Chapter 3

Construction and friendship

"Klaus can you make a drawing of the area around this village for Rebekah to use? Caroline said having found some leather and a coal stick. taking the leather and stick from Caroline. "It will be my pleasure, Caroline." he said. Klaus walked into the house to sit down and start drawing. Caroline kept looking at his back while he walked away. "You are smitten by my brother, it's all over your face." Rebekah said smiling and walked over to her. "Bekah, it´s not nice to presume how others feel, and he can hear us talking. Being a vampire has made your hearing a lot better." Caroline said in a low voice, feeling shy. "I see, my apologies." Rebekah said smiling "I´ll go help Kol get more branches for Elijah and Finn to use. The marking of the foundation of the building is going well. Rebekah, can you chop down the trees that are in the way? I'll help after." Caroline said to Rebekah. "I don't know if I'm strong enough to do that, but I'll try." Rebekah said doubting herself. "Rebekah you are stronger than you think. Just try and punch that tree over there. You will see." Caroline said with a soft smile. Rebekah walked over to the tree and punched it with everything she got. The tree broke apart and fell to the ground. "Did I just do that?" Rebekah whispered in disbelief. "Haha that you did, good work Bekah." Caroline said while laughing. The sound had brought the Mikaelson brothers to vampire run to their location "What happened?" Elijah said worried. "I just punched a tree down Haha." Rebekah said happily. "Remind me not to make you angry little sister." Kol said with a shocked face.

Kol and Caroline walked thought the woods collecting branches to be used to mark where the school would be built. "Are you smitten by my brother Niklaus?" Kol asked Caroline with a big grin on his face. Caroline looked at Kol with a surprised face. "Am I that obvious? Rebekah asked me the same thing." Caroline said taking a branch from the ground and placing it in her basket. "You linger on him with your eyes, even a blind man would have picked up on it." Kol said while smiling at her. Caroline laughed at his remark. They had collected many branches and went to deliver them to Finn and Elijah. They were measuring and making sure everything was aligned. They had agreed on a square as the shape of the school with a big garden inside the square to be used for training and other activities. Each corner would be rounded to fit the towers and the front would have a big rounded gate where two hoarse carts would fit through. The whole village and the Michaelson's house were located in the new garden inside the castle. They would demolish the houses when the basement and the ground level were built.

Taking a shovel Caroline started digging the ground where Finn and Elijah had marked. Seeing this Klaus took a shovel and went over to Caroline. "Need any help, love." Klaus said in a caring voice. Starting to dig at the border of the marked ground. "Yes, thank you Klaus." she said back at him. While digging they would often steal glances at each other, and often than not they would look each other in the eye. "How is the digging going love birds, if you two would stop flirting we would already be done with the basement." Kol said smiling with a teasing look. "Kol don't border them, can't you see that the new couple is having a moment together." Finn said with Elijah at his side, looking at Klaus and Caroline. "We brought the sticks in the measured length of to the dept of the basement." Elijah said while tossing two sticks to Caroline and Niklaus. "Thank you, brother." Niklaus said and took the sticks, walking over to Caroline. He lingered in front of her looking her in the eyes. "Here you go love." Klaus said with a smile. "Thank you, Klaus." Caroline said with a loving smile.

They had picked up the pas and were now using vampire speed to have the basement done, Elijah, Kol and Finn were all helping by this point. The sun was setting when they were about to be done. "There you all are, I´ve marked every place that I could find with different kind of stone, I didn't know what stone well be using. I´ve also gartered all the tress and stumps in one place for our convenient." Rebekah said to the group. "That's perfect little sister, we will be done here soon." Finn said. It didn't take them long before the last shovel of ground was outside of the marked area. "I have some blood bottles in my bag if any of you are hungry? We can hunt for animal blood tomorrow." Caroline said while jumping out of the large basement, proceeding to the Mikaelson house. "Yes, I'm starving." Kol said while stretching his arms. The rest follow after Caroline to their home.

