Chapter 3- Reunion and gathering

Giles looked at the two downed members of the Black Order as Wanda and Vision looked at him in shock.

"Giles!" Wanda called out to him.

"Mr. Giles", Vision greeted.

"You two need to get out of here", Giles said to them as Glaive and Midnight tried to get up, but Giles did a downward motion with his hand. "Stay down."

They went down again from that.

"How did you do that?" Wanda asked.

"Borrowed power", he simply said as Glaive and Midnight now picked themselves up swiftly before Giles could react.

Before they could charge, Giles aimed at them and chanted. "Vincire!"

Green magic energy shot from Giles's hand and formed bands around both Glaive's and Midnight's torsos, pinning their arms against their bodies. The bands both glowed with a green light that made Glaive's and Midnight's skins appear green too.

Midnight then growled as her spear suddenly glowed and a shockwave was produced from it, destroying the band around her before she struck the band around Glaive, and that was gone too.

"Vincire!" Giles chanted again but Glaive and Midnight used their weapons to deflect his energy this time.

"No use trying that trick again", Midnight snarled.

Both then hurled their weapons at him but he yelled a spell and a force field appeared, barely saving him as the weapons flew back to the two.

Giles then made balls of magic and threw those at the two. "Excudo!"

They were hit and sent flying back, crashing through a car each, and groaned as Giles turned to Wanda and Vision. "Go now!"

Wanda nodded and grabbing Vision, used her power to fly him away with her.

Then as Giles turned, he was hit by a blast from Midnight's spear, sending him hurtling back as he rolled on the ground.

She then fired one at Wanda too who tried to deflect but the impact made both her and Vision crash into the roof of a station.

Wanda's face had some minor cuts now but she ignored the pain and crawled over to Vision. "Come on. Come on. Come on, you gotta get up. You gotta get up. Come on. Hey. Hey. We have to go."

"Please." He said as he caressed her face, "Please leave."

"You asked me to stay." She reminded, "I'm staying."

"Please." He said again but they were cut off when they heard crashing behind them. Wanda turned around and got up to see Glaive and Midnight crashing from the roof as well and landing in crouches before getting up.

Wanda stood protectively in front of Vision as her hands glowed red with magic.

Then an express train passed behind Wanda and Midnight cocked her head to look at it. Wanda also looked over in confusion. As the train passed, a silhouette was seen on the far side of the platform.

Midnight threw her spear but the figure effortlessly caught it. Midnight glared as he then stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself to be a bearded, rugged and furious Steve Rogers.

Wanda and Vision smiled in relief.

Sam Wilson swooped in and kicked Midnight across the platform through the café's gate. He fired at Glaive with small projectiles while Bucky Barnes appeared, firing from his gun, but Glaive deflected with his glaive when Steve tossed Midnight's three-pronged spear to Natasha Romanoff who jumped into the fray.

Natasha caught Glaive by surprise and ducking under his swing, stabbed him in the gut as he roared in pain and she knocked him away with a flying kick.

Midnight rushed into the fight and summoned her weapon back into her hand and attacked. Steve leapt forward and rolling, grabbed Glaive's glaive to hold her off. Natasha joined with her batons and as the three deflected each other's attacks before an arrow hit Midnight and went off, the shockwave making her tumble away.

She then heard a loud roar and rolled away just in time but was still caught in the shoulder by a growling Logan's claws, making her grunt as he hurled her away.

She tried to fire from her spear but was then held telekinetically in the air by a recovered Giles who'd just appeared, and then a flying Sam kicked her away.

Midnight crawled towards Glaive and urged him, "Get up."

"I can't." He groaned as he held his wound.

The two were then pinned to the ground by an unseen force as Giles aimed his hand at them, holding them down with his telekinesis again. "Where is your master?"

On not getting a response, he demanded more forcefully. "Where is he?"

"We don't wanna kill you, but we will." Natasha said glibly to the two as they all marched at them.

"With pleasure." Clint added, having seen the cuts on Wanda's face which had infuriated him.

"You'll never get the chance again." Midnight said as a blue light burst through the station's roof and they were beamed up along with Midnight's spear as Glaive's glaive was snatched from Steve's hand and beamed up too. The Q ship flew away.

"How the hell did not one notice that thing?" Logan asked.

"Some sort of cloaking mechanism." Clint said.

Sam helped Vision back to his feet, "Can you stand?"

"Thank you, Captain." He said gratefully to Steve who nodded.

"Let's get you on the jet." He said.

"What are you doing here, Giles?" Steve then asked him.

"You all must have heard of Tony Stark's disappearance by now", Giles said as they walked to the jet.

"Yeah", Natasha nodded.

"I was visiting the Devon Coven recently", Giles told them all. "And after the attack on New York, the Masters of the Mystic Arts all went around spreading word to their allies, which included the Coven. When they heard, they tracked down you two", Giles pointed at Wanda and Vision, "by following the Stone's signature, then lent their power to me to get you two out."

