Chapter 2:

-Hange's pov-

The following morning I got ready to go do a follow up on the new titans I captured recently. I'm still very upset over bean and sawney's death but ill surely avenge them. All my hard work went down the drain and experimenting with titans is risky, but I sure do love discovering new things.

I walked out my room and went down to the hallway while greeting everyone else and as I walked past Levi's room I thought about last night's convo. Could he perhaps have a soft spot for me I said to myself with a playful smirk while pushing up my glasses. Levi may be a boring and lame person but deep down I know he cares about me like he does for the rest of the squad. I've always imagined how carefree Levi would be if he just smiled once in a while.

As I'm daydreaming about this I accidently bump into Levi himself. What a coincidence huh?

"watch where your going 4 eyes" Levi said as I back up a bit and repeatedly say sorry.

One may wonder how its possible to be grumpy 24/7 and well Levi is your answer. I continue walking down the hallway and out the building towards the horse stables. As I walk up to my horse, I pet her and feed her some carrots while I set the saddle on her. I lead her out of the stable and lift myself up onto the horse. While I head over to the experimental titans, I greet everyone who walks past me, and my assistant runs towards me with a book in her hand.

"commander Hange! We have made a few new discoveries concerning the recently captured titans and would like you to take a look at them."

"well well well, let's have a lookie here"

I look thru the notes and pages of data that was collected during my absence. As I'm carefully reading through them I nod to myself and try to make connections.

"Well thank you for jotting these observations down, ill look go test them out myself to see if it's true" I said as I motioned my horse to start moving again.

Each day goes by and my team and I haven't made any significant discoveries about the titans or how to defeat them. It frustrates me to see that I've made very little progress in just a few months and we've lost more than half of our soldiers in that time. Hopefully, with Eren being the carrier of the Attack titan, we can easily kill off the remaining titans in wall Maria.

I get off my horse and tie up the reins to a log while she drinks some water from a bucket. The two titans that have been through so much torture attempt to look up at me as I walk near them. I have yet to give them a name but perhaps Bean jr. and Sawney jr. would be fitting. I could tell that the titans were desperate to eat me already but that didn't stop me from approaching them. I stared deeply into their huge eyes and saw the lifelessness in them. Kind of pitied the fate that was sewn to them, but their past is no longer apart of what they are now. Imagine being a titan though, must be dreadful to be a mindless walking giant in which all they know to do is slaughter and destroy humanity. Sometimes I wonder turning into titan would be better than killing them. Being human is too much work and I lose brain cells just doing the same thing. With a deep sigh, I look at the two titans and walk on back to my horse.

"Continue the experiments and research and I'll be back later today to check up on them" I said as my assistant saluted to me with a yes ma'am.

Right when I untied the reins of my horse, someone ran up to me saying captain Levi needed to talk to me. Hearing that it could be something important, I quickly jumped up onto my horse and whipped the reins. I grabbed the reins and pulled back to slow down my horse when I saw Levi waiting for me outside by the horse stables.

"Hey Levi! You got something to tell me I heard?"

"Hmm yea, Erwin wants us to take the brats for some training and would like for you to assist me" He said while is usual intimidating gray eyes looked at me.

"Ah ok, and stop calling them brats" I said in attempt to lighten up the atmosphere which ultimately failed.

After a short period of silence I asked, "So uh where are we training them?"

"By the forest before sunset, we need to sharpen their 3D maneuver skills" Levi replied as he continued to drink his cup of tea which till this day I still don't know why he holds it from the top.

"Aye Aye captain, I'll be there" with a light nod and smirk I get off my horse and lead her back into her stable and lock the gate.

Today has surely been a long day even though it hasn't even ended yet but I'm looking forward to helping the young cadets train and hopefully catching another titan, an abnormal one this time. As I giggled to myself of the thought of coming across another wonderful titan, I walked into the cafeteria to grab myself some lunch and head back to my room.
