Kagome's eyes looked down, she tightened her grip on her bag. Buyo caressed her right leg, her heart now beating steadily. She started to unclench her hand.
"What's your name."
The man's deep voice made her shrink. "Umm..." Such a simple question yet she had trouble finding the answer. She could hear the sound of the snow crying out as he stepped closer, He was way too close to her. "Kagome, Kagome Higurashi" She remembers.
"Higurashi huh..." he placed a freezing pale hand over her cheek his pinky under her chin lifting her head. Kagome's face tried to put up a fight against the sudden coldness but instantly lost.
"uuhh-yes" Kagome gulped, her nails now digging into her skin. Not trying to look in his eyes, for if she did her heart might just collapse from the treadmill it's currently running on.
"OH God Naraku! She's here for ONE MINUTE and already. You're touching her." Naraku finally drops his paralyzing curse on her, but it doesn't go completely away in an instant. For now, she can only move her head. She sees a young woman behind them.
"Miss Tsubaki??" Kagome questioned.
"Tch" The woman ran a hand through her long silver hair "Enough with that Miss Tsubaki crap." She scrunched up her face with disgust. "It's just Tsubaki, Tsubaki The Dark Priestess" she replied with a venomous sneer.
"Dark priestess? wai-"
"Enough talking." Naraku held up a hand then started to walk away "Let's go." he went inside the car.
Tsubaki rolled her eyes at him then turned to her. "Take your stuff with you, and you see there's a dirt road that goes all the way towards the cabins," Tsubaki pointed out, then saw Kagome's stunned face "Oh you're going to walk all the way over there, I expect to see you. yet... if you so chose to try and run away go ahead. You know nothing of this place." Tsubaki smiled as she walked to the car and opened the passenger door.
"The nights get absolutely frigid here, it was an hour drive from the airport in a car. So for you what? three, four hours. Make your choice Kagome" Tsubaki grinned at Kagome as she sat in the car, with the man named Naraku. They talked about something but Kagome couldn't hear, then they took off leaving her behind with the bags.
She stayed stiffed until she loosened up her muscles. Plummeting her knees to the snow.
"Oh, Buyo where have I taken us to?" Kagome's voice cracked as she looked around at her surroundings and all the duffel bags. Tsubaki had also left her stuff, "She expects me to carry her things too..."
In total there are five bags, but only one belongs to her. "Come on Buyo" Kagome put two bags in each arm and held the heaviest with both hands. "We better start walking Mis- I mean Tsubaki will most likely be expecting her stuff soon... plus she's right... I don't know where we're at, so we would easily get lost."
Tears began to fall as she and Buyo made their way along the dirt path. She began to think. Maybe. Just maybe she could have avoided this? Maybe she should have just taken Tadakuni's offer...
~
Tadakuni held her back, "okay Kagome I'll be back okay..."
"You're leaving?!?" Her eyes widened.
"it's okay Kagome, I have to check if Lisa is fine and see if your fa-"
Kagome turned away, wiping tears off.
"Please make sure Buyo is okay too."
"I will." Tadakuni left.

'Snap'
"ah!-" The sudden noise scared Kagome making her lose her balance. Dropping the bags along with herself. She fell knees first, her body laying over the biggest bag hurting her stomach and her lower ribs. Tears once again came up from her eyes.
"a-..." Kagome wanted, needed to scream but she couldn't. Only in her mind was she able to yell her lungs out. But outside. She couldn't, just cry. Her heart racing, nose now dripping with snot.
' I'm so stupid, couldn't I have seen that stupid twig. Why did the noise of the twig fucking scare me?...' This was all she could think. In the real cold world, she was currently living in, all she let out was a sigh. Nothing but coldness wrapped around her, until warmth came at her fingertips. She looked up it was Buyo gently licking the freezing snow away. No matter if everything around her was going wrong, or horrible, Buyo. Her best friend in the whole world could always remind her how to smile.
Kagome stood up from the freezing snow, it's a good thing she was wearing thick fabric pants. She grabbed her cat, tightly but not too tight, and put him close to her chest. It was at that moment she realizes how skinny he's gotten, "uh!" she gasps. Widening her eyes. "Buyo, I'm sorry, I didn't even feed you. This morning on the plane..." Kagome looked into his black orbs, "Please forgive me." she softly rubs his ears. To which he began to purr.
Kagome closed her eyes and hummed lightly as she kissed the top of his forehead.
"Mmmm... hummm ...Mmmm ... humm."
