Chapter 2 Charlie pov
Carlisle called me to inform me to meet him in their house. Apparently Esme would also be joining us.
I had no bigger desire then to hurt that boy. My poor daughter had been in so much pain. I still had to talk with her but first I needed to see if the boy felt something and depending in what he felt would be my consent on him approaching Bella.
"Dad where are you going?"
I looked up to see her in the stairs. All pale her big eyes now deep in her face and her little petit figure even more fragile. "Billy asked me to go visit"
She nodded "say hi to Jake"
"I'll be back in two hours, try to sleep"
She grimaced, Shit me and my big mouth "drive save Charlie" – Yep I've been dismissed.
I got in the cruiser and slammed my head in the steering wheel. All this is fucked up. Days ago I arrested Sam Uley after some people complained that he's been harassing their children, I had a big fight with Harry and Billy, apparently I was getting myself into some shit I wasn't supposed to. The fight got even bigger when they asked me about Bella and I told them about the Cullens, Billy said I was going to kill the entire town.
Days after the fight and Sam Uley being back at home he showed up and transform into a fucking wolf. It took me an hour and Harry to stop me from freaking out. I still remember our conversation.
"We are telling you our secret so that you don't bring them back"— Who back? What the hell… the cullens.
"What are they?"
"We can't tell you, it's better you don't know"— Harry said.
"Bella needs closure"
"Bella is never going to get closure Charlie she belongs to him that's why she's in pain but trust me she's better off without him if you bring them back you will lose your daughter"— Sam Said, Who the fuck did this boy thought he was to come to my house and tal about my daughter like that.
I told him to get out of my property that I would decide what to do. I was thinking of calling of the whole thing but that night Bella told me she was going to leave. That someone had come for her. I told her that I would protect her and she laughed.
"Only Edward can keep me safe and he left. Let me go Charlie if I go you will live"
The way she said made me have chills. She said with no emotion like she was ready to deal with whatever is it that was tormenting her. Did i want know? she thinks our conversation was a nightmare. She kept repeating redhead all over again.
Bella is losing it and Carlisle called came at the right time. My desperation was more know that she had threatened to disappear on me.
I got to the Cullen's house and walked up the door. "Charlie"—Carlisle said, I didn't even knock the door.
"Not interested Carlisle were is that little shit"
"Charlie he's my son I can't allow you to talk about him like that"—he said taking me upstairs.
"You protect your son, I protect my daughter"—we walked into the living room and there he was I didn't even notice Esme and without thinking I grabbed my gun and shot him. In the arm of course in case he could die.
For a moment everything was silence and only the eco of the bullet hitting marble moved through the room.
"CHARLIE!" Esme yelled.
Edward and I just stood there looking at each other. FUCKING LITTLE SHIT. My daughter is dying she's barely surviving. Memories of the day they left and the nightmares, Tom's night emergency calls and MS cope saying children are noticing her weight loss were moving through my mind.
"Oh god Bella"- Edward sobbed and drop to his knees Esme ran to hold him "Shh Edward"
"She will never forgive me mom, I… I... Thought she could had a better Life.. I"
Charlie what the hell is your problem. You shot my son you could've killed him"
Carlisle was angry, OK maybe shooting him wasn't my best idea but Billy did say they didn't die. Edward head snapped up at me. He moved his lips and both Carlisle and Esme stared at me. It was a little unnerving
"What did you said"—I asked him
Edward narrowed his eyes and slightly smiled "observant like Bella" – Billy was right they are creepy up close
"The wolf's broke the treaty" –he said to his father.
Treaty, what treaty?
Carlisle sighed, Edward shook his head.
"Am I missing a conversation?" I asked. I was getting angry again. My hand was at my gun… again.
"Sorry Charlie, but like you saw your gun isn't going to do anything"
Carlisle cleared his throat. – "Please Charlie sit apparently we have a lot to discuss but know everything would be a lot easier to explain"
"Charlie before we start I want to say something may I? "—Esme asked me.
Esme always seemed nice to me. Dropping muffins at the station every once and while. My mom use to say a kind smile is a kind heart. Plus she knew how to bake.
Edward smiled. Why the fuck is that little shit smiling.
"Of course Esme"
"I want you to know that Bella is a beloved family member, I'm sorry of the pain we caused her and I don't know how much you know or how we could tell you but we really left to protect her. Now I understand it was a mistake. We will apologize to her like a family and if you decide to allow Edward get near you daughter then he has his own graveling to do. But you should know we love her"
I nodded at her "Why did you left?"
"I think it's better if you tell us what you know"
I wasn't going to tell them about the wolf's. I promised Billy.
"Charlie we know about the wolf's we have met though it was a long time ago"
"What are you? - - shit I asked the one question I promised myself I wouldn't ask.
"We can't tell you" – Carlisle said
I got up in anger. How dare they… my daughter has been suffering because of them.
"Charlie your life could be in danger"
"What about my daughter's life?"
"She guessed it we didn't tell her. Plus it was the wolf's as well who told her. A Jacob black" – Edward said.
Fuck Jake what the hell.
"He doesn't believe in the legends so he didn't know, but now they told you about their secret compromising ours. We need to know if their protecting you?"
Shit, shit, shit. Do I want to know? Do I have to know? What about Bella. Did she know how she reacted, what the hell did they do to her?
"Charlie listen to me. We don't turn into animals. But we do have some animalistic traits. We're old very old and we have a treaty with the wolfs, we don't hunt in their lands they don't tell humans about us. My family we are harmless to humans but sometimes it can get difficult. We try our best."
Old, hunt, humans. The legend Billy use to talk about… Vampires. HOLY SHIT.
"He figured it out" – Edward said
Carlisle nodded at him – "Good we didn't tell him. Once again the wolf's and their legends did it for us"
I didn't know what to say. I've heard rumors about unnatural creatures from my friends in the higher powers but I would tell them BS. Edward tilted his head to the side.
"My daughter knew?"—I said looking at Edward
He nodded – "Why did you leave?"
"Another vampire tried to attack her and I realize her life was in danger so I left. I broke her heart and breaking mine in the process, I swear i though and hoped she would move on and have the life I can't give her."
"Why didn't she?" – I said remembering Billy's words.
"Vamp…"
"It's better if you don't say the word"- I told him
"Our kind, we mate for life. We didn't thought Bella could feel the connection because she's human but when you called i realize that she's suffering the side effects of losing her other half"
So what Billy said was right, Bella belong to him and I had brought them back to take my daughter away.
Edward shook his head—"Charlie I would never take Bella not in a selfish way she's your daughter, and we don't even know if Bella will take me back"
"She will, she dreams about you" - - and I remember Bella's dream.
"Bella said someone was back for her, did this umm well you know. Do you think it's hunting her?"
The three of them stared at each other—"Not possible"
I was about to argue
"Charlie I think Bella should have the right to tell the stories herself, but first I have to apologize to you. I know your here to see if I'm worthy of talking to her."
Yeah that was before all this shit about vampires, should I take Bella and run. Should I…
Edward growled. Like an animal. Making me jump my gun pointing at him.
"Edward"- Emse hissed
"Look Charlie. I'm sorry for what I did to Bella but now that I know she's my mate I'm not leaving or letting her go. If you decide to take her I would follow forever. As long as she lives"

