Chapter 2: Is This A Team-Up

Nakita threw Abdiel out the door and followed him out, Nakita was very surprised to see three more unannounced arrivals waiting outside. Ignoring the three she proceeded after Abdiel as he stood back up. Suddenly Nakita was also launched forward as Israfil reached the doorway and unleashed a wave of angelic power. Nakita landed crouched like a predator ready to attack. Blaine had his scythe in hand soon after Nakita was launched forward only making Selene more uneasy. Abdiel and Nakita approached the porch just as they all were about to attack a puff of smoke and shiny particles stopped them all in their tracks. Shade stood back giggling holding her hand out having just fired off a magic blast.

"You all are so shiny and adorable looking." Shade said bursting out laughing. Blaine looked around and noticed everyone was covered in a heavy layer of glitter and was sporting a new animalistic feature, noting he was sporting some floppy rabbit ears. The rest of the group started to notice their animal features and layer of glitter, the fight that almost broke out forgotten. Nakita shook the glitter from hair before snapping, cleaning herself up.

"Okay, I have an idea. How about we share the child?" Nakita proposed.

Selene looked at Nakita confused, "Child? What child?" Selene asked, confused.

"I have to second her on that." Blaine added.

Nakita groaned, aggravated she just revealed the child's existence to three more people, "The reason the house exploded and the reason we're all here is a child of immense power was born."

"A child born of human, angel, and demon. A child that was only a legend. A Nephalem." Abdiel explained.

"Hate to burst your bubble feathers, but the child is more than that," Nakita said, tossing a book to the ground. It landed showing spell markings and sigils, "Your human was also a witch. Meaning not only is the child able to use demon powers and angel powers, she can also cast spells."

"How can a child this strong go this long unnoticed?" Selene asked.

"A few things could cause it. Sandalphon was an archangel. He had enough power to shield the conception from angel radio and since the mother was a witch her power could also be used to shield the child." Israfil explained.

"Then there's the demon to consider. The second they entered the mother the child would be completely hidden from us. Meaning the only time we could sense the power was when the child was born." Abdiel also explained. Selene nodded, while she had never met angels before, the new branches of Men of Letters taught extensively about angels and what they can do.

"Well if you guys are serious about sharing the child. I do know a place we can go." Selene said. Abdiel and Nakita looked at Selene like she had grown two heads.

"Absolutely no…" Abdiel started, but he was cut off by Israfil.

"We agree to this." Israfil said while handing the child to Selene, "We'll find you after we report to Heaven." Israfil grabbed Abdiel and disappeared.

Nakita scowled, "I have to report to Hell, but I'll be back as well." She also disappeared. Selene looked at the fairy and reaper, Shade and Blaine.

"What about you two?" Selene asked.

"I'll go as long as you have a place to wash this damn glitter off." Blaine said.

Soon Blaine and Shade were sitting in the Impala as Selene headed back to her hotel she was staying at so Selene and Blaine could wash the glitter off them and Selene could grab all her hunting gear. They pulled up to the hotel and Selene led Blaine and Shade to her room. Selene entered first flipping on a light revealing a surprisingly clean room.

"Pretty clen for a hunter." Blaine remarked.

"Thanks." Selene responded, opening a suitcase full of hunting gear and clothes.

Blaine never paid much attention to humans or hunters before but he had to admit he admired this one… maybe in more ways than one. Blaine watched her make her way to the bathroom before he caught the sight of Shade glaring at him.

"What?" Blaine asked innocently

"Really? In front of me Blaine?" Shade asked angrily.

"Uh yeah… last I checked we weren't together. Actually last I checked you broke up with me." Blaine retorted.

"That is not how it happened." Shade shouted back

"Oh right. Right. You fucked Nick, then, broke up with me. I forgot the events were in a slightly more hurtful order."

"I said I was sorry and I wanted to make things right. Isn't that why you let me come along?"

"You asked me if we could go back to how things were before. I said you could tag along to see the house and soul collection. Nowhere in there did I have to forgive you." Blaine headed outside to get some air not able to be in the same room as Shade. However Shade followed him.

