Chapter 1

Deep within the bowels of the junkyard, the Eds were hotboxing the back of a rundown microbus with the Kanker sisters, who they were respectively dating, and Jonny, who happened to be their weed dealer. If you were to look up the word "hippie" in the dictionary, Double D thought, you should've seen a picture of Jonny. He'd let his Afro grow out, and typically dressed in tie-dye t-shirts, ripped jeans, and weathered sandals. Double D wondered if Jonny would've still turned out that way, had he not been raised by his Beatles-obsessed, vegan parents, who were stuck permanently in the sixties. "Here ya go, Plank." The Eds exchanged deadpan looks, as he held an empty pipe to his wooden board's badly-drawn mouth. "I heard Kevin's throwing a party, tonight."

"Really?!" Eddy perked up. "We should totally crash." There was no way in hell Kevin would invite them to his party. After finally making peace with the jock, he'd sacrificed their friendship to maintain his popularity.

"Idunno," Ed said apprehensively.

"Don't worry, Lumpy, we'll just blend in with the crowd."

Like that's possible, thought Double D, with a roll of his eyes.

"Plank and I don't have to crash," Jonny bragged. "Kevin invited us."

"Yeah, only 'cause you sell weed," Eddy muttered, in his gravely voice.

Jonny opened his mouth to reply, when the back doors of the van suddenly burst open; startling everyone inside. Ed's younger sister, Sarah, coughed when smoke rushed out at her. She squinted through it, at Lee and May, who were playing cards in the front seat, then glared at Marie, who happened to be lounging against Double D. With vibrantly red hair and pouty lips, Sarah was almost as popular as Kevin's cheerleader girlfriend, Nazz, but could never seem to compete with Marie for Double D's affections. Marie was undeniably the most attractive of the Kankers, but, in Sarah's biased opinion, still undeniably trailer trash. "Mom said you have to come home, and clean your room," Sarah informed Ed, "or you'll grounded."

"Aw, c'mon, baby sister," Ed whined. "Just tell her you couldn't find me."

"If you don't come home, I'll tell her where I found you, and what you've been up to," Sarah threatened. "Unless you take Jimmy and I shopping."

"Fine." Ed sighed in defeat, once she'd loudly slammed the door.

"Man, you're sister's annoying," Eddy said between hits. "Now, about this party..."