"I don't deal well with what we are. I've always believed I'm a monster a man without a soul. I've lived my….years alone surrounded by couples and then one day without expecting it Bella came into my life. You see Charlie our first encounter wasn't nice. I wasn't prepare for her scent I tried to leave I did but I wasn't going to let a human take me away from my family so I came back. Then everything changed the connection Bella and I shared pull us to each other. The day of the Tyler incident was when she starting getting suspicious and the wolf's told her about what we were the day she went la push. Her life was put in danger because of what I am and even though I loathon what I'm , Bella never did
She loved me for everything I am and I didn't deserve it. Bella is pure and innocent. I knew that eventually she was going to ask me about changing her and I couldn't/ can't condemn Bella to this life. But then that other… vampire attacked her and I knew I had to leave.
I broke her heart Charlie and I'm not proud of the things i said, I will forever regret it but she wasn't going to let me go. So I had to pretend I didn't want her I thought her human mind was going to help and she would get over me. I would become a memory and she would move on to a life i can't give her.
But the last two months have been horrible and even though I left I was already preparing to come back. I probably don't deserve her forgiveness but I can't be without her and even if she doesn't take me back I will stay close. So with or without your permission I'm going to talk to Bella… tomorrow"
Damn kid. Years exactly how many years? That damn wolf's not minding their business. I have to talk about this with Billy.
My Bella wants to be change? What did this meant, would Bella leave. Should I let him see her? Will it's not like I have an option. Fuck!
"Look Edward you broke her. She's been having nightmares she's not eating and you left her in the fucking forest"
"No, I left her in front of your house. Why she went into the woods I don't know"
Damn OK she wasn't lying about that.
"Anyway I don't know if she wants to talk to you. I haven't told her about this"— I said gesturing towards everybody
"Let me talk to her first. Let's see how she reacts and I will call you or maybe she decides to call you. I don't know, I have to go" – I said getting up. Edward wanted to argue but Esme started to whisper and he calmed down.
Carlisle walked me to the Door.
"Charlie we are truly sorry about this. Perhaps with the months you will understand why we thought it was for the best"
"Carlisle you protected your son i get that and Perhaps I will. But I don't know how much I want to know"
"I understand"
I left the Cullen's house with all types of emotions. But the strongest was regret. I hope to god this is the right choice and I don't lose my daughter.
It was dinner when I arrived home and she was cooking. It was the only time of the day she acted normal. Rene had asked me if she needed to come but I shut her down immediately. She would take Bella and that would t be good for her.
"Hey honey, What's for dinner?"
"Fried fish
"Are you eating?"
"Not hungry"
"Bella sit i have something to tell you"
"I'm not going with mom, I know I have caused problems but I'm trying Charlie"

"I know and I understand it hurts. I was like you when your mom left it didn't last this long but every now and then I would feel pain but not for her but for you honey. You leaving hurt and that's why I understand what you're going through, So I have been doing something for the last weeks but I wanted to…um make sure it would work. I contacted Carlisle Cullen and he's back"
Her face went blank and even with my police reflexes I was too late to grab her and she hit the floor with a thud.
Shit!
I grabbed my phone "Carlisle yeah she fainted and hit her head can you come check her out. I was going to call Tom but we don't need to bring more people into this"
"I will be right there, Edward is on his way"
Carlisle hadn't even finished and I was just entering Bella's bedroom when i heard the back door and Edward appeared out of air.
His eyes stared at Bella and I knew what he was looking at. The effects of his words.
"You're a little shit Edward and you will never be in my good gracious but Bella loves you why I don't know perhaps never will but you need to earn her love, trust and respect"
"I know"
"Good because i will ask Billy how to kill a vampire and I will turn into blade if I have to"
Carlisle arrival ended our talk but the boy looked sorry and as in much pain as my daughter. They both had a long way to go.

How do you think Bella will react? Will Charlie ever find out it was Jasper who attacked her? Should we till Charlie the whole phoenix situation?
I tried to make Charlie sound like a cop because in other fanfics they make him oblivious to situations and well he's supposed to have training to see between the lines.