Finding 6 cups for them she placed them on the table, and found the blood bottles in her bag. She poured them all half a cup of blood. Proceeding to place the blood bottle back in her bag. "I hope you like it, it's my favorite blood type." Caroline said and gestured to them to take a cup. They all took a cup and drank it, all having their vampire face on. "Don't worry I didn't kill anyone for this blood." Caroline said looking at Finn who was still holding his cup and fighting his vampire side. Finn looked at her and nodded. Caroline sat down on one of the chairs putting her arms on the table. "Bekah can I see the map you have." Caroline said to Rebekah. "Yes sure, here." Rebakah said and handed her the map. Caroline looked at the map, it had detail trees and hills, the village and Ayana´s house was dawned in. There were crosses at locations around the village. "Did you see any animals while you were searching for resources?" Caroline asked. "Yes, to the north, there were a herd of deer, and I heard smaller animals all around" Rebekah answered. "Thats good. We will go hunting tomorrow, and hopefully teach you all restraint. I would like miss Bennet to come live with us here." Caroline said while looking at the map. "We will make fences to the north where we will have the deer encloses, and have them be our food source for the next future." Caroline continued. "This will however not last us long. While we are building our home here, I will go travel the land and find people to have come here and live. But this will be when and only when you all have gained control of your bloodlust." Caroline said and looked at each Mikaelson. The sun was coming down and the first day was almost over. They had made a lot of progress. "We can't do anymore work today, it's time for rest. Miss Caroline you can sleep in Rebekahs room, I hope she won't mind." Elijah said looking at both girls. "No, I defiantly don't mind." Rebekah said looking at Caroline with a smile. "Brothers let's take our bath first then the ladies can have theirs after." Finn said while moving out the door. "I have never been this covered in dirt, or maybe I have. I recall one lovely girl I met once." Kol started saying but was cut short by a slap to his head. "Brother there are ladies here." Niklaus said angrily to Kol. "No need to get angry brother." Kol said walking after Finn, still smiling to himself. "We will leave you girls now; we won't be long." Elijah said to Caroline and Rebekah, walking out the door. "See you soon." Niklaus said to Caroline, and he followed after his brothers, leaving the two girls alone.

"Today was fun, thank you Caroline for making it a fun day for us, after what had happened to Henrik and what we did to our mother and father, and the village. We were about to head somewhere far away from here, when you found us. We all just wanted to forget." Rebekah said with a sad smile. "Giving us something to get our minds off, was a life saver. I enjoyed being by myself and having some air. You picked the right job for me." Rebekah said and laughed looking at Caroline. "I'm sure my brothers enjoyed today too, they were so focused and Elijah and Finn have never been this close before. Normally they don't talk to each other much." Rebekah said taking Carolines hands in hers. "I do what I can to help. And I know that loosing someone dear or having done something you regret can be hard, and the best thing in that situation is to have a project you can lose yourself to. While slowly coming to terms with reality." Caroline said to Rebekah and squeezed her hand a little, giving her a sad smile. "Come let's make your bed, so you have a place to sleep." Rebekah said and got up from the chair. The two girls went further into the house and came to a room that looked like a storage room. Rebekah opened a closet where a pillow and a blanket was. She pulled it out and proceeded to go to a drawer where she found dressing for the pillow and blanket. They walked out the room and down a hallway, Rebekah stopped and opened a door, the two girls walked in and made Rebekahs bed that had enough room for two. "My brothers have the room further down; they also have their own entry to the house from that room. Just so you know, if you wanted to sneak out with Klaus in the middle of the night." Rebekah joked and smiled playfully. "I will have you know that I'm not that kind of girl, Bekah." Caroline said with a strict voice. "Haha, I was just joking, but good to know that my brother is in good hands." Rebekah said. They had made the bed for Caroline and where now on their way back to the dinning/living room. "Sister we are back, you two can go take a bath now." Finn said from behind them. They were in their room at the end of the hallway. "We will." Rebekah said while turning around. "let's get some cloths and towels. Rebekah went into her room and looked in her closet for something for Caroline and herself to wear. I hope you don't mind wearing my dresses." Rebekah said to Caroline who was at the door waiting for her. "No, of course not. I didn't bring any spare cloths anyway." Caroline said to Rebekah.

