AN- Sorry, all I made the mistake of the setting is Mantle, not mistral. I got the two confused. My bad.
Inside the shack
"So? What's your name? And why were you so eager for me to join?" Hakan asked as he followed the sheep Faunus towards the room he would be staying at.
"Oh, sorry about that, it really slipped out. My name is Fiona, Fiona Thyme! What about you?" her ovile colored eyes turned back with a smile on her lips. Hakan returned the smile and answered her question.
"It's Hakeem. Nice to meet you," Hakan walked until they came to a stop.
"So, where are you from? This is the first time seeing you around here."
"Oh, from Mistral, Decided to come here for a friend in Atlas."
"Oh? Do you travel?"
"I guess you can say that," Hakan walked into the room as Fiona stood in the doorway. "Thank you for showing me the way."
"Anytime," Fiona waved and walked away from the door, leaving the assassin to lay on the bed that was there for him. Inside the room, he thought about his companions and what they were doing with the lamp of knowledge. Though he doesn't know, he wished them to have a safe journey to whatever their plan was. Closing his eyes, the young assassin started to think of the other contents he had traveled to and left. In those two years, he's made valuable friends and allies, helping them, and in turn, they vowed to stick by his side, despite him wanting to do most of it alone. Leaving certain ones he deemed fit for the job of leading, wherever they were doing, was left towards specific orders by him not to kill any innocents or else.
Besides his allies, he had also made peace with the Templars or attempted to. They were stubborn, blind to the thousands of years of hatred towards one another. Though he cared not for that as he wanted a safe place for his children to roam the streets and not suffer what he went through. Being part faunas as his real dad was human, he saw the potential for everyone getting alone, but for them to actually perform it was unknown. So far, the differences between humans and faunus are too great, or in other words, both sides are rather not agreeable with working together.
But like the brotherhood before them, Hakan planned on making it the fact that they will work together no matter the cost. Pyrrha helped him in finding the right souls for such an achievement. Convincing them, especially Blake, form team RWBY would be an easy job. That, however, can wait, as he has more important things to worry about, like building the brotherhood in Mantle or Atlas. That was also one of the main reasons he had established it in the other kingdoms besides Vale. After doing what he needed to do in Atlas, he'll go to Vale.
The night passed by with breezing colors, with the sun rising hours later, greeting the sweating assassin as he stopped his early morning workout as usual. Stepping out the room without a shirt, he closed his eyes and opened them using his normal assassin eagle vision to find the bathroom with ease, knocking on the door to make sure. Once he didn't receive anything back, the young man opened the door and began bathing himself from eh sweat he had let off. Once cleaned, he wrapped the towel. Robyn had swung by to give him around the waist and walked back towards the room. Putting on clothes more suited for the weather in Atlas, he snapped on the straps to his gun on his back. Hakan was ready now to leave the shack finally after receiving their hospitality. Reaching the door, he felt a tap on his shoulder and was greeted with a smiling face.
"You're leaving already?"
"I was going to be back. After all, I need to say thank you."
"You can say thank you by coming and enjoying our food," another voice spoke up. It wasn't Robyn Hill or Fionas, so it had to be another member of the 'Happy huntresses.' Turning, he saw a blue-haired woman in an apron walk up towards him with a raised eyebrow. "Where were you going anyway?"
Hakan responded with him taking off his gun and placing it on the door, walking past both women as he made his way to the kitchen. Upon walking in, he saw the children, Robyn Hill, and another face he doesn't know the name of, sitting there enjoying whatever it was on their plates.
"Ah! Our guest is up. Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, thank you," Hakan smiled and pulled out a seat that wasn't occupied by a plate on the table.
"Sorry to introduce you late, but this is Joanna," Robyn Hill gestured to the tall, dark-skinned woman to her left. Bowing his head with a smile, they returned the same gesture and then went to eating, no one saying a word for most of the meal. Until Robyn Hill once again spoke up. "So, who was that guy you were fighting last night? It seemed you two are well acquainted."
"That's an understatement. I guess you can call us old friends- turned enemies?"
"I see... What do you do for a living, Hakeem? If you don't mind me asking, you're very skilled to be some regular off the street.
"Ah, I was a huntsman in training at Mistral, going to Beacon for the festival with my team. Sadly, I didn't get to finish because of certain circumstances."
"You said your name is Hakeem, right?" Joanna spoke up as she stopped eating and folded her arms while she tried to think.
"Yeah."
"That name... You were kidnapped on the outskirts of Vale! They found your bird circling that one area for days without rest until a girl called it down. Pyrrha, the prodigy, I think it was! It was big new, especially for Beacon since they couldn't find you anywhere!" Fiona had a chipper mood to her as she leaned in from her seat.
"Ahh, that'll explain that scar, I'm guessing?" Robyn Hill asked as she pointed to the top of her own head, right where his scar would be. Shaking his head, he finished the meal and got up from his seat.
