p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"The day of the entrance exam finally arrived and Izuku Midoriya was late. He had been so exhausted after his final, long day of training under All Might that he had hardly heard his alarm on the next morning. Only when his mother Inko Midoriya had gone into his room to check why her son wasn't getting ready for the exam - about an hour was left before it started - Izuku awoke. Realizing what happened dread filled him as hurried through the bathroom, ate his breakfast so fast that he almost choked and hurried out the apartment he and his mother lived in. In his mind was nothing but a constant stream of em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap. I'm gonna be late!/em/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"When Izuku finally arrived at the entrance of U.A. school for heroes he could see that he was not one of the last to arrive and, to his relief, the exam hadn't started yet. As he was catching his breath the teen scanned the area around the entrance for faces he knew. There were all kinds of people. Some seemed more laid-back - there was a girl with punk/rock-clothes who was leaning on the wall listening to music - and some seemed very uptight - a boy in glasses was in a furious discussion with a girl with voluminous hair and chopped at the air. There was one blonde boy who dressed like he was some prince from ancient times and had a very condescending look on his face. Izuku could even get a glimpse of Kat-chan while he walked around looking for the tall and lanky form of his European friend. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"There!/em He thought and hurried towards Saido calling out his name./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido heard his name being called and turned. He saw the green-and-raven haired teen he had recently become friends with and waved signaling he had seen the other teen. However, before Izuku could reach Saido he tripped over his own foot, but strangely didn't fall./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Sorry that I used my quirk without your consent, but this looked like this could've hurt." Said a cheery and distinctly female voice. Izuku slowly turned his head and grew very flustered when he saw how close the girl who had stopped him mid-air was. /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I - you - thanks" He wasn't able to form a coherent sentence due to his inexperience with talking to girls. Saido saw the predicament his friend was in and couldn't prevent a chuckle. He walked over to Izuku and the brown haired girl. /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I'm Uraraka Ochaco by the way. Good luck with the exam." She said, released Izuku and disappeared into the school waving cheerfully./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Izuku couldn't help but watch after her mesmerized by her cheerfulness. "I finally talked to a girl." He blurted out./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Not really. You didn't say much." Saido deadpanned but then shook his head with a smile. "She seemed nice." Izuku slowly nodded./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Suddenly the speakers all over the school grounds blared and a hyped and cheery voice could be heared. "Greetings yall. Ît's time for the assembly where the rules and procedures of the exam will be explained to you. Please follow the signs to the assembly hall. Your designated places are on your flyers." /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"The two teens looked at each other, nodded and set out. When they walked through the entrance the boy with glasses stopped Saido and stated pompously while chopping at the air. "What are you doing here? Regular school doesn't begin yet. Today is the day for the entrance exam so second and third years are not welcome!"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido was puzzled but then remembered that Izuku had been just as confused because of his height and vice versa. "I'm not a second or third year student." /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Izuku was visible amused by the situation in front of him and by the confusion on the face of the teen with glasses. He had trouble not to laugh and watched with great interest how his friend would handle the situation./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Then what is your purpose here?" The teen enquired not convinced by Saido's statement. His eyes narrowed in suspicion. "You're not a teacher, are you?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""No, no. I'm trying to be accepted into U.A.'s hero-course." Saido was calm on the surface but was trying his best not to laugh. The teen who had stopped him halted his air-chopping and looked at Saido./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I'm terribly sorry!" He hastened to say. "I assumed you were a second or third year because of your height." He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I clearly have to work on my observational skills." /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido shook his head. "It's nothing. I made a similar mistake a few weeks ago." He glanced at Izuku who could barely hold his composure./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""He's European." Izuku explained through fits of supressed laughter to the the air-chopping teen who was still looking a bit confused. The teen's face lightened up with acknowledgment and he nodded. "Again, I'm terribly sorry." He said to Saido who simply waved to signal that it was nothing./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido and the two other teens resumed walking to the assembly hall to get more information. He was surprised how hype the teacher Present Mic was when announcing the rules. The boy who had stopped Izuku and Saido earlier - Tenya Iida - stood out yet again as an over-eager person who was living to much by the book. Before Present Mic could interrupt Iida's interrupting Ochaco stood up. "Right now, the person who is disturbing this presentation the most is you!" /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Iida went red and swiftly sat down. Saido noticed two blonde teens jeering at the humiliation Iida went through and made a mental note to avoid them. