About a week had passed since the date of Mako and Kya and the two were now a couple. On the day after the date Mako had come to the temple for dinner, where they had talked and decided to try together. Kya was once more thinking of Mako when a water ball hit her face. "Hi what's that?" she asked and dried her face. "Can you maybe focus instead of thinking about your boyfriend all the time." Even though Korra tried to stay serious Kya could see her grin. "Just wait!" she called and rushed forwards her sister. "Kya!" Kya stopped shortly before Korra. "This isn't over", Kya said quietly and turned around. Jinora came running over the place forward the twins. "Jinora what's wrong?" Kya asked. "Here this just came for you", Jinora said and handed her a scroll. Kya took the scroll, broke the seal, uncoiled it and read through it. "From who is it?" Korra asked and tried to look over Kya's shoulder. "My brother", Kya said confused. "And what does Iroh want from you?" Korra had stopped to try to read the scroll. "He asks me the end a rebellion he thinks I can do this." Kya was confused why Iroh asked her to do this he could probably do this himself. "This sounds exciting. Let's go", Korra said excited. "What?" Kya looked confused at her sister. "Kya, that Iroh asks you to do this means that's a job for the avatar so I'm going to join you. Because of this and because it's boring here." "I'm not sure", Kya said and looked again on the scroll. "Come on this is going to be fun, I get Asami and you the boys. See you later." With this words Korra disappeared. Kya shook her head she wasn't sure if her brother had thought it like that than why should he ask her to bring her clothes from the fire nation when it was something only the avatar could do. With a sigh she finally left the temple to get Bolin and Mako.
The police station of republic city, Kya had been in front of it a lot of times but she had never entered it. For some reasons Mako didn't want her to visit him here or to pick him up from work. Kya had no time to think about the reasons of her boyfriend and entered the station. A lot of policeman sat on their tables and were doing their paperwork, at the end of the hallway Kya could see a familiar figure. "Bolin!" she called when she was in hearing range, the earthbender turned to her and smiled. "Hi Kya what are you doing here?" he asked and hugged her in greeting. "Do you want to see Mako he's still in the questioning", Bolin continued without waiting for an answer. "Actually", Kya started but was interrupted from a big, broad guy who laid his hand on Bolin's shoulder at this moment. "Hi Bo your new girlfriend?" he asked and took a good look at Kya. "No. That's Kya Mako's girlfriend", Bolin answered. The guy let go of Bolin and went around Kya like she was a prey. "I didn't knew that our ferret has such an exquisite taste", he said and stood in front of Kya. "My name is Kazuya nice to meet you", he said and bowed slightly. "Nice would you leave us alone, we have to discuss here something", Kya said coolly. "Fine as you wish", Kazuya said and went away. Kya shook her head and turned back to Bolin. "What do you think will the questioning take long?" she asked him. Bolin looked at the watch who hung behind Kya on the wall and said: "No he's in there for half an hour which means he should be done any minute. Mako is quite implacable in questioning." Kya smiled, she would like to see her boyfriend grill suspects. "Good than we will wait for him", said Kya and sat on Bolin's desk. "We?" Bolin asked confused. "Yeah it's about something where I need the help of you two." "Sounds interesting. Care to tell me what's it about?" Bolin's curiosity seemed to be awake, but Kya shook her head. "I would like to wait until Mako is here, so I don't have to explain it twice." At this moment the door in the back of the station opened and Mako came out of the room behind it with a slimy guy with handcuffs. When he looked around and saw Kya with his brother his eyes widened, quickly he handed the suspect to a colleague of him and went with big steps forward Kya and Bolin. Kya jumped from the desk and took some steps forward Mako. "Hi", she said smiling when he stopped in front of her. "Kya what are you doing here?" Mako asked obviously mad. The smile on Kya's face vanished. "I, I, I", she stumbled. "She needs our help", Bolin interrupted her. Mako looked at his brother with a raised eyebrow and sighed. "Well I sing us off with Beifong und you two got outdoors and wait there." Mako's tone left no room for discussion, so Bolin and Kya left the station. "Now Mako is mad at me", sighed Kya and lain against a pillar of the station. "He will calm down, trust me", Bolin said and laid his hand on Kya's shoulder. "Thanks Bo. I just don't understand what Mako's problem is when I'm here, beside Kazuya that thinks he's a gift for women there's nothing strange here." Kya looked at Bolin who looked on the ground. "You know something don't you?" she asked him. "Yeah but that's something that you and Mako have to talk about yourself." "Bo please" Kya begged, but Bolin simply shook his head. "So with what do you need our help so badly that you show up here?" Mako's voice came from the entry. "Let's go to the temple, I'll explain on the way."