Having found two towels Rebekah lead the way down to the river. Putting Carolines cloths on a rock and her own cloths next to it, leaving the towels to hang on a tree branch. "Can you swim Caroline? The river is deep in the middle but we normally just go to our knees out the water." Rebekah said while talking off her clothes and folding them together on the ground. "I think I still remember how to. So yes. I do know how to swim. Do you?" Caroline asked back. Taking her bags off and her dress. Leaving it on the ground around her. "I never learned; I was too afraid of drowning, but maybe today I can try." Rebekah said now naked and walking into the river. "I'll join you; it will be refreshing to relax a bit." Caroline said pulling her underwear of and proceeding after Rebekah. Caroline walked to the deep middle and leaned back; she was floating. "How do you do that" Rebekah asked struggling to stay afloat. "You just relax and let the water keep you floating. You can't die so try and relax and just trust the water." Caroline said while swimming over to her. Taking her hands. "Take a dead breath and let yourself fall back on your back." Caroline instructed. Rebekah let go of Carolines hands and took a deep breath, she leaned back, letting herself fall into the water. First, she fell under the surface but moments later she came up. Her arms and legs stretched out; she had done it. "I can't believe how wonderful this feels. It's like I don't have any weight." Rebekah said happily. "Well done, Bekah, you are a natural." Caroline said turning around to have a small swim to the middle of the river. She had forgotten how it felt to just relax. She swam back to Rebekah and floated on her back looking up at the night sky. The stars were out and the wind was blowing slowly, a lovely night to have a bath. The two girls had washed and had dresses themselves, taking the dirty clothes with them back, Rebekah said "I always wanted a sister." Looking at Caroline, she smiled.

Coming back to the house they entered the front door and were met by all the boys. "We were worried." Klaus said to them. "Caroline showed me how to swim, and we enjoyed some quiet time." Rebekah said to the boys, moving pas them to the washing room. "The stars were beautiful tonight. We couldn't take our eyes of them." Caroline said to Klaus with a small smile. Caroline followed Rebekah out. They put the dirty clothes in the washing basket, and returned to the living room. Caroline sat down at the table next to Klaus. "I have something to tell you all. Please have a seat. "I hope that this information will make you all want to learn control over the blood lust you all have, sooner rather than later. Caroline said, waiting for the others to sit down. "You have a sister named Freja somewhere in the world, she was taken from you when she was small and you probably don't remember her. Your aunt Dahlia, your mother sister, has her. We will be rescuing her in the near future." Caroline said to them. Seeing their shocked faces, she proceeds. "I hope that this will give you all courage to do your best tomorrow at the hunt." Caroline looked at them and they understood that this was important. "Now it's time for bed, we must be up early tomorrow for the hunt, then after I would like to start the construction of the basement floor." Finn said and got up to leave. "I would like to say thank you for today miss Caroline, I believe me and my brothers had a very fun day." Finn said towards Caroline and then left the room. "Goodnight Rebekah, Goodnight Caroline." Kol said to the girls, and left after Finn. "Yes, I do believe that today was most entertaining, for all of us. Good night ladies." Elijah said and went after his brothers. "Caroline since you said you found the stars beautiful; will you perhaps take a walk with me?" Klaus asked Caroline, extending his hand to her. She took it. While holding his hand she said to Rebekah. "I'll be back soon, good night Bekah. "Good night you two." Rebekah said to both of them and went towards her room.