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"Especially that one. He lookes pissed. I don't need anybody triggering my /emRageem style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"./em While Present Mic resumed his speech he let his mind and gaze wander looking at his - potentially - future classmates. There were so many teenagers there that they were divided into several groups of fourty to fifty students. /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""All right!" Present Mic exclaimed coming to an end with his presentation. "You will get your chance of proving your worth after the theoretical exam when it gets all practical. You will be tested on our training grounds that look like small cities. Villains - personified by robots - have invaded the city and it is your job to defeat them. You will get 0 - 3 points per robot you destroyed. The one-pointers are pretty small and the three-pointers are very large so you get your worth when you destroy bigger robots."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Why would anyone bother to destroy the zero-pointers then?" One student questioned the meaning of the test but Present Mic just smiled knowingly. "You'll see. And now, I want to hear your soul yell. PLUS ULTRA!"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Silence met his attempt at hyping the students up since none of them had been him to expect them to yell the school's motto. "Ugh, forget it! Just get going. You will find you assigned group and designated testing areas on your flyers." Present Mic grunted disappointedly./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Izuku and Saido quickly compared their flyers and were disappointed. Izuku was designated to group A and testing grounds α while Saido was designated group B with testing grounds β./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido looked at his flyer and said. "Hm. It would've been nice to do the exams together. Well, I wish you the best of luck then Izuku. You'll probably need it in the practical exam, right?" He said and when he saw the confused look on Izuku's face added. "Those robots are probably not easily beatable for quirkless persons." /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Izuku's eyes widened in realization and suddenly grew nervous. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"Oh, right. He doesn't know about One For All./em "There's something I've been meaning to tell you: I was wrong. I got a quirk!" /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"He looked happily at Saido who looked surpised. "So you're a late-bloomer?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I - Yeah, yes. I was just as surpised as you are. However, I still don't really know how to use it since it's so new to me." Izuku explained reliefed that Saido had presented him the perfect excuse for his recent acquisition of a quirk./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Suddenly the two were interrupted by the pissed teen Saido had noticed earlier. "Don't go lying around, Deku! You don't have a quirk you damn nerd." He hissed at Izuku who was visibly intimidated. /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I'm not lying Kat-chan! I'm simply a late-bloomer." He said thankful again for Saido's excuse./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""As if." Kat-chan grunted and growled at Saido. "And what are you supposed to be? Some over-sized loser?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Katsuki was seriously pissed that this newcomer's height allowed him to literally look down on the bully. Saido looked at the angry teen glad that his insult was so plain. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"Well, I really can't afford to /emRageem style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;" right now. Maybe I was fussing over nothing, earlier./em/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""No. I'm Saido. Do tell me. Who are you supposed to be?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Katsuki grinned evilly. "What? You don't know me? You new around here or what?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido looked at Katsuki with a deadpan expression. "Yes, I am." He statet earnestly and without any mirth./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Well." Katsuki said. He turned towards the hall and the remaining students and yelled. "I'm Bakugou Katsuki. Mark my words: I'll be the number one student here!"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Everybody remaining turned towards the three teens still at their seats and looked at the one who was standing on a desk with a triumphant expression. "You're just extras. Stepping stones to my victory." He declared pointing at himself with his thumb./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido faced Katsuki and nodded. "All right. I look forward to your perfomance."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Katsuki decided that this Saido wasn't worth his time anymore, scoffed and stormed out of the room. However, he kept the newcomer's name in mind since in his opinion anybody on a first name basis with Deku couldn't be good news. Saido turned to face Izuku. "Anyways, I wish you the best of luck."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Izuku nodded in acknowledgement and they both turned to leave the room as well./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"About two hours later Saido exited the room of the theoretical exam and sighed in relief. "Whew. Who would've thought that they have such an complicated curriculum in the hero-courses?" /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"He looked on the clock above the door to the room where he had just brooded over several sheets of complex questions. "Oh good, I still have about half an hour left before the practical exams starts. Plenty of time to get to ground β."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"He set out for the combat grounds and tried making a game plan. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"I should probably defeat as many robots as possible - that's obvious - but focus on those who give don't give so many points. If there are some one-pointers and one or two three- or two-pointers most would probably go for the three- or two-pointers. So if I go for the one-pointers maybe I can wrap up a sufficient amount of points without many people intervening./em He suddenly remembered that group A was having their practicals at the moment. Saido frowned. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"I wonder how Izuku is doing. He said that he has a quirk now, but what is it? What type is he?/em/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"While thinking about his friend's testing group Saido was walking by the testing grounds α and heard alarmed shouting and crashing noises. He heard someone yell "He's falling! Somebody catch him!". Saido could only hope that Izuku was okay. He didn't know that the person falling was indeed Izuku who had just demolished a zero-pointer at the cost of both his legs and one arm being broken. However, the European was not granted the luxus of any more time for his thoughts as he reached testing grounds β. He wasn't the first one to arrive. Especially a red haired boy who seemed pretty hyped stood out to him. Saido decided to try and talk to him. /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Before he could say anything a pink skinned girl who had been talking to the redhead saw Saido and suddenly came up to him and spoke to the European. "Wow, you're pretty tall." She seemed very cheerful. "Kirishima and I were just talking about this Bakugou. You talked to him so maybe you know him?" She asked curious about this 'future number one student'./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"The red haired boy apparently named Kirishima looked embarassed. "Ashido don't just go up to people like that. He'll think that we think he is friends with that jerk. "/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido was a bit nervous since he wasn't used to getting approached so easily. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"That's new./em "Oh… No. I'm not friends with him, but I think that Izuku does know him a bit. Maybe you can ask him later?" He decided to change the topic of this newfound conversation. "But what do you think of this practical exam?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Mina Ashido frowned. "I can't say that I am at much of a disadvantage, but I believe that people with quirks that don't cause physical damage are. I can just melt the robots with my acid."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Kirishima nodded in agreement but then sighed. "This will be very exhausting for me since my quirk only hardens my body. It's great for being in the defensive and protecting somebody but when it comes to the offensive I have my problems."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Hearing their statements an idea had formed in Saidos head. He realized that their quirks could be great for a team. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"Kirishimas quirk may even allow him to calm me down if my /emRageem style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;" gets out of control./em He spoke up. "I have an idea: The rules of the exam don't state anywhere that teamwork is forbidden. I think it's part of the test whether the students are able to form teams with complete strangers. The pros have to do it all the time with other agencies."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"The two other teen's eyebrows shot up. "Are you proposing to form a team with us?" Ahsido asked carefully./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""Yes." Saido nodded and explained. "You two seem like you know each other and I can be a supportive role for long-distance combat, so we would make a great team!"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Kirishima looked at the European with expectation. "Well, what is your quirk then?"/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Should've known that question would come up. /span/emspan lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Saido scolded himself but didn't lose his composure. "My quirk lets me draw out and manipulate energy. I can even shoot it over great distances."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Ashido understood and grew very cheery. "That would complete our skillset Kirishima! You are a close-quarters fighter. I excell at medium range and - wait what's your name again?" She asked a little abashedly./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""I'm Saido." The tall teen stated. When the others looked at him expectantly he realized his mistake. "I don't really have a family name."/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Before either of the other teens could say anything Saido intervened. "Please, don't ask. But yeah, I can complete the skillset with my long-range attacks." /span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Kirishima and Ashido could only nod. They both thought that a student without a family name was at least a little strange. Ashido frowned for a few seconds deep in thought. em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"If we are a team…/em/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;""All right. Team Sashido go!" The girl of the group suddenly exclaimed. When she met the boys preplexed expression she laughed. "What? We're a team - so we need a name!" Not able to argue with that the red and blond haired teens instead focused on getting ready for the exam./span/p

p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"Author's note:/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"First off, I would like to thank MBS41 for their review. I've tried to space out the dialogue more in this chapter and hope this is not as bunched up as the first chapter. Further reviews with you guy's oppinions and thoughts about the story and the way I write it are - of course - welcome!/span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"About this chapter: I was planning to have Saido meet some of his future classmates so that he could realize that some of them are really nice people. I won't reveal too much, but the guy has been through something in his past, so he needs some people in his life that are nice to him./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"The next chapter will finally contain some fighting and there will be a little reveal about Saido's quirk. I already have an idea for the further plot of this story so the next two to three chapters should be done in a few weeks./span/p
p class="MsoNormal"Anyway's, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter and say goodbye till I upload the next chapter :)/p
