The Claw part of this oneshot was inspired by ArtKittweetz on twitter. From her piece Claw
"No! Elliott's cheating!", Bethiah said climbing out a tree, her tiny brow furrowed in anger.
"I am not! It's not my fault you can't hide properly",Elliott said mockingly.
"MUM!", Elira shouted at Kywa, who was lying on her back in the sun cuddling Rogue who was resting on her chest asleep. Next to them was Adora and Catra who had her head resting in Adora's lap purring. Adora was absently playing with one of Catra's ears.
Kywa sighed and tried quietly and slowly to move from underneath Rogue, trying hard not to wake her. Catra immediately got up,"I got it, let me see what's going on".
Kywa looked at her in surprise,"Sure! you think you can break up their fight, have at it", She says as she puts her hands behind her head and settles back down.
Adora watches Catra as she makes her way down to where the children are playing, she watches as the twins immediately start talking rapidly to Catra, she can't hear what they're saying but watching them makes her smiles, then Catra kneels down and tenderly touches each of the twins on their shoulder, Adora's heart skips a beat.
"I've never seen her like this", Adora says.
Kywa opens her eyes and looks over to Adora and follow her gaze, looking at the twins smiling up at Catra,"Well I can tell you my kids absolutely love her"
Adora puts her hand over her heart,"She can be fun when she wants to be".
Kywa gives Adora a crooked smile,"Oh you know what would be fun",
"What?", Adora looks at Kywa questioningly.
Kywa waves her over,"Come a little closer and i'll tell you".
"Ok so we've decided right?", Catra says as she stands up.
"Yay!, Aunty Catra is on our team!", the twins yelled in unison. Catra winked at Elliott. She looked over to see what Adora was doing and saw her and Kywa laughing at something, the sight made her smile.
One of the twins tugged on Catra's pants ,"Can we play now?"
"Yes! Let's start".
Elliott runs over to a nearby tree and starts counting loudly, Catra takes the hands of the twins and leads them into the brush, she looks around for a hiding spot and finds a tiny bridge, overgrown with vines she points it out to the twins and they run down the hill and crouch down under the bridge, Catra makes a final look to see that Elliott is still counting and then quietly crouches underneath the bridge with them.
"29…..30, Ready or not here I come!",Elliott shouts, they quickly look around stretching their neck, they can't see Catra or the twins anywhere. They move away from the tree and run over to Kywa and Adora who are still talking.
"What's up kiddo?", Kywa says
"Aunty Catra said Adora needs to help me play hide and seek".
Kywa smiles,"Oh did she now, well that sounds like a mission"
Adora smiles and stands up brushing the grass off herself,"Alright let's go".
Rogue wakes up and stretches a little,"Everything ok?", she says sleepily, Kywa moves the hair from Rogue's forehead and kisses her,"Everything is perfect, go back to sleep baby".
Catra and the twins are still hiding quietly under the bridge, their ears prick up as they hear footsteps crunching through the underbrush. Catra puts a finger over her mouth, the twins nod and kneel on all fours wiggling their butts.
The footsteps approach the bridge, Catra can only hear one set walking over the bridge and coming to a stop, Adora's open hand appears under the bridge.
Catra whispers,"Adora! What are you-",
Before Catra can finish her sentence Adora bends her fingers, Catra instinctively arches her back and hisses. Causing Elliott to jump down and declare,"Ha! I found you!", the twins both pounce and tackle Elliott to the ground and they run off giggling back through the brush.
Adora laughs as Catra folds her arms,"that was extremely unfair"
Adora kneels down and kisses Catra's forehead,"So I've got Mice and The Claw in my How to distract Catra arsenal".
