Kapitel 2 : Penny
The dark figure in front of me held a huge scythe. Even if she was death reincarnate, I wasn't afraid. Because she looked like someone who looked like a goddess who would free me of my misery. Her eyes contained a deep sorrow that I couldn't understand.
She showed me her hand. On the top of her palm , there was a mark like a burnt branding. She told me it was the Curse of God that she received for transgression of Sacred Domain. She broke all the Sacred Laws. I wondered what a frail soul like her did to get such a terrible penalty
- When I was twelve years old, my mother died. The Duke saw me sitting by my mother's lifeless body when he was passing by. He may have thought that I look like his list lost daughter, so he adopted me. But I was less than welcome here. The sons of the duke thought I was replacing their sister so they were mean to me. The staff did not accept me. They abused, bullied , tortured and starved me. When I tried to escape, they punished me. My patience broke when the second son accused me of stealing his sister's necklace. I was denied what freedom I have left. So I decided to defy all their orders and live a lavish and rowdy life .
She told me nothing will change by the way I am behaving now. I have no place in their hearts so why should they care ? She was right. They'd think that I was pathetic. I need to stand up for myself and end this. I'll change for myself and not for them , so that I can survive. I'll play this game my own way. I'll now fight fire with fire. If they taunt me, I'll cry out in agony. If they punish me, I'll beg for forgiveness. I'll be meek and docile. Let's see what happens.
Eevee told me it was a good idea. I also needed allies inside the house. She advised to blackmail some of the maids using their wrongdoings.
- Sounds fun .
But she told me to raise my voice when needed. Keep calm and let them be the bad guys. She winked.
Time flew by. Our days were peaceful. Whenever someone came and belittled me , I smiled on their faces. I spoke to them politely. They were shocked to death. News of my change spread like wildfire. Soon my probation will end. Eevee told me she'll stay at a secret place and will find a way to officially contact me.
She said that she's looking for a way to change her ill fate. She'll be looking for valuable information about her present condition.