"Ah, okay", Clint said as they finally reached the Quinjet and went in.

As the jet closed, Natasha gently scolded Wanda. "Now, I thought we had a deal. Stay close, check in, don't take any chances."

"I'm sorry." Wanda apologized, knowing she had made a mistake, "We just wanted time."

"It's all right, kid." Clint said as the two hugged each other, "You're all right. That's all that matters."

"What are you gonna do?" Bucky asked Giles.

"Get Buffy and the rest", he told them. "We're going to need everyone we can get on this."

"Yeah, get 'em all, bub", Logan agreed with him.

"Where to, Cap?" Sam then asked Steve.

"Home." Steve simply said and Sam knew where he meant.

Later, Avengers Compound

"Still nothing on Stark or Vision?" The hologram of Ross asked Rhodes. They were having a meeting along with several other important officials.

"Satellites can't pick them up." Rhodes said.

"Vision's on a stolen Quinjet with 7 of the world's most wanted criminals." Ross said and Rhodes scoffed.

"You know they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that, right, sir?" Rhodes asked.

"My God, Rhodes. Your talent for horseshit rivals my own." An annoyed Ross said as he walked up to the man.

"If it weren't for those Accords, Tony and Vision would've been right here." Rhodes said.

"I remember your signature on those papers, Colonel." Ross reminded him.

"That's right." Rhodes said, "And I'm pretty sure I paid for that."

"You having second thoughts?" Ross asked.

"Not anymore." Rhodes said. Never would he support a flawed piece of legislation ever again.

"Mr. Secretary."

Rhodes, Ross and the others turned to see Steve, Natasha, Clint, Wanda, Logan, Bucky, Sam and Giles walk in, Sam supporting Vision on his shoulder.

"You got some nerve." Ross said as he walked up to Steve and Natasha, "I'll give you that. Barging in here like that."

"You could use some of that right now." Natasha said.

"I'm pretty sure you have some of it." Clint snarled at Ross with contempt.

"The world's on fire. And you think all is forgiven?" Ross asked angrily.

"This isn't about your laws, which do not even deserve to see the light of the day", Giles said he now glared at Ross, who actually seemed a little afraid of him. "It's about something called 'life or death'."

Ross first took a deep breath, then recovering himself started. "Do you have any idea what I-"

Logan raised his middle claw and it passed right through the forehead of the hologram. "I'm sorry, you were saying Secretary Jackass? The last person who tried this on me got a broken nose. The only reason you're not getting that is because you're a hologram."

Ross took some deep breaths and finally recovered himself. "How the mighty have fallen, Captain. Bringing in thugs to threaten me?"

"I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking permission." Steve said firmly, "Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way... we'll fight you too."

Ross looked over at Rhodes, mistakenly thinking him to be his only ally, "Arrest them."

"All over it." Rhodes said as he shut the holographic meeting off.

"That's a court-martial." He said to the others as Natasha smiled.

"It's great to see you, Cap." He said as him and Steve shook hands.

"You too, Rhodey." Steve said as him and Natasha hugged, "Hey."

"Hey man." Clint shook his hand as him and Sam hugged too, letting Wanda support Vision by herself for a second.

"Wow. You guys..." Rhodes trailed off as he looked at all of his friends, "Really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple years."

"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five star." Sam joked.

He then looked at Logan and Giles. "Who're you two?"

"Name's Logan, bub", Logan shrugged.

"Loved that", Rhodes said, gesturing to his knuckles as Logan smirked.

"Rupert Giles", Giles introduced himself.

"I think you all look great."

They turned to see Bruce walk in as he regarded them all. "Yeah, I'm back."

"Hi Bruce." Natasha said simply. She still cared for him as a friend but she had moved on now and found true love in Bucky as they understood each other more than anyone.

"Nat." He greeted.

All stood around holograms of Midnight and Glaive as Rhodes asked. "So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?"

"We need all hands on deck", Bruce agreed.

"We will get those, once the course of action is decided", Giles told Bruce.

Bruce then said. "Okay, look. Thanos has the biggest army in the Universe, and they are not gonna stop until they get Vision's Stone."

"Then we have to protect it." Natasha said.

"We will." Giles nodded.

"No, we have to destroy it." Vision said as he got up and all turned to him. Sam put a hand on his shoulder to steady him as he continued, "I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature. But also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source...something very similar to its own signature, perhaps...its molecular integrity could fail."

Vision then turned to Wanda.

"Yeah, and you with it." Wanda told him, "We're not having this conversation."

"Eliminating the Stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it." Vision argued.

"That's too high a price." Wanda said.

"Only you have the power to pay it." Vision said as he put his hands around her but she walked away as all watched them sadly.

"Thanos threatens half the Universe. One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him." Vision said.

"But it should." Steve said as Vision turned to him, "We don't trade lives, Vision."

"Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life…to save how many millions of people?" Vision reminded before turning to Giles. "And your Slayer, Buffy Summers, as well as her sister Dawn Summers were ready to jump into that portal to save this Dimension until Stephen Strange closed it. Tell me, how is this any different?"

"Because you might have a choice." Bruce said.

"Just like Buffy and Dawn did", Giles added.

All looked at Bruce as he said. "Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me, the Stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."

"You're saying Vision isn't just the Stone?" Wanda asked.

"I think that's exactly what he's saying." Clint said.

"I'm saying that if we take out the Stone...there's still a whole lot of Vision left." Bruce explained, "Perhaps the best parts."

"Would make him less dull." Logan joked and all glared at him so he shut up.

"Can we do that?" Natasha asked.

"Not me, not here." Bruce said.

"Well, you better find someone and somewhere fast." Rhodes said, "The government isn't just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back."

"I know somewhere." Steve said as all turned to him.

"Wakanda." Natasha realized what he was getting at.

"So Wakanda it is then?" Giles asked and got final nods. "All right, just needed some confirmation."

"Well, better tell T'Challa then." Steve said dryly as he began to move away while Giles chanted a spell and teleported away.

Few minutes later, Sunnydale, Magic Box

Peter and Buffy were preparing to go out, with Willow and Tara reading a book on spells, adding Dawn to them as well, while Anya was on the counter with Xander putting stuff around when Giles appeared in the middle of the room, startling them all as they jumped.

"Giles!" All of them said at the same time and ran to hug him, suffocating the poor old man between them.

"Lungs…." Giles gasped out and they let go with some embarrassed 'Oh's.

"How did you do that?" Anya asked. "You have powers now?"

"Your magic is quite powerful", Tara noted. "Borrowed though."

"Yes, you got that right", Giles nodded as he sat down.

"So how did the visit to the Coven go?" Buffy asked.

"More eventful than imagined", Giles told them.

"What happened?" Willow asked.

"Got the news of Stark's disappearance yet?" Giles asked them.

"Uhhh, yeah", Peter said lamely, while he wasn't infatuated with Tony like a blind fanboy before, he still liked him after the apology. "We're actually talking about that before you showed up, you know about it?"

"I do", Giles nodded. "He was attacked by aliens working for a powerful alien warlord named Thanos, and he went into their ship."

"What does this Thanos guy want?" Xander asked.

"He wants to collect powerful artefacts called the Infinity Stones", Giles said as he now started pacing around. "At the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then... Boom."

Giles looked at them and continued. "The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals... hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence. Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind, and Time."

He then said. "Now Thanos, he invades planets to wipe out half of their population, I was also told recently that he was the mastermind behind the attack on New York by Loki."

"Huh", Dawn said in shock, just like the rest. "So he wants these Stones to-"

"Wipe out half of all life, and with these Stones, he can do it with a Snap of his fingers", Giles said, snapping his own to emphasize the point, only horrifying the Scoobies more.

"Tell me he hasn't gotten any yet", Buffy said, now remembering her dream with the being who had 6 Stones on the Gauntlet, and now she realized that being must have been Thanos.

"He has Power and Space already", Giles said, making them groan even further.

"So, that would make him like the most powerful being in the Universe?" Anya asked.

"Unfortunately", Giles nodded. "The Mind Stone is in Vision's forehead."

That left Buffy no doubt about what she'd seen as she muttered. "Crap."

"What's the matter, Buffy?" Willow asked her.

"I had a dream a while ago", Buffy said, looking at the rest. "Some huge guy had a Gauntlet with 6 Stones, one being the one from Vision's forehead, and when he closed his fist, everything went haywire."

"You Slayers can have those weird prophecy like dreams, right?" Xander asked.

"Yeah", she nodded.

"Well then, you must have been warned", Giles muttered.

"Anything else you saw?" Peter asked out of curiosity.

Buffy turned to Peter grimly. "He killed you."

Dawn gasped, holding Peter tightly now as Peter's eyes were wide, and Willow and Tara both put their hands on Dawn's shoulders.

"So, what are we supposed to do?" Peter then asked after one full minute.

"You were told you just died in a dream, you're not thinking about that?" Xander asked him, everyone impressed by his resolve.

"I am, but I'm also the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and I can't be that if there's no neighborhood", Peter said, making Dawn chuckle a little as Buffy smiled and put a hand on his shoulder.

She then asked Giles. "So, where are we headed?"

"To Wakanda", Giles told them all. "Anyone you can call?"

"Spike", Buffy said lamely, trying to see Giles' expression.

"Do it", Giles said. "And Angel's team too, if you can reach them."

"Maybe you can try that", Tara suggested to Willow.

"Sure", Willow nodded as she went to call Angel.

"So we're at war then", Buffy muttered as she went off to get Spike.

So this chapter is finally ended, next one is going to be arrival at Wakanda, then the big battle.