"No, that was from a more... Different time," Hakan harden his gaze while he remembered that fire and the smell of the woods burning with it. Catching on to the seriousness of the topic, Robyn Hill got up and smiled.
"I see, sorry to remind you!"
"It's fine."
"Well, if you're leaving, then why not take Fiona with you? She doesn't have a lot to do around here, actually," Robyn Hill winked towards the younger women, who had a curious glance on her face. Hakan decided to humor both of them and started to walk out the door.
"Guess this is a date?" Hakan asked while grabbing his gun and placing it on his back. Opening the door with the other hand, he looked back, waiting on her. Seeing the two whisper to each other, he keyed in on their conversation with ease.
"Why would I-"
"Keep an eye on him. I fear he's dangerous."
"But-"
"If he's just a student, then there should be no problems with your skills. If you think it's too dangerous, then I'll send someone else."
"It's fine. I'll do it."
Relaxing, Hakan slung the gun over his shoulder and waited until she walked behind him. Looking back, Hakan smiled and walked out of the door, followed by the young Faunus. The two walked two blocks away from the shack until Hakan finally slowed down, much to her surprise. "Seems we have a problem?" Hakan asked with a confident smile. The two walked slowly across the street.
"I'm fine, thank you," she let out a sigh of irritation.
"Really now? How come you don't seem it?"
"What do you mean?"
"I can smell your emotions, miss Fiona," Hakan turned towards her, though she wasn't interested in the joke nonetheless, so he decided to stop in place, followed by the white-haired girl.
"What-"
"You can stop following me."
"What are you talking-"
"I know your leader ordered you to do this. I have no interest if your not at least gonna try to have fun," Hakan held out his hand. The older woman looked at it and squinted her eyes. before finally rolling them and taking his hand, she instantly was pulled in by the younger male. "See, that wasn't so bad, now let's try and enjoy ourselves together," Hakan pun her to face the front and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. The same aged sheep faunus couldn't help but blush as Hakan took her on their little date.
"So, you know this place better than me. Where are the best places to be?" Hakan asked as she let his hand fall to his side while they walked together.
"Hmm, how about there? It's a great coffee place," Fiona pointed to a place called "pie-man" "It also has the best pies around!"
"I doubt that my sister can make better pies than that,"
"Hey, don't knock it till you try it."
"Fair, but it's still kinda early to eat anywhere to relax?"
"Oh, for sure!" Fiona led the way, grabbing hold of his wrist pulling him along the sidewalk, a smile on her face. The older women now fully warmed up to him, the two started to enjoy themselves in the gleamy city. Before they knew it, the day went by quicker than any of them anticipated while they walked through a broken-down park. While they walked, some lone males had cat-called Fiona or made disgusting glances their way simply because she was what she was. So while they walked through the park, Hakan held her close, surprised that she hadn't objected or made any moves away from him.
"Hey, I have a question," Fiona asked as they continued to walk side by side along the sidewalk of the park. Hakan looked down towards her and raised a brow. "Are... You really a huntsman?" the question made him chuckle.
"No, not really. Instead, I am one of the allies of the huntsman. But it's easier to say I'm one not to raise suspicion. Hence why were you here in the first place, because your leader doesn't trust me, right?"
"Your wrong! It's not that she doesn't trust you. It's just..."
"Right right, well if all things are considered, if I wanted to do bad, I would, instead that isn't my intentions here."
"What is your intention?"
"To reform and meet a lover of mines."
"O-oh, you have someone?" Fiona took a step away slightly, only for Hakan to pull her in again.
"Yeah, I do. She feels the empty feeling in my heart, though I'm not sure if she feels the same, y'know?" They continued to walk close together while the exit to the park became clearer. Behind them were a group of men who had been eyeing the duo for a while, which didn't go unnoticed by the pair.
"I guess?" Fiona asked while she shrugged, a perplexed look on her face.
"Sorry to bring up something like that while we're out. You should focus my attention!" Hakan pointed a finger in the sky while he exclaimed that. Fiona blushed but was quickly surprised as she was pushed forward by the assassin making her stumble. A screech from above terrorized the evening sky as Azure straighten her body and bomb dive straight into a man's face, tackling him to the ground. A group of four against one well-trained assassin, in the world of aura, he'd stand a far better chance, but in the world where it barely could save him, every move was a threat.
Hakan rushed forward, drop-kicking one, sending him flying towards his backflipping until he landed on his stomach. Flipping up, Hakan ducked under a punch for his face, and grabbed the collared shirt, and headbutted the man. Pushing him off, Hakan parried another punch for him and countered with a grapple and then a sidekick to the stomach. Two out of the way as Azure finally flew up from the man she had tackled and got back into the sky. The man tried to get up, only for Hakan to slam his head on the pavement knocking him out cold as well. The last man stood there with nervous sweat as the assassin slowly walked up towards him. He had guts but wasn't an idiot, as she ran the other way. Hakan turned and looked at Fiona, who looked impressed with his fighting skills, though there was no need.
