Once Alex and D.C were dressed, they went off in Dix's old truck, Alex using her phone to help her friend find wherever it was that they were going to. Knowing their friends, Alex thought it would either be a club or pub of some sought, but she was wrong.

They ended up parking about a block away from the address the boys had given them, and walked into what appeared to be a party. It was a pretty house, and there was food, party balloons and streamers everywhere. Alex had no idea how they had found the house- the party was just getting started and she couldn't see anyone they knew. Plus, it was a pretty big house. No one they knew had a home like this, Alex was sure of it.

They found the boys in the kitchen, Jordan busy stuffing his face with chocolate cake.

"So," Bear said with a smile, "You found it!"

Dix went to hug Jordan. "Yep," Her friend replied. Alex frowned.

"Trust me, this was not what we were expecting, though! How did you guys find this place?"

Bear gave her a mischievous grin.

"Turns out, Blake had a new girlfriend," He explained. "This is her house."

Wow. Alex would kill to have a place like this. The kitchen door banged open and a girl who looked vaguely familiar walked in. She had bright blue eyes and thick, wavy hair and was smiling at them.

"Hello!" She said, grinning. She then looked at Bear. "You must be Blake's brother. I'm glad you came."

"Hullo, Jeera." Bear said, and picked up Jordan's fork, to Jordan's displeasure. He waved it at his friends. "These are my friends, Alex-,"

"Hey!" Alex smiled.

"Delucia,"

Dix also smiled and waved,

"And finally, Jordan."

Jordan snatched his fork back, and gave Jeera a smile. His teeth were brown from the cake, but she didn't seem to care. In fact, Alex could have sworn she was chuckling softly.

"Anyway," Bear interrupted, "Thank you for inviting us."

"It was my pleasure!" Jeera grinned, and narrowed her eyes at Alex. "Alex, was it?"

Alex nodded shyly, unsure what Jeera was getting at. Jeera just grinned wider and asked if she was a lifeguard at Akarnae Beach. She nodded again, and Jeera started laughing.

"You met my brother the other day," She explained, "His name is Kaiden. I think he took a liking to you."

Alex's cheeks burned with embarrassment. Great. Why her? She wanted to know the odds of this happening. Properly zero. The heavens must be against her.

"It's okay," Jeera laughed, "I don't think he minded. In fact, here he comes now!"

To Alex's further dismay, the kitchen door banged open once again, and Kaiden James walked in.

"Oh, hello!" He said, obviously surprised to see Alex there. "Alex, right?"

She nodded, feeling as if her face was on fire. She snuck a quick peek at her friends. Jordan and Bear were watching with interest, and Dix was staring at Kaiden. Jeera was also watching, but with a kind of quiet amusement. Kaiden smiled at her, and introduced himself to her friends. Jordan proudly told him that they were out celebrating Dix's modeling job, and winked at Alex. She scowled.

"Well," She lied, "We should properly get going. There's a place I want to take Dix too as well, you know."

"Of course!" Jeera nodded, with no apparent sarcasm. "You guys should probably get going then. Thanks for coming!"

"It was our pleasure," Bear said, grinning at Alex. She realised then- he had known. She gave him a look that promised a very painful death, and hurried out of the room with D.C in tow. The boys had taken Bear's car- they could use that to get home.

She was nearly out the door when a voice called after her.

"Alex, wait!" She turned around. Kaiden. Of course. He smiled at her.

"Can I please have your number?" He asked. She was shocked, and Dix was grinning like a fiend. She gave him her number, and got the hell out of there before she could do anything embarrassing. However she could feel those blue, blue eyes watching her and D.C leave.

"So," Her friend said when they were back in the truck, "You said you were going to take me somewhere as well?"

Alex groaned.

"Please, Dix," She begged, "Are you really going to hold me to that?"

Dix smiled a terrifying smile.

"But of course."

Alex ended up letting Dix choose what to do, saying she would pay for whatever it was. Her friend had protested, but Alex had won. They ended up going to a nail place. Dix had got some purple fake nails, but Alex had just asked the lady to paint hers blue and yellow- like the beach.

They walked back to the truck, Alex dragging her feet. It had been a long day, and she was looking forward to collapsing into her bed.

D.C jerked her head up.

"I heard something!" She whispered. "Listen."

Alex listened and heard whimpering coming from the nearby strip of beach.

"Come on!" She whispered to her friend, running for the crystal waters.

"Alex!" D.C groaned, but followed.

There. A brown sack, being dumped by a man. He spotted them, let out a not so nice word, and ran. Alex didn't care. She wanted to get to that sack.

She reached it, and immediately opened it. A flash of a white paw and black, shaggy, wet fur was all she got before a pink tongue licked her face. D.C wordlessly shrugged off her jacket and set around drying the puppy.

"Who could do this to a pup?" Alex whispered, eyes filled with tears.

"It's shivering." Dix said, cuddling it close to her chest. "We need a vet."