Stading In the living room with Klaus, she looked at him, holding his hand, she smiled. "Where will you take me?" Caroline asked. "I was thinking of showing you the best view in this place. The cliff overlooking the village. We are fast now, so it will not take long." Klaus answered, smiling at her. They walked outside hand in hand and she let him lead her at vampire speed towards the cliff. Klaus stopped at the edge and spoke. "Have a look sweetheart." he gestured with his other hand at the view and the stars that were shining at them. "it's beautiful." she said and admired the scenery. "I agree." He said and squeezed her hand a bit. "Caroline, I must confess. I am taken back by you. I fancy you. Is there perhaps a chance that you fancy me too?" Niklaus said looking at her. She couldn't take her eyes of him, before she could think of an answer, she kissed his cheek "I do fancy you." she silently said, her face was inches from his. "Then will you allow me to court you Miss Forbs.?" Klaus said almost a whisper. "Yes, Yes, a thousand times yes." she said placing another kiss on his cheek. He took her face in his hands and looked longingly at her eyes. He came closer, Kissing her lips. The kiss was innocent and pure. They came apart and just held each other's hands, looking in each other's eyes. "Klaus we should go back" Caroline said and squeezed his hands a bit, making him smile. "You are right love." he said to her in a low voice. Coming back to the house Klaus went towards the room he and his brothers shared. "Good night love." Klaus whispered. "Good night Klaus." she whispered back. Walking in to Rebekahs room she got in bed. Sleep came quickly, for Caroline. Finally, she was where her heart needed to be.

Morning came sooner than expected. The sun was rising in the horizon. "Time to get up every one!" Finn yelled from the living room. Caroline opened her eyes, looking at Rebekah who was getting dressed. Caroline got up and finding the dress that Rebekah had put out for her on the bed. "Good morning Bekah, did you sleep well?" Caroline aske while putting on her dress and taking her bags over her shoulder. "Yes, I haven't slept this peaceful in a long time. How did you sleep?" Rebekah asked while brushing her hair. "Me to, I didn't know how I missed the quiet. In the future everything gets so loud, but here you can even hear the ants move about. So, peaceful." Caroline said and looked out the window. Caroline walked over to the door and opening it. She proceeded to the living room. "Good morning everyone." Caroline said and stepped up to the table. She got out the blood bottle. "Good morning love, I see that we are having breakfast before the hunt." Klaus said and went to the shelf to get 6 cups for them. "Yes, I don't want all the deer to die today. How did you sleep?" Caroline asked Klaus. "well considering that my brother Kol didn't stop asking me about you and what we did last night, I'll say that I got as much sleep as I could." Klaus said smiling to Caroline and placing the cups Infront of her. Caroline smiled back a Klaus. "Did you tell him?" Caroline teased. "No, not yet, I thought we should tell them together." Klaus said and sat down on a chair next to Caroline. "Tell us what?" Rebekah said and came into the living room, followed by the rest of the Mikaelsons. Caroline started pouring the blood into the cups only half filling them. "Yesterday, Klaus asked me if he could court me." Caroline said while moving each cup to each seat at the table. The Mikaelsons had their vampire face on and were moving to sit down at the table. Taking their cups. "Can I ask you all to try and drink slowly, it will teach you control." Caroline said to the group. They all tried their best to drink slowly. "So, what did you say?" Kol asked. "She said yes." Klaus answered with a big smile. "Haha, I knew it, the way you two were looking at each other yesterday almost as you have been starving for a year and finally found food." Kol said with a big grin on his face. "Congratulations you two, I hope that this will mean that you won't get distracted while we work on the school, or should I call it castle." Fin said and pondered his words. "I'm happy for you two." Rebekah said looking at both of them with a loving smile. The group was sipping at their cups with blood slowly and enjoying the company. "You all seem better today than yesterday with the blood. Rebekah, Finn and Elijah, you don't have your vampire face on. This is excellent progress." Caroline said smiling at them. "For the hunt today, we will all catch one deer each and you will drink their blood as slowly as you can, you must learn to feel when you have to stop before killing the animal. When you have understood where the line of life and death is you can kill it. We will take the deer back home and skin them and prepare some food for Ayana and put the rest in the shed for later use. After that we shall start construction of the basement and do some house work." Caroline announced. "How long have you been in charge miss Caroline. It's not normal for a woman to lead. But I do appreciate it, saves me the trouble." Finn said with a smile. "I think it's almost 1000 years give or take." Caroline answered, looking at Finn, giving him a smile back.