"Wow, looks like I have a bodyguard," Fiona joked as she tapped her feet on the sidewalk.
"All in a day's work, madam," Hakan bowed as he took her in his arms again, walking back to the shack. They made their way with a little talk here and there, both taking a stroll through the town.
"I enjoyed this, actually."
"Oh, even though you were against it at first?"
"Yeah, I will admit, you were fun and relatable! So for that, I thank you, can't wait to tell Robyn Hill about this!" Fiona jumped up and down like a little child. That action made Hakan chuckle as she realized what she was doing and stopped it. A small blush on her face as they made it to the street of the shack. "Sorry, I-"
"It's cool, well, here's your stop. I enjoyed your company, so maybe another time we could do this?"
"Definitely," Fiona said as the two hugged each other and separated. No matter how right the moment was, the door was force open by Joanna, stopping whatever progress the two were making in leaning forward. Fiona had a large blush on her face as she pulled away and quickly walked into the house. Hakan bowed and started to head his way, only for Joanna to grab his shoulder, staring deep into his eyes.
"Thank you," she said as Hakan turned and raised a brow. Joanna walked forward and motioned for him to follow her. Doing as requested, Hakan and Joanna headed up on a rooftop, a little less than two blocks away.
"What's all this?" Hakan asked as he placed a hand on his hip, looking up towards the now dark sky.
"My appreciation. You see Fiona, is stuck under Robyn Hill and hardly has enough time to enjoy herself. She's young and fragile, so I thank you for letting her take her mind off all the stuff going on right now," Joanna said as she turned and smiled at the young assassin, who lifted his arms and crossed them.
"Speaking of stuff going on, what the hell is happening as of late? I don't remember the general being like this."
"Well, we're trying to gather as much information as we can, so far, all we know is that something big is going to happen, like huge!"
"I see. You know anything about the grim envisions?"
"Yeah, we know about the wall. That's why we've been trying to get supplies to fix a wall in the area."
"Fix? As in the grim broke through?"
"Yeah, somehow they did, so now and then, we'll have to take care of some grim around the area, though it's difficult when there are only four people. It's not like we can control everyone's emotions."
"I see. Do you know where the hole is?"
"Yes, why?"
"I want to go investigate."
The tall woman thought for a second before she nodded, walking towards the door, closely followed by Hakan.
Wall
Hakan sliced open the throat of a Grim, making it gargles its blood before following over with black ooze gushing out until it disintegrated. He and Jonna had cleaned up what little grim that was near the wall, looking up towards the wall.
"We're here, now what?!" Joanna asked, looking around the area.
"We search!" Hakan placed a hand on the chipped wall, examining it. Joanna raised a brow but started to look over the wall as well, keeping an eye out for any unwanted guests. While she looked around the hole, she noticed something strange. The debris was on the inside of the wall, but someone blew the hole on the inside. What gave it away was the chips on the side of the wall. After most of her years working on the border, she'd notice if the mindless beasts destroyed the wall, and this wasn't one of those times.
"Who could've?" Her voice trailed off as she looked over to the assassin, holding out his sniper rifle, aiming down the scope inwards to the city, being completely wide open towards his back. Joanna squinted her eyes, noticing him unscrewing the suppressor. It was weird, and then she noticed he was on the side of the wall and pointed the gun towards himself. "What are you?!-" A gunshot ringing through the night sky, upon the fire, was a loud shout from him, holding the spot he just shot.
"Ahhrag!" Hakan yelled, grasping his side, groaning out in pain, sliding down the wall. Joanna started to run, but Hakan waved her back as he was slowly standing from his spot, relaxing his body, whatever little aura he had, used to heal the spot. There wasn't any need as the bullet wasn't even a real bullet, instead bb, though the effect from his sniper's shot was still the same. Unloading the carriage, he stood there for a second and then loaded in the real bullets before dodge rolling away from the wall. Right as he did, a grim burst through the wall, roaring out its arrival, followed by many others.
"What's your plan now?! You've made another almost the same size!" Joanna rushed over but then was quickly pushed back by a blast from Hakan, as five sets of explosions caused a chain reaction. One after another, an explosion went off, making massive explosions scattering into pellets that sunk into the Grims skin. Hakan was sent flying into the air, freefalling towards the ground. Hitting the asphalt, he landed on his back and stayed there for a moment. Jonna looked as the Grimm, whether in pain roaring out pleas for help until they suddenly started to freeze in their tracks and then exploded into thin crystal ice-cycles. Despite the explosion, the wall remained intact. In fact, the hole that Hakan caused was fixed by him with both earth and ice dust, forming a solid wall for the time being.
