Two people left reviews, and I am so glad! I really appreciate it and I said I would make a second chapter if there were any reviews or follows, and here it is. This is from Eragon's perspective or it takes place during the "beginning" of Eragon. Please leave reviews! Not every chapter will be updated a couple of days after another, and I don't have a concrete schedule, but I will try to update it every week. Again, thank you so much, and further ado, Chapter two!

Durza got into a low crouch, trying to hide most of his body, while also being able to see the entirety of the dirt path in front of him. The Urguals around him gave off a rancid smell, and he was quickly wishing that his source had been correct.

The sky was crystal clear, allowing for one to see all the stars that rested in the night sky. Through the canopy of the forest and the brush occupying it. But tonight, wasn't the night for stargazing.

A slight breeze ruffles Durza's hood, revealing a pair of maroon eyes and a set of fanged teeth. The Urguals around him involuntarily shivered, as even without knowing what the Shade was capable of, his appearance alone sent shivers down your spine.

Durza readjusted his hood, covering his glowing eyes so that their unsuspecting victims wouldn't be able to point out his eyes in the shadows of the forest, revealing his location. For this mission was one of absolute importance, and failure was unacceptable, considering the punishment. Giving a shiver of his own, Durza stuck his head out a bit further than before, peeking down the long dirt path, then settled back down again.

A quiet shuffling broke him out of his thoughts, and an Urguals scout was seen jogging on the forest floor, making his way to the Shade. "Milord… they are close… not a couple… leagues away." Breathing raggedly, the Urgual was hunched over, speaking in parts, but Durza understood. Standing up without making a noise, he unsheathed his sword which shined silver against the moonlight, and had the Urguals get ready as well.

Hours soon passed, each and every Urgual holding a weapon in their hands, waiting for the Shade's signal.

But soon a horse's hooves trotting on patched dirt echoed in Durza's ears, and the Urguals crept low, avoiding eyesight of anyone traveling along the path. Durza ducked behind a rather large tree, holding his sword in his left hand, while he leaned on his right side against the tree.

The sound increased in volume, and soon their targets appeared. The first in the single-file line was a female elf, which dark auburn hair that reached its back but was held together in a tight braid. Wearing armor lined with gold, as well as a dark green cloak, and with a sword resting on its waist. The elf seemed to be subtly searching the forest for any threats to her company and was riding a brown horse, which had suddenly grown restless. The elf in the back was a male and had silver blond hair that seemed to embrace the oncoming moonlight, giving it a shiny look, and was dressed similarly to the elf in front. Gold lined armor that fit the elf's figure tightly, as well as a dark green cloak, and a sword as well as a bow on his belt and back respectively. But the elf in the middle stood out from the others. With shaggy dark brown hair that was kept in a bun, that left a few strands framing his face and a navy cloak on his back, he had two swords on his belt. One was a similar color to his cloak, and a hand-and-half in length, its scabbard a dull grey color, but the hilt held a beautiful sapphire gem that seemed to glow with magic, and the second one was that to the size of a claymore, and while it had the same scabbard as the first one, had an onyx gem attached to the hilt, that seemed all-consuming in its darkness. The elf also had several daggers and knives strapped to his body, but to the untrained eye, it didn't seem so. The elf also had a glowing emerald egg, which Durza knew was what they were looking for, and it was wrapped in blankets nestled in his lap, with the elf holding its sides so that it didn't fall.

Patience. Durza thought to himself. If they attacked too early, then the elves would simply double back, using their horses' speed to run away from the ambush, and the same would happen if they attacked too late. With the elves and the gem lost, and that was a failure. And failure was unacceptable in the eyes of his master. They had to wait for just the right moment. With the Urgual archers in the trees, perched and ready to strike, and plenty of spear and swordsmen hiding in the bush, they would have to wait for the perfect moment. Durza switched his sword to his right hand and switched sides so that he was leaning on his left and crouched low to the ground.

With the trotting increasing in volume, and the elves rapidly approaching, Durza signaled his archers to notch arrows, and with a yell, the ambush started. "Now!" Durza yelled and the rest of the Urguals jumped to their feet and the archers released a volley of arrows.

The female in front shouted a command to the male in the middle, and his black horse sprinted off from the other two elves, but as the other two brandished their weapons, the arrows from the archers pierced their armor, incapacitating them.

A cry of anguish broke through the night, but the male elf that had left didn't turn back. The shade, seeing his target start to escape, outstretched his arm, and yelled. "IstalarÍ boetk!" And a ring of scarlet fire blocked off the path and the surrounding forest, basking them in flame. Realizing his path was blocked off, he began to turn his horse to backtrack, but upon realizing the Urguals that began to surround him, he ripped off the blankets that surrounded the egg, and held it over his head, his lips moving quickly, and he began to mutter words from the ancient language. After he realized what was going on, Durza made to hurl his sword through the air, like a battle axe, and screamed a single word. "Jierda!"

But the Shade was too late, and with the egg gone from the elves' hand, the sword sank into his right shoulder and a sickening crack was heard as the elf was flung from his horse, due to the Shade and his magic. Breathing unevenly, the Shade approached the elves' body, and after ripping it out of the elf's shoulder, blood splattering everywhere, he picked up the elf and began to make his way back to the city in which he had come from. Releasing the spell of fire that had been steadily going, he threw the elf onto his horse and left the charred forest, the Urguals not far behind.