They had all drank their blood and they proceeded out the door. "Bekah can you lead us to where you saw the deer last?" Caroline asked Rebekah. "Yes, it's this way." Rebekah answered starting to walk. She soon picked up her paste and they were now running in vampire speed forward. Getting to the place north of the village Rebekah stopped and listened. "I hear them, they are this way." Rebekah said and walked towards the sound. They saw the deer eating. "Are you all ready?" Caroline whispered, looking over at the group. They nodded. They all ran towards the deer in vampire speed. The deer had no chance. Soon they all had a deer on the ground and had sunk their teeth in them. Drinking slowly. Caroline had her deer down and was also drinking slowly. She knew that she also had to get more control over her new found powers. Having been a vampire for so many years had given her much better control, but she needed to be sure she wouldn't hurt anyone. Kol stopped drinking and yelled out. "This is the most disgusting blood I have ever tasted, why are we doing this again?" Kol returned to the deer drinking slowly with a disgusting face.

After some time, they had all killed their deer and were now carrying them home. "So, Kol what did you say about deer tasting bad?" Caroline asked in a childish voice. "I swear my deer tasted so bad; one could say that the deer poisoned itself just to spite me." Kol said with a tormented look. "Yes, brother the deer purposely tasted bad just so you would be tormented." Elijah said with a smile, looking at Kol. "How did it go? Did you all learn anything? besides deer tasting bad." Caroline asked the group. "I believe we all have understood when to stop drinking before an animal dies, but I can't say that this will transfer to humans. We will need to test it, by having Ayana come visit us." Elijah said looking at Caroline. "I´ll ask her to come see us when we have built the castle, and not before." Caroline answered.

Coming back to the house they all put their deer on the ground. "Who wants the skinning duty?" Finn asked his brothers. "I can do it." Kol said while walking over to the barn to get the table and skinning tools out. "I'll cut the meat and have it prepared for storage." Rebekah said, feeling confident. "Then we 4 shall go to look at all the marked locations on Rebekahs map, bring tools to cut stone with, we shall start gathering stone right away." Finn said to Elijah, Niklaus and Caroline. They all walked over to the shed to find tools to use. "We will be back when we have stone to deliver, take care you two." Niklaus said to his two siblings. Walking south they used vampire speed to find the first location. The stone they found was white. "This is marvel, it's great to use as decorative, have statues, railing and pilers made from it. But not good for foundations." Caroline said. "Then let's write it down so we know to come back here for it later." Elijah said "Good thing I thought that we will be needing this." Klaus said and found a piece of leather and a coal stick from his bag. "Put a number on this spot on the map, we can mark this spot as number 1 for future references. I'll write down that this is marvel, used for décor." Klaus said. They waited for Niklaus and then proceeded to run to the next location. "This is granite, its perfect for building." Caroline said happily. "Then shall we start carving a big piece out, hopefully we will find more granite, we will need a lot of it, or we can use granite for the foundation and something else for the rest. I would like the castle to not be mismatched." Finn proclaimed. "I agree." Klaus said. Elijah took his tools out and started to carve. Niklaus was writing this new information down, marking it on the map a #2. "I'll stay here, you tree heed to the next spot." Elijah said. "Alright brother, see you soon." Klaus said. They headed to the next marked spot.

"This is amazing." Caroline said excitingly. The small group came to a big limestone deposit. "This is limestone, mostly used for building stone buildings. And there is so much of it." Caroline said. "Then we have found our source for building the rest of the castle. You two go to the next spot, I'll stay here and carve a big piece out, and bring it home. I'll see you two later." Finn said to the two moving over to the limestone. Klaus was writing the location down and looked at Caroline. "Shall we love?" Klaus asked with a smile. "We shall." Caroline said and ran at vampire speed to the next location. they stopped at the next location and found a black stone. "This is onyx stone, imagine having the floor be this beautiful." she said and looked at Klaus, who was writing down, the location. "I don't have to imagine; we can make the floors from this stone." Klaus answered. "Let's carve a big piece out and bring it back for the others to see." Klaus said and took out his tools. They started carving at the onyx stone. "This will take some time; this stone is really though." Caroline said. "that's alright love, I get to spend more time with you alone." Klaus said to her. "Anything you want to talk about?" Caroline asked. "Hmm, what color do you like?" Klaus asked. "I like bright colors, my favorite is yellow, and light blue. What is yours?" Caroline said looking at him. He looked back at her. "The Darker colors, black is my favorite." Klaus answered giving her a loving smile. "What is your favorite activity?" Caroline asked. "I like drawing and enjoying being near you." Klaus said with a grin. "What is yours?" he asked. "I like organizing, and I also like being near you, it makes me happy." She said and laughed. "Would you like to go for a walk tonight, after we are done with all the work of course." He asked "Yes, I would love to." She answered. "Then let's pick up the paste. And have this rock carved." He said with a big smile. "I agree." She said back at him.

