Miranda woke up with the sun shining brightly into her room. She could hear the ocean waves crashing loudly and it made her smile. She quickly thanked the Lord for allowing her to see another morning and then she pushed back the covers and slowly walked to the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom she brushed her teeth and washed her face. Just as she finished drying her face and moisturizing it, she heard a light tap on her patio door making her smile even bigger.
Miranda peeked her head out of the bathroom and saw Ben standing there in slightly baggy pajama pants and a t-shirt. He looked so good and Miranda didn't understand how a man who was basically a stranger was having such an affect on her.
She quickly grabbed the robe that went with her night gown and wrapped it tightly around her body before opening the door. They both smiled instantly when they looked into each other's face and Ben grabbed her hand and kissed her cheek.
"Good morning Miranda," Ben sung. "Good morning Benjamin," Miranda replied blushing.
He lightly pulled her out of the door, and walked over to his patio. The table was decorated with fresh flowers and there were waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and grits. Miranda slightly gasped realizing he had done this to surprise her.
"I thought that it would be nice for us to have breakfast together since we shared dinner," Ben stated with a satisfied look on his face.
"Awww Ben, this is so nice of you," Miranda beamed as she walked closer to the table and Ben pulled out the chair for her to sit down.
When Ben sat down and looked at her he grabbed her hand, "I'm going to say grace," Ben said. They bowed their heads, Ben blessed the food and they began to eat.
"Ben can I be a little more honest with you about why I'm here?" Miranda asked. Ben nodded his head while chewing his food. Miranda let out a sigh, she usually would never tell her business but she felt like she could confide in him.
"Almost two months ago I had a heart attack." Miranda paused when Ben stopped eating his food and just looked at her concerned.
"I'm okay now, I am eating healthier and doing everything to try and lower my stress levels. But I knew that I needed to take sometime to myself and learn how to just relax. So my beautiful teenage son suggested that I take a trip, so he is with my ex-husband while I'm here," Miranda said looking nervously sheepish at Ben.
Ben took a sip of his juice and cleared his throat. What she had just told him hit him in his chest. He couldn't imagine her having to go through that, and it was crazy but he wished that he could've been there for her.
"Miranda I'm glad that you feel comfortable telling me this," he said as he grabbed her hand. He got up and pulled his chair closer to her, "I wish I could've been there with you. But I'm here with you now, so whatever I can do to help you I will," Ben said kissing her hand.
Miranda blushed, "Thank you Benjamin, I appreciate that a lot," Miranda smiled.
After they finished breakfast, Ben suggested that they go down to the beach and get in the water so they went to their rooms to get dress. When Miranda stepped out of the shower, she lotioned her body and slipped into a blue one piece swimsuit and put the matching coverup over it.
She grabbed a bag and put a blanket, hand sanitizer, water, sunscreen and a book in it. "Will I have time to read if I'm talking to Ben," she thought to herself. She shrugged and walked out of her front door.
Just as Miranda stepped out of her door, Ben did the same. She sighed looking at him in blue swim trunk and his shirt was already off. He was very muscular with abs and his mocha colored skin looked delectable.
Miranda bit her lip when she looked down and could see he was bulging. She didn't want other women looking at him and wish that she had the right to tell him to put his shirt on until they got to the beach.
Ben groaned internally looking at Miranda as even with her coverup on her curves still stood out, taking all of his focus.
"Ready," Ben asked Miranda as he took the bag from her hand. She nodded her head as they begin to walk towards the front of the resort.
As they walked through the lobby, a group women kept staring at Ben as they passed by. Miranda quickly noticed one getting up and walking in their direction, so she quickly grabbed Ben's hand. He turned and looked at Miranda with a surprised but happy look and he kissed her hand in return. She smiled and looked back as the lady stopped, looking disappointed and turned back to go back to where her friends were.
As they walked out of the door, they took a path to the side that quickly got them down to the beach. Along the way, Ben took one of the umbrella that was laying on the path and when they found a spot, he set it up.
As Ben did that Miranda laid out the blanket she brought with her along with the drinks and snacks she grabbed on the way out of the resort. Miranda was about to sit down when Ben grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's go get in the water first," he said smiling.
When they got in the water Ben began splashing Miranda with the water and she tired to cover herself.
"Benjamin Warren, STOP!" she yelled and laughed at the same time.
She went into defense mood and began splashing him with water just as hard as he laughed and fell into the water.
"That's what you get," she giggled as she tired to help him up but he just pulled her down with him.
For a moment they stopped and looked into each other's eyes. Ben leaned in and just as he was about to press his lips to hers, a wave came crashing on them and they both yelled at the impact of the wave.
