Authors Note: *awkward silence* I don't know if that chapter ended happily either. My bad!

You might notice a lot of paragraphs that pop up are just Keefe thinking to himself. I call those "Keefe Journaling." I brought that up because there's gonna be a lot of Keefe Journaling throughout the story (and a few Sophie Journaling).

Okay . . . This chapter is going to be Sophie's POV. Yay! I think this chapter is the longest out of the other two. BUT a lot of the chapters might come out shorter than I expected, so I might end up with more than I planned on having (depending on if I start making more longer ones).

Please remember to PM me if you have any suggestions for future chapters!

Have fun reading!

"Sophie and I can sleep in my room!" Biana said joyfully. "'Bout time we got some girl time."

Biana was right. Since the whole "Fitzphie" thing she had almost forgotten much about Biana, which was a huge regret because she was awesome.

"Okay great! That leaves just Fitzy, Dexinator, and me," Keefe said as Dex and him bumped fists.

Hey, Fitz transmitted to Sophie. When everyone goes to sleep, we can sneak out tonight and we can go on a walk around Everglen. Just you and me.

He showed-off his movie star-worthy smile.

The words rang in her ears. Her heart did that stupid fluttery thing, making her blush. I don't see why not?

She gazed into his wonderful teal eyes. Every moment looking into them filled her with enthusiasm. He felt too good for her. How did she ever end up with this amazing guy? Why would he care for a creep like her?

The questions were getting deeper and more serious, so she pushed them away.

Once she and Biana went to her room she turned around saying, "You and Fitz are the cutest things ever!"

She continued talking about Fitzphie until Sophie's whole face turned pink.

"Okay, I think we should go to sleep. I'm tired," Sophie said fake yawning.

She waited for Fitz to transmit to her that he was ready to sneak outside. She knew it would take a while because Keefe usually took the longest to fall asleep.

Just thinking about his name made her feel weird. He had been acting strange lately. He was quieter and did not make as many jokes. Weirdest of all, she noticed he was staring at her a lot. Did Keefe like her? She highly doubted that thought. She even tried to push it out of her head, but it attached to her. Keefe was not the kind of guy who would like a girl like her. But did she like him?

Fitz's crisp accent filled her mind.

Hey, I think Keefe's finally asleep now, He transmitted.

You think? Sophie asked.

What I meant to say, is that Keefe's asleep now.

And Biana is too, let's go now.

Sophie quietly got up to go meet Fitz. She walked out Biana's bedroom door and downstairs. Once she was outside, someone picked her up. She yelped, soon to realize it was Fitz who was holding her.

He laughed, then quietly and set her down, but held her close.

Sophie blushed as his perfect teal eyes locked with hers.

"You look beautiful Sophie," he whispered.

"You don't look bad yourself," Sophie giggled.

He leaned closer to her. As he did, she felt like something was wrong. What was it? Was he going to kiss her? Maybe this was too soon. Whatever it was she wanted to pull away.

She desperately looked around without him noticing something to distract him. She eyed a pocket in his cloak that held a small, wrapped box.

"What's that?" Sophie asked, hoping he wouldn't feel hurt that she backed away from him.

"Oh, this? It's a little something from me to you," he smiled.

She quietly gulped as he handed her the small present. She stared at it for a moment.

"Are you going to open it?" Fitz asked.

"Oh. Yeah, sorry."

She unwrapped the gift to find a fragile gilded necklace with a moonlark on it. Diamonds encrusted what would be the water the moonlark sat upon.

It was beautiful. But wasn't it too much? She didn't want to give it back, but she had to be honest, she didn't wear jewelry.

For Fitz's sake, she said: "It's amazing Fitz. I'll wear this whenever I get the chance."

"How about right now?" He asked, turning her until her back was facing him. He pulled the moonlark necklace from the box and laid it gently around her neck latching the golden chains together. "You look wonderful, Sophie."

She and Fitz walked around the beautiful golden building, Everglen. They were hoping that they would not run into any bodyguards. They would be furious if they found her and Fitz wondering around alone at night.

Fitz gently grabbed her hand lacing their fingers together. As he did, deep down in her heart she had an uncomfortable feeling. For weeks, every time she held hands or hugged him, she would feel fine. Why now, when he's being the sweetest, did she feel uncomfortable around him? Maybe she was still adjusting to this whole new boyfriend girlfriend thing. Except Fitz didn't look uncomfortable at all. He looked perfectly fine.

Sophie looked at the necklace around her neck and studied it as an excuse not to look into Fitz's eyes.

"I'm glad you like it," he said.

"Oh, yeah, it's lovely," She said, still trying to avoid eye contact. "It's really late and I'm getting tired. Maybe I should go back to Biana's room."

"Of course, Sophie," He smiled.

She actually wasn't tired at all. Her nightmares kept her awake most of the night. She preferred to stay up all night than suffer in the torturing darkness. Thoughts of the Neverseen flashed through her mind. They could attack any moment, and no one would guess when they would come. She pushed the thought to the back of her head.

Fitz tilted her chin up making her face him. He leaned in and kissed her cheek. Uncomfortable emotions pricked at her heart telling her to push him away and run. She glued her feet to the ground to prevent her from moving until Fitz pulled away.

"Goodnight, Sophie," he said softly. "I love you."

The uncomfortable emotions turned into uncomfortable thoughts. Saying "I love you" felt like too much for her. It just felt wrong for him to say it to her.

She ignored what her heart was telling her and responded. "I uh, love you too."