The two of them carved the stone in vampire speed and had detached it from the rock formation. "This rock is really heavy I´ll carry this side and you carry the other side." Caroline said and picked up the one side of the rock. Klaus picked up the other side and they carried it towards their home. "I wonder if Kol and Bekah have finished the deer skinning and preparing." Klaus said. "I'll help them if they haven't. Can you check on Finn and Elijah?" Caroline said. "Yes, I will do that." Klaus said to her.

They came to the basement trench and put the stone down. "I'll see you later, love." Klaus said. Caroline smiled "See you later, handsome." She spoke. He came over to her and kissed her, their lips beardly touching, his hand stroking her cheek. He stepped back and smiled, using his vampire speed he vamped away, leaving her alone. Caroline smiled to herself. She jumped over the basements trench and ran towards Kol and Rebekah.

Seeing Kol having finished skinning the deer, he was sawing at a log. "Hey Caroline. Did you find any good stone?" Kol asked, taking a break from the log. "Yes, we found what we needed to start building. What are you making? Caroline asked. "You said we should have the deer fenced in. So, I'm making fences. Was it to the north you wanted them?" Kol said to Caorline. "Yes, to the north. That's great Kol. Where is Bekah?" Caroline said. "I'm in the house Caroline." Rebekah yelled. "Do you need any help?" Caroline yelled back. "Yes please" Rebekah answered. Stepping in the house she saw Rebekah cutting the meat and preparing it to become jerky. "Can you wash your hands and season the meat with salt?" Rebekah asked. Caroline nodded and proceeded to the bucket of water, to wash her hands. She came to the table and started to season the meat she saw how Rebekah had put string around the meat to be hanged, she did the same. "Could the locations I found be used?" Rebekah asked, while cutting the meat. "Yes, you did amazing work. We found limestone, granite and onyx stone. Klaus and I carved a big piece of onyx stone and brought it back, he went to help Finn and Elijah." Caroline said. "That's good. I was worried that I didn't find anything useful." Rebekah said looking relived. "You have a good eye for useful things, you should trust yourself more, bekah." Caroline said and looked at Rebekah. "Thank you, Caroline." Rebekah said.

The two girls worked the meat for some time, there was a lot of it, and when they finally finished, they brought the meat to the shed to hang to dry. "I'll take some meat to Ayana; how do you fell about coming with me." Caroline said to Rebekah. "I don't know, I am a bit scared that I will hurt her. Do you trust me, Caroline?" Rebekah asked. "I think you can handle it. You were near the animal blood for a long time and didn't show your vampire face. I think you are ready." Caroline answered. "If you trust me, then I will try my best." Rebekah said with a smile. Taking the meat into a basket. Rebekah and Caroline started walking east. "Kol we are going to visit Ayana and give her the meat from today's hunt. We will be back strait away!" Caroline yelled towards Kol. "Have a save trip ladies!" Kol yelled back.

