Olivia looked up from her textbook when her phone chimed. It was an email from the anonymous sender. Jake was going to be upset when she told him they guy replied to her email. Olivia still wasn't ready to give him any personal information, and she was glad he wasn't asking for her name yet. His reply was simple. It's been a long time.

She still wondered if the guy sending the emails could be Fitz. There was something about his personality in class. How could the messages be from him? The guy was in high school when he was sending her emails. He said the messages were for a school project. The teacher had a list of email addresses from other schools, and the students were randomly assigned a pen pal. Olivia didn't know anything about his school project. When they first started talking, he couldn't decide if he wanted to let the teacher know that Olivia didn't know she was on the list for the school project. He decided to keep talking to Olivia and print out the emails before he graduated. He didn't want a new pen pal. It was already awkward talking to Olivia, and he didn't want to start over with someone new. He explained that they weren't allowed to give out any identifying information, and that he would have to print their conversations in four years.

He talked about his favorite subjects, his brother crying for a bottle and really old movies from the 90's. She told him about her favorite movies, and he never heard of any of them. When they had been talking for two years, he said that he was going to get an iPod. He said that his friends were bragging about having the newest technology. He talked about his friends downloading songs and that he wasn't getting rid of his CD collection.

She looked at the clock. If she didn't leave her dorm soon, she would be late for her mom's birthday party. Angela was throwing the party. She would be forever grateful that Maya let her continue to live with her and Olivia while she was in her twenties and the economy was terrible for millennials. Angela was able to give Olivia many important lessons about choosing a career and managing debt. She wasn't able to give her any relationship advice. Fitz would be at the party. If Fitz was sending Olivia messages, though Olivia didn't know how that would be possible, it would be really awkward having a close relationship with her sister's best friend.
