"Great King?" Was the only thing Bandana Dee could muster. The same aura that circled Kirby had rushed through him violently. Said King walked towards them carefully, omitting dark clouds every step he took. Loud thunderous booms could be heard in the background as King Dedede made his way towards everyone. Kirby flying overhead and making his way inside the house.
"The shards!" Ribbon exclaimed, attempting to fly after him. Rick had held her wings and sat her back on his head.
"You stupid? Don't you see we've already got a problem in our way?" Ribbon took offense to his remark and slapped his head, it wasn't very effective due to her size, but Rick still felt her understandable pain. "Alright fine. I'll see what I can do with the shards and then I'll run back out if everything's good. Stay with Adeline and Dee and I'll do what I can." The massive hamster threw the girls off of him and sped past Dedede who seemed to not care about his efforts.
Bandana Dee walked up towards King Dedede. His eyes were soulless, he had a deathly expression on his face and there was nothing more than the violent whooshes of clouds and the fast pitter-patter of Rick's footsteps in the wet grass the could be heard. Dee had looked up at him. "Great King?" There was no response. "Great King...?" No response, but he took action swinging his mighty mallet at him, causing Dee to get launched back and get knocked back into the girls.
"You have to get over it Waddle Dee. It's not him!" Adeline cried, trying not to squeal in pain due to her laying uncomfortably on her bruised arm and hand. Her warning fell upon deaf ears as Bandana Dee was more focused on trying to help the King than fight him. He walked over to him again, examining him closely, his Parasol was still sheathed and he was still lost in thought about King Dedede. There was another wack on his head, making him stumble backward, falling helplessly on the ground.
"He's like in a trance or something..." Ribbon said looking at Dee with a concerned look on her face, "It's almost pathetic, but to an extent, I can't blame him." Adeline nodded but shook her head at Dee's attempts to try and reconcile with the King. Unfortunately, his efforts were stopped each time with a blow harder than the last.
"Please." Adeline desperately whispered to him hoping he'd come to his senses, "You need to fight. Get that Parasol out immediately and fight." Energy rushed through Dee and he obeyed her commands, he's tried the nice approach, but now it was time to take matters into his own hands. He'd rush Dedede at great speed, taking out the blue -and still slightly charred- Parasol from its sheath. He leaped towards Dedede striking him with the Parasol. The strike was so mighty, it was able to topple the massive penguin, though he still held his ground. He pushed Dee off of him and launched into the air, dive-bombing towards him at incomprehensible speeds. The soulless Dedede trampled on top of Dee, who was slowly struggling to get from under him, despite his grunts and constant squirming, Dedede was too heavy to simply push off. As if he were a golf ball, the mighty King swung his hammer, it quickly ignited and it thrashed against Bandana Dee, the impact was so loud it could be heard half across Dreamland. It was a perfect Hammer Flip. Bandana Dee was sent flying to who knows where, and the only remains of him was his smoke trail, now completely broken Parasol, and his screams getting ever-so more distant by the millisecond. The penguin smirked and growled loudly, scaring both Ribbon and Adeline, who dared to not attack him with what little power they had. Both girls were whimpering over the great King. Dominating them due to his sheer size, he held his mallet up, but a voice cried from the heavens.
"No. Leave them be. They'll get their punishment very soon." Inches away from sending the two girls from death, he stopped his hammer mid-swing and snarled at the two girls. He took to the skies, flying away, hiding behind the dark set of stormy clouds.
Both girls looked at each other and could only hope Rick could stop Kirby in time.
After rushing past Dedede, Rick ran as fast as he could to Kirby's small home. Unfortunately, Kirby had already made his way inside, Rick could try to stop him, but there was no way he'd win a fight against Kirby, especially by himself. If he had Coo and Kine, it could be possible, but by himself, he was near useless, he didn't even have any Copy Abilities he could use to his advantage.
The hamster slammed the wooden door open to see Kirby ransacking through his tiny house, destroying furniture, turning the bed over, and looking in any possible nook and cranny. The puffball jolted when he heard Rick enter the door and had a devilish grin on his face. Rick gulped. Kirby inhaled his bed and spat at Rick who was still in the doorway, it collided against the wall, preventing him from getting inside. Shoot! He had to figure out something to stop him from getting the Shards! Rick frantically ran around the house until he found the window, it was shattered and it seemed like Kirby didn't think of blocking it off. The pudgy hamster miraculously slipped through the window and thudded onto the ground, getting Kirby's attention again. He violently inhaled, hoping the whirlwinds would kill the pesky rodent and stop him from meddling any further. Desperate, Rick hid behind the heaviest thing he could. Big mistake. Said object was a wardrobe full of Copy Ability hats and weaponry, the first object to fly was one of Kirby's bright red Parasols, he held onto it for dear life, shielding himself from the monstrous vortex. He couldn't do this forever, or else he'd lose his grip, that, or Kirby would start using the Ability hats, but a sudden thought came to him. Wait a moment. He remembered overhearing the group's conversation about Kirby and how trying to get him to remember happy things, would try and turn him back to normal.
He hadn't done this in years. In a desperate attempt, Rick had run to the very back of the room and put the Parasol onto his nose. He stood up on one foot and started to twirl with his bright pink nose. "Kirby! Do you remember this?! This is how we became friends years ago!" The violent inhaling stopped and a memory rushed through Kirby. One of him and Rick meeting in luscious meadows.
