The gates were open. AJ launched himself forward along with others to find a bot he could use to gain some points. The one and two pointers would be his main targets. The three pointers were a little too big and risky. Veering off in one direction down an alleyway AJ tried to separate himself from the group to find more for himself. The alleyway ended and AJ came face to face with two one point bots. The bots wasted no time each throwing a punch at AJ. AJ's grin intensified as he activated his quirk and enveloped himself in a bubble that stopped each bot's arm in their tracks. AJ's quirk was a mutation of his dad's and it was powerful with plenty of potential to grow. It was called chronostasis and it allowed him to generate various different sizes of spheres within a 10 meter radius that slow time when something that's not AJ enters them. The smaller the sphere the more drastic the effect. The biggest sphere AJ could make is around 20 meters any bigger than that and the slowing effect loses too much of its potency to be useful.
AJ jumped on the slowed arm of one of the bots and ran toward the things shoulder where he created another sphere on the bots main body as the first disappeared. Another thing to note the center of the created spheres has to be in his radius if he moves 10 meters away from the center of the sphere the sphere disappears so even though he can create a sphere 20 meters big he can only stay within ten meters of the center or the sphere will disappear.
AJ hit the first bots off switch then immediately turned to face the second. It wasn't long before the second bot powered off and hit the ground. Things were going according to plan for AJ until about half way through. All the test takers had spread out pretty evenly so finding his own bots was getting harder to do and on top of that as fun as combat was AJ was trying to become a hero. He spent too much of his time slowing fists that were about to send unaware and injured students to his dad's hospital. As AJ was looking for another bot to get a point out of he heard someone's scream of fear.
"Dammit AJ" he muttered to himself and ran in the direction of the scream
AJ rounded the corner and saw a girl cornered by three 3 point bots
"Ok AJ lets do this" he said to himself running towards a bot in the middle. As AJ ran in between the three pointers legs he activated his quirk and made a 20 meter sphere to envelope all three bots as well as the girl. As he quickly picked up the girl he realized it was the same pink girl from the lecture hall. He flung her over his shoulder and ran back behind the bots and deactivated his quirk. While the bots punched an empty sidewalk AJ took this precious little time to make sure the girl was ok.
"Thanks for the assist. I owe you one." the girl said getting up and dusting herself off.
"If you want to clear your debt you can help me get some points out of these guys." AJ responded
"No problem I got your back." the girl said while assuming a fighting stance as the bots finally found their prey.
AJ ran towards them and created a sphere completely stopping two and covering half of the third.
"Attack their legs!" AJ yelled hoping the girl had a mid range quirk which fortunately she did. The girl threw a liquid at two of the bots and AJ deactivated his quirk so that the liquid would hit. As soon as the liquid made contact with the metal the bots legs started to melt. As two targets went down AJ reactivated his quirk and found both their switches. He deactivated his quirk and stepped back to admire his work however AJ had forgotten about the third bot and when he turned around he found himself at the foot of a massive probably pissed off three pointer. AJ immediately tried activating his quirk but all he got in response was a violent headache and a small nose bleed. AJ looked up expecting to see the bot's huge come down to smash him but it just stood still for a moment before falling backwards. AJ looked up from the wreckage to see the pink girl standing with her hands on her hips looking pretty proud of herself.
"You're lucky I was here. While your quirk was up I put as much acid into that thing's back and legs as I could." she said with a grin
"Yeah you really saved my ass especially since I overexerted my quirk." AJ responded trying to ignore his pounding headache. "I guess I owe you now."
"Well you can clear your debt by telling me your name."
"AJ Kurosaki but you can just call me AJ everyone does."
"Nice to meetcha AJ 'names Mina Ashido If I'm calling you AJ I guess you'll have to call me Mina."
"Well thanks for the assist Mina I hope you get in."
"You too AJ." she waved and ran off.
AJ sat there on the street waiting for his headache to subside. He had overused his quirk a bit. That many consecutive 20 meter spheres was pretty draining. I hope Ajax is doing ok, AJ thought, he's probably having better luck than me. After a short break AJ decided he should see if he could find any left over one pointers. He ran to an alleyway and came out onto another street. AJ then saw something that made him question his safety during this test. Down at the end of the street past a crowd of terrified students running for their lives was the zero point bot he had been warned about that was towering over the 20 story buildings on either side of the street was slowly making its way down the street toward him.
"This is a highschool test right?" AJ complained to no one " What the hell is that doing here? Are they trying to kill someone?"
Suddenly a streak of some sort of green electricity shot up to the robot's head. AJ could just barely make out a green haired student in the air before he punched the zero pointer and made it's head cave in on itself
AJ looked on in astonishment as the zero pointer fell back destroyed. Before AJ could remember he was still taking a test the alarm sounded to let people know the test was over.
Holy shit please don't tell me the rest of the year will be like this, AJ thought. Now he was really worried about Ajax.
A few months later at AJ's house he and Ajax had received their letters but they wanted to lighten their spirits before opening them. After all Ajax hadn't made the required points to pass but the two still liked to think that maybe there was something they didn't tell them or that AJ miscounted his points. After a two hour video game session, a 30 minute jam session and three energy drinks each team Double A decided to stop procrastinating and rip the band-aid off. AJ opened his letter and let his holo-disc play.
As the holo-disk played hero midnight appeared on the hologram and made AJ choke on his drink. He was really happy his door was closed now.
"AJ Kurosaki thank you for enrolling and taking the UA entrance exam you scored just wonderfully on the written exam however due to all of your delays to stop and help other students during the practice exam you were only able to score 18 points which unfortunately is a failing grade".
AJ's heart sank. He already knew that he had failed but he was still holding onto some kind of hope.
"I'm sorry AJ," Ajax said, trying to comfort his best friend. "There's always Shike-"
"however" Midnight cracked her whip and liked her lips.
"Does she really teach highschoolers" muttered AJ.
"this is a hero school" midnight continued "And what sort of school would we be if we didn't factor in your youthful attitude".
"What does that even mean?" Ajax asked.
"Congratulations AJ Kurosaki for there was another part of scoring this test and that was rescue points. These points are earned by saving other test takers and AJ you gathered a whopping 41 rescue points which gives you a passing grade"
"I DID IT!" AJ yelled.
"LETS FUCKING GOOOO!" cheered Ajax.
"Get ready to experience devotion, hard work, pain, and if you're lucky pleasure."
"How does she get away with that?"
"No idea."
"Get ready for your hero academia."
Hey it's loser I probably wont update this frequently but I was feeling inspired. Also I'm sorry that these first few chapters are short there will be longer chapters in the future. I'm also still on the fence about the whole Mina crush so we'll see where that leads us. thanks for reading critiques are welcomed. later.
