Leah

She didn't know how long she was standing there. Completely still on this huge boulder. The voices of her pack mates were suddenly gone as she transform back into her human form and now she was staring in to the valley.

Leah couldn't decide what was more unnerving. Sams thoughts, his pity, her shame or the pull she felt. Apperently the univers did not care at all on whom or what she imprinted. And it was no secret what her pack felt about it.

The tried to sooth her, it was nice enough but Leah could feel their feelings, she knew that they saw no hope in her situation.

No hope for her.

At the beginning, she was the one who couldn't leg to of Sam, a tragic lovestory which shadowed over every event, every meeting. Now she was a hopeless case, doomed to be unhappy.

With Sam she would have gotten over it, eventually. Over time, her heart would have healed. But not this time. You cannot overcome a unlucky imprint. You cannot ignore the bond, or shake off the pull.

She knew that well enough, she remembered Sams thoughts all too well. Which made everything worse. She could hear and feel his love for Emily, but she could also hear and feel his love for her too.

She could hear his thoughts, his selfhatred, his frustration, his pity- which was unbearable. To know, that he still loved her but cannot be with her, broke her. She knew, she made it worse for everybody but she could not help it. Just like him.

At the end it was nobodys fault. She knew that Sam was a good man, she knew he would never do anything to hurt her, which was another prove, that the imprinting was nothing to triffle with. It was an undeniable force.

And sie hoped for it to happen, she prayed, she begged. She knew it would put an end to her problems, to the mourning, to the pain. At least she thought so.

But it seems that her wolf found the one person, who was even more unattainable than Sam. Carlisle Cullen. A married vampire.

She looked down the cliff and thought for a second, if she should just jump. With a bit of luck, her head would rip off and she would not heal.

Everything was better than to relive the story of Sam. To be another obstacle one cannot avoid. But as she thought of Seth and her mother, she stumbled a few steps back.

She could not do it, not to Seth, not to her mother. The loss of her father still weighed upon them, if she would go, it would definitely break them.

A sigh escaped her mouth as she looked away. As she felt the shame of her thoughts, another feeling came over her. Need. She knew what the wolf wanted.. or who he wanted. The thought alone made her heart race. Ashamed she looked away. She should not have these unwanted feelings for someone like him. Funny enough was she not repulsed because of his unnatural nature, the ring on his finger was the problem. She knew how she had felt when Sam left her, when she heard, that he was with Emily. Her heart still breaks when she thought of it. Never ever could she do the same. Not to anyone, and not even to a Vampire.

She changed and instantly was overwhelmed with the voices and feelings of her pack mates. Leah did not understand one word until the roaring and angry voice of Sam overpowered everone.

She wasted no time and bit back and to her suprise Sam backed down. But that was not the thing that astounished her the most. It were the thoughts of Quil, that caught her attention.

Quiet and wary he showed her his feelings vor Claire, his relationship and how happy he was. There was not only one way to live with the imprint, even if it was unavoidable. In Quil thoughts was no trace or romance or lust. He just wanted to be around her, that was it. And maybe that was the solution. Maybe she could be near him, maybe even as a friend.

"-or as a pet."

Thanks Jake, helpful as ever.

"You have to tell him." Sams voice was pure authority and as much she wanted, she could not contradict.

Maybe she could postponed it a little... suddenly it was quiet. Way too quiet. Leah winced.

"No."

"It wasn't intentional!"

"You cannot be serious!"

"This creepy mindreader heard it.." Embry tried to defend his brother but seemed to know, that it was useless.

"NO!"

"It was not his fault, Leah."

Once again Sams voice quietened them down. Leah pressed her eyes shut. It Bellas stalker knew about it, then everyone of them would knew it too. Leah saw them laughing about her, saw their unnatural pale faces with broad grins. This humilation hurt more than she thought and again, Sam called her back.

"LEAH. Just talk to him."

Stubborn as she was, she said nothing.

Even now her body left no doubt, what it wanted and needed. Sie was strong but there was no way she could win this fight. You cannot ignore an imprint. Thats just not possible. Quil and Claire were the perfect example.

Before she could talk with Carlisle, she had to talk to another vampire. She had to know how much Carlisle already knew and then had to decide, how much she would tell him.

It was hard to get her paws to walk to a different direction but soon she was on her way to the city. She could smell him way before she could see him. Instantly she wondered, if Carlisle would have the same odor. Suddenly she remembered, that her thoughts weren't her own anymore and she shuts herself down.

Can we talk?

As soon as the thoughts were in her mind, a pale face showed up in the window of the second floor.

She trotted to the trees, altough it was already too late for the people of Forks to be outside, she was not going to take any chances. She could feel him behind her. Every instict yelled at her and she could feel her blood getting hotter.

"He does not know."

Leah stilled and turned around. His strange golden eyes were fixed on her and he seemed sincere.

"He wonders however, why you are on his mind that often. But he has no clue."

Suddenly her heart raced. He thought about her. So he must feel something of the imprint.

Why did't you tell him?

His eyes left her and lazily he looked around as if he had to think about the question. After a moment he shrugged.

"I thought it would be better if he would hear it from you."

Leah nods faintly. At first she was relieved but now she was mortified. She had to tell him. Everything. She hat to explain this bond to him altough he did not even understand it herself.

Carefully Edward made a step towards her and catched her attention.

"He is a good man, Leah. Talk to him, he will understand it. Trust me."

It was strange how soothing his words were. After all he could read minds, so he would know. Suddenly she was relieved that she imprinted on Carlisle and a guy who red minds and stinked.

Edward laughed and shaked his head.

"Good luck."

He turned around, still amused and made his way to the house. The stench was getting fainter and left Leah alone and nervous. Sam was right, she had to tell him. But how on earth should she do that.
