A WIZARD IN STARS HOLLOW

CHAPTER THREE: WHEN HARRY WENT TO FRIDAY DINNER

It was Friday and Harry was actually excited for the dinner he was invited to by Lorelai's mother Emily. With some of the money he had saved up from his new job, Harry bought formal clothes to wear for the dinner. At six o'clock that evening, he was dressed in his new attire and tried his best to comb his naturally messy black hair but it was to no avail, so he left it alone. He and Rory talked on the phone for almost an hour last night so, while he worked at Luke's during the morning, he drank more than four cups of coffee to keep him awake. He found out that Rory really liked him and couldn't stop asking questions about him. She started out with asking what his childhood was like and kept going until she asked about his parents, which wasn't too hard to talk about, but was still a bit of a touchy subject with him. After their chat, he went to bed and woke up early to start his day.

That evening, Harry waited outside the Independence Inn for Lorelai and Rory to get him. He saw their vehicle pull up and he got in. He sat behind Rory in the back seat, which meant that he couldn't see her fully. He finally got to see her when they got out of the vehicle and he was speechless. Sure, she was wearing something casual, but it still made her look amazing. She wore a light blue sweater and black leggings and had her long brown hair slightly curled. "Blimey!" he said as the three of them walked to the door. "You look amazing!"

Rory blushed and said, You look pretty sharp, too." Harry smiled and followed them inside. The five of them sat at the dining room table and talked while they ate. "Thank you for such an amazing dinner, Mrs. Gilmore," said Harry.

"You should thank our cook, Harry," said Enily. "Now, Rory, how is Chilton?"

"I don't know." Rory said with a shrug. "I haven't started yet."

"Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy it." Richard said. "Speaking of which, Christopher called. He's doing very well in California."

"How is that a 'speaking of which', Dad?' Lorelai asked upset.

"Well, you know how fondly we were of him," said Richard, "and I thought you would like to know about it." Lorelai stood up saying she had to go to the kitchen leaving Harry with Rory, Richard and Emily. "I think I should talk to her," he said after a moment. A couple of moments later, Emily went to talk with Lorelai.

"I think now would be a good time for one of your calming tonics." Rory said to Harry when they were alone with Richard.

"Calming tonic?" Richard asked. "What are you talking about?"

"Harry made this drink that calms people down, Grandpa." Rory told him. "He gave it to Mom last night and she was fine."

Harry shook his head. "No, not this time," he said. "I gave her the last one I made. I'll have to make more." Harry still had his new copy of Advanced Potion-Making in his rucksack and had the neccessary ingredients to brew another Calming Draught but didn't have time. The three fell back into silence, which was making Harry nervous. All this talk about 'tonics' was driving him mad. He knew he'd have to tell them the truth about what he was, but he was wanting to do so at a decent time when there wasn't too much tension and he wanted to make sure he could trust Rory and Lorelai with his secrets.

He figured he could tell Rory about him being a wizard, since she usually kept to herself, but he wanted to do it when nobody else was around. The silence was getting to be very nerve-racking for Harry now. "So, how are you enjoying Stars Hollow, Harry?" asked Richard breaking the silence.

"It's great." Harry said with a sigh of relief. "I like a quiet town and Stars Hollow really fits."

"Well, that's good." Richard said. "You know, I think you and Rory would make a very cute couple." Rory choked on a pork chop while Harry spit out his drink. "What?"

"Grandpa!" Rory exclaimed, her face red both from choking and blushing.

"Mr. Gilmore, I like Rory, but I don't really think..." Harry said but Richard cut him off.

"Oh, come now. You two get along really well and I can tell you like him, Rory." Richard said.

Rory stood up just as Lorelai and Emily came back from the kitchen. "I need some air." She walked out the door to the front and stopped dead in her tracks. A tall man wearing black robes stood in front of her. He had a pale compexion and long white blond hair and grey eyes. The man's walking stick had the silver head of a snake on the handle. "Who are you?"

"Let's just say we have a mutual acquaintance with Harry Potter," said the man. He pointed a wooden stick at her. There was a flash of red light and she went unconscioius. The man twisted while holding her wrist and they vanished into thin air.
