April Fools Day II
Chapter 2: April Fools Part 2
The bell rang, signalling that first period is over.
Students went into the hallway, still wanting to pull pranks on others, while our favorite blonde couple was still planning on planning on pranking each other. Ever since they made their bet, they have spent most of first period trying to come up with a way to prank the other.
Arnold was concentrating, thinking hard as he tried to come up with a prank.
"Now, how to do I get Helga?..."He mused as he gathered his belongings from his desk.
He knew that he didn't want to repeat what happened in fourth grade with the flashing present thing. He wanted to prank Helga but he didn't want to risk hurting her again. Sure, she didn't ACTUALLY get blind but it's still not worth the risk.
Anyway...during first period, he made a brief list of potential ideas he could do that he either didn't like, didn't have time to make or felt that Helga could see coming, so he went back to the drawing board.
"Hmm...there's got to be something I can do to prank Helga that won't be able to predict..."He mused as he tried to think.
He considered something like ringing her locker with water balloons or something similar but that didn't seem like it could work since Helga would easily predict such things...she already rigged his locker this morning anyway and he wanted to try something that she hasn't done yet herself. He needed to think of something great that would get Helga before she gets him.
As he walked out, Helga had walked out with him, acting cocky as she approached him.
"So...figure out a way to prank me, Arnoldo?..."Helga said in a competitive voice.
Arnold smirked.
"Oh, I've got something..."Arnold said.
It was a bit of a lie since he had nothing yet but he needed to keep a poker face. His girlfriend, on the other hand, was smiling and patted him on the shoulder, still thinking she had the upper hand here.
"Well...may the best man win, Football Head..."Helga said with her usual smirk.
"Whatever you say, Helga..."He said as she she walked off.
Arnold was curious what she had planned. He knew that she'd try something on him but he also had to think of something and fast before SHE got him.
He walked into the hallway, being careful since everyone is still pranking each other like crazy. Even Gerald and Phoebe were getting in on the holiday fun.
"APRIL FOOLS!..."Phoebe shouted after she pranked her boyfriend by covering him in silly-string from the fake flower she had.
"Heh...Good one, Babe..."Gerald said after recovering from the prank while his girlfriend giggled.
Arnold saw this and sighed.
He still tried to think of something to pull on Helga. Who knows what she had planned for him to win the bet?
He tried to think.
"There's gotta be something I can do..."He thought as he tried to think.
He looked out the window and was watching the local pigeons flying in the air. He noticed some of their feathers were slowly falling by the window. As Arnold looked at it, he was hit with inspiration.
Arnold smiled as he got an idea.
"That's it..."He whispered as he rushed off to get what he needed.
Meanwhile, his blonde girlfriend saw him leave and smirked.
"Oh, Arnold...Angel of my heart...my one true love...You are so kind, so pure, so noble and true...which is why you're going to be easy to prank..."She thought, at first smitten before becoming mischievous.
She knew that she had to prank him but she didn't want to go too far like she did in the fourth grade. Sure, it lead to her getting to go with him to the dance but it also ended up with her in the pool and temporary loss of vision in the middle of the Holiday. Plus, she didn't want to risk hurting her precious little football headed angel boyfriend. His face was too cute to leave any scratches on it.
Besides, she's already going with him to the dance tonight, so she doesn't have to guilt him or anything...even if it was kinda funny and enjoyable making him wait on her hand and foot that year.
She shook away from the memories as she recalled that she had planned to do. She already had an idea on what to do, though she going to have to work fast...before Arnold tried and pull off whatever prank he could come up with.
Still, she is confident that she was going to get to him before he could get her, since she is the pranking master.
"Prepare to lose, Football Head..."She whispered competitively as she went to go get her prank ready.
During lunch time
With Arnold
The young Football-Headed Boy was getting ready for what he hopes will be the funniest stunt he's ever pulled on April 1st. He had an idea on pulling a prank on his sweet but sneaky girlfriend. One that she would never see coming and it involved feathers.
His idea is to drop a bucket of jelly and feathers onto Helga when she walked into the cafeteria. He got the idea from seeing the pigeon feathers outside and now he was going to set up a quick and easy prank on Helga, so he can win this bet with his girlfriend.
It was perfect and yet he was having doubts.
"I hope this works..."He thought after he set it up.
The bucket was place above the door of the cafeteria and it would drop on Helga... only when he pulled the string, so no one else would get hit on accident.
Anyway, his prank is ready. Now, all he had to do is wait.
Unknown to him, his girlfriend is getting her own prank for him at the same time.
Helga was rigging a dozen water balloons that are filled to the brim with chocolate milk. Helga had a massive grin on her face as she set up her booby-trap for her special fooball-headed boyfriend, which involves using a mini catapult that she made herself a few years back.
One that was currently waiting to launch the water balloons at her boyfriend.
"Wait till Arnold gets a load of this..."Helga thought with a snicker as she stepped back to admire her handiwork.
All she had to do was wait for Arnold to walk out of those doors and BLAM! One chocolate covered boyfriend.
"Hope Arnold doesn't mind having a chocolate milkshake on him right after lunch..."Helga chuckled as she looked back at her prank, feeling confident as she looked around.
She spotted her boyfriend nearby. He was already in the cafeteria, totally oblivious to the prank his loving girlfriend has planned for him
Oh, she was going to get him with this for sure...
"Oh, this is going to be good! I can't wait to see his cute face covered with so much chocolate milk, that even Chocolate Boy couldn't help but be jealous!..."She thought as she was ready to fire her baseball sized water-balloons straight at her boyfriend...though there was a small voice in the back of her head, telling her to stop and think this over.