"What can I do Blaine?" Shade asked. Blaine was tired of hearing that question, like Shade could just magically fix it. Blaine turned, his scythe now in his hand subconsciously going into what Blaine called Grim Reaper mode.

"Leave me alone. That's what you can do."

Blaine turned back into his normal looking self walking away from Shade. Shade quickly teleported away, back to the only other place Shade could think of. The Fairy City of Maisha, her home.

Shade appeared in the fae city very quickly thanks to teleporting, but Shade realized she landed in the middle of the city as well. Shade knew she needed to teleport quickly or be caught, preparing another teleportation she heard a stern voice.

"Shade Chillfrost Green, where do you think your going?" The stern voice demanded. Shade turned to see a five foot six woman with long wavy bottle blonde hair and blue eyes storming towards her. It was her sister Titania.

"What's wrong with you?" Titania screamed the question at Shade, "Skipping school and ditching your community service. Like seriously, I understand you might not care, but how you act also reflects on me." Titania said berating Shade.

"Wow real nice sis. You aren't worried for me, no, you're worried that how I act will make you look bad. For who, for the council? Silas, Shadow, Titus, and the other ten whose names I can't bring myself to memorize" Shade fired back. Titania stepped forward like she was about to go off again when her face went white and showed panic. Before Shade could turn she heard a hissing noise and saw the snakelike vine slither around her, zip around her leg, and back behind her as a cool calm voice spoke, causing Shade to shiver.

"Ah Miss Green. I thought that was you." The voice's owner said, entering Shade's view. He stood barely taller than the girls, with slicked back black hair, sharp eyes, and a bit of stubble on his face. This was one of the members of, what the fairies called, the Council of Thirteen, the thirteen leaders of two of the three fae cities in the fae world.

"I was afraid I didn't see you at school or at your community service today Miss Green. Please be sure to arrive. I'd hate to hand your a…. Stricter punishment." Silas said, before turning to Titania, "Miss Green, or should I say Council Assistant Green. I arrived to tell you as you just learned to declare you got the job with the council and I expect to see you at sunrise at the beginning of the next work week." Silas said while watching Shade's reaction to her sister fully joining with the council.

Shade could only glare at Titania joining the council despite everything Silas has ever done to her. Silas frowned at the lack of expression from Shade.

"I must be going now. Oh and Miss Green since you skipped school and community service I think it's only fair we add say… 28 hours to your community service to make up for it." Silas said, walking away.

After Silas was gone Shade turned on Titania, "What is wrong with you? Joining the council despite everything they've done to me under Silas. Why?" Shade asked Titania.

Titania pursed her lips, "I think it's time you stop blaming others for you misbehaving and getting in trouble. I have put my passion aside for too long to appease you. Now go wherever you were going and leave me be, I have work to do."

Shade watched her sister leave and was shaking in rage.

The wind blowed gently around Shade, feeling like a mother holding her child, "My child it will be okay, you will always be watched over."

Shade recognized it was Earth herself as the breeze died down

Shade smiled slightly and opened a portal and instead of running farther away she headed back to Selene's hotel room.

When Shade walked out the portal she looked around the room it was empty. Then the door behind her opened and Blaine walked around wearing a towel around his waist and drying his hair with another. Shade suddenly remembered one reason why she fell for Blaine.

Blaine looked up and saw Shade, but only said, "Finally decided to come back?"

Shade quickly started scowling, "Can you stop. I'm sorry okay. I fucked up and while I can't take back what I did, I want to try to fix it. I want to fix it." Shade said, almost pleading. Blaine turned towards Shade flashing his clean clothes on. Then saw Shade's face, the beginning of tears welling up, and the sorrow and regret in her eye a d on her face. He broke, he still cared for Shade.

"It'll take time to fix what happened, but I'm willing to give it a shot." Blaine said. Shade threw her arms around Blaine squeezing him in a hug.

Selene then opened the door, "You guys ready."

"We're ready." Shade and Blaine said at the same time.

Soon the three were headed down the road again. Selene drove them until she pulled up in front of a stairwell that led to an old rusted door. Like an old sewer entrance or fallout shelter.

Selene pulled a key out of her trunk, "Welcome to the headquarters for the Men of Letters. This is what we call the Bunker."