"There you finally are!" Korra cried as Kya and the guys entered the temple. Asami was already there and it looked like Juicy was saddled for the flight. "Hi Korra in contrast to you we still have a job", Mako said laughing and hugged his friend. Kya watched skeptical, a moment ago Mako's mood had been on a low, but now that her sister was here he seemed happy again. Shacking her head she went to Juicy and didn't notice Korra looking after her. "Are you two alright?" Korra asked Mako. He looked to Kya and saw how beaten she seemed, maybe he had been a little unfair with her, after all she wasn't responsible for his hurt ego. "Yeah I was probably a little harsh with her", he answered finally and decided to get rid of this as soon as possible. "Come on or are you planning on staying here?" Asami called and hop in the saddle. While the other three also got in the saddle Kya sat on Juicy's head. "Kya what's that placed called we're flying to?" asked Asami. "Hira'a." "And is this the first time that's there a rebellion?" Bolin wanted to know. "Unfortunately not, in the past the Fire- and Earthbender have clashed from time to time. This time it has to be worse if Iroh asks for my help", with this words they took of.
During the flight Kya barely spoke a word while the other talked and laughed. Especially Mako and Korra seemed to have their fun, that was Kya's opinion, then every time she turned her head Mako was looking at Korra. What she didn't notice because she always turned her head right back was that Mako was throwing glances at her and was wondering what he did wrong. Finally the reached the small village and landed in the center. "Seems to be quite calm", said Bolin while the got from Juicy. As soon as all had gotten down the Bisson flew away, they wouldn't need him until their flight back. "A little to calm don't you think?" Korra said and made some steps forward. "Well, well if this isn't the Avatar", the heard a piercing voice close by. Immediately they all looked at the stranger. It was a young man pretty tall and with broad shoulders, he had short black hair and was wearing clothes from the earth kingdom. "Are you in charge here?" Korra asked. "Perhaps", the guy said and laughed bitterly. "Listen leave the people of this village alone!" Korra screamed back. In the meantime Kya looked around fanatically, something was wrong here, she had a very bad feeling. She made a step forward her sister when the guy spoke again. "And I advise you that you don't stick your nose in somebody else business. Boys show them what you got." Suddenly the earth around the five tore open and some earthbenders jumped out of the ground and started throwing rocks at them at once, one of them even hit Korra on the shoulder. "Korra!" Kya and Mako shotted at the same time and run to her but Mako was faster. "Are you alright?" he asked whispering. Korra nodded and bit her teeth. "We have to get away there to much!" Kya screamed while she defended rocks. "What about the avatar state!" Bolin shouted at her. Kya shook her head. "That's too dangerous", she called and decided to try something else. She bended an airflow and was able to push some earthbenders aside and created an aisle threw which they could flee. As fast as they could they ran in the near by forest, Mako supported Korra the whole way. When they felt safe the took a break and Mako put Korra carefully an the ground. Kya immediately went to her sister and took care of her wound. "And?" she asked as she bend the water, which she had used for healing back into the bottle. "Better thanks", she said and smiled thankfully at her sister. "And what are we doing now?" asked Mako and sat on a rock. "Best thing we set our camp up here and think of a strategy", Kya said and knocked the dust from her clothes. "You want to go there again?" Bolin asked shocked. "Of course. Iroh has asked me to stop this rebellion and I'm going to do that." Kya was determined to help her brother. "Fine let's gather some firewood. Bo can you call Juicy our provisions is in his saddle", Mako said with a sigh and stood up again. Bolin nodded and got the Bissonwhistle from his pocket and blew it. While he waited for the Bisson the others went to search firewood.