The after effect left the tall, dark-skinned women speechless, as snow and dirt fell into a mixed combination onto the ground. She was awe-struck but then quickly remembered that Hakan was on the ground groaning as he slowly sat up. Rushing over towards him, she roughly grabbed him as he struggled to open his eyes.
"I-It worked!" Hakan smiled victoriously. Joanna raised a brow but helped him to his feet nonetheless. After a second of helping him walk towards the inner city, his limp was gone, and he managed fine on his own, walking as if nothing had happened.
"What... Was that?" Joanna found herself asking as they walked the streets.
"Something I designed for the sniper. It came in handy this time. I wasn't sure if it'd work or if I made the bullets right..."
"You... Made those?"
"Yeah, I learned a thing or two from my gunsmith friend."
"That was clever. Your not bad, not bad at all, rookie," Jonna smiled as they stopped mid-way to the shack.
"Heh, despite my age, I've seen enough to call me a veteran."
"I can see that, so what are you to do now?"
"I'm going to head to Atlas, see what information I can get out of James."
"Your heading to the man himself?"
"Yeah, but before I go, I'll have to see the kids off. I'd make it a point to come to visit them while I'm still around."
"Well, I'm not Robyn Hill, but I'm sure she'd let you back in anytime."
"Thank you."
Hakan turned away from the taller women and made his way away from the street they were on. Joanna tilted her head to the side, a curious expression she wore on her face before she finally went inside.
1 Hour later
The place he had been researching is called the giver. Using the public library to find out the official title it had given itself. Pressing enter, multiple pop-ups are displayed on the screen. One of which was a blog site. Clicking on many tabs and reading each one, he saw one thing in common. "It's a workplace that takes kids in who doesn't have the best life and tries to help them find a better home!" Its reviews were mostly bots, but they disguised them so well a normal person would believe what they were selling. Mistral is a fucking mess, Hakan thought as he surfed the web more, seeing comments of the reviewers being happy with the child that 'fits' their life.
"These accounts are all saying the same thing, with the same mannerism, no individualism at all."
Hakan stopped upon seeing the last review of the website and stood from his seat. Now it was time to hit the streets, see what others think about it. Walking out of the library, he made his way around the giver's spot and started asking those around the street about the place. However, each one gave a frightened look upon seeing him and scurred away after hearing his question.
Letting out a sigh, he had made his way around every nook and cranny of the bad side of Mantle, where most of the faunus live. Sitting on the sidewalk, Hakan let out a sigh as he looked down on the ground at a puddle. It has been almost hours since he had started this research, and the faunus are so whipped that they don't have the courage to stand up for themselves. A few stand out that gave him a time and place to meet, but other than that, there was none. Getting up, he felt a tap on his shoulder. The stench on them told him they weren't faunus but humans instead. In this part of town?
Turning around, a gun was pointed in his face, making the assassin follow them to a dark alleyway. Once they reached the area, the stench made it clear why the faunus were the way they were. Letting out a sigh as one attempted to push him to the ground but instead was the one who moved.
"Oh, we got a tough guy!" The man with the gun forced the assassin to turn around, a smile on his face while he pointed the gun. Taking some sort of pleasure out of the whole thing. It sickened him, but Hakan wanted to break this dude, as the smell of dried blood connected to him, knowing the feeling of killing, the oh too familiar feeling.
"Please no, don't hurt me!" Hakan pleaded, selling his quiver in his voice.
"Oh, you finally showed fear! That's what I like too-"
Hakan completely wiped off the gleaming grin on his face as he suddenly flew across the air and back onto the sidewalks. Rolling to his back, the man looked up and saw his friend's neck get sliced open with a hidden blade before finishing off the other with a curb stomp breaking the jaw. Now he was the one with fear in his eyes. Turning around as he tried to get up, he opened his mouth to say anything, only to feel a piercing pain in the back of his throat. Grasping at whatever was causing it, he struggled until he felt himself be yanked back to the same spot he killed plenty of people. The smile he sported as he got addicted to the kill was gone. Now it was his turn for the fear. The blade unplugged itself as he was in the hands of the assassin, who turned him around, a smile on his face. The eyes were unseeable as he had a hood on. It was a terrifying sight as the man gripped his head.
"You chose poorly," Hakan twisted with all his might, causing the head to spin to the back snapping his spine. Falling to the ground, Hakan bowed and paid his respects before stepping over the body, and he searched them for clues, getting their scrolls and opening them with their fingerprint. Upon doing so, he read the message that they were to kill the one with a gun on his back. Written by the dog, a name he assumed was associated with the giver. It makes sense once he thinks about it. Taking their scrolls, Hakan climbed up the building to get away from the scene and clean himself up, reading through the messages, gathering more information. After he finished cleaning, Hakan walked among the people without his hood once again.