"Is this prank too much? I mean...he doesn't really like April fools... what if he gets hurt or angry?..."She mused, beginning to have second thoughts on her master plan.
She shook it off and remember that they both agreed to this bet. So, she was once again readying herself to fire her water balloons.
She felt conflicted, but determined to see this through. What she didn't know is that a certain Football Headed boy is having similar thoughts.
With Arnold
Arnold was still waiting for Helga to enter the cafeteria but as he waited, he was still having doubts.
"Should I be doing this? What if something goes wrong?..."He thought as he looked at the bucket on the string.
He was contemplating the situation he put himself in. Was this too much?
What if this prank works too well and upsets Helga? What if he accidentally ends up hurting her just like what happened last time?
If that happened, he could never forgive himself!
Sure, he wanted to prove he could do a prank and he wanted to win the bet that they both agreed to but not if she gets hurt in the process. He didn't want to go too that far just because he wanted to show her that he could pull off an April Fools prank.
Unknown to him, his girlfriend, who was in the school's hallway waiting for him, was having similar thoughts.
"I mean...I love April Fools day...but I love that little Football Head too much and I don't hurt his feelings with a prank that might cause some issues between us at the dance tonight..."She thought, her rare conscious reminded her.
All the while, Arnold was having some similar thoughts himself.
"If I go through with this, something might go terribly wrong and I just know that I'll regret it if it does happen..."His own conscious thought loudly.
The two blondes looked to their pranks, then thought about their significant other before they both walked over to dismantle their traps.
"I can't do it..."Arnold and Helga admitted at the same time.
However, before either of them could stop their pranks, the opposite happened.
By sheer rotten luck, they triggered their own pranks when they tried to do the opposite and both traps sprang all on their own, targeting their creators since they were the closest to their respective pranks. The bucket dropped down and the balloons shot forward. Helga and Arnold both saw what was about to happen but couldn't react fast enough to avoid their own traps.
"Oh criminy!..."Helga muttered as she knew what was about to happen now.
The end result was that both pranks hit their respective creators at the same time. Arnold was the one who gets feathered and Helga's the one who is drenched with the chocolate milk.
The other kids in the hallway saw this and laughed at them, Arnold and Helga blushed in embarrassment, especially when some were taking out their phones and snapping pictures.
"Criminy!..."Helga shouted again as the chocolate milk was dripping from her hair and face.
"Aw, man!..."Arnold said as he sneezed due to the feathers tickling his nose.
The two noticed each other and saw their significant other splattered and completely covered in feathers and chocolate milk.
"Um...April Fools..."Helga said as she tried to wipe the chocolate milk from her hair and clothes.
"Uh...April Fools..."Arnold said as he wiped the feathers off of him.
The two looked at each other before they ended up laughing at each other, and what happened to both of their apparent master plans backfiring.
"Arnold, what happened? You look like a giant chicken..."Helga said, seeing her boyfriend in jelly and feathers.
"My prank backfired on me..."Arnold said, still laughing. "What about you?..."He asked.
"My prank catapulted me in the back..."Helga admitted, now realizing that they both just got pranked...and neither one of them felt that too bad about it since it as kind of funny.
The two blondes looked at each other and laughed some more.
"So, how about we call it a tie?..."Arnold suggested.
Helga and her competitive nature didn't like anything but winning. She looked at him and sighed before she nodded.
"Alright, Football-Head. It's a tie..."Helga said as she offered her hand to him.
Arnold took it, only for him to yelp as Helga shocked him with a joy buzzer. The blonde boy was stunned as his girlfriend looked smug now.
"Got you again, Football Head..."Helga said with a smirk as she displayed her joy buzzer.
Arnold frowned and wondered if she somehow planned all of this. Helga noticed his expression and her smug look dropped a little bit.
"Oh man, did I go too far?..."She thought, wondering if she made a mistake.
However, to her surprise...Arnold grabbed her other hand and shocked her too. It turns out that he had a joy buzzer too.
She turned to Arnold agape.
"April Fools, Helga..."He said mischievously.
Helga was silent, before they both burst out laughing.
"Okay...now it's a tie, Football Head..."She said.
"Whatever you say, Helga..."He said, still laughing.
The young love birds kept laughing before smiling at each other, both were glad that the other is okay and that this holiday didn't head south. They shared a quick kiss before walking off together to get cleaned off.
The young couple then spent the rest of the day with each other, happy and in high spirits as they laughed about their pranks and their backfires, finding it hilarious. They later attended the annual April Fools Day Dance together, where they once again got to dance the tango...however, this time...there was no false blindness or cane to hit Arnold with...and no pool to fling Helga in.
No, there was just two blonde lovebirds who were genuinely having a good time with no ulterior motives or planned pranks...though they did occasionally pull a small practical joke on each other, which both blondes didn't complain too much about it, since it was just some harmless fun between them.
Right now, they are just a young couple who are happily in love, enjoying their time together and continued their tango but Helga couldn't resist saying this.
"Arnold, you're being kinda rough..."Helga said as he dipped her.
Her boyfriend remember the last time she said that and couldn't resist saying the following.
"Don't worry, my dear Helga... you're in good hands..."He said in the same tone and smile he had the last time.
Helga swooned at that and nearly fainted but Arnold managed to keep her in his arms while lovingly staring at her.
"I love you, Arnold..." Helga whispered as he looked into her eyes.
"I love you too, Helga..." Arnold told her before the two kissed.
After that, they kept tangoing together, enjoying themselves throughout the dance and the ever unpredictable holiday.
All in all, it was a pretty good April Fools Day after all.
