"Morning." Remus jumped up in his bed, gazing around him. He was tiered and battered with a nasty scar going all the way from his temple to his forearm but alert, not placing the voice speaking to him. Sirius grinned happily towards him.
"Sirius!" he yelped happily. "I didn't think you would come until two days from now!" He looked at his alarm clock, it was five to nine.
"I hope you don't mind. I needed a break from home, and besides it's not like I'm unfamiliar with nursing you back to health after a full moon." he added and threw a chocolate frog rather hardly at him as he spoke.
"Of course I don't mind! I'm so glad to see you." he said honestly and embraced his friend, not without wincing. He'd definitely cracked a rib this time. Sirius sat down on the bed next to him and ruffled his hair, making it look even more messy that it previously had.
"I wish you wouldn't hurt yourself so bad, Moony. You look awful." he said cheerfully, eyeing his cuts.
"As long as it's me I'm biting and not anyone else." Remus replied, although mortified by the thought. "How long have you been here?" he asked whilst removing the wrapper from the chocolate frog.
"Few hours. I came early this morning. Hung out with you mother down in the kitchen for a little while. She is fascinating!" he said enthusiastically.
"Really?" Remus was rather surprised by this description of his mother who was a very sweet woman, but rather ordinary.
"Yeah! Although to be fair, I've never actually spoken to a real muggle before." Remus laughed. How was that even possible? "Is that prejudiced?" Sirius wondered casually.
"Maybe a little bit." Remus opened his chocolate frog and threw the card on his bedside table. "But like, NEVER? Haven't you ever gone to a dentist or a grocery store or something?"
"What's a dentist?" Sirius asked curiously, but exhausted as he were Remus preferred to sigh loudly rather than reply.
"Well she seemed sweet." Sirius declared, taking a large bite of the frog that Remus held out in front of him, chewed it and swallowed.
"Oi!" Remus protested. Sirius ignored him.
"She suggested that we could go camping, exploring the highlands just like you said in your letter. I've never been camping, my parents would never stoop to such lows so I recon it'd be fun!" He said, moth full of chocolate. Remus laughed and finished of his end of the frog dignity before replying.
"I've never been either, but I'm sure it'll be fun. There is supposed to be a lake a few days walk away, I suppose we could go there.. We'd have to wait for a day or two before I could get going though." he added quietly.
"I know Mooney." Sirius reassured him. He kicked off his massive boots that surely were too warm to be wearing in the middle of the summer and swung up his legs on the bed next to his.
"That happens to be My pillow." Lupin said sternly, feeling far to weak to actually do something about this sudden change of resting arrangement. His certain lack of personal space made his heart beat a little faster. "And I need to rest."
"Well if you expect me to walk for Days I too will have to rest a bit first. You know, in order to prepare." I yawned, still with some chocolate between his teeth.
"It was only a suggestion!" Remus said suddenly feeling stupid. "I'm sure there are less active things we could do."
"That's quite alright. Besides, considering that I've been awake since very early in the morning." Sirius yawned demonstrably. "I wouldn't mind a little rest myself."
"We could conjure an extra bed you know." Remus pointed out, feeling rather squished against his bedroom wall as Sirius spread out clearly unbothered by how closely they laid together.
"I'll be fine, If you just move over Moony." he replied smartly. Remus sighed but did as he said.
"You know, I look forward to the day you lot become animaguses so that I can come up with some silly nicknames for you guys too." not being overly fond of the name moony.
"As long as mine is better than James." Sirius approved.
"Yeah. I'm sorry you couldn't see him this summer." Remus said carefully. He was feeling warm with joy about having one of his best friends lie next to him as if it was the most normal thing in the world, but he was also painfully aware of the fact that that friend would probably had preferred being somewhere else.
"That's alright." said Sirius. "I'm sure James will be really jealous now that he's missing out on all the fun walking we're about to do." Remus sighed, not feeling the most fun. Sirius yawned again.
"You really are awful at getting up early in the morning, aren't you?" he teased him. "There's going to be a lot of that if we go hiking you know."
"Cut it out!" Sirius moaned. They looked at each other and grinned. Maybe camping wasn't so bad after all. They laid silently next to each other for a while

"Scared of sleeping in that big, scary old house?" Remus said suddenly without really knowing why that suddenly came over him. Sirius stared at him, but he was staring up at the roof. Was it really that obvious?
"Every night." he answered earnestly.
"Scared of deatheaters visiting you whilst you sleep?"
"Most definitely." Sirius shivered. "They keep hanging out in our house you know. Mom and dad won't join them of course but they don't mind giving them gold or talking ideas."
"Then as 80% of your self-control I recommend you stop setting off dungbombs anywhere near them." Remus said mildly. Sirius laughed at this unexpected comment.
"It's just hard for me to play along with all of it, you know. Or to admit that I'm scared of them." He sighed at the thought of it. He felt tiered, into his very soul. There were something itching inside of him, something longing to get out. "Being angry is a lot easier. But I suppose there is also a price to be paid." He felt surprised about admitting this. Whenever he was talking to James about his family, they always did so rather angrily, planning his own triumphant defeat over them one day. Peter never really got it, eager to listen as he always were. This was different. Somehow Lupin had seen right through his act. Words about thing he was the least keen to discuss suddenly seemed to come easy when he was around him.
"Yes, well you are a brave guy. Staying this close to a werewolf alone isn't something many people would dare." Remus pointed out- Sirius smacked him teasingly. "Outch!"
"Remus, you colour coordinate your sock drawer so forgive me for not shivering in fear every time I lay eyes on you." Remus rubbed is shoulder, giving him a salty look. "Oh, sorry, did that hurt?"
"Well, most people would." he pointed out, still wincing as Sirius had hit him on one of his self-inflicted wounds that his other self had given him.
"Where the daring dwell with bravery in their hearts." Sirius quoted proudly, and to Remus surprise, leaned over and kissed him on his aching shoulder and then on his cheek. "Feeling better?"
"Come off it, I'm not a child!" Remus protested, turning rather red and they both laughed.
"This is why you and I have got to stick together." Sirius explained enthusiastically, leaning his head on Remus's good shoulder and snatching over most of the bedsheets.
"Oh yeah?" said Remus, hogging some of his covers back.
"Peter and James, they're fighters and all, but they don't really get what they're at war against. Their lives are too simple. They just don't get it the dark parts like we do." Remus nodded slowly, thinking about this. "But you and I however have been through a lot more, which is why we need to stick together."
"I can agree to that." said Lupin, somewhat taken aback by his honesty. "And I see what you mean. James and Peter are like the day and we're more like the night." he said and immediately feeling stupid after saying so. Sirius laughed.
"The night is a lot cooler though." Sirius pointed out.
"Are you stating that I'm cool?" Remus giggled.
"Definitely. The star and the moon. We should start a band."
"I hate the moon." sighed Remus.
"Personally I don't mind being named after a star." he winked at him.
"Sirius!"
"That's what I was being." Remus actually laughed this once. "As long as I'm the only one." he added. "James can be a planet or something, his head is definitely big enough."
"I think it's time that we took that nap now." Remus interrupted, his eyes feeling heavy. Sirius closed his eyes as if ordered to do so.
"Maybe I'll dream up what our future band name will be." He whispered teasingly
