. [ Feverish Magic ].
.
Finland cursed loudly as the temperature inside the cabin seemed to drop another 5 degrees and immediately threw another log onto the fire in retaliation. Out of the three Scandinavians it had always been Norway who was claimed the magical nation of the trio - Denmark sure didn't have more magic than the kind which allowed him to stay as the representation of his country, and Sweden... Well, he had never mentioned having any magic, and Finland had to admit he and the rest the Nordics always just assumed this meant Sweden didn't have any additional magic either. Just like Denmark.
At times like this, however, when Sweden battled a stubborn fever below three thick winter blankets at the end of spring, inside a log cabin which was STILL steadily dropping in temperature despite the roaring fire in the fireplace and not having any modern machines like air-condition... Finland couldn't help but to wonder. Sweden's cheeks and forehead were flushed with feverish warmth, but as Finland had learnt from experience over the years the rest of Sweden's body was always unnaturally, almost freezing, cold during his fevers. Almost as if his body radiated cold. Then, as the fever eventually broke, the temperature inside the cabin would gradually rise again in almost the same pace as Sweden's body temperature also reached a more normal one – as if by magic.
Despite Finland's annoyance at the possible magic interfering with the inside temperature of his home, however, Finland would always consider the whole ordeal worth it in the end when he was finally able to sit down on a chair next to Sweden's bed after the fever was broken and he could feel a more natural warmth return to Sweden's entire body. It was even more worth it when Sweden later finally woke up again.
"D'd yu' stay up all n'ght?" Sweden questioned tiredly as he tried to blink the sleep and aftermath of the fever out of his eyes.
Finland gently stroke Sweden's sweaty hair back and gave him a tired, but genuine, smile.
"Couldn't go to sleep without making sure you would be okay, now could I?" Finland reminded Sweden softly, throwing back the very same words Sweden had told him many times throughout the years at the same question.
"S'rry for w'rry…" Sweden slurred back, visibly still dazed and tired from the whole ordeal of battling the fever, and Finland couldn't help but to chuckle.
"Don't mention it. I should probably see this as payback for all the times I have worried you anyway."
Finland was rewarded with a snort of amusement at that, but it was obvious Sweden was still tired.
"Go back to sleep," Finland told him. "I'll still be here when you wake up."
"Pr'mise?" Sweden asked with a small and tired voice while he slowly closed his eyes.
"Mm," Finland promised and laid down on the bed next to Sweden, on top of the blankets. "Rest."
Sweden, who was never really able to deny one of Finland's requests, fell back asleep before Finland even had the time to sneak an arm over Sweden's blanketed chest to hold him close. In the meantime the cabin, which previously had been almost freezing cold despite the roaring fire in the fireplace, was finally pleasantly warm again. Almost as if by magic.

(A/N: I actually DO headcanon Sweden to have magic, but I can't decide on if I see Sweden as not knowing about his own magic, if he simply doesn't use it because he's uncomfortable with using it, and/or if doesn't use it because his control of it isn't as good as Norway's. Until I decide I suppose the situation in this fanfiction is a good middle ground, though, to leave it a bit mysterious if it was actually Sweden's magic or not which made the cabin colder.)
