Important Decisions

Fireheart slowly came too, wincing at a pain that shot through his leg when he moved, blinking in confusion he noticed that he was in Yellowfang's den, at first he couldn't figure out why he was in her den, but then he remembered. Gritting his teeth against the stabbing pain in his leg, Fireheart craned his neck so that he could get a better look at his injury, and his eyes widened in horror at the sight that greeted him. His leg was twisted at an awkward angle and some of the fur was missing, showing skin where fur should have been, the last thing he remembered was trying to follow Tigerclaw's scent. He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he almost didn't notice the low murmurs of both Bluestar and Yellowfang, though he could hear their words, he could also hear the urgency in the hushed whispers. 'I wonder what their talking about?' He wondered to himself, he then turned his head towards the entrance of the medicine den and his ears twitched as he heard the soft patter of paws, as Bluestar and Yellowfang slowly patted into the medicine den.

"Oh good, you're awake" Bluestar meowed, sounding relieved, but also a bit sad.

"Are you feeling any better, Bluestar?" Fireheart asked, wondering why she sounded so sad.

"Yes, but I lost a life. Listen to me, Fireheart. There's something that Yellowfang and I need to talk to you about" Bluestar meowed, glancing at Yellowfang, who nodded. Bluestar then turned back to Fireheart with a serious expression on her face.

"Fireheart, I'm so sorry, but I'm afraid that when the monster hit you it shattered your hind leg, and a warrior needs all four legs, I'm really sorry, but you'll never be able to be a warrior" Yellowfang told him sadly.

He gazed at her, his mind whirling, 'How could he not be a warrior, I trained for that reason,' he thought wincing as another thought came to mind. 'Does not being able to no longer be a warrior mean that Bluestar was gonna demand for him to return back to his life as a kittypet.' That thought horrified him. 'Anything, but that.' He begged silently.

"You have some options that you can choose from, you can go back to your life as a kittypet, you can retire to the elders den, or you can become my apprentice" Yellowfang meowed.

"Yellowfang, I accept your offer, I will train as your apprentice" He meowed.

"Very well then, I will have to find a new mentore for Cinderpaw. She's not going to be very happy about it, but there's nothing that I can do about it" Bluestar meowed, sighing softly as she looked down at her paws.

"How about Sandstorm? She could train Cinderpaw" Fireheart suggested, and Bluestar nodded her head in agreement.

"That's a great idea Fireheart, I think Cinderpaw would claw Dustpelt's eyes out, so he's not a good option. And I wish you could have Scene what happened yesterday, Tigerclaw, who's a warrior, got chewed out by Cinderpaw, who's only an apprentice. Luckily, Yellowfang stopped her before she clawed him to peaces" Bluestar quietly explained, shuttering at the memmory, Cinderpaw was always so sweet and care-free, but to see her so angry at Tigerclaw, that just didn't sit well with Bluestar.

"That sounds very unsettling, I'm glad Yellowfang stopped her when she did" Firehert meowed, his expression changing slightly at what Bluestar had just told him.

"She would have broken the warrior code if she had killed Tigerclaw, she's only an Apprentice and cats do not kill each other in battle" Bluestar told Fireheart, who nodded, remembering his conversation a moon ago with Bluestar on their way to Fourtrees.
