At nigth time onboard The Keldysh

The Mir subs are being launched. Mir Two is already in the water,

Man (Over Loudspeaker): Vnimanye, vnimanye...

Bobert : Cody! There's a satellite call for you.

Cody , Bobert we're launching. You see these submersibles going in the water?

Bobert Trust me, buddy. You want to take this call.

Cody This better be good.

With that Cody walks torwards the phone.

Bobert You got to speak up. She's kind of old.

Bobert hands Cody the phone

Cody Great. This is Cody . - How can I help you, Mrs.- -

Bobert Calvert. Penny Calvert.

Mrs. Calvert? I was just wondering if you had found the Heart of the Ocean yet, Mr. Cody.

Cody goes wide eyed and looks at bobert Bobert sees his shocked expression...

Bobert Told you you wanted to take the call.

Cody All right, you have my attention, Penny. Can you tell us who the woman in the picture is?

Penny Oh,yes. The woman in the picture is me.

Monstrous helicopter was thundering across the ocean. There is no land at either horizon. The Keldysh is visible in the distance.

At the window of the monster helicopter. Penny's face is visible, looking out calmly.

Jared ( Yelling OverEngineNoise): She's a gosh darn liar- Some nut case seeking money or publicity. God only knows why, like that Russian babe, Anesthesia.

Bobert They're inbound!

Both Cody And Jared walk down the deck torwards the helicopter landing zone located at the front of the ship with Jared talking to Cody as they walked.

Jared Penny Fitzgerald died on the Titanic when she was 17, right?

Cody That's right.

Jared - If she had lived, she'd be over 100.

Cody 101 next month.

Jared Okay, so she's a very old gosh darn liar. Look, I've already done the background on this woman all the way back to the '20s when she was working as an actress.

An actress! There's your first clue, Sherlock. Her name was Penny Watterson back then. Then she marries this guy named Calvert. They move to Cedar Rapids and she punches out a couple of kids. Now, Calvert's dead, and from what I hear, Cedar Rapids is dead.

Cody And everybody who knows about the diamond is supposed to be dead or on this boat, but she knows.

Crew men pile up the luggage on the deck infroint of Bobert and Jared

Jared Doesn't exactly travel light, does she?

Cody Mrs. Calvert, I'm Cody .Welcome to the Keldysh.

The carfuily help pennys weel chair onto the deck Okay, let's get her inside there.

Cody Hi, Ms. Calvert.

Lizzie Hi.

Cody Welcome to the Keldysh.

Man: Hey. Hey! -

One of the crew gives Cody a bowl of Gold Fish

In a room Penny and Lizzie were setting things up when there is knocking at the door

Rose: Yes? -

Cody Are your staterooms all right?

Rose: Oh,yes, very nice. Have you met my granddaughter Lizzie? She takes care of me.

Lizzie We met just a few minutes ago. Remember, Nana, up on deck?

Both lizzy and penny put up the last two pictures

Penny There, that's nice. Have to have my pictures when I travel.

Cody Can I get you anything? ls there anything you'd like?

Penny Yes. I would like to see my drawing.

At the lab

Penny looks at the drawing of her young self seeing how preserved it was

Suddely there was a flash back of someone drawing penny before returning back to the preset

Cody Louis XVI wore a fabulous stone that was called the Blue Diamond of the Crown which disappeared in 1792 about the same time old Louis lost everything from the neck up.

Cody then shows penny the picture of the necklace.

The theory goes that the crown diamond was chopped, too recut into a heart-like shape that became known as "Heart of the Ocean." Today it would be worth more than the Hope Diamond.

Penny It was a dreadful, heavy thing. I only wore it this once.

Lizzie just looked at the drawing.

Lizzie: You actually think this is you, Nana?

Penny It is me, dear. Wasn't I a dish?

Cody I tracked it down through insurance records- An old claim that was settled under terms of absolute secrecy. Can you tell me who the claimant was, Penny?

Penny : I should imagine someone named Wilson.

Cody : Harold Wilson, that's right. Pittsburgh steel tycoon.

Claim was for a diamond necklace his son Tobias bought his fiancee-you a week before he sailed on Titanic. It was filed right after the sinking so the diamond had to have gone down with the ship. You see the date?

Lizzie "April 14, 1912."

Jared Which means if your grandmother is who she says she is she was wearing the diamond the day the Titanic sank.

And that makes you my new best friend.

Cody just smiled at penny

Cody then shows Penny a table of stuff they found in penny's state room

These are some of the things we recovered from your stateroom.

Laid out on a worktable are fifty or so objects, from mundane to valuable. Penny, shrunken in her chair, can barely see over the table top. With a trembling hand she lifts a tortoise shell hand mirror, inlaid with mother of pearl. She caresses it wonderingly. Penny started to smile upon seeing it.

Penny : This was mine. How extraordinary! And it looks the same as it did the last time I saw it.

She turns the mirror over and looks at her ancient face in the cracked glass.

Penny The reflection has changed a bit. ( GaspsQuietly)

The Elderly fairy then picks up a ornate art-nouveau . Hair comb A jade butterfly takes flight on the ebony handle of the comb. She turns it slowly, remembering. Cody can see that Penny is experiencing a rush of images and emotions that have lain dormant for eight decades as she handles the butterfly comb

Cody Are you ready to go back to Titanic?

In another room

Jared starts a computer animated graphic simulator on the screen, which parallels his rapid-fire narration

It begins with Titanic hitting the iceberg. It shows the series of holes

Jared: Okay, here we go. She hits the berg on the starboard side, right? She kind of bumps along punching holes like Morse code- dit-dit-dit- along the side, below the waterline.

The simulation shows the bulkheads filling up spilling over from one to the next

Jared Then the forward compartments start to flood. Now as the water level rises, it spills over the watertight bulkheads which unfortunately don't go any higher than E deck.

The simulation then shows the bow of the ship going down and the stern begining to rise up. The simulation then shows the first funnel falling over and hitting the water

So now as the bow goes down, the stern rises up slow at first, then faster and faster until finally she's got her whole rear is sticking up in the air

The simulation then shows the stern of the ship rising up into the air with the third funnel falling.

and that's a big rear . We're talking. 20 30 thousand tons.

The simulation the shows the ships ligths going out.

And the hull's not designed to deal with that pressure, so what happens?

The simulation the shows the ship splitting in half and the last two funnels falling.

Jared splits, right down to the keel and the stern falls back level.

Then as the bow sinks, it pulls the stern vertical and finally detaches. then it shows the stern sinking

The simulation shows the bow pulling the stern vertically with it detaching and the bow sinks and disappears from View

Jared Now, the stern section just kind of bobs there like a cork for a couple of minutes, floods and finally goes under about 2:20 a.m. two hours and 40 minutes after the collision.

The simulation then shows the stern disappearing beneath the surface and then shows the bow on its journey to the ocean floor.

Jared bow section planes away landing about a half a mile away going 20, 30 knots when it hits the ocean floor.

The simulation then shows the bow hitting the ocean floor

Jared ( lmitates Crashing) Pretty cool, huh?

Penny Thank you for that fine forensic analysis, Mr. Bodine. Of course, the experience of it was somewhat different.

Cody Will you share it with us?