The couple made they're way back to their spot and plopped down.
"That was fun," Miranda giggled. "Yes it was," Ben replied giggling just the same.
Miranda reached in her bag for sunscreen, "here turn around and I will put sunscreen on your back," she offered.
Ben turned around and involuntarily moaned when Miranda touched his skin. She massaged the sunscreen into his shoulders and down the side and back of his arms. Then moved back to the center of his back before massaging it into his lower back and he collapsed on top her making her shriek and laugh.
"Sorry but gosh Miranda that feels good," he said laying in her lap. She smiled as she put more in her hand and rubbed it into his chest. He closed his eyes as she massaged it into his chest, down his abdomen.
Miranda studied his face as she began to rub a little of the sunscreen onto his face. He was so handsome that she just wanted to kiss his lips like they almost did in the water but she didn't want to cross boundaries she didn't think they were ready for. Once she stopped Ben sat up and took the bottle from her and grabbed her legs.
"No Ben you don't have to," she said.
"I insist after the massage you just gave me," he replied.
He started at her feet and Miranda bit her lip hard to keep from moaning. He stared at her intently as he massaged the sunscreen into her feet and then slowly up her legs. "That feels amazing Ben," Miranda praised has she leaned back to relax on her arms.
After being done with the sunscreen, they opened their snacks and talked more. "Okay so I think we can both agree that we feel like we've known each other forever. But let's actually get to know each other better," Ben suggested.
"Okay, ask away," Miranda said as she ate a chip.
"Why did you choose general surgery," Ben asked. Miranda lit up, she loved talking about why she loved general surgery. Well because I get to be an expert of more than one organ. Yes it's cool to know the ends and outs of one organ like the brain or heart. But on any given day I can jump from the liver, to the stomach, then the pancreas," Miranda said beaming.
"What about you Benjamin Warren, why have you had so many careers," she giggled.
He glazed at her, "As a teenager me and my best friends Danny and Robert got into a car accident after we stole Danny's dad's car to go joy riding. Danny was thrown from the vehicle and hit his head." Miranda watched as Ben's jaw clinched as he told her the story and she scooted closer and grabbed his hand.
"He ended up having minimal brain function and has been in a long term care facility ever since. So I became an anesthesiologist because I could put people to sleep and wake them up. But after years of watching surgeons do surgery, I thought it was exciting and wanted to do it myself. So I went back to school for that and just when I was a year from finishing there was fire in the hospital and I helped save a fellow resident. I've always been an adrenaline junky and the rush from that was exhilarating. So I became a firefighter and then I was able to see the need for surgery out in the field so I combined the two," Ben responded.
"Well although all that change would drive me crazy, I'm glad you were able and brave enough to switch and go after every opportunity that you wanted," Miranda said as Ben blushed.
"Let's build a sand castle," Ben suggested as he moved to get up to go closer to the water.
"We don't even have any buckets to form a sand castle," Miranda exclaimed as Ben pulled her up.
They got down on their knees at the edge of the shore and Ben began scooping sand together as Miranda pushed water from the waves that rushed to shore onto it.
"I took a sculpting class once and so I learned that if your careful you can still form a shape," Ben informed as he patted out in imperfect rectangle for the base.
"How long were you married?" Ben asked as he quickly looked up at her to make sure his question wasn't too intrusive.
"Miranda smiled slightly to let him know it was okay. "I was married for 10 years and we divorced when my son was almost 2. I've been single almost the same amount of time," Miranda said helping Ben shape a tower.
"You've been single...for 10 years Miranda!" Ben exclaimed.
"Well I did date someone a few years back but that one doesn't count," Miranda giggled.
"What about you? When was your last relationship?" Miranda asked.
Ben took a deep breathe, "almost a year ago, we dated on and off for a few years but she wanted to end it and I agreed. But we were friends before dating so it was hard to let go. And although we made sense it didn't feel right," Ben explained.
Miranda nodded with understanding as they finished their sand castle. "Our day on the beach has been fun but are you ready to go," Ben asked.
"Yessss, I really want to wash this sand off of me," Miranda whined. They gathered their things and headed back to the resort.
"Favorite movie genre," Ben asked. "Anything Sci-fi, you? Miranda counter asked. "ACTION," they said together and laughed loudly.
As they walked they continued to ask and answer questions about each other. When they reached the door to their suites Miranda held onto Ben's arm. "I'm not ready to stop talking to you. I really like getting to know you," she confessed.
"I do too. We don't have to stop, after we get cleaned up I can come over and we can keep talking. The offer to knock on you patio door still stands doesn't it," Ben said giggling.
