It's been a few months since Jeyne's death and the people are still mourning. Though, her grandchildren thankfully live. The oldest, Alayne seems to be full of energy and emotion for the few months she has, whilst the others, Alester and Rhea are calmer and passive most of the time. She doesn't blame them for their mother's death, no one does it's just how the gods had seen fit, her mother died whilst giving birth to her. Her youngest, Ronnel adores them and still doesn't understand that they're too young to talk.
Today was supposed to be Alys' wedding to the Elys Waynwood but it got rescheduled since Jeyne's death. Lord Waynwood wasn't happy for delaying the wedding yet again but he didn't say anything 'Sometimes these lords only care about themselves, even if they claim to be the most honorable lords in all of The Seven Kingdom. The Vale is full of Prideful lords even more than the rest of the South, at least they don't claim to be the Purest, well aside for her family and their cousins, The Velaryons and Celtigars'.
Yesterday, they received a raven from The Belmores, they finally drove back the Mountain Clansmen, this is good news may one of this day she could visit her old friend, Joy Belmore formerly Rosby, the lady of Strongsong, maybe she could betroth Ronnel to one of her daughters, but Ronnel is too young to decide, she'll have to wait for a while until he is more mature.
"Mama, what are you thinking about?" asks Ronnel
"Nothing, my little falcon. Where's your sister?"
"Aly, she is with Meg"
Ah, yes the Ruthermont girl, she and Alys always got along it's good that she choose her as her handmaiden. When they are together they are quite the trouble makers even more so than Ronnel. They've managed to infuriate Septa Hanna and she's the calmest person in all of the Eyrie.
"Can we go to see the babies?" asks her son
"Ronnel, I told you this already they are sleeping"
"But why, I want to play with them"
"Ronnel, babies need to sleep they're too young to play"
"It's not fair I want to play, they should grow up quicker"
"Pray to the Seven, maybe they would grant you your wish"
"Really, they would can we go now, can we?"
'I really shouldn't have said that'
"Ronnel, we can't go right now to the Sept"
"Why not?"
"The Septon isn't there yet" 'Really, that's the first thing that came to mind'
"Oh, too bad, can we go to Aly?"
"Yes, I think Alys would be delighted" 'I don't think that she would be now"
"Maybe I could tell her about Lady Mya and Lord Arthur" says Ronnel
"Who are Lady Mya and Lord Arthur?" 'He is probably talking about the two toy falcons Jeyne made for him as a gift"
"They are my friends"
"And where are they now?"
"In my room, can we go and get them?"
"Yes, as long as you're not running the whole way the…" before she could finish her youngest was already running down the halls of the castle.
Septa Hanna was finally gone 'I took her ages to leave'. Finally, she and Meg could work in peace without her interrupting them every time they made a mistake while sewing, well mostly her not Meg, she couldn't understand how Meg could sew so well. They were supposed to sew the sigils of the major houses of the Vale, while Meg had already finished the sigils for Belmore, Grafton, Hunter, and in the process of finishing Royce, Alys was stuck at the sigil of her house.
"Alys, why are you so angry?" Meg asks
"Why shouldn't I be?"
"I've never seen you so angry in my life, I just want to know, is it about Elys Waynwood?"
"Yes, of course, it's about Elys"
"But what did he do?"
"Nothing, I just don't want to marry him"
"Did you ever met him?"
"No… that's the problem I don't know him, I don't want to marry a stranger"
"Why didn't you contact him before?"
"I didn't have the time and why are you so full of questions today?"
"I'm always full of questions, how long until the wedding?"
"A fortnight"
"You could try to contact him until the wedding"
"Why didn't I think of that"
"You were too busy being angry"
"Has your father found you a husband?"
"Not yet, but my brother says he's considering Lord Hardyng's offer"
"Aren't they vassals of the Waynwoods?"
"Yes they are"
"Maybe we could visit each other after we're married"
"Yes we could but my father hasn't agreed why the marriage yet"
"Yes but still"
From what she saw Meg had finally finished with the Royce sigil and then she heard steps 'Please don't be Septa Hanna' and the door opened and it was her mother and younger brother 'Thank the Seven'.
"Mother, Ronnel, what are you doing here?" asks Alys
"Ronnel wanted to stay with you two" her Mother says
"He is more than welcomed Lady Arryn" says Meg
"Yes come here Ronnel, what do you have there?" asks Alys
"They are Lady Mya and Lord Arthur" Ronnel says
"And why haven't we've seen them before?" Alys asks
While she and Meg were talking with Ronnel their Mother left returning to her duties as Lady of the Eyrie.
"Meg, could you stat here with Ronnel I need to take care of something"
"It would be my pleasure"
Ronnel was looking like he wanted to protest but Alys left before she could hear anything. She went to her room and started writing her letter to Elys maybe she could start to know him before their marriage.
"Dear Elys,
I know it's too late but I wanted to know you before our wedding. I think neither of us wants to marry a stranger. I want to know and maybe what are your interests and how do you feel about the marriage. I know this letter is short but I promise you the future ones will be longer.
Signed Alys Arryn, your betrothed"
Now all she needed to do was go to the Maester's quarter and send it. Now that will be the easy part.
Sorry, it took so long life got in the way.
I hope you like it, the next chapter will probably be Alys and Elys' wedding.
