He could see in the distance the various armored knights walking, however, he could also see the beats of the castle moving just out of sight.
"What?" he said as he felt the hot breath of a beast, that had somehow managed to stand next to him.
He watched as a sword was dropped in front of him and with it a pistol that could only fire a single shot, but that didn't matter because he neither had the gun powder nor the ammunition needed for him to be able to use the pistol.
"Thank you he said to the creature, that immediately left his side and resumed its hunt.

Your mission is to investigate the church and to see if the reports that it's the blood that they have administered that is causing the scourge of beasts.

For a brief moment, his mind had been forced to remember the reason he had allowed himself t be caught by the beasts and the reason he was here in this city.
This city must have been an incredible place to live in, as its towering buildings demonstrated that not only was it prospering greatly from the ships that once stoped in its docs, but also because of the healing church present within it.
Now, however, every alley he passes feels like if something was waiting for him to show a hint of weakness for it to strick.
He walked past the bags filled with rotting garbage and puddles of stagnant water that due to the moister of the nearby water were unable to evaporate and so continued to exist and rot on the streets.
He walked down what were once beautifully paved roads that were now covered with holes, and yet he could just barely see the carefully placed stones making some sort of design that he couldn't quite make out.
He watched the towering figure of a wolf that walked on two legs that held the hand of a child as they walked out of an alley and headed towards a nearby house.
he exhaled and was about to walk up to the house before the people inside it screamed in terror but, when the door to the house opened, the elderly woman inside it only widened her eyes at the sight of the wolf before turning to look at the boy that the wolf had with him.
The elderly woman immediately graved the boy and pulled him inside.
"Interesting," he thought to himself as he continued to walk deeper and deeper into the city until he finally reached the center of or what seemed like the center of the city.
His eyes noticed another sheet of paper left behind by one of the knights, it was on a street post near the window of a house.
"Use the fire to either coat your sword or use it as ammunition for your gun, just pour it o your sword or gun" was what was written on it.
"Did you hear, the mayor is having a meeting with a couple of the knights. Folks are saying that he wants to open trade with them and want's to get their help in repairing the city because the knights brought all of those outsiders with them" he heard a man say to someone inside the house.
He listened closely, as he hoped to get a better understanding of the local's attitude towards foreigners.
"So what, more than half the city is dead, the other half is infected, and the few people that remain are either outsiders- infected beasts or a hand full of people that are still human" another voice answered the first one
The house was quiet after that almost as if neither person wanted to continue the conversation because wither nighter men or perhaps hey were women had truly accepted the fact that most of the city was gone or perhaps because neither of them wanted to continue to talk after hearing such uncomfortable things.
Still, he had a job to do, and considering that the only beasts roaming about right now in the immediate area were those belonging to the castle, he could let his guard down a little and look around a bit more.
He began to pay closer attention to the world around him, as he looked for things that on normal occasions a person wouldn't pay attention to.
Under normal circumstances, he would have to strain himself to hear the sound of his own footsteps, but now in this city, every step he gave seemed to have its own echo.
Carriages and wagons laid abandoned and from time to time he would fin the remnants of corpses, either rotting away or long since decomposed.
As he walked he began to hear the sound of people talking and he soon found himself watching a man wearing fancy clothing the kind a regular man would have had to place himself in severe debt to be able to afford.
The man was speaking to a woman wearing white armor and on her waist was what looked like a rapier.
"So we're agreed, you will bring in the materials needed to repair the city and the newly arrived people will be acknowledged as citizens of the city," the man said to the female knight who smiled at the man's words
"Our agreement says that we can trade everything from food- medicine- building materials and yo provide everything the regular citizen needs for the people that arrived because of us" the knight answered the mayor.
He watched as the two of them shook hands and as the pair separated he noticed that on the nearby roofs, there were several knights watching the pair interact.
He was about to dismiss this meeting as it had nothing to do with him when he noticed a pair of horses pulling at least six wagons each.
"Wool- apples- meat from pigs- caws and goats- as well as eggs and whisky" the knight read from the list she suddenly held in her hands.
"Thank you, there are plenty of jobs that need to be done, don't worry about the new citizens, I'm sure that no harm will come to them now that you and your beasts are patrolling the city," the mayor said to the knight, who immediately caught the not so subtle threat.
"I thank you mister mayor, but please remember we will be keeping an eye on those people, so please make sure not to hurt them or put them in any danger," the knight said to the mayor
He watched as both the group of knights and what was left of the city guard, gather around their ambassadors.
AHe knew he had just witnessed an uneasy alliance being made, however, it wasn't one built on trust, instead, it was built on threats and desperation.