Running through the forest they can to Ayana's house fast with their vampire speed. Caroline knocked on the door. Ayana opened the door. Rebekah was standing at a distance. "Hello Caroline, and is that, Rebekah. What brings you here today?" "We have some meat for you from the hunt today." Caroline said and lifted the basket of the ground to give to Ayana. "This looks good. Thank you." Ayana said and had looked in the basked. She walked in to the house to move the meat to one of her own baskets. "Would you two like to have some tee with me?" Ayana asked from inside the house. "No thank you Ayana we just came to give you some food, we will visit another time." Coming back to the door Ayana gave the now empty basket to Caroline. "How are you, Rebekah?" Ayana asked Rebekah who was standing at a distance. "I´m doing okay, I'm still adjusting to being immortal." Rebekah answered. "We will be going now, take care Ayana." Caroline said.

Walking back, Caroline could see that Rebekah was deep in thought. "How are you feeling Bekah?" Caroline asked. "I'm scared of what I felt. I heard Ayana's heart beat and I wanted to drink from her. But I stopped myself, I kept thinking that I didn't want to hurt her, and I kept hearing your voice in my head, telling me that I should trust myself more. Thank you for believing in me." Rebekah said. Caroline smiled at her. Shall we go help the boys, I bet they need our help." Caroline said and took Rebekahs hand. "Yes, let's go." Rebekah said and squeezed her hand. Caroline let her hand go and they vamped towards their home.

They came to the basement trench and jumped over it. Runing faster. Coming to the house they saw Kol putting down pillars in a pile. "I'll clean up after the meat you prepared" Caroline said to Rebekah. "Okay, I think I will wash the cloths from yesterday." Rebekah said and walked into the house. Caroline cleaned quickly, and was now thinking of going to help Finn. She walked outside. "Kol, I'll go to the Limestone deposit." she yelled towards him. "Alright, Caroline. See you later." Kol said and returned to the log in front of him.

Getting to the limestone deposit she saw the 3 brothers; they had carved many big pieces of limestone out of the rock. "Can I help carry the stone to the basements?" Caroline asked. "Yes, please do. We will continue carving." Finn said. Caroline picked up a piece of carved limestone and carried it towards the nearest basement trench.

Caroline spent the next two hours going back and forth. She was about to head out with another piece, lifting it up. "Caroline I will come too; we have enough material to start building. I would like you to be there so we can figure out the best placement of the stone." Finn said, and went to pick up a big piece of limestone. "We will continue carving, brother." Elijah said to Finn. Finn and Caroline walked back to the Basement trench. Finn jumped down and placed his stone to the wall of one side. "I think we should build the floor first and then the walls. How would you like the rooms to be arranged?" Caroline jumped down with her stone and placed it next to the stone Finn placed. "I would like the hallway to be in the middle and have the rooms to each side. Having 5 or 6 rooms be really big and the rest be a little bigger than your living room at the house." Caroline said to Finn. "Then shall we have the 2 big rooms at each side of the entrains and then 2 more at the middle of this length and then 3 at the far side of the basement?" Finn said to her. "That will make 7 big rooms, yes that would be perfect." Caroline answered. "I'll start placing the floor here then, Niklaus said that you would like the onyx stone as the flood. We talked that it would be better to have it as the floor to the ground level. Is that okay with you?" Finn asked. "Yes, that would be perfect." Caroline said.