As she hummed the tune she felt something on top of her forehead. "Mom?..." was the first word that left her lips. She opened her eyes to look up at her head, there a small white bird tilting its head stared back at her. "Umm... Hey there" she said, as she stuck out her pointer finger, the small bird jumped on it. "OH!" she slowly moved the bird down to hers and Buyos face.
The bird shook. Chirp Chirp it let out.
"Meow-meow" Buyo replied.
"Chirppp Chirrrppp..."
"Meoww meowww..."
"This is soo cute!" Kagome cheered. "hmm," she squinted her eyes. "Hey, you have some grey spots on you."
The bird shook and once again tilted its head.
"Oh! No not in a bad way." She smiled. "It just makes you look even more adorable!" The bird chirped again.
Kagome laughed, just then she noticed frozen water droplets were falling. "Oh no," she looked around and saw how the road to the cabins have been completely covered in snow. "How... How am I supposed to find my way over there?" She looked at Buyo who was now trying to curl closer to her no doubt for warmth. "I have to find the road fast! But you're starting to feel cold! I... I- I can't let you walk on the ground. But I don't want to leave Miss Tsubaki stuff," The small bird left Kagome's finger to go on top of a tree.
"Buyo you okay?" She opened her sweater. It wasn't one made for this type of cold let alone the snow. Its material l was just soft cotton with two pockets, a hoodie, and at the ends of her sleeves was dark green-dyed non-animal fur. "Buyo..."
The cat yawned. "Oh thank goodness. Okay! I need to hurry up and get us there." Kagome stood up unzipped her sweater and let Buyo inside then quickly zipped it back up. "Wait." An idea popped inside her head. "Let's hope I packed a long sleeve." She digs through her bag. "Yes found it!" She held up a white long sleeve. "Even better two of them, Okay buyo I'm gonna have to set you down."
Buyo purred as he felt her cold fingers against his chest and lower back. She set him down on her lap. As she turned the long sleeve upside down and tied the sleeves behind her back. Kagome gave it a tug making sure it's nice and tight. She slipped him into the inside of the shirt carefully she grabbed the other made sure that it held him in place then tied a knot behind her. Finally, she also tied the two end corners to the left and the right. "Nice and snug buyo?"
Buyo purred. Kagome nodded. Once again she zipped up her jacket and grabbed the bags. Two on her left arm and two on the right but this time she made sure to put them all the way up against her shoulder. Last she grabbed ahold of the heaviest bag. Again with both hands.
"Umm... where? How. I... We're Lost..." She looked around her surrounding as snow proceeded to fall. The cold wind started making it hard to see. "I'm just going to walk the way I fell, it has to be. Be. Burrr. It's getting even colder." Kagome began walking hoping she was going the right way. Every step she wanted it to be her last. But if she were to give up, she wouldn't just be quitting her life. It will also mean leaving Buyo alone, and she couldn't do that.
Every now and then she had to put the bag down to catch her breath. Every time she breathed in it hurt her chest. 'Come on there's no way the road up there takes this long. *INHALES* What if I'm just going in circles? *EXHALES* Will they come looking for me? God the snow hurts my eyes.'
Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp.
She recognized the sound, it's the cute bird she met earlier. Squinting her eyes to try looking for it yet she could not see it, just hear its chirping. It seemed to be very close but every time she walked towards it seemed farther away. She just kept following it. Something told her to just try to find the bird.
"Buyo u... You holding up in there?"
"Buyooo"
Silence, nothing but the wind howling.
"Buyooooo," she said louder. Desperately wanting a response.
She dropped the bag with her shaking numb fingers trying to unzip her sweater. "Buyooo" as soon as she opened it, she was met with big brown eyes looking back at her. She smiled and zipped it back up. Just as she reached to grab the bag again. She saw the little bird. Kagome was about to speak but noticed the bird looking to its right. She also looked that way and noticed lights not too far. "Ah!" She yelled. "that must be the cabins!"
She hugs buyo as she runs towards the lights. 'i know I'm running but I can't feel my feet' a thought crossed her mind as she ran. 'yes! It's definitely the cabins' luckily up ahead there was a big black bar gate left open. To the left and right was a tall wall that she assumed went around the whole cabin area. "I made it!"
As soon as she was inside the gate she instantly felt warm. 'huh?' literally seconds ago it was freezing cold but now warm? She looked around and up she could clearly see the dark night sky. The grey clouds all huddling together. Snow jumping off of them. But nun of it falling down on her? Kagome held her arms up seeing the snow that blanketed her had all melted away at an instant while still being outside?
"So I see you've finally made it. Hey! What happened to the bags!?"
Kagome turned to see Tsubaki walking towards her. Again she wasn't old but still has silver hair. "The... Oh! Umm, I, I dropped them... on my way over here." she looked down "I wanted to get over here quickly for my cat buyo" she whispered.