"Yes it does and I will see you in 20 minutes then," Miranda said.
When Miranda stepped into her suite, she quickly got out of her bathing suite and hopped into the shower. Once she felt nice and clean she quickly put lotion on her body, brushed her teeth and slid into some thin lounge pants and a low cut t-shirt and sprayed a travel size version of her favorite perfume on.
Once Ben got into his suite he rushed to take a shower and get dressed. Once he was dressed he paused for a moment as he looked into the mirror and realized how excited he was to be around this woman. He had never had such intense feelings for a woman before. "Is this what love at first sight or true love felt like?" He thought to himself. He sprayed his favorite cologne and headed over to Miranda's suite.
Ben decided to go to her front door to switch it up. He knocked lightly on the door and Miranda quickly opened the door. Her braids looked beautiful draped across her a shoulders and though she had on a lounging outfit it still accentuated her thickness.
"I see we both had the same idea," Ben said pulling at his t-shirt.
"Yeah, I just figured that since we were going to be hanging out and talking that I could be dressed relaxed," Miranda explained.
"Same," Ben agreed.
They walked into the room and Ben smell a light, sexy floral scent. Hmmm is that your perfume that I smell Miranda?" Ben inquired.
"Yes...you like it?" Miranda asked grinning.
"I do," he said as he stepped close and put his nose in her neck to smell it on her skin. Even though he wasn't touching her, him being this close sent shivers throughout her body and she instantly felt a slight wetness in her panties.
She hadn't felt or been sexual in a long time. She was so focused on her work and son that she had even gotten out of the habit of pleasuring herself. She touch his chest and stepped back,
"Hmmm Benjamin you can't be doing that," she giggled nervously.
"Sorry Miranda, you just smell so good and I love it," Ben confessed.
"You smell good to Benjamin, but I just don't need my body reacting like it just did," Miranda confessed again.
Just as Ben was about to say something else there was a knock at the door. "Oh yay, there's the food," Miranda exclaimed. When she opened the door, one of the staff rolled the cart in with several trays of food. Miranda quickly grabbed a tip of the desk and handed it to the woman before she left. When the door closed, Miranda turned around and looked at Ben smiling.
"Since you provided us with breakfast, I figured that I'd do dinner," Miranda explained.
Ben walked closer to Miranda, grabbed her hands, leaned down and softly kissed her cheek.
"Thank you," Ben said. Miranda blushed hard as Ben began rolling it onto the patio and uncovered all the food.
They ate and continued to talk as they watched the sunset and the ocean waves crash onto shore.
"What is one thing you regret Miranda," Ben asked.
"I've had hard situations happen in my life both personally and professionally. But at the end of the day there isn't much that I would say I regret Benjamin."
"Well Miranda Bailey, I can't say that because honestly...I regret not meeting you sooner," Ben professed as he looked into her eyes.
"Benjamin Warren!" Miranda said blushing and looking away.
"Hey so I'm sure we can find a sci-fi movie on tv...want to go inside?" Miranda suggested softly.
"Okay," Ben said excitedly.
He put all the food trays back on the cart and pushed it through the room and outside the front door. When he turned back around, Miranda had pushed the covers on her bed back and was sitting patiently waiting for him to join her.
Ben suddenly felt nervous and excited at the same time. He didn't expect anything to happen but being able to be close to this amazing woman gave him butterflies.
Ben got into the bed and sat up against the headboard. "So what are we watching?" Ben asked watching Miranda scroll through the channels.
"Ohhhh a there is a Star Wars marathon is on. What are the odds of that," Miranda said excitedly.
They watched the first movie but by the second movie started they had scooted closer to each other. By the end of the second movie Miranda's head was on Ben's chest with her arms were wrapped around his waist and her leg was thrown across him.
Just as the third movie was coming on Ben heard light snoring. Miranda looked so beautiful and Ben lightly ran his fingers through her ponytail. Just looking at her legs thrown across his and the way her booty just looked big and perfect was making his manhood grow and he didn't think he should go there yet.
"Miranda...Miranda," Ben whispered into her ear.
"Hmmm," Miranda moaned as she woke up slightly.
"I can leave and let you sleep," Ben said trying to move her off him.
"Bennnn no...please...I don't want you to leave. I haven't felt this restful in awhile and laying in your arms feels good. I haven't felt that in a long time so please don't leave," Miranda pleaded.
"Having you in my arms feels amazing too Miranda...okay," Ben said as he slid down in the bed.
Miranda put her face into Ben's chest as he placed his arm across her waist and tangled their legs together. Ben turned the tv off and listened to Miranda's light snoring and the sound of the ocean until sleep found him.
