guild." Chelia held one of Wendy's hands while patting her back with her other hand. "I wish I can heal you, I'm sorry…"
"D-don't be! It's okay!" Wendy smiled at her best friend. Chelia smiles back.
"You don't need to worry about her too much Chelia, she's been dealing with this for a bit." Carla insisted, Chelia giving a pouting face at Carla shortly after before the three start making their way to Lamia Scale.
"Your friends couldn't come?" Chelia asked. Wendy shook her head.
"Unfortunately not...they said they had to do a job." Wendy sighed, feeling a little upset.
"Oh, I'm sorry Wendy...but hey! They'll be lacrima vision recording our comeback performance. You can show it to them when you get back!" Chelia tried to cheer Wendy up, however.
"Wait, we're going to be recorded?!" Wendy's face turning red, having to see herself perform made her even more nervous. Carla sighs before muttering "This is going to be a long weekend…"
A couple days pass, Natsu and the others come back from the job they chose, looking satisfied. Except for Lucy who wobbled over to the bar and slouched in her seat.
"I'm back…" Lucy blubbered.
"Welcome back Lucy, did the job go well?" Mirajane, the bartender asked. Lucy sighs heavily.
"It's awful, Mira!" She cried "We only got half of the reward because Natsu, Gray and Erza destroyed the entire forest!" Lucy proceeded to put her face down on the table. Mirajane giggled, not being surprised by what Lucy said.
"Well at least you'll have enough for rent right?" Mirajane asked, trying to get Lucy's hope up.
Lucy sat back up and gave a small smile. "Yeah..I guess you're right…" Mirajane smiles back.
Lucy then looks around in the guild. Seeing Natsu talking to Elfman and others about the monster they faced. She sees Juvia crying all over Gray since she missed him, despite being gone for just a couple days. Speaking of missing…
"Oh, Wendy isn't back yet?' Lucy turned around asking Mirajane. Mira shook her head in response. "I believe she decided to stay the night at Lamia Scale since the performance was so late. She should be back later today."
Lucy frowned and looked down, during the job she kept feeling bad about missing Wendy's performance. She wanted to make it up to her. She stood up from her chair and called Natsu, Happy, Gray and Erza over.
"What's up Lucy?" Gray asked.
"Well you know how we couldn't make it to Wendy's performance?" Lucy asked, the others feeling a little guilty in response.
"Well since she'll be back today, I was thinking of doing something for her!"
The others looked at each other, thinking of what to do. Erza then had an idea and smiled confidently.
"A great idea Lucy!" Erza clenches her fist "and I know *exactly* what to do!" The others looked at Erza, their interest peaked.
"Let's bake her an appreciation cake!" Erza's eyes had stars in them. The others, not so much.
"I don't know Erza...I don't do baking." Natsu replied, Gray raising a hand "yeah, same here."
"You sure you don't just wanna have some cake for yourself do you?" Lucy added, Erza immediately sulking.
"Yeah…" closing her eyes, looking frustrated "how could I be so selfish! Someone, punch me!"
"Now now, you're ok." Lucy nervously laughed. She sat thinking for a moment, then she clapped her hands looking excited.
"Lucy? You have an idea?" Happy asked, flying up. Lucy nods twice, feeling confident herself.
"How about throwing a party for her! We can get the guild mates to join us!"
"A party, heck yeah! We haven't had one in a long time!" Natsu beamed in excitement.
"Aye!" Happy replied.
"Heh, a party huh, sounds interesting." Gray leaned, smirking.
"Does that mean we get to make cake!?" Erza asked, the stars in her eyes coming back.
"Heh heh, yeah I guess." Lucy answered, nervously laughing.
As the others talked about the party, Mirajane walked over.
"What's this? You want to throw a party?"
"Mhm." Lucy nodded "For Wendy! We feel bad for not showing up to her performance so I thought of throwing a party in appreciation of her!"
"Gee hee...Did someone say party?!" Gajeel, the iron dragon slayer, slid in already wearing his ""rockstar"" clothing holding his guitar.
"You changed quickly!" Lucy sputtered. The other guild members, overhearing the conversation, join in on the idea. Lucy smiles brightly as the other members ask to chime in and help throw the party for the youngest member. This really was the most loving guild.
Wendy, Carla and Cheila walk together to the train station. Wendy was looking down, face slightly red. Chelia pats Wendy's back.
"Come on Wendy, don't look like that you were great!"
"I know...it's just, so embarrassing! I've never been good on stages!" Wendy whined.
"If you're going to keep performing you're going to need to get over your stage fright." Carla sighed, currently in her normal form flying next to Wendy.
"Yeah, yeah…" Wendy pouts. She then looks at Chelia.
"Are you sure you wanna come with us? It can get pretty rowdy in Fairy Tail."
"It's okay! Since you've been back in your guild, I've wanted to check it out! Plus I don't mind spending more time with my best friend!" Chelia gave a quick hug to Wendy. Giggling in response, Wendy hugs back.
Once they made it to the train station, they saw caution tape and "do not enter" signs. It looked like the train tracks were being repaired. They shortly heard a man with a speaker phone announcing: "Attention all passengers, we apologize for the convenience however the train station will be closed until next week due to an accident!"
"Whaaaat?! A whole week?!" Wendy bleated.
"Oh no...what are we going to do now?" Chelia asked. Carla looked at the two with a serious expression.
"Well it looks like we have no choice, we'll have to take a carriage back." Wendy immediately held her mouth looking like she wanted to throw up.
"Don't get sick when you're just thinking about it!" Carla blurted. Carriages were far more bumpy than trains. Wendy really didn't want to, however she wanted to get home before her guild mates got worried about her.
"It will take us several hours to get back to Magnolia by carriage so I hope you're prepared child." Carla warned.
Wendy sighs heavily.
"Alright, let's go find a carriage…"
Up on the outskirts of the city of Magnolia sat a tall man on top on a cliff, looking at a full view of the large town. He looked on the horizon and saw the Fairy Tail guild.
"I can see it...the homeland of the Maiden of the Sky…" Hahlos chuckled. He stood up, as his wings expanded. "Soon our bright future will come to be."