"Yes, how is the furry one?"
"Uhh," Kagome moved her fingers. 'they hurt a lot less now' once again unzipping her sweater. "You're awake" she smiled. He yawned blinking a bit, he then moved his head around taking in their new environment.
"It's pretty neat huh"
Kagome looked up.
"You see we are inside a barrier," Tsubaki grabbed Kagome's hand turning her around. "It covers the entire cabin area, you see our guest want to enjoy The winter weather, but... Don't want to be cold. I know they're a bunch of idiots but they'll pay a hefty price."
Tsubaki moved her hand past the gate she once again felt the freezing pain on her fingers. "Aww...wow."
Tsubaki let go of her hand "now that you're warmed up go and retrieve the bags! You dropped! Go go!" She pushed her outside the gates.
Kagome shivered, making sure to zip her sweater back up. Luckily she remembered where she left the bags.
After going back inside the barrier, she once again watches the snow melt away. 'beautiful' she thought. Kagome saw Tsubaki motioning her hand to go follow her. She took a deep breath while grabbing the bags tight while walking with Tsubaki. "Since you took your time walking up here I'll have to show you a tour of your duties here tomorrow, so for now. I'll be showing you where you'll sleep, for now." Kagome nodded as they walked on a dirt path. 'this place is huge'
Kagome could only see a few building with the help of a few light poles? 'light poles in a cabin, and since there's a whole wall around this place it feels like more just one big hotel but instead of hotels it's cabins, it's more like a woods resort'
"Careful with this spot." Tsubaki pointed out a hole on the little bridge they were walking over. "Oh, thanks..." She sidestepped it. Just then they were in front of another gate this time it was wooden.
Buyo meowed at the loud creaking sound the wooden gate made as Tsubaki opened it, Kagome chuckled at him. A few steps out of the gate an unexpected feeling of frozen air hit as if someone had just thrown a bucket of cold water at her, which made her stop walking. "Uhh..."
Tsubaki also stopped walking "May I remind you, the barrier is only for guest," she cackled a bit still looking forward not even turning to her. "You aren't a guest, just a worker. You'll sleep there tonight."
Kagome followed her fingers and saw that they were pointing to a old run-down-looking shed? "There?..."
"Are you blind? Yes there." Tsubaki sounded annoyed.
Kagome wanted to say something but decided it's better to keep her mouth shut and just try and go to sleep and end this long horrible day. "Okay..." She opened the door. 'great this one creaks too, maybe even more than the previous one'. The inside was very small, up against the right corner was what she assumed a bed that was very small the only way she'll fit is by sleeping on her side. There is also a fireplace with a little window to the left of it, a small table and a bucket? 'oh no don't tell me'. She blushed just thinking of what that bucket was meant for. She dropped the heaviest bag then let the rest fall. She sat on the bed which poofed out dust. "Umm Tsubaki about that bucket-"
"Yes that's your toilet"
"Oh..." she scanned it.
"Now sleep, this place isn't opened yet. At least for about a week, we've got to get it all set up and cleaned before the guests arrive." She turned to walk away.
"Wait!" Kagome stood up "aren't you, I mean. What about your bags!"
Tsubaki kept walking "everything that you'll need for tonight will be inside those bags hope you can start a fire!..." And with that Tsubaki was gone.
"Goodnight," Kagome mumbled as she closed the door. "Buyo? I'm going to set you on the bed as I look through the bags." She opened her sweater and undid the knots, making sure to put Buyo gently down then sat on the dusty wooden floor opening the duffel bags. Surprisingly she found three thin bedsheets, A small bundle of short but thick logs, three rolls of toilet paper, and a box of crackers. "let's see with the wood I can make a fire," she opened the cracker box leaving it next to Buyo. " I know it's not the healthiest but I'll give you a few tonight and when I start working I'll buy you some cat food." She promised.
"let's hope with the box and matches I have will be enough to start a fire with the logs." Kagome put the logs down on the fireplace, in-between them she placed ripped-up pieces of the cracker box. She took out the matches. The first two just burned the pieces of cardboard then went out. Finally, her fourth match was enough to make the logs catch on fire. "Aww finally!!" she laughed turning around but quiet down seeing Buyo sleeping. "I'll look through the rest of," *yawn* "of the bags tomorrow." She took the three sheets out and laid them on the bed. "Sorry Buyo" she picked him up then laid him back down next to her. He licked her face then closed his eyes. "Good night Buyo". Lastly, she took a deep breath thinking of what the day would be like tomorrow as she drifted off to sleep.