It was a normal day for Kirby as he minded his own business until he accidentally bumped into this massive hamster. He dropped the Parasol and was caught completely off guard by the exchange, in his own special way, he was trying to apologize profusely. "Hey, it's no problem! Oh hey, is that a Parasol? I haven't used one of these in a while!" Unexpectedly, he began to prep the Parasol up on his nose and began to spin it around, it was extremely entertaining and Kirby couldn't get enough of it, he began to laugh and clap at the hamster's party trick resulting in a hearty laugh from the hamster himself. "I'm Rick. I've seen you walking around these parts a lot and it looked like you were lost, would you like me to give you a ride somewhere?" Kirby had nodded at the hamster's friendly gesture and hopped on top of him. His fur was very soft and Kirby found the perfect spot to mount him. Kirby had poyo'd and gestured to get Rick to the Parasol trick again, he laughed and complied, but Kirby instead was on the Parasol, bouncing on top of it. Both had laughed greatly. "Man, you and I would make great friends, but um could ya tell me what your name was again? I didn't catch it."
"K-Kirby!" He said, trying his best to speak clearly.
"Kirby?" Rick asked, sighing of relief when he saw Kirby bouncing up and down on the Parasol. "Phew..." He grabbed the Parasol and put it on his back while setting Kirby off his back in the process. After his fun, Kirby saw the pure carnage and rubble that was his house and began to angrily poyo-shout at Rick. "What?! No, I-... Kirby, listen to me! Wow, no need for harsh language!" Kirby finished the rest of his argument, before nearly storming off. "No, wait! Kirby you and Ribbon are living together right?" Kirby blushed and nodded, Rick could only sigh. "Do you know where she left the Crystal Shards and Crystal Gun? Something's happening and we need it now!" Kirby looked alert and jerked towards his knocked-over wardrobe closet, sighing in the process (it had taken him weeks to sort all of the hats properly!) He dug into the very back of it and out came the Crystal Gun as a shined in the light. "Great, hand it over! We need it now!" He was going to hand it over before Kirby had drawn his hands back in suspicion and began his poyo tangent. "What do I need them for?" Rick gulped trying to think of an excuse. "Ribbon was talking to me about aiming lessons with the thing, s-so I thought why not practice now?" Kirby glanced at Rick with his iconic blank stare, which turned into a more curious, yet vigilant expression before he began to speak again. "Yes, I am telling the truth. We don't need to call her Kirby, we've all been friends for years... I-I dunno why your house is destroyed, it was just like that when I came over. Look, how many questions are you going to ask me?!" Kirby frowned and shook his head, attempting to put the Shards and Gun back in the cabinet, or rather what was left of it. "Please?"
"Poyno." Kirby stomped his foot and it seemed final. Rick ignoring this began to push Kirby away from the cabinet and grab the Shards, but Kirby anticipated this and slide kicked him a few feet back. His face read, "Why are you acting like this?!" And was tempted to grab an Ability Hat to scare Rick, until his anger had gotten the best of him and his voided eyes returned. Kirby was already digging into the wardrobe and encountered the Shards, he quickly grabbed them and tried taking off, heading for the door. However, as a last-ditch effort, Rick rushed Kirby, but Kirby had inhaled all of his Copy Ability hats in the wardrobe. He started to glow violently and pulsate, he donned a new hat, one that wasn't in the wardrobe. It was white and almost resembled a crown. Rick had never seen it before but almost marveled to see what it was he couldn't help but be paralyzed by its oddness. Kirby was unmoving and Rick saw this as a chance to take the Shard Gun, only for Kirby to blink and levitate off the ground, before imploding upon himself. The gigantic implosion left Kirby's house sucked into it, along with Rick who was none the wiser. As the implosion grew in size, it began sucking up more items from Kirby's house. The mass had gotten bigger until there was pure white. It covered Kirby's house and there was nothing but a deep silence.
BOOM!
BANG!
CRASH!
Until Kirby had truly unleashed the Crash Ability. A loud roaring explosion began and the meadows that were trenched in wet rain were now burning harshly and spreading rapidly. Rick was nowhere to be seen and Kirby had obtained the Crystal Gun and dashed out of the rubble.
The evil had escaped.
Rick and Bandana Dee were missing in action.
And the two girls silently cried as Green Greens was left as a smoldering pile of dead grass.
It had been some time since the explosion, both Adeline and Ribbon were still in shock due to how fast everything unfolded. The fires were eventually tamed, leaving behind burnt and ashy grass. Abruptly, Adeline got up and simply stormed off in a direction. We need to find Waddle Dee and Rick... Ribbon noticed the girl walk away and decided to follow, flapping her tiny wings.
"Well." She stated sadly looking at all of Green Greens rendered to nothing but Grey Greys. "What do we do? Kirby can't save us, Dedede tried to kill us, Dee and Rick are nowhere to be found, and we're defenseless."
"Well, I'm tired of being defenseless. We need to find Dee and we need to rescue the Shards. There's nothing we can do besides travel." Adeline added as she had a sour tone in her voice. "We can fix this, I don't remember where he got launched but, it looked like it was east of Whispy's Woods. If we go on from there, maybe we'd be able to find him?"
"But we can't do anything! I can't attack without the Crystal Shards and you can't even paint!" Ribbon huffed, hoping to give Adeline a wake up call/a sense of reality. Adeline shook her head and continued, her head hung low. As much she really didn't want to admit it, Ribbon was right. Adeline had never picked up any weapon outside of her paintbrush, but even then she was just supporting the others. Bringing food, quick access to Copy Abilities, reconnaissance. But, she couldn't simply chicken out, because a few bad things happened. She had to do everything to save Dreamland from whatever evil that's infecting Kirby and the others. And despite Ribbon's protesting she started to walk, more determined than ever, hoping to be the one to pay for everyone else's favors. She held the small ripped bandana in her hand as her walk turned into a jog.
Quick Update!: I got a little busy with school, but I will be posting chapters more regularly. I also updated some of the previous chapters that had some sentence structure and grammatical issues. Sorry for the long wait! But anyway, thanks for reading! Reviews and criticism would be nice!