"Can you keep bringing the limestone here?" Finn asked. "Yes, I'll go right away to get you more." Caroline said to Finn and jumped up the trench. Caroline made her way back to Elijah and Niklaus. Getting there she quickly picked up a rock and proceeded to go back. She kept this up for hours. Every time she got back to Finn; he was moving along the side toward the entrance where the basement stopped. When he had finished that end, he moved back to where he had left of and continued towered the second corner. Caroline was amazed to find that the Mikaelsons brothers were adapt at handywork. Finishing the rest of the basement floor, Finn was now putting down the walls and measuring the length to be sure that the celling was even, and leaving room for the doors. After the walls were place the sun was getting low and he decided that the work day was over. "Caroline, will you tell my brothers that we are done for today, the sun is setting." Finn told Caroline who had just put down a piece of limestone. "Yes, I'll go tell then straight away." Caroline said and vamped away. Caroline came to the limestone deposit and said "Elijah, Klaus, we are done working for today. Come see the progress we have made." Klaus and Elijah stopped carving and stepped over to Caroline. "Lead the way miss Caroline." Elijah said, Klaus smiled at her. Getting back to the trench, the two brothers looked amazed to find that the floor and walls were done. Finn came up to them. "I'll say we have done well for one day's work." Finn said and smiled at them. "I'll go pour us some blood, meet me at the house." Caroline said and vamped away towards the house. Coming to the house she saw Rebekah and Kol sitting at the bench by the campfire they had made. "I'll get us some dinner, she said and stepped in to the living room. Getting 6 cups that she had washed. She poured them all full cups of blood; she had taken from the bottle in her bag. Proceeding outside she had the cups on a tray, walking over to the bench that Rebekah and Kol were sitting on. "Here you go." She said and gave them a cup each. Finn, Elijah and Niklaus came towards them. Getting over to the campfire they stood next to each other around by the fire. "Here you are, please take a cup." Caroline said to the 3 brothers. Taking a cup for herself she started to drink slowly. "Did you make that bench brother?" Elijah asked Kol. "Yes, I had finished making the fence for our deer farm, so I wanted to make something fun, and made this. What do you think?" Kol said. "It's amazing work brother, you have a talent for wood working." Finn said to Kol. "Did I just hear my brother give me a compliment? I must be hearing things." Kol said with a smile. Finn laughed. "Oh, now I'm seeing things, my brother can laugh." he said and they all laughed. "I see that you all have gain much control over your bloodlust. I´m impressed." Caroline said and looked at each Mikaelson. "Well, we have a good teacher." Elijah said and smiled at Caroline. "Today Caroline took me to see Ayana, we delivered the meat and I didn't hurt Ayana." Rebekah said with a smile looking into the fire. "That´s amazing news little sister." Niklaus said to Rebekah. "Yes, this is progress." Elijah said. "Thank you" Rebekah said. Finn looked into the fire and spoke. "Tomorow we shall work on the onyx deposit so we can make the celling for the basement and use it as the floor for the ground level." Elijah looked at Finn "We will need to make new measurements or have pillows to support the onyx celling." Elijah said and took a sip of his cup. "Yes, we will do that." Klaus said. "I'll put up the fence for the deer farm tomorrow, and I'll try to catch some deer to put in it." Kol said smiling. "I think it would be a good idea to collect all the tools here at our home from the village houses. And maybe start demolishing the houses that we empty out." Rebekah said. "That sounds like a good idea bekah." Caroline said. "Yes, we could use some better tools, the village had a black smith, it must have something we can use for future projects." Elijah said. They had all finished their cups with blood and Caroline had collected them from each sibling. Caroline walked into the house to wash the cups. She put the cups back in the shelf and found the bottle that was empty from blood. She still had 3 bottles left with blood in her bag. Hopefully that will be enough until they could find people that would let them drink from them. Caroline walked out to the others, but saw that the boys had left. "Did they go to the river to bathe?" Caroline asked Rebekah who was looking into the fire. "Yes, they will be back soon, don't tell me that you miss them already?" Rebekah said with a smile. Caroline laughed and sat down next to Rebekah. "What is my sister like, Freya I mean." Rebekah asked. "She is a witch just like your mother and she is headstrong and caring, just like you. I didn't talk much with her in my time, she would be around family most of her time. Her son attended my school. He was a bright kid. But that was many years ago, and this time her family will save her from the evil aunt Dahlia." Caroline said looking into the fire. Do you know where she is?" Rebekah asked. "No, but Ayana can do a locator spell to find her, when we have finished the construction of the castle. We will also need to find more witched to help us rescued Freya, Dahlia is a powerful witch and I don't want to risk any one of you." Caroline said looking at Rebekah. "So, we must travel this land to find witches that will help us fight our aunt." Rebekah said looking at Caroline. "Yes. Soon we will have the school build and we can all go travel together. I think Kol would be good at building a carriage and I can try and find a horse, or two." Caroline said looking back at the fire. "Sounds like a good plan Caroline" Rebekah said.

The girls sat by the fire for some time. Enjoying the quiet.
