After her conversation with Kol was over, Bonnie made her way to the door. She was surprised to find Caroline was waiting for her in front of their cars.

'Hey, I saw your car through the window.'

'Hi, I didn't know you were coming.'

Caroline's face seemed to take a red glamour.

'Yeah, I came to talk about yesterday's disaster. I didn't know you were coming either. I thought you could use some quiet time.'

Quiet time, Bonnie let out a snort. It would be nice if it was possible.

'I talked to Kol. And he gave me one of my ancestor's grimoire. He said he could help me with my situation, that he has contacts.'

'If there is a small chance for you to get rid of that evil magic thingie, use it, Bonnie. You don't need to take such a huge risk.'

Bonnie realized Caroline's eyes seemed darker while she had said it. Whatever discussion she and Klaus had certainly didn't end well.

'What did you and Klaus talked about?'

'I asked him to spare Elena and Jeremy. But I am not sure whether he will let this go.'

'Family come first love. It seems our mutual interest in the cure made dear Elena unnecessarily bold. This is their second failed attempt on Kol, the attempt on Fin was successful and we know the backstabbing ordeal Rebekah is still bitter about. They forgot who I am.'

Caroline raised her arms and cried out desperately.

'They know who you are. Look, I am not going to tell you to be better than them. I know you are not. I know you killed Jenna and Tyler's mom, would have killed me and Tyler if you had the chance for ritual, and chased Katherine for centuries. Don't you realize you are the cause of all of this? Your brother didn't die. You have your family. Can't you live happily with them without an act of revenge or evil agenda?'

'I will not have my hand forced by you! What would be your part in it if your friends decided to eliminate my family again? Are you going to use your charms to distract me?'

Caroline didn't expect that. He wasn't entirely wrong. That was exactly what they asked her to do last time. But she didn't know much about Klaus then and her loyalty to Tyler and her friends came first.

'It was a long time ago! Listen, you thanked me for my honesty last time and I am going to be honest with you again. I want this cycle of hate to end. But if any of my friends got hurt, I would be more than a blonde distraction.'

With that Caroline left and Klaus threw the glass in his hand to the fireplace.

Bonnie's voice brought Caroline to the real world.

'It went horrible right?'

'You have no idea, Bonnie.'

.

Rebekah watched two girls leave through the window, didn't they know that this was a vampire mansion and vampires have super-hearing? Speaking of super-hearing, she heard footsteps coming, these weren't bulky steps like Nik's so it must have been Kol's.

A hand touched her shoulder.

'Hey, Reb.'

'You know it is funny, how Elena and her friends are started to invade our lives.'

Rebekah still wasn't looking at Kol. Kol looked down to the floor a little ashamed.

'I owe you an apology.'

'For trying to kill me?'

'I wasn't going to do it. I could never do it, you know it. I know you wouldn't do that either.'

'Guess not,' Rebekah turned her face to him 'Do you know while you were in the coffin, that sneaky doppelganger tried to convince me to kill Nik? I helped their plan, then that little wench stabbed me in the back. Guess, she knew I wouldn't be able to go along with her plan.'

'And here I thought the latest doppelganger isn't as sly as Katherine.'

'Are you going to take revenge on her for trying to kill you?'

'Unfortunately, not yet.'

'Oh, right. You have found a Bennett witch to entertain yourself with. It wasn't enough that Caroline has Nik wrapped around her fingers and made him stop looking for the cure, and know you are persuading Bonnie to give up on the mission for the cure because of horror stories my mother told you.'

Kol's face got darkened, not because of anger but of disappointment and sadness.

'Aren't you a little bit glad that I am alive?'

'I am, truly. But, I have been dreaming of becoming a human for centuries and I won't give that dream up for anyone.'

'I won't let you raise Silas for your childish dreams.' Kol hissed the last two words.

Rebekah smiled challengingly. 'I am sure if I tell Bonnie some stories about your past with witches, she won't be so eager to trust you. She is already judgmental enough. Or maybe I should start with what you did to Marcel. God, that Hamlet performance was something else!'

She started to walk away but stopped by Kol's arm.

'You won't do such a thing, Rebekah.' He hissed dangerously.

'Oh, I almost forgot, I have literature class today.'

'Are you telling me Bonnie Bennett-the witch who hated us at first because we are vampires and still gives me aneurysms every 30 minutes, saved an original?'

Damon's reaction was not different than Elena expected.

'I am as surprised as you are, I had no idea what looking for the cure was doing to Bonnie. I never thought she would give up on it. Especially considering the state Abby is in.'

Stefan held a snort. Silently, he was glad. When Elena suggested killing Kol and put Rebekah inbox, he thought this was too hypocritical a move. He didn't think he could do that to Rebekah. Even though he wasn't in love with her, he held her in the best regard he could for old times' sake. He didn't like what Elena was slowly becoming. At all. And he was starting to think that this wasn't all because of the sire bond.

'Considering the state Abby is in, it was a miracle Bonnie was still with us until this day.'

Damon glared at him.

'Are you trying to shift the blame on me, brother? We flipped a coin and you got lucky, remember?'

'I am not shifting the blame on you, I am just stating the facts.'

Elena looked at both of them. 'What do you mean you flipped a coin?'

'We flipped a coin to determine who will turn Bonnie's mum,' Stefan said coolly.

'You determined Abby's life with a coin?' Elena asked angrily.

'It has been quite some time Elena' Damon butted in. 'You are curious about the details now?'

Elena took a few seconds to digest all the new information. No wonder Bonnie left her.

'So what do we do now?'

'About what?' Stefan asked, cool as cucumber again.

'The cure, brother. The thing we were obsessing about for weeks.' Damon took a sip from his wine.

'Well, this plan was not forthcoming, to begin with. Even if we had managed to kill Kol and put Rebekah in a box and trapped Klaus, did you really think Elijah would be glad that we killed his brother?'

'Let me guess, you have been smitten with Rebekah ever since she pledged allegiance to you when you both were naked in a sack.' Damon rolled his eyes and waited for Elena's reaction.

Stupefied by sudden revelation Elena looked at Stefan questioningly.

'Is that why you hesitated to dagger her? Stefan, how could you think you can trust her? She killed me!'

'Well, this would be the second time Damon tried to kill Jeremy. We are lucky Kol and Klaus were eager to lift the compulsion on him.'

'She actually managed to kill me, Stefan! Are you trying to punish me?'

Stefan held back a reflex to snort and put the wine glass to the table.

'You can do whatever you want Elena, I don't care.' Realizing that bantering is useless and above all meaningless- he had no obligation to explain himself to Elena, he got up from the couch.

While leaving he looked at Damon. Before not letting him say anything, Stefan said, 'Calm her down, Damon. You have managed to use the sire bond pretty well so far, haven't you?'

Surprisingly, Damon smiled. His smile had been a warning to Stefan when Damon's punch almost found his face so he dodged quickly.

'You have no right to do that and you know it.'

With that, Stefan left the mansion.
